MITF Workshop for COMPETITIVE SKATERS

We are pleased to announce the San Diego Ice Arena will be running a 6 week Summer Workshop for our competitive skaters.  The workshop will primarily focus on Moves with guest appearances from outside coaches covering loops,  stroking, and more.  The 60 min. off-ice conditioning portion of the workshop will follow directly after the on-ice portion.  Skaters will meet in the front patio matted area.  Don’t forget to bring your workout clothes and sneakers!  The workshop is available for any level of skater who is currently working on their Pre-Preliminary Moves and above. The Workshops dates and times: Dates: July 10th, 17th, 24th, July 31st ,Aug. 7th and 14th   Day and Time: Wed.  9:00am – 9:45am (On Ice) Wed.  10:00am – 11:00am (Off Ice in front outdoor matted patio) Cost:  $75 for Online Registration  ($10.00 late fee if registering after July 1st) $18 each week for walk-on. Registration forms will be posted to the SDIA website by May 10th  (sdice.com)  Freestyle schedules are available from your private lesson coach, at the skate counter during all Freestyle sessions or on the SDIA website.  Registration deadline is July 1st.  There will be a $10.00 charge for late registrations.   • 5:00 am to 5:45 am – Novice
  • 5:45 am to 7:00 am – Intermediate / Open Juvenile

Congratulations to SDIA’s Kevin Ponceau and Ashley Stark for winning the silver medal in the Juvenile level at the U.S. Figure Skating Championships in Detroit. These skaters live and breath ice skating and their hard work finally paid off! They are San Diego’s favorite juvenile pairs team, check out their interview with Fox 5 news

A Big congratulations to SDIA’s Brian Kim!!!! Brian Kim, M.D., is a Scripps Coastal family physician with an extraordinary talent far outside his medical training and skills. Kim is a championship amateur figure skater who had a banner year during 2018, crowned the U.S. Adult Figure Skating Champion in the adult gold men’s category, and then finishing strong with a gold medal at the Gay Games held in Paris during August. In earlier national competitions, he was awarded silver and bronze medals. Come join the San Diego Ice Arena Running Team and be a part of a 1 mile or 5K run on Sunday, July 29th. We have over 2 months to train!

To become a stronger athlete and prepare our skaters for the higher levels in figure skating, come and train with us and get your skaters in shape to run. Parents and siblings are invited too!

When: Sunday, July 29, 2018

Live Well San Diego 5K

2018 5K starts at 7:30 a.m. & Kids 1-Mile Fun Run at 8:15a.m (Sponsored by the SD Blood bank)

Sign up today online! Please join the San Diego Ice Arena Skaters’ Team when you sign up! Upon sign up, it will ask if you want to join a team, click on our team.

Join the SDIA team for bi-monthly training runs on Saturdays from 9:45-10:15am. (These runs will be 1-3 miles and parent involvement is suggested) Please sign up for the training runs at the skate counter on Saturday mornings starting at 9am.

Training runs will take place on the following 6 Saturdays: 5/5,5/19,6/2,6/16,6/30,7/14 2018. Please direct questions to Shannon Peck: shannoncpeck@hotmail.com.

The start of the Live Well 5K will be at the County Administration Center, Waterfront Park • 1600 Pacific Hwy. San Diego, CA  92101 on Sunday, 7/29/18.
