Whether you are looking for a relaxing shower to start your day or you want to rinse off after the swim, you’ll definitely need a good body wash to moisturize the body. It might seem easy to choose a body wash but there are a lot of options available.
In this guide, we’ll tell you how to choose a quality body wash and also which is perfect for your lifestyle.
1. Ingredients to avoid
After some scientific studies are conducted, new data about frequently used chemicals becomes known. You can use body wash with salicylic acid but many Ingredients that were a part of the body washes and were commonly used are now avoided by many companies. So these are some of the ingredients you need to avoid right now. Have a look.
Parabens: Paraben is an overall term which is used to refer any group of compounds that acts as a preservative. You can spot a paraben in the ingredient list, you just have to look for the word ‘paraben’ at the end of a chosen ingredient like methylparaben, propylparaben etc.
Why it is not good: Scientists have discovered the presence of parabens in cancerous tissues. Not only this, parabens have been found to mimic hormones in the body which can distort your natural hormone system. Although, scientists have not made it clear that paraben causes cancer. However, FDA considers that paraben is safe at low levels, you will feel more comfortable if you choose one out of many excellent paraben-free body washes from the market.
Sodium Lauryl Sulfate/ Sodium Laureth Sulfate: They are also known by their abbreviated names of SLS and SLES, respectively. This causes soaps and body washes to foam up and for thick lather.
Why it is not good: Have you ever felt like it’s burning when shampoo accidentally enters in your eyes? This is because of SLS and SLES. SLS and SLES have to be seen to irritate those with sensitive skin. More use of these two ingredients can surely cause irritation.
With a body wash, you can easily clean the lathered soap within a few minutes of applying it so there are fewer chances of irritation. The FDA also states how much SLS and SLES should be present in the product. Anyway, selecting a sulfate-free body wash will do no harm to your skin and may provide you better results if you have sensitive skin.
2. Lifestyle benefits
You can find a body wash that suits your lifestyle and workout regimen. For instance, if you are a swimmer, look for a body wash that is specially made to remove chlorine and its smell from the skin. Swim outlet has a number of type of body washes so that you can smell good and feel good after you swim.
If you are involved in some other sport or you have sore joints, then you should look for a body wash with essential oils like peppermint or rosemary to help muscle fatigue. So when you shower you can get a soothing and relaxing experience with essential oils.
And if you have a rough and dry skin you may want a body wash with Aloe Vera, Shea Butter, or vitamins. With a regular use, your skin can become soft and smooth.
3. Improve your skin
Body washes are an important addition to your daily shower. With the help of a sponge, you can wash away the dry skin and moisturize. After the workout, you’ll feel soothing and relaxing. Choose the best body wash for you and enjoy the benefits.
Deep conditioning is your hair’s best friend. The old school method of deep conditioning is to sit under a dryer or heating cap plugged into the wall. The problem with that is its so…..restricting!
Now, we have Hot Head…
Enter the new millennium and now you can deep condition your hair while on the go (and no, I don’t mean with just a plastic baggy and a scarf).
Thanks to innovators like ThermalHairCare, you can get a thorough deep conditioning session with as much heat as the old school heating caps that kept you tethered to a chair.
The founder (a professional hairstylist) of ThermalHairCare has created Hot Head, a microwaveable heating cap. It’s special in that it’s filled with renewable flax seeds which generate heat when warmed up in the microwave. It’s reusable and environmentally friendly so you can deep condition your hair with a clean conscience (unlike those evil people who use aerosol hairspray! LOL)
ThermalHairCare sent me the Hot Head to review and they are also gracious enough to host a giveaway. Before we get to the giveaway details, watch my video demo of the Hot Head in action:

My Thoughts on Hot Head Deep Conditioning Cap
I thoroughly enjoyed the fact that I can do errands around the house while deep conditioning my hair. The Hot Head Deep Conditioning cap provided a consistent source of heat across my entire head. My only qualm is that initially, it felt a little too hot on the top of my head. It did however quickly cool.
I also didn’t experience 45 minutes of heat as claimed. I found that the Hot Head only stayed hot and then warm for about 20 minutes. (I do wonder if I had put the Hot Head cap on with the terry cloth side toward my scalp if it would have stayed hot longer. Hmmm. I’ll definitely try it next time.) This is not an issue for me because I typically only deep condition for 15-20 minutes anyway. Plus, you could always pop it back in the microwave to extend the time the cap stays hot.
Now about that giveaway. It’s simple. To be entered to win this, here’s what you need to do:
