Summer vacation is over and we are back to work and ready to start the fall off strong with Yoga Teacher Training. We begin Thursday, September 14th.
The program runs 10 weeks. It is a quality program that is Yoga Alliance certified, Nationally and Internationally recognized.

To feel stable in your boat posture pull the flesh from under your sits bones and feel a greater connection to the floor or mat beneath you.

From this firm foundation you can take the boat as strongly as you like.

Hello Yoga Friend,

Have you ever noticed an unpleasant smell coming from your freshly laundered yoga clothes? Bacteria from your sweat can get stuck in the fibers of your yoga clothing. It’s difficult but not impossible to get that awful smell out.

Tip of the week: To keep your yoga gear smelling clean try soaking your clothes in four parts vinegar one part water before washing.

In addition I recommend adding Oxy clean to the wash cycle and Tide with Fabreze will leave your laundry smelling clean and fresh.

This week’s tip will help you with balance.

To build a solid foundation in your balance postures, identify the four points of the supporting foot.

They are the outer edges of the ball of the foot and the outer edges of the heel of the foot.

In this video I identify these points.

Try this yourself and notice how this helps with balance.

Hello Yoga Friend,

It’s getting hot outside! Yoga in the park is at 8am every Saturday in the Wellness Park in Ruth Hardy Park, Palm Springs.

Your donations in the park throughout the month of July will be given to Hanson House.

Hanson House is a nonprofit located next to Desert Regional Medical Center in Palm Springs. The house is a “home away from home” for the family members of terminally ill patients, parents of neonatal babies, military families from 29 Palms and first responders. The home is provided for little or no cost to help family members stay close while their loved ones are hospitalized.Please help us help them with your donation of $10 or more. The greatest gift we have is the ability to help one another.

Hello Yoga Friends,

We had a request from Greg for advice on stretching the low back. This tightness happens to most of us due to too much sitting, lifting heaving objects or from a sport such as tennis or golf.

The best pose to stretch the lower back is embryo child’s pose and for more intensity lift the hips into rabbit pose. Both postures are demonstrated by Michael in this week’s tip of the week.
