I think one of the best rides I have had on Eli lately was this past Sunday. He is back to being a joy to ride and the testy rudeness on the ground from colder days past seems to be gone. Maybe for a while? Is it actually Spring yet? Can we forget about freezes …

Hopefully it won’t freeze! I am waiting to see this legendary wildflower season that has been …

Please tell me what we have been experiencing here in Texas is Winter’s last gasp. I layered up Conrad for our walk on Saturday. And once again on Sunday, it was too cold and wet to even bother leaving the house. I think we will both be happier once we can do things outside without …

One of the benefits of blogging is a growing collective experience of fellow horse people. (That’s probably a nasty trap, too.) So when I asked last week about a handful of products I was curious about, the response was incredibly helpful. And so I picked up a few new-to-Eli things. I am also still working …

First, let me just point out that the Equine Couture Erna top is back in stock in navy and black. The mesh sleeves are such a sharp summery look, and the top is ridiculously soft and comfortable. The white one I have looks new after every wash. I am obsessed with the black one. Okay, …

Conrad and I made it to the park on Saturday, but it was too cold for me Sunday morning. I am ready for winter to be over. Conrad kept his eye on a vulture while we walked to the park on Saturday.   He also keeps his eye on anyone else walking by in the …

Strap yourself into the ramble seat. Let me just say at the outset that this post is not advice or counsel or applicable to horses in general. This is my experience with one bit for my slightly quirky horse. Anything I write here applies to me and to him. Only. Myler bits have been a …

Miraculously, the weather has been a little more cooperative. Which, in turn, leads to Eli being a little more cooperative. We had a good lesson on Saturday, wherein we finally accomplished just jumping around and having some fun. There was A LOT going on, too — the wind increased as the morning progressed, and rigs …
