Panasonic LUMIX is proud to introduce a new standard zoom digital interchangeable lens, the LEICA DG VARIO-SUMMILUX 10-25mm / F1.7 ASPH. (H-X1025), which boasts a large F1.7 aperture throughout the entire 20-50mm (35mm camera equivalent) zoom range with exceptionally high optical performance clearing the stringent LEICA standards. The LEICA DG VARIO-SUMMILUX 10-25mm / F1.7 ASPH. is suitable not only for shooting stills but also for video to satisfy both professional photographers and videographers.

The full-range F1.7 high-speed aperture provides beautiful bokeh and outstanding image quality. Covering a focusing distance from wide angle to standard zoom range, the LEICA DG VARIO-SUMMILUX 10-25mm / F1.7 ASPH. functions as a multiple fixed focal length lens providing the same or an even higher level of image quality than prime lenses can offer. It is suitable for a variety of daily shooting situations, from dynamic landscapes to low-light , dispelling the need to change lenses depending on the situation.

Comprising 17 elements in 12 groups, the lens system features three aspherical lenses and four ED (Extra-low Dispersion) lenses that will effectively suppress axial chromatic aberration and chromatic aberration of magnification. Spherical aberration and distortion are also corrected by the aspherical lenses for stunningly high resolution. The use of aspherical lenses and the optimum design of the lens system results in a compact size and light weight despite its outstanding optical performance.

Compatibility with a maximum 240-fps high-speed sensor drive realizes high-speed, high-precision auto focusing. Notably, the new lens excels in video recording performance. In addition to the silent operation achieved by the inner focus drive system, the step-less aperture ring and micro-step drive system in the aperture control section help the camera to smoothly catch up to brightness changes when zooming or panning. The optical design achieves exceptional barycentric stability to minimize image shifts during zooming. Adoption of a focus clutch mechanism enables instant AF/MF switching and accurate manual focusing. The LEICA DG VARIO-SUMMILUX 10-25mm / F1.7 ASPH. also excels in performance with a mechanism that suppresses focus breathing, which was a problem of interchangeable lenses designed for still image photography.

The rugged dust/splash-resistant*1 design withstands use under harsh conditions even in 10 degrees below zero for high mobility. Nine blades give the aperture a rounded shape that produces an attractively smooth defocus effect in out-of-focus areas when shooting at larger aperture settings. Filter diameter is 77mm. Highly reliable metal mount ensures long term use.

The LEICA DG VARIO-SUMMILUX 10-25mm / F1.7 ASPH has a recommended retail price of £1,799.99 (Ireland €2,079.99) and will be available from 15th July 2019.

Panasonic is committed to expanding the line of Micro Four Thirds line up through its LUMIX G series of cameras and lenses.

* As a digital interchangeable lens for a mirrorless camera, as of 31st May 2019 *1 Dust and Splash Resistant does not guarantee that damage will not occur if this lens is subjected to direct contact with dust and water. Design and specifications are subject to change without notice.

On the 25th of April 2019, LUMIX collaborated with photographic community UK Shooters for an exclusive event held for portrait photographers. Hosted in the lively area of Spitalfields in the East End of London, photo enthusiasts from around the country came together for a day packed of portrait photography opportunities as well as the chance to test and try out the new LUMIX S Series.

Paired with unexcepted bank holiday sun, the session was complete with pre-prepared camera set-ups and a variety of models for the ultimate portrait photography event. Available for each photographer was the new LUMIX S1 and LUMIX S1R – cameras perfectly equipped for handling the demands of portrait photography thanks to their large CMOS sensors (24.2-megapixel and 47.3-megapixel respectively) and auto-focus precision.

Alongside our experienced LUMIX team at the event were photography influencers Drew Buckler (@drewbuckler) and Benjamin Dunford (@whoisbenjamin). With over 87,000 followers between them, their portraits are often being reposted by communities and held in high regard in the photographic community. Drew and Benjamin both use the LUMIX S Series for capturing portraits and helped fellow photographers at the event use the camera to get the most out of their settings. Portrait photography can often require practice in order to get the most from the model and camera, so Drew and Benjamin decided to give us a few tips on how to achieve the best portrait images.

1. Styling and Model

It can be a challenge working with models, especially those you haven’t worked with before. To make it more interactive, try coming up with ideas together and look for opportunities to add depth to your images. This might include flowers, windows or even long grass. Making the model feel part of it will help you create an atmosphere where you can be creative and find what you’re looking for.

2. Work With The Camera

Take an image and learn from it. Whether that be the camera settings, the objects in the frame or the posing of the model, listen to other people and experiment to find the perfect angle. Show the models the back of the camera and let them know how it’s going. Collaboration is key!

3. Lighting is Key

Always think about your lighting. Avoid taking photographs during the day: the best lighting happens during golden hour either just after sunrise or before sunset. If you’re taking images in low light, keep the light behind or at a slight angle. This will keep the bright light off the models’ face and add contrast to the image.

4. Lenses

Lenses are an important part of shooting portraits. What lens you’re using and at what focal length will determine the depth of your image, so be sure to experiment when you can and research what lens will work best for the type of portraits you are wanting to achieve. Tip: Benjamin recommends shooting at around f.28 for a nice bokeh with the face still in focus!

5. Camera Bag

Always bring inspiration and be prepared for anything! Along with your camera equipment, try bringing along things that might help make your images pop. This could be some props like flowers or glasses, reflections/diffusers, or simpler items such as hair bands or brushes for the models to use.

The LUMIX GX Series is known for providing a variety of unique functions to enjoy taking selfies and the new GX880 is no exception. A richer variety of in-camera beauty functions and airbrush effects enable users more creative control over their portraits.

The 3.0-inch 1040K-dot static type touch control monitor boasts a 180-degree tiltable structure. When the monitor is flipped up, the camera automatically activates Self Shot mode. In conventional selfie pictures, users have to stretch their arms to hold the camera, however, the hands-free selfie capability of the GX880 allows users to use their hands as they like, resulting in freer, more expressive posing. Face Shutter and Buddy Shutter functions can also be used to trigger the shutter release when a face is covered for a moment with a waving hand or when two faces come close together in a frame.

4K PHOTO Self Shot mode now supports a wider angle of view without cropping the frame. This feature makes it easy to capture more background and scenery, and is perfect for large group selfies. In burst mode, the user can choose the best frame after shooting 30fps in 4K resolution meaning you can always capture the perfect photo opportunity.

The LUMIX GX880 enables more impressive selfie shooting with new Night Mode. In this mode, both the front subject and the background are captured separately in one press, then synthesized together through automatic shooting and composition for a more vibrant night scene image.

In addition, Background Control mode lets users decide whether to capture the background in or out of focus to make the subject stand out.

Ultra-high-definition 4K video and 4K PHOTO for unmissable moments

With its high-speed signal readout of the sensor and engine processing, the LUMIX GX880 records smooth, high-resolution 4K videos in 3840x2160 resolution at 30p / 25p(50Hz Area) or 24p in addition to the Full-HD 1,920 x 1,080 60p / 50p(50Hz Area) videos with practical full-time AF.

Users can utilise the 4K PHOTO technology to capture fleeting photo opportunities at 30 fps by extracting the best frame out of a 4K burst file to save as a photo. In 4K PHOTO, three modes can be chosen from depending on the situation; 4K Burst, 4K Burst (Start/Stop) and 4K Pre-burst. All of these functions in 4K PHOTO let the user save pictures in 8-megapixel equivalent high resolution, which is good enough for printing in A3 size, and help to avoid missing those spur-of-the-moment shots.

The LUMIX GX880 also comes with a Post Focus function, giving users the power to decide exactly what they want in focus even after taking the picture. The Focus Stacking function also enables users to adjust the depth of field after shooting by combining multiple images. Users do not need to focus strictly while shooting as they can obtain the image with the defocus level that they want or pan-focus the image by simply selecting the focus area afterwards. This is beneficial when shooting macro shots where strict focusing is required.

High image quality with true-to-life detail and impressive colour reproduction

The LUMIX GX880 lets users shoot vibrant, true-to-life high quality images with excellent resolution, high contrast and impressive colour reproduction. By removing the low-pass filter, the resolution has been improved while detecting high-frequency components to suppress the generation of moire by the Venus Engine. The Venus Engine reproduces vibrant, impressive colours for images such as clear skies by dividing the hue, saturation, and luminosity, and finely adjusts them separately. The combination of the Digital Live MOS Sensor and the Venus Engine achieves clear image rendering with minimum noise even in low-lit situations and at max.ISO 25600.

The Contrast AF achieves high-speed, high-precision focusing with digital signal communication at max. 240 fps. Furthermore, the DFD (Depth From Defocus) technology*1 calculates the distance to the subject by evaluating two images with different sharpness levels while consulting the data for the optical characteristics of the current lens in a moment. As a result, the LUMIX GX880 achieves an ultra-high-speed AF of approx.0.07 sec*2. A multi-processing capability achieves high speed burst shooting at 5.8 fps (AFS) / 5 fps (AFC) to capture fast-moving subjects in crisp focus.

The Low Light AF makes it possible to set focus on the subject more precisely even without an AF assist lamp in extremely low-lit situations down to -4EV, which is as dark as under moonlight. Plus, the LUMIX GX880 features Starlight AF which allows users to shoot a star in the sky at night with auto focus. This is achieved by accurately calculating the contrast value in a smaller AF zone. A total of 49 focus detection areas enable more flexible composition together with the Custom Multi AF mode in which users can freely select the blocks to focus on out of these focusing areas. In addition to conventional face recognition AF, the LUMIX GX880 incorporates face/eye detection AF which automatically focuses directly on the eye of a human face. With Pinpoint AF, users can magnify the target area for a more precise focus.

*1 Contrast AF with DFD Technology works only with Panasonic Micro Four Thirds lenses.*2 In AFS, at wide-end with H-FS14140 (CIPA).Easy wireless connectivity via Wi-Fi® with smartphones

The LUMIX GX880 integrates Wi-Fi® connectivity (IEEE 802.11 b/g/n) to offer a more flexible shooting experience and instant image sharing with easy operation. Once connecting the camera and smartphone/tablet installing Panasonic's dedicated application software Panasonic Image App for iOS / Android, users can shoot, browse and share images remotely.

Using the remote control, it is possible to capture selfies while jumping with the Jump Snap function. The smartphone held by the subject detects when they are at the highest position and the camera automatically releases the shutter.

Other Features include:

Scene Guide

The Scene Guide* offers 21 sample pictures shot by professional photographers. Users can choose the one closest to their shooting situation and optimum parameters for shooting the scene will be automatically set. The shooting procedure, technical advice and recommended interchangeable lens for the scene can also be shown to users.

Panasonic today unveiled a transparent OLED concept display at Salone del Mobile, the world’s largest and most prestigious furniture and lifestyle exhibition. The innovative concept is being presented as part of the installation by Vitra, the Swiss furniture brand.

The transparent OLED display, which resembles a glass cabinet, is crafted from a wooden frame holding what appears to be a pane of glass. As such it blends naturally into any contemporary living space. However, the moment the device is switched on, it transforms into a vivid OLED display.

The transparent OLED is the result of a conceptual research project by Panasonic and Vitra. Through a series of workshops Vitra provided expertise in furniture and space design which was combined with Panasonic’s focus on using advanced technologies to improve lives. As a result a number of ideas about how new technologies can be used to seamlessly integrate audiovisual devices into our living space were developed. The transparent OLED display is the first of these ideas to come to fruition.

The transparent OLED display converts from a passive object into a lively and dynamic element, from something meant to be seen into something meant to be watched.

Designed by Scandinavian based designer Daniel Rybakken and Panasonic Design Kyoto, the OLED display consists of materials such as wood, metal and glass. The technological components are cleverly concealed within the wooden frame, which doubles as a stand for the device. A lightning element, which enhances the viewing and ambient experience, is also directly and unobtrusively housed within the frame.

Panasonic has not announced plans to commercially market this transparent OLED display, but said that it is actively evaluating feedback about the device and looking into market demands.

The OLED display will be on show at Vitra’s stand (Booth B07/C12, Hall 20) at the Salone del Mobile from today until 14 April.

For the sharpest shots, the LUMIX G90 includes 5-axis Dual I.S. (Image Stabiliser) 2 which combines OIS (Optical Image Stabiliser) with BIS (Body Image Stabiliser) to compensate for movement while shooting up to an equivalent of 5-stops shutter speed. 5-axis Dual IS 2 works for both photo and video, including 4K video for the smoothest possible footage.

High-speed autofocus (AF) acquisition of 0.07sec, along with high-speed burst shooting at 9fps (AF-S) or 6fps (AF-C) helps to capture sharp shots of fast-moving subjects. Using Depth From Defocus (DFD) technology, the G90 also tracks moving subjects, allowing the user to adjust the sensitivity settings to tailor the AF-behaviour to the shooting subject.

Face / Eye Detection AF automatically detects human faces for sharp eye focus, while other focusing modes include Pinpoint AF for targeting precise areas, Low Light AF which has been optimised for shooting when light levels drop, and Custom Multi AF which allows users to select blocks from 49 focus detection areas. For manual focusing, Focus Peaking is available.

Improved design and ergonomics
  • New buttons for easy reach of key functions

  • Redesigned grip for comfortable and stable shooting

  • Splash/Dust-resistant design

The LUMIX G90 has been redesigned for easy one-handed operation. Three new buttons are located in-line on the top plate for adjusting exposure, ISO and white balance. Buttons on the back are positioned around the wheel dial for quick access to various settings in both shooting and playback. Front and rear dials enable direct setting and can be configured to individual preference.

Image composition is done via the large OLED Live Viewfinder with 2,360k-dot resolution, 100% field of view and 0.74x magnification or the three-inch OLED rear monitor with 1040k-dot resolution, free-angle movement and touch-sensitivity.

The rugged design of the G90 starts a body constructed of a magnesium alloy full die cast front frame and goes to a redesigned grip for more comfortable and stable shooting. To be ready in every condition, LUMIX G90 is splash/dust-resistant*1 thanks to sealing for every joint, dial and button.

*1 Dust and Splash Resistant does not guarantee that damage will not occur if the camera is subject to direct contact with dust and water. Video functionality

The LUMIX G90 is a true hybrid camera, with equal importance given to its extensive video capability.

It can record unlimited 4K video (3840x2140) at 30p/25p (50Hz Area)/30p (60Hz) or 24p in addition to Full HD (1920x1080) at 60p/50p (50Hz Area), 60p (60Hz Area) with full-time AF. High Speed Video can also be utilised to record slow-motion video in Full HD at 120fps (1/4x), 90fps (1/3x) and 60fps (1/2x).

Real-time image output to an external monitor in 4:2:2 / 8-bit*1 via an optional micro HDMI cable is available, while V-Log L is pre-installed for wider dynamic range for colour rendering in post-production. Additionally, a 3.5mm microphone jack for high-quality audio recording is included, as well as a headphone socket.

The G90 features LUMIX’s well-known 4K Photo modes. Giving users the ability to extract fleeting moments at 30fps from a 4K video, it’s now even easier thanks to a new Auto Marking function which automatically detects frames with changes to the image. Sequence Composition has also been added for creating “stromotion” images by combining multiple images into one shot for a fun effect.

*1 4:2:0 8-bit recording on an SD Memory Card. Creative controls

As well as providing Automatic, Semi-Automatic and Manual modes, the G90 features a range of options to help you unleash your creativity, including:

  • Post Focus / Focus Stacking and Bracketing modes

  • Versatile Photo Styles including dynamic monochrome

  • Live View Composite Recording

Utilising the power of DFD (Depth From Defocus) AF technology and combining it with 4K Photo, the G90 gives you the option to change the focus point after the image has been taken (Post Focus Mode). You can also make use of the Focus Stacking function to adjust depth of field by combining multiple images. Users can also shoot a maximum of 999 images can be shot with different focus points using newly added Focus Bracketing, while Aperture Bracket allows for different depth of fields to be shot and selected from later.

Adding to the many Photo Styles known from LUMIX cameras, G90 allows to shoot dynamic monochrome images with emphasised highlights and shadows while preserving details. L.Monochrome D is added to standard Monochrome and L.Monochrome and provides even darker depth tones. All monochrome modes can be combined with a grain effect for filmic results.

Newly added Live View Composite Recording is useful for shooting fireworks or stars in the night sky. This function releases the shutter at designated intervals, combining areas of high brightness in a single picture, while keeping the background the same.

Powerful performance

A new power-saving function is introduced for the G90, automatically putting the camera to sleep after a set period of inactivity detected by the eye sensor. A half-press of the shutter button reawakens the camera ready for shooting, resulting in a long battery life of approximately 900 images per charge.*1

For even more power, a Battery Grip (DMW-BGG1) is also available. As well as increasing battery life, it adds a set of extra controls for more comfortable vertical shooting. Just like the G90, the DMW-BGG1 boasts a rugged, splash and dust resistant design.*2

Sharing your shots live from the scene has never been more important. With integrated Bluetooth 4.2 and Wi-Fi 2.4GHz you can update your friends and family no matter where you are. Bluetooth Low Energy enables a constant connection with minimal power consumption for simple and quick sharing, as well as optional automatic GPS tagging.

*[1] Under the test conditions specified by Panasonic based on CIPA standard. When the sleep mode timer is set to 3 seconds.*2 Dust and Splash Resistant does not guarantee that damage will not occur if the camera is subject to direct contact with dust and water. Price and availability

  • Celebrate the joy of cooking from scratch with innovative technologies

  • Enhanced social dining experiences with new microwave ovens

Panasonic has today announced the introduction of its new microwave ovens, extending its small kitchen appliance range for healthy fresh food. New technological innovations and outstanding designs embody Panasonic’s Experience Fresh philosophy, ensuring the preparation of food is as enjoyable as its consumption.

The new line-up of microwave ovens include the NN-CD87 slimline combination microwave oven and the ST Series, solo microwave ovens with Inverter technology – the NN-ST48K / NN-ST46K / NN-ST45K. It also comprises the new 20L NN-S29K solo microwave oven.

Completing the announcement of Panasonic’s new microwave ovens is the new built-in HL range. With integrated Inverter technology and user-friendly auto programmes, it has never been easier to experience fresh gourmet meals with minimal effort.

Experience Fresh with ease every day

The Panasonic Experience Fresh brand concept celebrates the joy of fresh food and creates social experiences for you and your loved ones. Consisting of three pillars focused on innovative technologies, joyful and healthy cooking and memorable social experiences, Panasonic applies its brand concept to the creation of its small kitchen appliances.

Inspired by timeless Japanese culture, cooking techniques and technologies, where food is prepared from scratch, each appliance has been expertly designed and manufactured to enable cooks of any level to truly enjoy healthy cooking with ease.

The ultimate microwave oven for families

Experience Fresh makes delicious cooking a simple pleasure and part of everyday life.

This is embodied in the new NN-CD87 Slimline combination microwave oven, which is packed full of innovative features.

The first is the Genius Sensor that monitors steam levels to achieve optimal heating and cooking results without the guesswork. As the microwave oven checks the heat through the steam from food, it is able to adjust the time required without human intervention. Several Auto Menus work with the Genius sensor so that you don’t have to set the time or weight of ingredients to ensure the correct cooking or reheating time has been applied. The NN-CD87 also features a ‘One-Push Reheating’ button, which instructs the Genius Sensor to calculate the exact reheating time required automatically with absolute ease.

The microwave oven additionally includes Panasonic’s microwave Inverter technology, which controls power precisely to cook food gently and evenly, resulting in nutrients being preserved. Whether heating baby food, poaching eggs, baking cakes or defrosting steaks, you can evenly heat and defrost even the most sensitive foods in record time.

The Junior Menu programme of the NN-CD87 enables you to cook useful and healthy auto menus for kids.

All this is achieved in a new slim design due to the integration of the fan at the top, rather than the back of the oven. The position of the fan has resulted in a 15% space-saving compared to conventional 34 litre capacity ovens.

Microwave ovens that meet all needs

The new line-up of microwave ovens launched today include the ST series NN-ST48K / NN-ST46K / NN-ST45K solo microwave ovens with Inverter technology.

Catering for family mealtimes with a respective 32L capacity, the ST series makes social occasions even easier with technological innovations extended across each series, which include the Genius Sensor for perfect cooking and reheating results, and the new Junior Menu programme for vegetable purees, fruit purees and porridge.

The ST solo microwave ovens have a modern, elegant design and feature black, stainless steel and white models.

A new line 20L microwave oven has also been announced– the NN-S29K solo microwave oven. The model has a premium stainless steel front for easy integration into any kitchen environment.

Microwave ovens designed with sleek integration in mind

In addition to the new NN-CD87 and ST series, Panasonic is today announcing the introduction of three new built-in combination microwave oven models.

Available in both stainless steel and black colourways, the HL-SF498 4-in-1 combination microwave oven boasts TFT touch full colour display, 74 auto programmes and integrated inverter technology. Equipping its user with steam, convection oven, grill and microwave functionality, it has never been easier to expand your culinary horizons with a single touch.

Sitting alongside the HL-SF498 in the range is the new HL-SX485. Also available in stainless steel and black, the 4-in-1 model includes 65 user-friendly auto programmes and a sleek touch control panel.

Completing the new Panasonic built-in range is the HL-MX465 3-in-1 convection oven, grill and microwave. The model features a blue LED display and integrated inverter technology. With 44 auto programmes designed with the end-user in mind, cooking for family mealtimes or dinner parties with friends becomes easy to manage and doesn’t require any compromise in terms of nutrition or taste. The HL-MX465 is also available in both stainless steel and black.

  • Panasonic introduces four OLED series in 2019, doubling its 2018 OLED line-up

  • All OLEDs and most 4K LCDs support HDR10+ and Dolby Vision

  • All OLEDs and most 4K LCDs support Dolby Atmos

  • Combination of HCX PRO Intelligent processor and tuning by Hollywood results in exceptional advances in picture quality to all OLEDs and flagship LCD model

  • Almost all models support new HLG Photo format for HDR stills

At CES last month Panasonic launched its flagship OLED TV for 2019, the GZ2000 – the ‘world’s most cinematic TV’. Now, some of the GZ2000’s most desirable features, including its headline-making support for HDR10+, Dolby Vision and Dolby Atmos are made available across Panasonic’s entire OLED and LCD TV 2019 models apart from the entry-level 4K LCD series*.

For 2019, Panasonic is doubling the number of its OLED series to four – comprised of the GZ2000, GZ1500, GZ1000 and GZ950 – all of which boast Panasonic's ultra-powerful HCX PRO Intelligent processor. As well as supporting next-generation dynamic metadata formats HDR10+ and Dolby Vision, all OLED models share the same fine tuning by Hollywood colourist Stefan Sonnenfeld. All OLED models are planned to UHD Premium certified.

This year also sees three new 4K LCD series: the GX920, GX800 and GX700. The flagship GX920 – available only in 75-inch screen size – is, like the OLED screens, powered by the new HCX Pro Intelligent processor and is likewise compatible with Dolby Vision and HDR10+.

Of course, it’s not just pictures that makes a TV cinematic, sound is also paramount. And while the GZ2000 series features innovative built-in upward-firing speakers for the most immersive surround sound, all other models (except the GX700 4K LCDs) also support Dolby Atmos.

All OLED screens and LCD model down to the GX800, support HLG Photo, the new still image format which brings stills photography into the HDR world. All OLED models also work with popular voice assistants so can integrate seamlessly with a Smart Home setup.

HCX PRO Intelligent processor delivers superior panel control and dynamic HDR to all new OLED screens

All models support HDR10+ and Dolby Vision plus static HDR formats

All four OLED series come in both 65-inch and 55-inch screen sizes. While the GZ2000 boasts a bespoke Professional Edition 4K OLED panel exclusively customised by Panasonic R&D engineers, all OLED models including the GZ950, GZ1000 and GZ1500 have state-of-the-art picture processing courtesy of the HCX PRO Intelligent processor – the most powerful ever made by Panasonic. They also all support HDR10, HDR10+, Dolby Vision, HLG and HLG Photo, ensuring complete compatibility with all current commercially available HDR formats. Whatever the source the viewer is guaranteed the most compelling, dynamic images possible on a TV screen.

All screens have sound systems equipped for Dolby Atmos. The GZ2000 benefits from world’s first built-in upward-firing speakers capable of delivering Dolby Atmos as part of a total audio system with a Jeno engine and tuned by Technics. The GZ1500 has its own elegant and compact Blade Speaker built directly into the base of the TV. Thanks in part to its powerful front-firing speaker units, the GZ1500 delivers a highly compelling surround soundstage.

Panasonic’s 4K LCDs: covering all the HDR options

Majority of models support HDR10, HLG, HDR10+ and Dolby Vision

High Dynamic Range in all its guises features in the 4K LCD range. Even the entry-level GX700 series (40-inch, 50-inch, 58-inch, 65-inch) which has a 4K Studio Colour Engine, offers support for regular HDR10+, HDR10 and HLG (Hybrid Log Gamma). Stepping up to an HCX processor, the GX800 series (40-inch, 50-inch, 58-inch, 65-inch) adds also support for Dolby Vision – and on the audio front, it adds Dolby Atmos to the mix.

With a faster, 100Hz screen refresh rate and an HCX PRO Intelligent processor, the 75-inch flagship GX920 embraces the same broad roster of HDR formats as the OLED screens including the nascent HLG Photo format. The HCX PRO Intelligent processor rapidly analyses and optimises the colour, contrast and clarity of all 4K video content, ensuring viewers experience the best possible TV pictures available regardless of their source.

Cutting-edge Panasonic panels tuned by Hollywood

Leading colourist works with Panasonic to guarantee viewers see what the filmmaker intended

All OLED TVs are a knockout combination of Panasonic’s technological accuracy with the colour-tuning skills of Stefan Sonnenfeld. Sonnenfeld is among a handful of leading artists who has championed the power of colour grading to tell stories and communicate emotion. He is a trusted collaborator of some of the world’s best filmmakers and has applied his skills as a colourist to many of the most acclaimed and popular features of the past decade such as A Star is Born, Wonder Woman, Man of Steel, Star Wars: The Force Awakens, Jurassic World and many more. Like many other leading colourists, he uses Panasonic OLED screens as large-format client reference monitors in his daily workflow.

Panasonic’s latest OLED and LCD screens are effortlessly able to reproduce tricky scenes of variable brightness and contrast – often found in live sports broadcasts and in action movies. This rare talent, combined with the exceptional colour-optimising skills of Sonnenfeld, has resulted in a range of Panasonic TVs that deliver highly accurate, truly cinematic images.

HDR: no longer just for moving images

HLG Photo allows HDR stills photographs to be fully appreciated on TV

HDR has existed in the world of stills photography for some time but has gained little traction because the formats used (often featured on smartphones) have not been compatible with the TV screens on which more and more of us like to view our snaps. That all changes as of now thanks to HLG Photo, an HDR format for stills that uses the HLG profile. All of Panasonic’s new OLED screens and LCD screens down to GX800 are compatible with HLG Photo – as featured on some of Panasonic’s latest LUMIX cameras. By partnering a Panasonic HLG Photo television with a compatible camera, viewers can now marvel at the most natural-looking images with wider dynamic range when they look at their cherished holiday photographs.

My Home Screen 4.0 takes smart TV to the next level

Panasonic’s new My Home Screen 4.0 with a redesigned GUI allows the viewer to further tailor the TV user interface to their own preference with more freedom and flexibility. The layout of the home screen can be reconfigured to allow customized layouts. Access to VOD and broadcast content is also easier thanks to a redesigned GUI that includes icons for decks that provide shortcuts to live TV, connected devices and apps such as Netflix, Amazon and YouTube. Users can even add frequently watched TV stations to the home screen.

*Dolby Vision support from GX800 and above only.
