When Does The Penis Stop Growing? The normal growth length of the penis is between 21 and 22 cm, provided you do not use any external help. This is the case in up to 87% of men.  The length may not be up to this in men that are having what is called micropenis.  In this condition, the penis is non-existent, or its growth stops too fast.

Most times, many young men do compare the length of their penis to those of other men. This is a normal inquiry by men as part of their development. It is important if you are planning to be sexually active or going through normal biological changes.  When you find yourself showering with your friends in the locker room, for example, you may be compelled to find out if you “measure up” or not.  The common question on the minds of many young men has to do with if they measure up or not with their peers or other men around them.

What is a human penis?

Prior to going further on the answer to when does the penis stop growing, a brief description of the human penis is being explained here. The human penis is the external male genital that can also serve as the urinary organ. The various parts of the male genital are the epithelium, the body (also called corpus) and the root (also called the radix).  Other parts are the glans penis, foreskin (which is the prepuce), foreskin and shaft skin.  Three columns are present in the body; they are corpus spongiosum located on the ventral side, which is sandwiched between two corpora carvenosa on the dorsal side.  The urethra in the male organ is found passing through the prostate gland. It joins the ejaculatory duct at this point, after which it passes through the penis.  The urethra lies through the corpus spongiosum. The opening of the penis is meatus, and it is found on the tip of the glans penis. Its functions include ejection of the semen and urination.

There is a particular age within which the penis can grow, just like humans. To answer the question, when does the penis stop growing, it is imperative to know that the penis starts growing from the puberty stage and ends when puberty ends. The growth in the height of humans, on the other hand, starts from birth until they reach around 22 years.

When erect, the penis tends to increase in size and length.  When not erect, it is rather difficult to notice any increase in length. The growth in length occurs within few years, but the number of years for growth is fewer in some other sets of people.  The penis continues to grow without any external help until the age of 22. The growth can, however, continue indefinitely via jelqing and penis enlargement exercises.

Genetic issues also create answers to the question- When does the penis stop growing? Individuals having micropenis challenges may not experience any growth in penis length. This is usually because micropenis is due to certain genetic problems. The genetic problems can prevent penile growth.  About 12% of men experience growth in their penis length for just a few years. And they end up with a length between 1.9 and 2.3 inches penis length; that is, 5 to 6 inches.  It can be due to health problems or normal genetic condition.  As a result, many of their girlfriends of these men find them to be incapable of sexual satisfaction.

The penis stops growing between the ages of 19 and 22. But in some individuals, it can stop growing by the age of 17.  A number of factors determine how it grows in millimeters or inches. This growth is usually fixed between 0.5 cm and 0.19 inches per year. However, variation occurs in certain individuals.

Up to 30 viruses, parasite and bacteria are responsible for STD. These organisms can only continue to survive via sexual contact spread. STDs are as old as human existence. Virtually every human will experience at least one type in their lifetime. 19 million new cases of STDs are being reported per year according to the Center for Diseases Control and Prevention (CDC).  This is undoubtedly a major public health problem.  Up to 24,000 women have infertility per year due to untreated STDs.

Circumcision represents the removal of folds of skin, papule or foreskin from the glans of the penis.

The foreskin varies in size and it may not even present in some cases. The glans gets covered by the foreskin if it is not removed via circumcision.

Difference between a circumcised and uncircumcised person

The uncircumcised penis still has the foreskin in place, while the circumcised one does not; this is basically the only difference between the two of them.

Possible problems with foreskin

Some problems may come up with the non-removal of the foreskin are:

  • Formation of scar tissue on the tip of the penis, which is a rare condition. The penis may not be able to pull back due to the tightening of the foreskin around it
  • Permanent damage can occur to the penis when it is trapped by the foreskin after it is pulled back; this is a medical emergency.
  • The inability of the foreskin to pull back behind the head if it is too tight

Penis head can become infected or inflamed.  Never delay in seeing your doctor when you notice any of the problems described above.

These bones determine the structure of our bodies and carry out so many functions. Bones aren’t just packs of hard mineral, they are actually classified as organs, and are very much alive.

They come in different categories, shapes and densities. In this article, we will be focusing on the largest bone in the body.

If you didn’t know, the largest bone in your body is your thigh bone (femur) while the smallest bone in your body is called stapes, found in your ear.

In this post- What Are The Largest And Smallest Bones In The Body, we will be giving you some interesting facts you probably didn’t know about these two awesome bones.

What Are The Largest And Smallest Bones In The Body 10 Facts About Your Femur
  1. It is the longest bone your body, making up as much a quarter of your entire height. Tall people tend to have longer femurs.
  2. It is also the heaviest and strongest bone in your body, weighing about 260 grams but stronger than concrete.
  3. It has three main parts: a head, a neck, and a body.
  4. It connects with your pelvis to form the hip joint. The head of the femur is shaped like a ball which fits into the acetabular surface of the pelvis to form the hip joint.
  5. Due to the fact that is the only bone in the thigh, it supports almost all your body’s weight when you walk, stand, run or jump.
  6. Its lower end forms the knee joint along with the tibia, fibula, and patella (kneecap).
  7. Its ends are covered by cartilage, a connective tissue that protects it from being damaged. When cartilage is broken down, arthritis starts. Arthritis is a common cause of back of knee pain, especially in old people. People with arthritis often need to have painkillers often and get use some mobility equipment to move around easily.
  8. More than 40 muscles and ligaments attach to the femur at different locations, helping to stabilize and move it when we carry out certain movements.
  9. It is a hollow bone, what this means is that it isn’t entirely solid all through, its structure resembles a thick tube with a central space.
  10. It is a site for the manufacture of blood cells. Blood cells are made in the marrow of long bones, like in the hollow part of the femur.
  11. It takes a very high amount of force to fracture this bone. This is because it is very strong and heavily surrounded by dense and powerful muscles. High forces like those generated from car accidents or falls from heights can fracture the femur or even lead to a dislocated knee.
  12. Because of how mobile and strong the femur is, when it is fractured, surgery is often carried out to unite its broken ends by means of a connecting metal implant.
5 Facts About Stapes- The Smallest Bone In Your Body
  1. Along with malleus and incus, the stapes bone is found in your middle ear. Collectively, these three bones are termed ossicles.
  2. In line with the answer to the question, what are the largest and smallest bones in the body, stapes are recognised as the smallest bones in the body, measuring about 3 mm by 2.5 mm. The three ossicles are so small that they can easily fit together on the surface of a penny.
  3. It works in the transmission of sound vibrations from the outer to inner ear. They are extremely sensitive, vibrating in response to sound and transmitting these to structures in the inner ear.
  4. It is also the lightest bone in the body but so important. Without these small ear bones, you won’t be able to hear.
  5. It is also called the stirrup- because it looks like one. The Latin name for a stirrup is ‘stapes’, a stirrup is the ring frame that is stepped on in the process of mounting an animal like a horse.

Red Bumps On The Penis: What Could It Mean? Describing red bumps on the penis is difficult.  The red bumps are usually harmless and common.  Red bumps on the penis can be caused by several factors. It can be due to a harmless condition, like condom-induced allergies or dermatitis, eczema, etc.  At other times, the appearance of red bumps can be an indication of sexually transmitted diseases (STDs).

What can cause red bumps on the penis? 1. If it occurs when you have never been involved in sexual intercourse;

The red bumps may be ordinary pimples if you have never had sex before. It may also be as a result of ingrown hairs or a skin cyst.  You do not need to worry about these issues; they are just common occurrences. A penile papule is yet another possible cause of red bumps. The whitish bumps come upon the head of the penis and can also come up on the edge of the glans.  They can also appear whitish. You will never experience any harm from conditions like ingrown hairs, cysts, papules, and pimples.  They can, however, get infected if you attempt to pop them.

2. If it occurs when you have had sex;

The appearance of red bumps on the penis can be due to STD if you are having sex or have had sex in the past.  If it appears as painful ulcers, blisters or bumps, then it may be due to conditions like herpes.  Another condition that can appear as red bumps on the penis is genital warts, which is caused by human papillomavirus (HPV). They are hard to see and have an irregular shape. They are also not painful at all.  Syphilis can lead to a painless ulcer also.  Another infection that can lead to the formation of red bumps is molluscum contagiosum; it can be spread via sexual intercourse and manifests as painless, small bumps.

Not all STDs lead to painful bumps. Be that as it may, they can lead to complicated health status if not quickly addressed.

Other causes of red bumps on the penis                     1. Razor burn

Recently shaved skins are the usual ground for razor burns. It can result in irritation and redness. It can also lead to minor cuts. A combination of pus-filled bumps and ingrown hairs can occur if the area gets healed.

The razor burn can get healed on its own. Oatmeal-Based body lotion can be applied on the area to soothe the irritation on the skin.  This lotion should be applied every time after you shave and this can prevent irritation in the future.

2. Fordyce spot

When the sebaceous gland becomes visible, it is called a Fordyce spot.  The sebaceous gland can normally be found under the hair follicles, but only found in areas that do not have hair, like the penis. The spots that result from this are either yellow or white.

If you see Fordyce spot in your mouth, then it means you also have it on your penis.  The condition can have up to 50 or even 100 spots in a cluster at once.

It is harmless but can cause an aesthetic problem. It can be managed via certain dermatologic procedures, like laser therapy.  Another treatment option is Isotretinoin.

3. Tyson glands

They are visible sebaceous glands. These bumps can be found around the frenulum; they can also be found in the small tissue folds under the penis.

The spots that result may be yellow or white. It is also usually small in size.  They need no treatment since they are harmless.

4. Folliculitis

Hair follicle inflammation can cause a formation of bumps close to the base of the pubic hair. The red bumps that result have a relationship with the condition called folliculitis.  The bumps may be itchy and painful.

This condition can get resolved naturally without applying any treatment. If the condition is, however, recurring or stubborn, you can apply topical antimicrobials.  This can prevent future inflammation aside from clearing any existing pump.

5. Pearly penile papules

Coronae glandis, hirsuties or papules are protrusions from the flesh around the glans.  They are judged to be part of the normal anatomy of the penis and have no relationship to acne. They also produce oil which moisturizes the glans.

6. Lymphocele lumps

Masturbation or sexual activity can lead to lymphocele lumps. It manifests via swollen areas along the penile shaft due to blocked lymph fluids.

The lumps and effects only occur temporarily. The symptoms can also resolve on their own without treatment.

When you should see a doctor

Most times, complications do not occur before the red bumps clear off, especially if the affected individual had never had sex before. You should, however, see the doctor fast if there is no improvement in the condition.

You should contact the doctor if you notice any of the symptoms below:

  • Bumps that have changing texture, shape or size
  • Widespread rash
  • Oozing pus

This can be a sign of an underlying condition or of infection. Your doctor can carry out clinical examination on you to diagnose the symptoms and develop a helpful care plan that is specific to what you need.

Ingrown Hair On Penis; Ingrown hair on the penis looks more like a bump formed by a pimple on the penile shaft.  They can be more than one on the penis. They also show up as tan thuds. They are usually filled with pus if they get infected.  The ingrown hair on penis is usually itchy, painful and unpleasant.

Never leave the ingrown hair alone on the penis without treating it, irrespective of the number. If left alone, the bumps can get infected, and it will lead to pus.

What causes ingrown hair on penis? Waxing or shaving

This problem can come up on both men and women after shaving the pubic area. The hair grows back after shaving, and it can curl back and grow inward as the shaved hair is growing back if it encounters any obstruction on the way.  The main factor responsible for this is poor shaving technique. Also, ingrown hair on penis can occur if you fail to prepare the area properly before you cut the hair.

The condition can be severe in some individuals.  In such individuals, it is better to reduce their frequency at which they shave to reduce the frequency of ingrown hair.

Poor shaving

Ingrown hair is equally related to poor shaving techniques. The scrotum and crotch must be shaved properly to prevent the problem. Improper shaving can culminate in truncated hair growth and lead to Ingrown hair.

Genetic predisposition

Genetics can also be the cause of Ingrown hair in places like the beard, pubic region and face.  Individuals having curly, coarse hair may experience this problem any time they shave.

Furthermore, individuals that produce excess sex hormones can have excess hair growth, which can lead to Ingrown hair after they do a close shaving. Pseudofolliculitis is a type of Ingrown hair, and it usually comes up on Latinos and African-Americans that have curly or thick hair.  The doctor can provide you with better treatment options if you have chronic Ingrown hair on penis.

Curly hair

Individuals with curly hair are vulnerable to Ingrown hair.  If the curly hair grows on places like the scrotum and crotch, it can lead to Ingrown Hairs. If curly hair is shaved wrongly, it leaves curly tips that can twist back into the skin and lead to Ingrown hair.  This backward twisting can lead to blockage of skin pores, and new hair will grow inside the skin.

Build up of dead skin cells

Poor bathing practices can lead to dead skin cells the dead skin can build up if you do not get your penile area washed properly. As a result, growing hair cannot pop out of the pores, but will curl back towards the skin and cause the Ingrown hair on the penile shaft.

Blunt razor

Ingrown hair can also develop on the penis when you use a blunt razor for shaving, especially on the penile shaft.  This problem comes up because you will be compelled to shave that single spot several times when you use a blunt razor. The shaved hair will also be driven to the cover the pores.  Ingrown hair and ugly bumps can develop on the scrotum and shaft as a result.

Plugged hair follicles

After shaving, you can experience Ingrown hair if the pores on your penis skin get blocked.  This happens when the hair on the skin curls back into it after obstructing the pores. You will end up with an itchy hair follicle as a result. The Ingrown hair will also compel you to scratch the penile area.  The scratching will get the area irritated and a red or red rash Ingrown hair bump will come up on the penis. The bump may get infected and lead to pimples or pus-filled bump.

  • Dead skin cells get clogged by hair follicles if you fail to exfoliate your skin on a regular basis.
  • The pores of your skin can get blocked if you produce excess oil in the hair follicles
  • Ingrown hair can also occur in individuals having dry skin, according to skincare guide. This is because a lot of dead skin cells are generated by dry skins; the dead skin cells can clog the pores and prevent the growing hair from emerging at the surface.

Ingrown hair on penis can be prevented via proper exfoliation of the penis base and shaft. After shaving, wait for some days and scrub the area well. After the exfoliation, you should avoid shaving for some days. If you do, the skin will get irritated and lead to itching. Bear in mind that hypothyroidism can also lead to excessive oil production in the skin. Other culprits are hormonal problems, poor hygiene and the use of certain creams that can increase oil production in the skin.

Dry scrotum skin

Hair growth can be impeded by dry skin. As a result, hair growth in the scrotum area can be impeded by the dry scrotum.  This is because essential nutrients are lacking in the area for proper hair growth. It is, therefore important to ensure consistent moistening of the area to prevent Ingrown hair.

Excess oil on the penile shaft

Skin pores can be blocked by oily skin.  This blockage can make the hair to curl towards the skin and lead to Ingrown hair.

Ingrown hair on penis can be caused by Keratosis pilaris

Another name for Keratosis pilaris is lichen pilaris; it can also be called follicular pilaris.  The condition is genetic, and the affected individuals usually have chicken skin naturally. The skin will produce rough brown bumps or rough bumps as a result of excess dead skin cells.

Wikipedia says keratosis pilaris is due to excess keratin production on the skin. Keratin is a protein, and its excess production can enter and surround the hair follicles found in the pore. Most of the bumps originating from keratosis pilaris contain coiled Ingrown hair, and it is caused by scrapping off of hair follicles from the keratinized skin and lead to prevention of the hair from surfacing.  The hair found in the pubic area will lead to the formation of inflamed and red bumps.

Too tight clothing

Both men and women now fancy tight clothing these days. Men using such clothing are usually oblivion of the fact that such clothing can cause the development of Ingrown hair on the penile area. One can prevent this by wearing cotton or slightly loose clothing.

Individuals with thick and curly hair usually suffer from Ingrown hair.  It is mainly caused by blocked pores.

Ingrown Hair On Penis: Symptoms

Red bumps are the usual manifestations of Ingrown hair, be it on the penile shaft, base or pubic area.  The pumps may be filled with pus or clear liquid; it may also look like cysts or pimples.  If the bumps get infected, the pus may assume either green or yellow coloration.

The bumps may become painful, irritated or itchy.  The dark, small Ingrown hair may also be visible inside the bumps.

The bumps can also be caused by some other conditions in places like a penile shaft, penile base or pubic area.  Many of these other conditions do not cause any harm. Some examples are given below:

  • Septic spots, which is also called common pimples
  • Irritation, which can result when you rub clothing on the bump
  • Pearly penile papules, which can lead to whitish bumps on the head and shaft of the penis
  • Allergic reaction, which results from the application of lotion or soap.
  • Fordyce spots, which are tiny white or yellowish penile bumps. They have more prominence on darker skin.

Some other conditions can lead to more serious bumps on the penis and pubic area; they should be treated on time. Visit your doctor when you notice any of them. Some examples are given below:

Prevention of Ingrown Hair On Penis

It is essential to prepare your skin before you start shaving it as this can prevent curling back of the hair into the skin. Days before you want to shave, prepare the penile base for a smooth shave.  Follow the tips below to prevent Ingrown Hairs:

  • The shaving must be done following the hair growth direction. The skin will get irritated if you do not follow the direction, leading to curling back of the hair.
  • The pubic area must be exfoliated. Focus on areas of the general groin area, scrotum, and penile base. The hair follicles can sprout easily without any obstruction when you remove dead cells
  • Use only single-bladed razor and get it cleaned after each shaving stroke
  • Do not shave too close to the skin; let a little bit of hair remain on the skin
  • Never forget to use a shaving gel each time you have to shave. Additionally, get the penile shaft and base wet to prevent Ingrown Hairs.

Ingrown hair on penis can occur if you hold the razor too close to the skin or scrape the skin; keep this very important point in mind always while shaving.

What not to do

Ingrown hairs are known to cause itchy bumps. However, it is not safe to scratch it so as not to worsen the irritation.  Aside from worsening the irritation, scratching can equally spread the infection if the bump is infected already.

Other things to consider:
  • Do not wear undergarments or clothing that are too constrictive or cause friction on the affected part
  • The irritated area should be kept dry after you swim, bath or while sweating.
  • The bumps should not be squeezed in an attempt to get them popped.

The Ingrown hairs usually clear off from the skin without getting infected

What are the complications?

Additional fungal or bacterial growth can occur in infected Ingrown hairs if it is not treated on time. Large and painful genital boils can also result from severe infections of the bumps; it can equally lead to swollen lymph nodes.  Raised or red scars can also occur on the groin or pubic area.

Sycosis barbae or Pseudofolliculitis barbae is a staph infection that can result from Ingrown Hairs. Other names for this condition are razor bumps and barber’s itch.

Black men are the ones that fall victims to barber’s itch most commonly.  The condition can come up most frequently on places like the neck and face.  It can also come up on the pubic area, especially if the place is shaved or waxed. You can treat the condition by plucking off the infected hair follicles or using antibiotics.

The best antibacterial agents to treat bumps infection

You can prevent further infection by using a reliable cleaning agent; this is very important if the pumps are already infected and contain pus.

  • Tea tree oil: Several skin infections can be treated using the essential oil contained in tea tree. The oil had been used for treating several skin problems in history. The oil is very important because of its antiviral, antimicrobial, antibacterial and anti-inflammatory properties. The oil should not be applied to the skin directly.  First of all, add four part of vegetable oil to one part of the tea tree oil and mix.  Afterwards, clean the surrounding and head of the Ingrown hairs using a cotton pad. Check first if you have sensitive skin by doing a patch test. You can do a patch test by applying a drop of the mixture to the uninfected part of the skin and find out if you will experience an allergic reaction. If no allergic reaction is recorded from the patch test, then you can apply the mixture on the infected area.
  • Aloe vera: Aloe vera has natural antibacterial and anti-inflammatory properties. Before and after extracting the hair, apply the extract of aloe vera to the affected area to disinfect it. The extract will prevent bacterial infection and reduce inflammation. Additionally, it will heal and soothe the pores after you have removed the hairs.
  • Castor oil: It is a medium with a remarkable healing effect. It works against inflammation and swelling. After you have removed the Ingrown hairs, then apply castor oil, and it will manifest its remarkable therapeutic effect. It can be applied sparingly on the bumps, but it is better used as a pack, which is represented by a piece of white flannel well folded and soaked with castor oil.

You can drain big cysts and Ingrown hairs by first draining them.  You can also use medications to remove Ingrown hairs on places like neck, face, penis, etc

  • Apply hydrocortisone cream on the area two times in a day. The cream can reduce the swelling or inflammation on the bump, thereby making it easy to pull the embedded hair follicle out.

  • You can use benzoyl peroxide or salicylic acid for exfoliating the skin and removing dead skin cells.

No need for treatment for mild cases of folliculitis before it clears up. All you need to do in this situation is to hold back on shaving for some days or a week.  The bumps can get healed fast if you dab a mild antiseptic ointment or cream on the bumps. One of such ointments is tea tree oil. You will only be given antibiotics when the groin, scrotum or penis is infected severely with abscesses and pustules.

Summary

If you do not squeeze or pick the Ingrown hairs, they can disappear on their own in most cases.  The Ingrown hairs that occur too close to the surface of the skin can be easily removed.  Avoiding poor hygienic practices around the penile area can help prevent the development of Ingrown hair on penis.

Holistic Ways to Boost Your Oral Health

Here are 8 holistic ways to boost your oral health:

  1. Oil Pulling

This is an ancient Ayurvedic technique that was recently discovered by the West a few decades ago. It involves an oral detoxification with the simple use of a tablespoon or two of oil. You have to swish this oil around in your mouth for about 10 to 20 minutes to pull the toxins from your mouth after which you must spit the oil out. Make sure not to swallow any of the oil and don’t spit it in your sink as it can clog up your plumbing. Oil pulling is usually done using sesame oil but you can opt to substitute it with coconut oil as well. Make sure to brush and floss regularly as well.

  1. Tongue Scraping

Regular tongue scraping is part of the ways to boost your oral health effectively. Our tongues are great breeding grounds for bacteria and tend to collect a lot of food debris, dead cells and toxins which have a bad effect on your health. A tongue scraper is the best and simplest solution.

Scraping your tongue regularly:

  • Reduces bad breath
  • Prevents cavities and reduces plaque
  • Increases your cardiovascular and respiratory health

  1. Focus on Nutrient Rich Foods

In order to have healthy teeth and long lasting gums, it is essential to include a wide range of nutrient-rich foods in your diet. Following are few nutrition tips for better oral health:

  • Minerals and Vitamins: Increase your consumption of minerals and fat-soluble vitamins which are important for gum health as well. It is advised to get your nutrients by eating organic whole foods as well.
  • Animal foods: You can get your minerals and proteins from quality animal foods like bone broth, grass-fed meats, wild-caught fish and free-range eggs. Other great nutrient-rich foods are vegetables, both raw and cooked.
  • Dairy products: Consume dairy products raw such as cheeses, kefir and grass-fed butter which are full of calcium, vitamin D, magnesium and other nutrients to keep your teeth and bones healthy.
  • Essential Oils: You should also consume coconut oil, cod liver oil and fish to increase your body’s absorption rate of the vitamins you consume.
  • Consume less sugary foods: One of the common causes of tooth decay is consuming high sugar foods. Switch on to fruits and vegetables as they contain less sugar.
  • Avoid Phytic acid: Phytic acid blocks minerals and inhibits enzymes that are found in nuts, grains, beans and seeds. Phytic acid is dangerous for consumption as it has been proven to prevent the absorption of minerals present in your food while leaching the minerals that are already present in your bones and teeth.
  1. Straighter Teeth Can Improve Oral Health

Correcting your placement of teeth back into their natural places will lead to better oral health as badly aligned teeth can make daily oral hygiene a bit difficult which can become more serious over time leading to oral health problems like gum disease, jaw problems, tooth loss and tooth decay. Orthodontic braces are the best option for setting your teeth straight and creating a properly aligned bite but it may seem that the only purpose of braces is to create beautiful smiles at times.

  1. Balancing Your Hormones

Hormones tend to have a huge impact on your oral health as they can control the acid/alkaline balance in your mouth and how well your body can fend off the disease. A lot of us tend to have an imbalance of hormones but factors such as prioritizing on sleep, stress, diet and fighting disease can make all the difference in both your hormone health and oral health.

  1. Applying Neem Oil

Since ancient times people are using neem oil for several purposes due to its medicinal properties. It is obtained from neem seeds and is bitter in taste. As neem oil is antibacterial in nature it keeps away bacteria from causing damage to gums and teeth. Neem oil cures several teeth related problems such as gingivitis, infected gums, tooth decay and improves overall oral health. Hence, if you want to keep your gums and teeth healthy as well as disease free, you must include neem oil in your dental hygiene checklist.

  1. Gargle With Salt Water

Rinsing your mouth with salt water has several dental health benefits. It is best advised to gargle mouth with salt water If you have got a stinky breath, throat sores, soring gums, or undergone dental surgery. The saline solution is proven to be effective in killing bacteria. The salt water initially increases pH value of mouth making the surrounding alkaline for bacteria that breeds more in an acidic environment. Therefore it becomes difficult for such microorganisms to survive and prevents their reproduction. Salt helps in healing wounds and hence it is recommended to have salt water gargles after going through any dental surgery.

  1. Use Aloe vera Gel

Aloe Gel posses wound healing properties due to two important hormones Auxin and Gibberellins. It is mostly advised in treating skin wounds and burns. According to current studies, aloe vera gel has been proven to be very effectual in curing periodontal diseases. It act as an antiseptic in the space where usual cleaning is not feasible and due to its antimicrobial efficacy, it helps in denture-related stomatitis, ulcers and cracks in the mouth. It lessens inflammation, bleeding and swelling of gums.

You can’t tackle oral hygiene in a holistic and effective way without considering the above 8 factors.
