Valid

Marriage is a bond between two persons. They share love, care, respect, and life with one another. But sometimes, marriage ceases. When the marriage contract dissolves, it does not mean that all the responsibilities of both parties also vanish. They are still legally and morally bounded with each other.

One partner may try to escape from his duties, and the other one has to suffer. In such a case, you can consult the law as there are rules and regulations for the safety of rights, especially for women. Here is a list of some rights that women should receive after divorce:

Financial Assistance

Females need assistance during divorce in pending or after divorce. Women who remain in a more extended period in marriage are more favored for financial support. They need time to rehabilitate or lack the financial assistance given the low income compared to their husband. In such cases, they are allowed to avail financial aid from their spouse until the time they gain skills to increase their income or support themselves.

Legal Fees

If your husband is earning more then you and you are involved in divorce proceedings, then he is liable to pay your legal fees. It is not acceptable that he can afford the best attorney, and you cannot. When you have to select an attorney, you can consult anyone while discussing this provision. Your husband will pay your legal fees.

Some jurisdictions set aside a portion of your marital property to set off your legal fees. Otherwise, your husband is liable to do so.

Retirement Plan and Benefits

Rights Women Should Get After Divorce

Retirement plans and Benefits are part of your marriage assets just like your house and other properties and investment that you both share. You can collect your part of the benefit from your husband.

Estimation and calculation of such benefits is a complicated procedure so you must leave it on your attorney who has the relevant skills and experience. We suggest you consult Wilmington NC Family Law Attorney if you want to get the most satisfactory and impressive services along with solutions to your problems.

Share in Marital House

If you, along with your partner, has purchased a house while in marriage, then you have the right to share one of its portions with your husband. This rule is applicable even if you have not contributed to the mortgage payments.

In case your husband has made payments with premarital funds for the house, and you have children, and you are the custodial parent, you can ask the court to award you the possession of the house.

If your husband is the sole owner of the house, you can request the court to decide not to sell the house until the divorce is not final.

Rights Women Should Get After Divorce

These are just some of the immediate rights you must know after your divorce was granted.  We wish you were able to fight for your rights.  But it is in our prayers, too, that your marriage will not lead to divorce.

When children are over 12 months, they begin a rapid growth spurt, and their diet has a lot to do with it. From the ages of one to five, their bodies will get larger, heavier, and taller.

The responsibility of the parents then is to feed their children right. However, many parents don’t know what is best to feed their toddlers. General practice is to give them the food that adults eat, but only in small portions. Though that idea is excellent, there is a specific food that supports growing bodies.

Red meat

Although red meat is something you should introduce to your children early on, it needs to be cooked properly and presented to them in a way that’s easy to eat. Red meat like lamb and beef is a little too tough to chew for most toddlers.  Making this red meat into spaghetti bolognese is an excellent way to introduce meat to youngsters.   If you like to make lamb stew or lamb pie, then you need to cut up the pieces of the lamb into smaller pieces. Children’s teeth are short and young, making it extra challenging to chew on meat correctly before swallowing. Another tip is to opt for lean fresh meat offered by market butcher instead of the supermarket. Meat at the market is fresh, making it quite tender and soft, easy to be cut up, minced and eat by toddlers.

Spreadable mashed fruits

Mashed food is a brilliant way to introduce fruits and vegetables to children. We all know how hard it can be to get our children to eat what’s right for them. They fight tooth and nail to avoid eating lettuce, carrots, broccoli, etc. however, mashed or pureed fruits and vegetables are fantastic for spreading onto toast and sandwiches. Naturally, they also come with a little sugar, so it adds a little sweetness to the mash. Don’t get confused, it’s not jam but purely fresh mashed up fruits and vegetables.  Such kind of food has a thick consistency which you can eat straight out of the jaw or spread on crackers, bread or even on chocolate bars. It’s a brilliant way to make sure your children get some of their daily dose of vegetables.

Milk

Milk is an excellent source of energy, not just for humans but for all mammals. It’s full of the best things we need. Protein and plenty of high minerals and nutrients are found in natural milk. Breastmilk is best for newborns up to two years old.   For parents, though, who can’t breastfeed, they may opt for formula milk to help their children gain weight and meet their nutritional needs.  Milk formula like   S26 formula that is used to support the toddler gain weight is a good option.

Healthy fats

Toddlers are growing up fast, and for their bone density and muscle structure to be healthy, they need to get two main things in their diet. They need to have a good source of protein and healthy fats as well. Healthy fats often lubricate the joints and also make it easier to have energy ready and waiting for the muscles. Peanut butter is an excellent source of this, and it tastes great to toddlers. Other healthy fats are fish and dairy products. Fish should be given to children early on. It’s light in structure so even toddlers can chew some of the most common fish.

Other healthy fats such as dark chocolate should also be part of the youngsters’ diet, especially those with high cocoa percentage. Whole eggs are also a great source of healthy fats.  A beautiful piece of toast, slathered in butter, is also an excellent way to start the morning. These healthy fats burn off quickly, but they too oil the body from the inside and improve our general functions.

A Well-Rounded Diet For Toddlers

What’s In A Well-Rounded Diet For Toddlers?

Toddlers are at a stage when their body is overgrowing. To gain weight, they need milk as well as healthy fats. Mashed food is also an excellent idea to get children to eat healthy food such as fruits and vegetables. You can spread these pastes onto toast and crackers. For meat, you need to make sure that red meat is introduced in small quantities to your toddlers early on. Help them digest by creating dishes that use mince such as spaghetti bolognese.

Hope you find these tips useful in helping feed your toddlers and for them to achieve a well-rounded diet.

National Book Store Grand Back to School Fair

National Book Store, our favorite book store, is bringing everything we need for the back-to-school season to one remarkable event, the Grand Back to School Fair.

Grand Back to School Fair at Glorietta 2

On May 24 to 26, 2019, from 10 am to 9 pm, the Activity Center at Glorietta 2 in Palm Drive, Makati City, will open its doors to all for their back-to-school needs. More than the school and office supplies available, there are workshop, live demo and fun games happening each day.

Grand Back to School Fair raffle prizes

Now, hear this! P90,000 worth of raffle prizes are up for grabs at the fair. There will be 30 winners of P1,000 worth of school supplies, six winners of P5,000 worth of NBS Gift Cards, and three winners of P10,000 worth of NBS Gift Cards.

Grand Back to School Fair special offers

National Book Store Grand Back to School Fair

We were one of the few who went to the Activity Center early morning of May 24. We want to shop with less crowd so we won’t miss anything. And from the entrance, one could easily see Grab and Go packs and Budget Bundles. I love this zone because it helps shoppers save time and energy. With the Grab and Go pack, for instance, all the student’s drawing needs are conveniently packed already. One needs not to go through each aisle to look for a pencil, eraser, and the likes. And for quick and easy shopping, one may opt for the Backpack to School for Grade to 3 at P345 and Grades 4 to 6 at P445.

NBS also has a special offer for those on a tight budget. For every P300 single-receipt purchase with an item tagged with an ‘N’ sticker, one could already get a backpack at P100. A lunch bag is also available for P75.

Shoppers who reached P3,000 single receipt purchase, on the other hand, will automatically receive a P100 NBS Gift Card.

Grand Back to School Fair supports underprivileged

Not only for this year’s back to school but throughout the year, NBS has its Project Aral. Each shopper can give back to underprivileged children by donating Project Aral kits. The P30 kit contains two notebooks, two pencils, an eraser, and a sharpener. There is also a P60 kit containing the same items and a pair of slippers.

Grand Back to School Fair at all NBS branches

National Book Store Grand Back to School Fair

If Glorietta 2 is far from your place, fret not as all NBS branches have the Back to School Zone. I like this back to school zone very much as it makes it easy for shoppers to find what they need in just one area of the store. The red sub-zone is for convenience, offering the essential supplies as well as packs and bundles. The blue sub-zone is for quality, offering the top brands from all categories. There is also the green zone which is for value for money, offering items and deals for the budget-conscious shopper.

Grand Back to School Fair Checklist

But what I love most about NBS’s back to school is its School Supplies Checklist available in both the stores and online. The lists consist of the usual school supplies needed by students at every level, from elementary to college. This signifies that truly, NBS is everyone’s partner every step of the way.

Have you shopped for your kids’ back to school needs already? If not yet, you still have today until tomorrow for NBS Grand Back to School Fair at Glorietta 2 in Makati City. Or you could always drop by your favorite NBS branch anytime.

This mother always welcomes changes as long as she knows they will make a positive impact to concerned individuals. Such change or improvement is the latest efforts of BDO Foundation, the Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas (BSP), and Department of Education (DepEd) on ramping up plans to maximize the benefits of a financial education program for public school students through the K-12 curriculum.

Financial literacy learning resources

BDO Foundation, et al, push Financial Education for Youngsters

I always believe that gaining knowledge about money management decision at an early age will all the more help youngsters to be financially responsible adults. Likewise, being financially literate is a lifelong process. Beginning at an early age like putting a few pesos in a piggy bank will help them handle with grace more advanced concerns in budgeting and risk. Thus, imagine my happiness when DepEd secretary Leonor Magtolis Briones recently issued Memo no. 32, Series of 2019. This memorandum announces the dissemination of the financial literacy learning resources in all public schools nationwide.

Developed by BDO Foundation in partnership with BSP and DepEd, the resources consist of 10 sets of educational videos, lesson plans, and discussion guides on topics like savings, budgeting, and entrepreneurship, among others. The issuance of the memo formalized the integration of said materials in Kindergarten classes.  Also, covered are subjects like Araling Panlipunan, Edukasyon sa Pagpapakatao, and Mathematics for elementary students.

Financial education for youngsters

Checking into detail the learning resources, I like how for the Kindergarten pupils, the subject will focus on saving and the value of money. The Araling Panlipunan materials teach students how to save and when to spend by identifying needs versus wants. The Edukasyon sa Pagpapakatao lessons discuss the importance of hard work and resourcefulness in earning extra income. The Math classes, on the other hand, cover budgeting and financial planning.

For the materials and method, there will be financial education videos, lesson plans, and discussion guides. All these will be developed by the foundation, BSP, and DepEd with a sole purpose to encourage students to learn effective ways to manage their money early on in their lives. More so, these materials are available on DepEd’s online learning portal, where teachers and trainers can readily access them.

With a toddler about to enter Kindergarten in a year from now, I am happy with the inclusion of financial education in their subjects. I am seeing my boy achieving financial independence when he grows old because he is guided adequately at a young age.

Thank you to BDO Foundation and partners for such a thoughtful effort.

If I’m earning a reasonable income, why am I not becoming wealthy?

I once read this question from a financial planning book titled The Wealthy Barber by Canadian author David Chilton. The book is an excellent read, giving readers personal finance advice. And what makes it more interesting is the concept the one giving the finance tips is a barber. The fictitious characters on the book are quite intrigued by how the millionaire barber accumulated his wealth on a barber’s salary.

A Brighter Tomorrow for The Wealthy Barber

The Wealthy Barber is what pushed me to look into mutual funds and get a servicing advisor to help me watch the ups and downs of the markets. More so, the book taught me to get a mix of stocks from different investments. This strategy helps me not to feel the sudden drop in shares of my investment because there are still other assets I have.

A Brighter Tomorrow Because of Mutual Funds

I opted for mutual funds because they are easy to understand. There is no need for me to acquire particular know-how on the financial market and even economics. Also, mutual funds offer a variety of products depending on the risk profile and investment objectives of each investor. From equity funds to balanced, income, liquid, and more, there are just so many ways to invest in mutual funds. And one of the asset management companies that offer mutual funds is Sun Life Asset Management Company, Inc. (SLAMCI).

A Brighter Tomorrow with Sun Life Prosperity Card

The Wealthy Homemaker

Now, in keeping with efforts to make investing in mutual funds even more accessible to Filipinos, SLAMCI launches a new variant of its Sun Life Prosperity Card in a lower denomination of only P1,000.

This stored value gift card is ideal for investment in peso-denominated mutual funds managed and distributed by SLAMCI. One can purchase it either for personal use or as a gift for occasions like birthdays, baptisms, graduations, and weddings.

I like this idea of a stored value gift card. It enables the recipient to have his starter mutual fund. And even if he invested P1,000 only, it surely will appreciate over time. As for the likes of me who already have mutual funds, all the more that I will not feel pressured putting money on my investment. I could top up my initial investment with as low as P1,000 stored value gif card.

The Sun Life Prosperity Card is also available in P5,000 denomination. A first in the industry, this stored value gift card is available for purchase at major Sun Life Client Service Centers or through Sun Life financial advisor. One can activate the card at any Sun Life Client Service Center nationwide.

A Brighter Tomorrow for the Wealthy Homemaker

I hope that you will also find the beauty of mutual funds. I am not pushing you to get mutual funds as well, but I would like to share a few lessons learned as I live life:

Many of us fail to keep a substantial investment because we are not investing in a disciplined way.
Click To Tweet

Savings NOT invested often gets wasted on discretionary lifestyle related expenses.
Click To Tweet

A systematic investment like that of mutual funds helps us maintain a disciplined approach to investment, saving, and even spending.

The Wealthy Homemaker

In a few years, I am seeing a wealthy homemaker in me. I could feel all the universe conspire in helping me to achieve my goal.  And with Sun Life Prosperity Card, I feel I could easily top up my investment without feeling that much broke.

Information here is the author’s opinion and should not be misconstrued as investment advice. Under no circumstances do we push readers to buy or sell mutual funds.

What's meant to be will always find a way. - Trisha Yearwood

Do you believe in fate?

I would want to assume I don’t. Because I always hold on to what I believe.

We make our destiny as life is the sum of all our choices. Everything we do and do not do adds up, leading us to the life we created for ourselves. For every thought, word, and action is a chance for us to change lives and be directed to the one we envision ourselves to enjoying.

Fate is not the present

But as I live life, it’s becoming clear that yes, fate is real. And it is not the sum of all the choices we made and are bound to make. Those thoughts, words, and actions are our life decisions.

Decisions are like the seed we scatter to the ground and reap in time of harvest. They are the skipping meals, thus the ulcer thing kind of life. Or the YOLO (you only live once) thinking; therefore, every choice means exciting even if silly or dangerous.

Fate is not the near future

Looking at my life, I made a lot of quick and careless decisions. That led me to some agonies and hardship. But I also had some wise options that made me smile and are the reasons that keep me to love life. Both my bad and good decisions from the past are what continuously remind me to be careful of my present choices. Why? Because I look forward to a happy future. Thus, for a fruitful one life at a time, I always opt to be careful on my thought, word, and action.

Fate is our ending

As a fruitful life is very much possible as long as we make choices leading to that option, we are still destined to our fate.

What is our fate?

Fate is our ending.

The present and near future are what makes living happy and sad.
Click To Tweet
They are the moments that would make our fate sweet or sour.

Again, we cannot escape fate. It is bound to happen. But as life leads us to our destiny, we can make the present and the near future the reflection of a happy and contented life. They are what would make us smile on our deathbed and say, we had a happy life.

Fate happens

Fate happens

Why this kind of reflection?

I read to my 33-month old son the One-eyed Doe fable. The narrative is from the 200 Aesop’s Fables book I bought at the National Book Store Warehouse Sale months ago.

It’s the fable of a doe who had the misfortune to lose one of her eyes. Her thoughts and actions were pretty much calculated, opting to always feed on a high cliff near the ocean. Through this position, she could easily see with her good eye any hunter approaching her. Time passed, and the hunters were able to think of ways to catch the one-eyed doe. They hired a boat and rowed under the cliff where the doe used to feed. And fate happened. They shot the doe from the sea, and the poor one-eyed creature died. She finally met her fate.

The lesson of the story

You cannot escape your fate.

Many people take no care of their money till they come nearly to the end of it, and others do just the same with their time. - Johann Wolfgang von Goethe
Click To Tweet

I have come to the point in my life now that I see time as precious. Time has become more of a scarce resource. It all the more shows its value when we realize a hundred and more goals are to be met and done.

Thus, with how the way the internet has revolutionized communication and commerce, it also paved the way to make convenience more possible. And with comfort, time is given value and importance. Companies and brands are now offering goods and services in only a few mouse clicks.

Offers solution

Time is Money

We came across GlassesShop.com. We love how it provides sunglasses and eyeglasses in just a few clicks and in the comforts of where we are at the moment. As choosing from a thousand designs may seem too overwhelming, finally getting a good pair though makes the experience fun and worth it. It was like coming from an optical shop minus the long drive or commute, antagonizing wait for one’s turn to be assisted, and skipping the many questions from the attending physician. Such level of convenience gives solution to needs and give us more time to attend to things we value.

Offers value for money

Checking on the prices of the eyeglasses and sunglasses made me realize that they are affordable than store bought ones. Perhaps the absence of physical contact with customers and a shop to manage are what made the items affordable. But despite being face to face with a website portal, we still felt a sincere and personalized interface with the shop. Maybe because the online shop is easy to navigate.  And again, we are privately viewing the website in the comforts of our home.

Offers high-quality craftsmanship

We got our prescription glasses after less than a week of shopping online. The level of craftsmanship of our new specs is too significant to get unnoticed. Its feel and look showcases the passion, care, and attention to detail poured in crafting each piece. The same quality that defines the difference between GlassesShop.com and mass-produced spectacles at optical shops.

Time is money

The internet has become a platform for brands to offer their products and services by using convenience to win customers. We are among those customers who prefer to do a few mouse clicks, shop discreetly, and wait for our purchase to be delivered right to our doorstep. Time for us is a valuable resource, just like how many see money as such.

Time is Money

By the way, if you like to order online your sunglasses or eyeglasses, too, use this special coupon code GSHOT50 and get 50% off on your purchase.

Put the egg yolks and water in a bowl placed over a pot of simmering water. The bottom of the bowl must not touch the simmering water. Beat vigorously with a whisk until lemony in color. This is our trade secret, and we are sharing it with you.
ETON matches students’ learning style

Ms. Jacqueline Marzan-Tolentino, ETON International School Directress, knows that individuals have myriad strengths. She knows, too, that people like to learn in different ways. Thus at ETON International School, Tolentino and her team use the learning style of each student. They take the time out to know about the youngsters’ strength and vulnerabilities to further suit their teaching technique to the student’s learning behavior. This kind of approach maximizes the potential of each student to learn faster, better, and higher.  And Tolentino shared the school’s learning style profile to select bloggers as they tour around the newly inaugurated school.

ETON sees the worth of each child

ETON Education is the Future

I love how Eton sees the value of each child. The school challenges itself to know the strength of each pupil, and through his specific learning style, the school will strengthen the youngster’s competency and skills. And so noble of ETON to teach values, too, that will set the students for life. This perhaps explains the school’s motto- Artes (Heart), Scientia (Mind) and Intelligentia (Will or Spirit).

“Every child is nurtured to inspire, to innovate and to lead a life in honor of God and service to humanity. Every Etonian leads with humility, courage, and heart,” Tolentino said.

ETON focuses on the foundation years

Contrary to most public and even private schools, ETON enjoys a small class size. The teachers then use this as an advantage to allow the students to focus on the development of their multiple intelligence, especially in the crucial foundation years. Tolentino describes this as strengthening their roots to enable the children to be resilient as they grow and bloom and ready to conquer the world.

No doubt then that ETON is dubbed the school of the future as learning happens beyond the four walls of its classrooms. More than the feeling of safety, ETON is a place where youngsters will grow and multiply their talents exponentially. The school isn’t after mere academic learning, but also on nurturing the leadership potential in each child.

ETON expands its Philippine reach

ETON International School stands proudly inside the prestigious grounds of the Cultural Center of the Philippines (CCP). More than its safe and secure environment, the place is also famous for its landmark structures like the National Theater or Tanghalang Pambansa, Philippine International Convention Center, Coconut Palace, and Sofitel Philippine Plaza Manila.

Before its newly- inaugurated CCP campus, ETON has been serving students from the south of the metropolis through its Rockwell campus. There is also ETON Global Institute in Sampaloc Manila which caters senior high school, collegiate, professionals, for culinary and hospitality programs.

ETON has been nurturing youngsters in the Philippines for 15 years now. Its unique educational system has allowed its students to conquer the world. And Tolentino shared she and her team dream of bringing ETON education to as many cities in the country and partner with the best and brightest in the world.

ETON Education is the Future

ETON Education is the Future

Having seen and somehow experienced how Eton does its initial school assessment procedure plus interacting with its students, I believe Eton is indeed the school of the future. More than exposing various opportunities for their students to grow, ETON starts on the very root of learning – knowing first the youngsters learning style to address their strengths adequately and use their weaknesses to their advancement.

Do you own a Subaru?  Ours is not Subaru, but I dream of owning this type of vehicle.  I find it “macho,” perfect to ride doing everyday errands.

Vital Maintenance Services For Your Subaru

For most Subaru owners, the desire to keep their autos in top-notch condition is a high priority. A well-maintained vehicle stands a better chance at going the distance on the road and surpassing 200k miles. When investing in a car, getting the most bang for your buck is typically the goal. However, it can often be confusing as to which services you need, and which an automotive shop or dealer is trying to sell you on.

The dealerships are all out to make as much money as possible off their customers. They have been known to recommend services that aren’t needed, only to line their pockets. An article by Popular Mechanics, “Confessions of a Car Dealership Service Manager,” goes into detail about some of the shady practices dealerships use to get more money out of customers. Some of these include recommending services that aren’t indicated in the owners manual and charging for shop materials. This isn’t true for every dealership, but it does seem odd that vehicles that visit the dealerships have more things wrong with them and need costly repairs than an independent Subaru shop.

Vital Maintenance Services For Your Subaru

For those that don’t have a larger budget or those not wanting to pay for things they don’t need, it is essential to know what services you need to keep your Subaru healthy and performing at its best. The first thing you should do is looking at the service scheduling in your vehicle. All newer autos come with a book that lists the services recommended by Subaru to maintain the parts on your car. Anything outside of these can be a waste of money.

Regular change oil

The top, without a doubt service, you should never skip or delay is the oil change. Most mechanics will tell you this is the foundation for a good engine. Your Subaru’s boxer engine depends on having fresh oil at the right capacity for smoother operations. Each model varies as to when the recommended time for a change. For newer cars, however, the time can be extended to approximately every 10k miles. Older vehicles may still require every 3,000 miles, but checking with Subaru’s suggestion is still the best bet.

Tire maintenance

Subarus use an impressive all-wheel-drive system that is hands down the best on the market for cars. But the effectiveness of this system requires vehicle owners to maintain the components that could affect the driving experience, such as the tires and brakes. Tires are a critical feature needing constant maintenance and replacement when needed. They are the point of contact with the road, and all other driving features depend on the tires doing what they should.

Brake system maintenance

Brakes are only at its until the pads wear down. Once the pads are gone, the rotors will go, and eventually cause problems with the calipers. This is completely unsafe.  It can be utterly dependent on your braking style too. If you like to ride the brakes, you’ll be replacing these sooner than those who don’t. Maintaining the braking system is essential to maintaining the safety of your Subaru, and is a maintenance item you shouldn’t prolong, especially if you start to hear the notorious squealing when braking.
