It’s been a while since I did a eyeshadow palette review. Today’s review is on the latest release from Zoeva cosmetics. It is a Germany-based brand, but its products are easily available across the globe through their own website which sells internationally, and through certain e-retailer, and through Selfridges in UK and Sephora in the Middle East and Asia Pacific. The brand is popularly known for their brushes – singles and sets. They also have a range of colour cosmetics which has grown exponentially in the last year or so. Sometime back, I reviewed another palette from Zoeva, their Matte palette, which I had really liked. So, I was keen to try more stuff from them. They recently have been churning palette after another and I decided to buy their latest offering, which is the Aristo Eyeshadow Palette.

The Zoeva palettes are probably the slimmest palettes on the market. It consists of 10 shadows – 5 mattes and 5 metallics. Despite the slimness of the palate, the brand has not skimped on the amount of product. There is 1.5 gm of product per eyeshadow, quite comparable to singles form other brands like ABH, MAC, Colorpop. The shade names are mentioned under each well.
All in all, the layout is neat and appealing to the eye. Despite the amount of product in each well, the palette does not seem bulky and should be fairy easy to travel with. And to add to everything else – it has a magnetic closure. The palette has a cardboard sleeve which is identical in design to the actual palette. The flip side of the palette and the sleeve have the details of the palette. The palette is devoid of mirror and any brush (which is the way I prefer). I rarely use the brushes in the palette, they just irk me and come in the way. A mirror can come handy for some, I do not use the palette mirrors, so I don’t miss it! Also, these frills add to the cost of the palette. So, if the lack of these helps keep the price down, I am all for it!!
My Experience with Zoeva Aristo Eyeshadow Palette:
Zoeva Aristo is a palette inspired by the shades of Mother Nature. So, the colours range from earthy shades to terracotta to aquatic blues. I have been so sick of all the warm and berry eyeshadow palettes of late. I am not going to deny the fact that I love those colour schemes and am drawn to them. However, I have been itching for a change in pace and colour. Zoeva Aristo seemed like a good change and at a decent price point.
The shade range seems decent with the necessary transition shades, bronze metallic shades and some pops of unusual colours. This allows the palette a lot of versatility. You can use it for an office appropriate warm neutral looks to neutral evening glam looks to something more interesting. Let us check out the shade range.
First the column of mattes:
Blessing: One of the most difficult shades for me to work with in the palette – not from a quality perspective but from the colour perspective. It is a light, grey-toned pale blue. It has good pigmentation and smooth consistency.
Ploutos: This is a light, pink-peach tinged brown with warm undertones. This has good pigmentation and smooth consistency. It works very well as a transition shade – especially if you are using the grey-blue shade “Mother’s House.” However, it tends to sheer out easily.
Central Figure: This is a light to medium dull orange with warm undertones. The quintessential transition shade in every palette being churned out right now. Yet, a necessary evil. Works well as transition shade or something to deepen it or even as an all-over-the-lid shade.
Naturalistic: This is one of the shades which made me pick this palette – a dark, warm toned, khakhi green. The shade has excellent pigmentation and smooth consistency but takes effort to blend out.
In the Ground: It is a medium to dark, red toned brown shade with warm undertones. Perfect shade to deepen the crease or smoke out a look by deepening the outer V. The shade is smooth and has excellent pigmentation.
The column of Metallics:
Mother’s House: The shade which caught my attention and the one that I was keen to try. This is a medium to dark blue-toned grey shade with a metallic sheen. The shade isn’t buttery but still has a smooth consistency. It had excellent pigmentation and was easy to pick up with the brush. It did not have a thick crumbly texture which most shimmer/metallic shades tend to have nowadays.
Air and Water: This is a strange one. It is a light to medium warm-toned beige-peach shade with a muted sheen. In effect – it works more as a satin than a metallic shade. It has good pigmentation and smooth consistency. It was easy to work with.
The Goddess: This is a pale champagne shade with a metallic sheen. This is the lightest shimmer shade and the one which bummed me out a bit. The shade is smooth and seemed pigmented. But, it tends to sheer out easily. You will need to use it wet to make it pop.
Pre-History: Another unique shade in the palette. While it appears like a metallic green tinged gold shade in the pan; it is actually a medium, warm toned, antique gold shade with a metallic sheen. It was similar in texture to the shade Mother’s House. The shade isn’t buttery but still has smooth consistency. It had excellent pigmentation and was easy to pick up with the brush. It did not have a thick crumbly texture which most shimmer/metallic shades tend to have nowadays.
Energetic: The quintessential bronze metallic in every warm palette! This shade was similar in texture to the shade “The Goddess.” The shade is smooth and works okay on its own, but you will need to use it wet to make it pop.
Texture: I have discussed the texture of each shade individually. Most of the mattes performed well except for the shade “Naturalistic,” which I felt needed more effort to blend. The metallic shades had a lot of variation between them. While the shade “Air” and “Water” seemed to be more satin than metallic; the shades The Goddess and the Energetic seemed to sheer out easily and created more of a wash of colour than a pop – unless used wet. The good thing – I did not have any concern with the brush not being able to pick up the shades (especially metallic) or lay them onto the eyelid. Most of the shades are extremely easy to work with. They apply smoothly and blend out easily onto the skin. None of the shades seem to add texture to the lids either.
Pigmentation: Pigmentation for most shadows is good, three shades tend to sheer out easily – Ploutos, The Goddess, Energetic. While Ploutos may be designed to sheer out easily – since it’s a shade more suited for transition, the other 2 could definitely have done with better pigmentation.
Matte and metallic swatches together:
Staying Power: Disclaimer – I apply eyeshadows with a primer because my lids are way too oily. I got about 7-8 hours of wear with most shades in this palette. While the shadows definitely didn’t look as vibrant as they did in the morning, most of the shades were still fairly intact.
Pros of Zoeva Aristo Eyeshadow Palette:
An interesting array of shades – a nice departure of all warm neutrals and berry tones.
A versatile palette which allows an office appropriate warm neutral looks to neutral evening glam looks to something more interesting.
A variety of textures to create a full look and a variety of looks.
The palette has the requisite shades to create a complete look – a highlighter shade, transition shades, etc.
Most shades had good pigmentation.
Smooth, creamy texture.
Decent wear time.
Does not crease over an extended day.
Does not transfer.
Does not irritate my eyes.
Travel-friendly sleek packaging.
Shadows are enriched with vitamin E.
100% free of parabens, mineral oils, perfume and phthalates.
Cons of Zoeva Aristo Eyeshadow Palette:
Wish all shades performed consistently. However, even from the weaker shades, none of them are a lost cause.
I think Zoeva has positioned itself as an affordable brand which deliver quality, in keeping with the price point. Overall, I feel like it is a good palette – all it depends on is if the colour scheme attracts you. Because of late it seems everyone and their grandma wants only oranges and berries, leading to every brand churning out palettes with variation of these two shades. I think the palette has an interesting mix of shades, good quality, at a decent price point.

I have heard really good stuff about YSL’s Tatouage Couture Liquid Matte lip stains and I wanted to try one myself too. The shade that I picked up recently from the above-mentioned range is “1 Rouge Tatouage.”
A lightweight lip stain with a revolutionary formula for ultra-matte, high-impact color and a lightweight, naked-lip feel. This formula gives lips matte tattoo-like color that is lightweight and non-drying, making it ultra-comfortable to wear. The high-pigment color dries instantly, stays fresh, and moves with your lips for up to eight hours of wear. The exclusive liner-like applicator allows for precision outlining and filling in—creating perfectly defined lips every time. The color never feathers or spills over the lip line. Price:
My Experience with YSL Tatouage Couture Liquid Matte Lip Stain 1 Rouge Tatouage:
YSL Tatouage comes housed in a frosted, glass-looking bottle with a golden screw cap with the YSL logo on it. The most unique part about tatouage is the applicator. The applicator wand has a slant cut with the YSL logo on both sides and is supposed to make the application process easy. Like other YSL products, there is no shade name mentioned on the bottom of the tube, there’s only a number.
YSL Tatouage in #1 is a vibrant red color with a slightly pink undertone. The consistency is quite liquid-y and it’s not as pigmented as other average liquid lipsticks out there. As the name suggests, it’s actually a stain.
It has the usual YSL fruity scent which lasts only for a few minutes after application. Honestly, the unique shape of the applicator makes it difficult for me to apply and keep the color within the lines. YSL tatouage lip stain also needs two layers for the color to build up since it’s not saturated enough.
It takes hardly 5 seconds to dry down, but once it completely dries down, it’s not going to go anywhere whether you drink or eat. It dries down to a matte finish. It’s not transferproof exactly, but I barely notice any transfer once the color dries down.
I do not see any feathering on me, but some people might feel that since the stain is quite liquid-y. This lip stain sits comfortably on my lips throughout the day without drying out my lips. It also feels lightweight on the lips. I get more than 10 hours of wear time, even with eating and drinking. It does fade a little but the stain remains on the lips for a very long time.
If you are a makeup lover, then you already know that the silicone sponge is a new tool in the market to blend your makeup. Since long I wanted try it and finally our Indian brand Colorbar has launched their Smart Blend Silicone sponge with a very affordable price rate. Now, let’s get into the review.
My Experience with Colorbar Smart Blend Silicone Sponge:
Silicone Sponge comes in a nice black color zipped pouch that can be used in future to store the sponge as well. Sponge itself looks like a clear silicone thick pad and it has a nice semi-oval shape. It is a lightweight product that takes less space than a regular sponge. So, it’s more travel-friendly too.
Now, the sponge is good in dense as well, which helps to hold it properly. But, as it doesn’t have any pointed tip, it’s quite difficult to reach on small area like corner of eyes and side of nose. Otherwise, I am quite comfortable to use it. Also, it has very soft and smooth texture that is gentle for skin as well.
Now, what’s the benefit of using a silicone sponge? It actually helps to blend your base makeup perfectly without any wastage of product and it provides better coverage than regular sponge. Now, does it really work better than a normal sponge? Well, I am using it since a week now and I am quite satisfied with the product. As it is soft and smooth in texture, it blends the product well by patting it on skin. It is made of silicone so, I don’t need to make it wet before the application and the sponge doesn’t absorb any foundation like our usual beauty sponge. So, it obviously provides better coverage and it almost gives full coverage which is really good to hide dark spots and pigmentation. I personally love to use it to blend my concealer.
It works best for medium liquid foundation. Only for runny foundation, it takes long to blend and can’t provide that nice finish. Also, it can’t provide that smooth results with oil based foundation. Maybe due to its texture, the oil gets messy and the application looks patchy and uneven. But, with our regular liquid foundation, it works quite well to blend the product on skin and it takes less amount than normal sponge. A small amount can give nice result and it gives a beautiful smooth flawless finish.
As I am new to it, I take extra time to blend, but it depends upon the practice. So, I am sure I will be used with it soon. Initially, it feels like the foundation doesn’t absorb on skin properly and it looks unnatural, but once you learn the trick to use it, you can get the best result. I suggest you to use small amount of product with it and then step by step build up your coverage. Don’t use lot of product at once. Initially, you have to learn the way to control the sponge over face and I have to pat a lot to get the best result.
Now, it is so easy to wash after each use. Even you can wipe out the foundation with a tissue as well. Hence, I always prefer water and liquid wash to clean it perfectly. It is more hygienic than a regular sponge and regular sponge needs more time to clean. It’s totally a mess-free application. Also, such type of sponges will last longer than regular one and it has less chances of damage.
Now, I used the sponge with my foundation, concealer, color correctors and cream blush too. In each way, it works good and covers the spots and pigmentation well. Only, it’s difficult to blend the contour shades with it. As it is not so squeeze, I can’t control it on face.
Overall, I really like this new concept and if you love full coverage, then it is good for you. But, you have to pat a bit for that perfect flawless finish and for a person like me who prefer natural looking coverage, a regular sponge works better than this.
Pops of Colorbar Smart Blend Silicone Sponge:
Nice packaging and affordable.
Soft smooth texture gentle for skin.
No need to make it wet and easy to clean the sponge.
Works with foundation, concealer, color correctors and cream blush too.
Blends the foundation well.
Provides full coverage and hides imperfections perfectly.
Easy to build up the coverage.
Needs less amount of product than regular sponge.
Sponge doesn’t absorb any foundation.
Gives smooth flawless base.
Lasts longer and more hygienic.
Cons of Colorbar Smart Blend Silicone Sponge:
Due to its shape, it’s quite difficult to reach small areas.
Initially, takes time to control over it.
Needs more time and pats to blend the foundation perfectly.
Doesn’t work great with runny foundation or oily foundation. It leaves an uneven finish with them.
Not best for contour shades.
IMBB Rating: 4/5 Will I Repurchase/ Recommend Colorbar Smart Blend Silicone Sponge?
It will last long to me and if you want to try it, you can because, it is an affordable product. But for beginners, who are new to makeup, they couldn’t work with it easily. So, don’t make it your first applicator.
Revolutionary unique No-Transfer Lip stain formula glides on flawlessly and delivers impressively long-lasting, velvety color that will not transfer and stay all day long. The weightlessness of the formula will provide you with all-day comfort – wear lip makeup and a flawless look. Price:
My Experience with Colorbar Kiss Proof Lipstick In-Vogue:
This lipstick has a buttery formula, just like all other lipstick shades from this “Kissproof” range. Though the lipstick is pigmented enough, multiple coats also will not add any drama or color to your face. If you want to a lipstick to go along with smokey eyes, this color is a good option.
I like the creamy formula of this lipstick, which settles to a matte finish within seconds. A couple of coats will last for 5-6 hours. It stays put and even after a meal or shower, you only need a slight touch-up. I like the slim and sleek packaging too.
This color will might was out many skin tones since it is a really dull n*de color and has no pink or peach tone to it. Also, the base of the bullet is a bit loose and it could come off if you turn the lipstick upside down. Also, the lipstick quantity is less considering the price. Nevertheless, I love the formula and the texture.
Pros of Colorbar Kiss Proof Lipstick In-Vogue:
Smooth and buttery.
Sets to a smudge-proof finish in 15 seconds only.
Even one coat of lipstick would last you for 7 hours.
It is kissproof!
Sleek body and bullet, stylish packaging.
If you are really into n*de make up for office, you can check out this shade.
If you wear smokey eyes too often, this lipstick can be a perfect match.
Dream for a matte lipstick lover.
Cons of Colorbar Kiss Proof Lipstick In-Vogue:
Expensive for a tiny amount of lipstick.
The lipstick bullet might fall off from the base.
Might be drying if you have too dry lips.
Could feel cakey if you layer it on.
Could wash out many skin tones.
Looks dull on me too most of the times.
Would I Recommend Colorbar Kiss Proof Lipstick In-Vogue?
If you like such subtle n*de shades of lipsticks, and in a matte finish, you are going to love it. Moreover, you can also mix this with darker shades to tone down any color. I think this is a great lipstick shade to own. IMBB Rating:
Lip tints/stain are cosmetic coloring agents, used popularly to add a hint of natural color to the lips and cheek, and are generally water-based. These bear a lightweight formula in comparison to all other lip products and rarely add gloss or shine. Lip tints unlike lipsticks and gloss, appear very natural on the lips. They are also hydrating as these tend to be aqua/gel formula, unlike lipsticks which primarily contain wax and oil. Though color-infused formula is the most popular, these also come in roll-on, or with sponge-tip applicator.
Lip tints are generally the most hydrating and hence take some time to dry down and settle on application, while the newer formulations these days also come with a certain volume of alcohol addition to make the dry down time quick. These tints generally come in very few and natural shades unlike lipsticks, as their very purpose is to add that natural flushed sheen. Tints also have an added advantage of being long-lasting and can be used in multiple ways.
Nature Republic is a South Korean natural cosmetics brand and is into producing a host of skin care and cosmetic products inspired and formulated with ingredients close to nature. With products even extending for men, this brand has almost every Korean formulation to offer. The product that I would be reviewing today is the Triple volume tint in the shade “06 Rose” (NM7964).
By Flower Triple Volume Tint 06 Rose is a Vivid + Glossy + Long-lasting 3-in-one volume tint that provides volume, and a glossy effect by supplying radiant colors to dull looking lips.
By Flower Triple Volume Tint
Color: No. 6 Rose
3 in one Vivid + Glossy + Long-lasting
Prevents appearance of dead skin cells
Complementary viscid texture
Multifarious color expression
Made in Korea
How to Use:
Smoothly apply an appropriate amount over the lips. (Optional) Apply several times to get more vivid color effects. CAUTIONS: For external use only. Avoid contact with eyes. Discontinue use if signs of irritation or rashes appear. Keep out of reach of children. Replace cap after use.
My Experience with Nature Republic By Flower Triple Volume Tint 06 Rose:
This made in Korea product comes in a simple recyclable cardboard box which holds the 4 gm tube. Holding this box itself feels promising, and the promise of volume tint, just adds to the excitement. The packaging appears pretty basic in off-white and green color with the entire list of ingredients and directions to use printed in English. Among the ingredients, water appears first, though it has good amount of alcoholic constituents as well and the shade is basically attributed by the raspberry and blueberry fruit extract apart from sweet almond oil. The circular tube which holds the product appears metallic to feel, and yet is lightweight and travel-friendly. The small slit in the tube ensures the color and quantity of the product becomes visible.
I got my hands on this tint; thanks to U.S. based cousins traveling, and have been using this non-stop for over a week now. Coming from a dry and chapped lips family, using an alcohol tint with no lip balm base was a big decision to take. But it just happened accidentally due to shortage of time, and only did it dawn on me later, that I have no lip balm and yet my lips feel nice and hydrated! The color though appears dark on the doe-foot applicator, the tint itself is quite light and natural and suits my medium skin tone very well. On application, you do feel a mild tingling and cooling sensation, and the product spreads very evenly and well. A single application gives good enough of a color and the product dries within seconds of application. I did feel my lips to be a bit plumped up, but nothing major.
The stay power of the tint is amazingly good. Though the color did become light after about 3 hours post application, the tint did stain my lips till I used my remover at the end of the day. Priced at 11.99$, this product is definitely on the affordable side in comparison to all other lip tints available in the market. Coming from an eco-friendly brand, this tint is definitely worth a try!
Pros of Nature Republic By Flower Triple Volume Tint 06 Rose:
Good stay power.
Does not crumble.
Cons of Nature Republic By Flower Triple Volume Tint 06 Rose:
No apparent plumping effect.

My Experience with Wet n Wild Fan Brush:
Wet n Wild Fan Brush comes packed in a transparent plastic case with a black label with the brush details and description printed over it. The packaging is lightweight and travel friendly. Wet n Wild Fan brush is vegan and cruelty free. The synthetic brush hair is super soft to touch and looks like a natural brush. It is made up of two-toned synthetic polymax fibre. The length of the brush is neither too long nor too short; I find it just perfect to work with. The white plastic handle is long enough to support easy application. The dent on the handle allows me to hold the brush easily.
The brush bristles have been dyed in dual-coloured white and baby pink shades, which looks beautiful. Wet n Wild fan brush is not very fluffy. It is slim. The brush allows me to apply a thin strip of highlighter on the top of my cheeks and on my nose. The brush allows me to blend the highlighter flawlessly. Overall, the brush allows me with precise application of highlighter.
The thin bristles are very easy to clean. I clean my brushes using a baby shampoo. It also dries up fast. However, the pretty white and pink colour hue does fade out with regular washing. I didn’t see any shedding of bristles though.
The bristles have retained the shape and softness even after so many uses. Not even a single bristle has come off even after multiple washes. The quality of the brush is so amazing for the price. I wish I had purchased multiple back-ups of this brush.
Wet n Wild brush range is so helpful for makeup beginners and this fan brush is definitely an awesome drugstore gem.
Pros of Wet n Wild Fan Brush:
Soft, synthetic fan brush white and pink bristles.
Blends highlighter easily and really well.

My Experience with Catrice Kohl Kajal 240 My Dream Of Caribbean:
The kohl is a wooden sharpenable pencil. The shade of the kohl is same as the color of the pencil and the cap. The plastic cap closes tightly and doesn’t open when kept in bag. There is some basic information on the pencil. The product comes unsealed and you need to check the product to ensure that if it has been used or not, and then pick the product. The slim convenient style makes the pencil travel-friendly.
The shade, “Dream of Caribbean” is a turquoise-teal colored pencil with a matte finish. When swatched, the color gets imparted very well but the case is not similar when applied to eyes. The product is not very creamy and it tugs the eyelids and you need to use a lighter to melt the product a little and then apply it over the eyes. Even though the shade looks beautiful in the swatch, when applied on the eyes, it doesn’t suit all skin tones. I guess this product would suit people who are on the fairer skin tones as it feels a little ashy on my eyes. The color doesn’t brighten up the face. Even though it is pigmented, to impart the color onto the eyes, you need to glide on 3-4 times and only then you can get the color built up.
The eyeliner doesn’t have any glitter or shimmer and is plain matte. The product sharpens well without any issue. The product doesn’t cause any irritation on my eyes and I guess it is suitable for sensitive eyes too. The product stays for around 30 minutes on the waterline and fades away, but on the lid, it stays for around 6 hours and fades very lightly and I think this is great for a drug store brand. The product stays put even on oily lids. I have been using this now to smudge at the corners of the eyes and it gives a good definition.
The product is very easy to remove too. With just a cleanser or makeup remover, you can get the product out. The product doesn’t wash away with water, but it is not waterproof. The product smudges very lightly. The product is okay, but I am not so fond of the color.
Pros of Catrice Kohl Kajal 240 My Dream Of Caribbean:
Stays for around 5-6 hours which is impressive.
Very less smudging.
Easy to remove.
Doesn’t cause any irritation.
Cons of Catrice Kohl Kajal 240 My Dream Of Caribbean:
Might not suit medium-darker skin tones.
Not very creamy.
Tugs the eyes during application.
Doesn’t stay on the waterline.
IMBB Rating: 3/5 Would I Recommend or Repurchase Catrice Kohl Kajal 240 My Dream Of Caribbean?
If you are on the fairer side, you can give it a try or else you can skip it.
Today’s review is going to be on Clean and Clear Essentials Moisturizer. Read on to know whether it was a hit or a miss.
Price and Quantity:
130 PHP or 200 INR approximately for 50 ml.
My Experience with Clean and Clear Essentials Moisturizer:
Let’s begin with the packaging of the product. The moisturizer comes in the signature Clear and Clear bottle. There is also one more size available. This small bottle is very handy and does not take much space in my cosmetic bag. The cap shuts very securely and ensures that it will not create any mess while carrying around. The nozzle dispenses the right amount of the product. Overall, the packaging is very basic yet sturdy and travel friendly.
The facial moisturizer is quite thick in consistency. It is a milky white liquid. It has a mild and soothing citrus fragrance with some floral hints, which instantly refreshes the mood. The smell is mild and will barely bother people with sensitive noses. I like such fragrances, so I quite enjoy the smell of the moisturizer. The texture of this facial moisturizer is thick and creamy, but at the same time, it has a very lightweight and non-sticky formulation. It spreads easily on the skin and hardly takes a minute to sink into it properly. Once it has fully absorbed, it does not feel like sitting on the skin, nor does it leave any kind of sheen behind.
My skin soaks it up completely leaving no residue behind and it definitely provides tons of hydration to my skin. It is an amazing product for combination to oily skin types. It provides enough moisture to the skin and takes away dryness and flakiness. It is specially formulated for oily skin types. It is extremely lightweight and hydrating, which makes it a good moisturizer for summers. Even, in extreme humid weather, my skin does not become greasy after using this. It deeply nourishes my skin. My skin feels soft, smooth and moisturized. The moisturization of this facial moisturizer lasts almost all day long. I use it twice a day. This is a very basic skin care product. It is nothing fancy and does not have high claims. It is just a basic moisturizer for oily and acne-prone skin. And, I am happy to say that it does live upto the claims. It is great for oily skin. It helps control break outs.
My skin hasn’t broken out at all since I started using this moisturizer. So, it has become my Holy Grail product now. I like such basic moisturizers when I am not in the mood to do a long skin care ritual. Other than this Clean and Clear product, Lacto Calamine is another basic and effective moisturizer which is great for my skin type and I absolutely love using that whenever my skin starts breaking out or something.
Pros of Clean and Clear Essentials Moisturizer:
Gets absorbed into the skin within seconds.
Moisturizing and hydrating.
Takes away dryness.
Good for oily skin.
Does not leave any residue behind.
Fits for summers.
Moisturization lasts almost all day long.
Does not break me out.
Cons of Clean and Clear Essentials Moisturizer:
5/5 Would I Repurchase Clean and Clear Essentials Moisturizer?
Yes. Do I Recommend Clean and Clear Essentials Moisturizer?
