On Friday, October 6 there was a Latte Art Competition at The Kookaburra (Roastery) . My daughter is a barista there so I decided to go and watch the fun. Many local baristas came out and competed against one another showing off their latte art!

I took some of my kiddos to the St Augustine lighthouse recently and it was actually not busy with tourists and we could actually enjoy and explore the grounds. I forget I have a membership ! They are So helpful and great at educating us on the rich history . It is great for homeschool families like us.

A few of my images were recently featured on their Instagram page and website as well as a few other publications have used a particular image of a brand new exhibit ; Legends of the light .

My images were featured in the Come see Orlando article all about the newest exhibit  http://www.comeseeorlando.com/2017/10/florida-unique-research-conservation.html

It is a new area just for children of all ages, but ideal for the little ones that have not reached the 'height requirements ' to climb the lighthouse. It has etch a sketch stations, hands on activities like a puppet show area and it gives moms a nice cool place to nurse their nursling . AND SO MUCH MORE.

There is also a new cafe serving healthy options and local Ancient City Brewery beers .

Check out their website for everything you need to know to plan a visit http://staugustinelighthouse.org

Welcome earthside beautiful Bernadette Lacy! You were born one week ago on Sept 11, 2017 at 10:49 pm weighing in at 7 pounds 11 ounces and 19.5 inches in length .Your beautiful momma worked hard to keep you inside safe during Hurricane Irma. I was  your momma's birth doula and birth photographer but Hurrincane Irma was in the way of me leaving our island due to the bridges being closed.

And then  4 days fresh I  captured the moment your grand parents and Aunt and Uncle met you! I love documenting families together loving on the newest little blessing!

I went out to the beach tonight for a few minutes after day two of post hurricane Irma cleanup. Took a few photos at the beach and pier. The dredged sand is gone and the rocks are exposed again. I will add more in the coming week to this album.

Edit: Added more images from Downtown St Augustine tonight. The Mission , Tolomato Cemetery and the Castilo De San Marcos.

Sadly the FAMOUS Cedar tree I fondly call the "Joshua tree" did not stand to Irma's power. So many photo sessions were done there.

Sunset at the Pier looking west

The Dance Company's boarded up windows telling Irma she can not dance ! TONS of these gorgeous shells on the beach tonight  Debris and surfers not really safe to surf yet the water is gross

The day all the media has raved about. The Great Solar Eclipse 2017. I am in St Augustine Florida. It was pretty cloudy here all day . SO I loaded up my children and drove a whopping 10 miles to Fort Matanzas .

The clouds parted and opened up like heaven JUST in time. We had around 90% here but IDK. They ran out of the free glasses but some kind folks literally let us try theirs it was cool. Like I recalled as a child in 1979.

I used my Nikon D750 with my 105mm lens mostly shot at ISO 80 I did not take many as I also used my old canon ae-1 with bw film .

NO I did not use a filter. I broke all the rules lol. The cool pat was really the present shadows on the ground throughout the trees. Which you will see. We did not have total darkness. IT was HOT like more than usual .

I am happy to share this newborn session I did last week. I have been photographing this precious family since their second born was a newborn . I first photographed his baptism and have done several family sessions . I did a Christmas session last December and little did mom know she was already growing baby Nicholas. Though they did not know his gender until his home water birth.

I also did her maternity session and I had a feeling she was carrying a boy!

For their newborn session I did a combination of some posed and some lifestyle . But it was mostly a lifestyle session since Nicholas whom was just 8 days old needed to nurse a lot and was not a sleeping baby .

I will also be photographing his baptism in a few weeks.

This was around Christmas 2016 their family session and though she did not know it then , there was a baby growing inside her.

We tried a few posed but he just did not enjoy being out of mom's arms , so being a attachment parenting family , most photos were in arms.

At mom's request I tried to mimic a few image styles she had previously when her others were newborns. Mom was very pleased with the result.

This couple is so loving. I just adore them

Baby Ryan was this sweet family third boy. This was such a wonderful fast birth. What us birth workers call fast and furious. Mom had been txt with me that she had some back pain and went to bed early since she had already been told she was 3cm the previous week . We both knew if labor kicked in it would be an all nighter.

Mom txt around 12:30 am her bag of water had released in bed. But she got up and cleaned up and laid back down , or tried too. Around 1:53 am she txt she felt sick and the pain was more intense her lower belly (insert a English accent ) a few minutes later she txt me to come over. I called her to listen to her breathing and decided that she should meet me at Flagler since this was her 3rd and there was no real pattern.

She met me at the hospital around 2:50 am and we walked to LDR together . Triage was slow! She was checked and she was 9 CM! Mom hit transition and was asking for a epidural . She wanted the low intervention room but since she 'verbally asked for a epidural" they wheeled her to a 'regular " room. Things went super fast as she was in the room we helped her onto the bed and I heard pushing sounds. Baby Ryan was born quickly after a few pushes at 3:15 am! He weighed 8 pounds and 9 oz.

Mom achieved the natural birth she wanted! After two previous medicated births.

I was also her birth doula and photographer but dad was serving as main support as he desired too and did a wonderful job!

Just after mom was helped into the bed she grabbed the bar as she was pushing.

A few pushes and Baby Ryan was pulled up to her chest with dad's help

The first realization that SHE DID IT NATURALLY  Dad  holding his newest son. LOOK AT THOSE LIPS

Sometimes birth does not go as we desire. This mother never once said "I can't do this". She never complained. She went 42 weeks and the entire week prior she experienced off and on surges . Her care providers wanted her to induce but she made her educated choice to decline.

Technology can suck honestly. Wireless monitors can fail. And when they fail Drs panic.

Baby Logan was born via a belly birth  and he weighed 7 pounds and 8 oz. Covered in vernix.

I served as mom's birth doula and birth photographer  and was so very proud of her!
