In today’s episode of Kelsey’s Kloset, radio host Shan of 99.7Now and I discuss the best of Fenty Beauty products. I gotta hand it to Rihanna and the product development team for formulating A+ cosmetics that are not only aesthetically appealing, but super functional. Click here to see what all the fuss is about!
Say hello to your new best friend! This three-in-one concealer, contour, and highlight bundle is functional and smart. I use the “Mocha” stick daily to help accentuate my cheek bones. It’s amazing what a little highlight and contour can do. The formula is creamy and smooth, but the packaging is simply genius. The stix trio is magnetic. #Bible. Put them in your makeup kit as one and pull them out as one.
Your face will thank you later. Introducing the softest brushes at the beauty counter. These rose gold tools make applying foundation, concealer, highlighter, and setting powder easier than ever. I use the Cheek Hugging Bronzer Brush to apply Cocoa Naughter bronzer over my contour lines. Love love love!
Weightless lipstick perfect for the summertime…add this stuff to your packing list STAT. Available in seven steamy shades, there is one for suitable for every occasion. Bonus: the bottle is the same color as the product…say, whaaaat?! You know how your traditional lipsticks come in black bottles and you have to remove the cap to see which color is what? Secrets don’t make friends. And in my book, we’re a bunch of fashion and beauty loving friends who happened to “meet” on Instagram! In today’s episode of Kelsey’s Kloset, radio host Shan of 99.7Now and I discuss three summer makeup must-haves. Let your face breathe this year on summer vaca without looking totally bare-faced. Glamorous girls, you don’t want to miss it!
When you don’t feel like applying a full face of makeup, but you could use a little coverage, this tinted moisturizer by Winky Lux is for you! Call it your “weekend face paint.” Not only does it hydrate your skin and add a dewy glow, but the fresh scent is divine and it protects your skin from harmful UV rays. SPF 30 for the win!
Eye brows on fleek! This two-in-one wand by Almay makes bad brow days a thing of the past. Not only does it help keep unrully hairs in check, but it adds a touch of color. The brush mimics hair follicles, and is available in clear, light, medium, and dark brown. Brush it on and prepare to be AMAZED.
Every woman in America should have this product in their makeup kit. Your freshly applied face makeup will last ALL day when you spritz it with All Nighter by Urban Decay. Introducing the same reliable formula with a new summer scent! Click here for my 12-hour makeup tutorial featuring this setting spray.
Akira has done it again! Never have I ever consistently been able to find unique statement pieces, one after another, before discovering this Chicago based retailer! And it is not just me who thinks so. I receive endless compliments from Jonathan, friends, and strangers alike when I rock Akira clothing. Like these pants, or this top, or this ensemble. Now let’s talk about this floral corset!
This floral corset is a fashionista’s dream come true. I will never be a jeans and t-shirt kind of gal. Simply put, I am uncomfortable in what I perceive as an uninspiring outfit. Maybe that makes me unpractical, or a not-so-savvy business woman. Maybe more people would buy the ensembles I promote if they were “traditional.” But this is me and I’ll never pretend to be someone I am not! #SorryNotSorry. Floral corsets > white tees.
Hello 70’s chic! I always reach for high waisted bottoms when styling a crop top. The thought of the low rise pants we all used to wear in the early 2000’s literally make me cringe. The older I get, the more confident I am in high rise pants. Not only do they hold everything in place, but they have the ability to elongate the appearance of your legs….especially if they are a flare leg pant! Petals and pearls just go together so nicely. I completed the looks with a glitzy hair clip and matching purse. What is your favorite online retailer for unique fashion? I would love to hear!
I used to believe that you should only buy clothes when you had an occasion to wear them. But the more hours I spend browsing the internet, for the latest and greatest in fashion, I am finding this to be a false conclusion. Many of the items I wear are under $100. They are “fast fashion” garments. If you hesitate, they will sell out in your size. I don’t really have somewhere to wear this unicorn maxi dress, but I was excited to share it with the world. 2019 is my year; pink, pastels, and sparkles are plentiful.
This pleated maxi exudes elegance. The sky blue top fades into a sweeping color block design. What does one pair with a “unicorn dress” you may ask?! Colorful hair accessories! Headbands, barrettes, and old school scrunchies are back in style – get the lowdown here. Being a lover of jewelry, I am looking for every excuse to add a little glitz and glam to my hair. I hadn’t worn a headband since the 5h grade, but lately that is all I am reaching for! These playful add-ons are an easy way to keep your wardrobe current. Try it and let me know what you think and always remember, what goes around comes around!
A week ago today, I packed a suitcase and hit the road to Winters, CA. What does this little town have to offer, you may ask?! The charming country side inn, Park Winters! Set across several acres of farm land, this hidden gem has become a very desirable venue for weddings and farm to table dinners. I had a suitcase, but I did not stay the night. Rather I had the pleasure of attending the second annual “Summerland” extravaganza for Bay Area creatives – aka blog pics paradise!
I was just one of many hand-picked guests to indulge in a beautiful lunch spread, lounge poolside, and of course take advantage of the photo ops throughout the property. I definitely felt like a city girl in the country, but I loved every minute of it. I take a lot of pride in the backdrops I choose for my colorful outfits. It is nice to have the work already done for you once in a while. I had a total of thee outfit changes, but this orange maxi dress was undoubtedly my favorite. Who knew a floral crown would be so fun to wear?!
Short girls rejoice: this dress is only $60 and available in “petite” length. Hooray! Anyway, wedge sandals are always safe when you are walking on uneven terrain. This pair is my latest closet addition and the same style and brand that I wore in Colombia. Long story short: they are comfortable enough to wear ALL day long. Get the gold pair here. Now what do you think…does country look good on me?!
Clear high heels…similar to the biker short trend, you either love ’em or hate ’em! Let go of your fashion insecurities and step out of the box in a pair of clear heels. There are many style perks to owning a pair. Matching is suddenly easy, and they have the ability to elongate the appearance of your legs. In today’s episode of Kelsey’s Kloset, radio host Shan of 99.7Now and I discuss clear kicks, how to wear them, where to buy them, and what celebs are wearing them.
I get it, clear heels are trendy. We might all be tired of them after a few months. Consider buying a look for less and avoid buyer’s remorse. I personally own these and they are San Francisco hill-friendly. Style tip: dress your heels with pops of neon for instantly hip attire.
Barbie just called and she wants her outfit back. Haha! For a spicy night on the town consider dressing your clear heels with a bodycon dress and sparkling accessories. You can never go wrong with 50 shades of PINK!
In this week’s episode of Kelsey’s Kloset, we are discussing the biker short trend. You already know my thoughts, as I wrote a post about the art of styling them gracefully. But in case you missed it, fill yourself in here. Anyway, we are diving keeping into this hot topic and specially discussing how to style them and what celebrities are dabbling in biker shorts.
Exhibit A is for the corporate girl who is not afraid to take risks. Consider this look a frisky way to rock your traditional black blazer. As discussed here, pairing a long garment with your biker shorts is a great way to try the trend without sacrificing backside coverage. Meow!
Exhibit B is for the lover of color (yours truly!). This funky look is a great way to incorporate the biker short trend with a graphic tee and rainbow accessories. Go ahead and wear this for the fourth of July – I guarantee you’ll be the best dressed woman in flag paraphernalia.
In this week’s episode of Kelsey’s Kloset, we are discussing the latest and greatest in hair: barrettes. These glitzy little things have the ability to elevate a look in a matter of seconds. Check out how Ashley Graham fastens Gucci hair clips on her sleek back hairstyle and enhances her ponytail with pearls. We are loving everything about this and there is no reason you cannot dabble in barrettes on your own.
Get your chic on in a color block dress and rainbow accessories. It is just a coincidence that it is Pride Month. This colorful trend is here to stay and you can find rainbow barrettes and matching jewels at all of your favorite retailers. This look head to toe is under $150 and suitable wedding guest attire.
Y’all know I am a fan of versatility…don’t let this very glamorous trend fool you. I’m here to tell you that you can dress your hair-wares up or down as shown in Exhibit B. This entire ensemble costs a whopping $57 and features a frilly smocked top and blush ripped mom jeans! It doesn’t get trendier than that! Stay tuned for next week’s episode of Kelsey’s Kloset…where I will be discussing biker shorts and clear shoes!
Fashion is cyclical and 90s styles are back. That does not exclude belt bags (aka fanny packs), hair clips, or biker shorts. We all have Kim K to thank for the latter. I’ll admit my initial reaction to this “spandex revolution” was meh, but I’ve come around and here is why. Biker shorts can be totally classy…the key is styling them gracefully. Below are my three tips to ensure just that.
If you are on the fence about biker shorts, consider pairing them with a high low top (as seen here). I get it. You are putting yourself “out there” (for lack of a better word!). A moderate amount of backside coverage will ease the nerves without taking away from the look and feel of the outfit.
I LOVE these biker shorts because they fit like second skin. In fact, they are high waisted, and rather slimming. They help shape my figure into an hourglass appearance because of their hip hugging nature. Who can complain about that?! We all have insecurities. If your lower half is one of them, don’t let this trend deter you…rather gravitate towards a compression fit.
Pink and Pearls
Ok…maybe I did not go down this exact route but the concept is the same! When your outfit is borderline racy (it probably isn’t but just in case) add feminine details. I typically accomplish this by incorporating pink and pearls into my ensembles. Today, however, I paired my biker shorts with a high low lavender blouse and matching jewel drop earrings. To me, this outfit exudes femininity. See how I did that?! Now it’s your turn!
Happy Friday! I’m stoked for the weekend because it is supposed to be beautiful and in the 70s. Temps above 60 are a rarity in the city by the bay. But I am also excited because I found a pair of rainbow pants that perfectly exemplify my personality. Lately I’ve been receiving comments on my Instagram photos that go something like, “color queen,” or “pink goddess” and I am loving it! Color is the way to my heart and I cannot help but smile when I am wearing it.
Your confidence is your best accessory. Wear what makes you grin from ear to ear – what makes you feel good! When I found these pants I HAD to have them. I am not sure what I love more: the colors or the pleats. Muted pastels begin at the waist, getting progressively vibrant down the leg. Forget the boots…”these pants are made for walking…” head on over to my IG story to see these stunners in action.
Are you partaking in any Pride festivities this month?! If so, these pants or the matching skirt are calling your name! I hope you have a colorful weekend!
