Now that the holidays are over and the festivities have subsided, you may be dealing with one of those dizzying post-party hangovers. While the side-effects of a hangover may seem unavoidable, there are a few things you can do to alleviate some of the pain you may be feeling. Besides drinking plenty of water and getting some rest, drinking a cup or two of warm matcha tea can drastically improve the way you feel after having a few too many glasses of champagne.
While the murky green drink may not look appealing on first glance, matcha tea is both delicious and good for you! Matcha powder has endless health benefits and is a powerful source of vitamins and antioxidants. In fact, one cup of matcha tea is equal to 10 glasses of regular green tea! Those extra-strength antioxidants work within the body to flush toxins from your liver and regulate the amount of sugar in your bloodstream – both vital functions when looking to speed up the recovery time on a hangover. Celery is, at first glance, one of the most boring vegetables. Relegated to garnishing platters of wings or acting as vessels for heaps of peanut butter during an after-school snack, celery often seems to get left behind. But did you know that celery is actually a superfood?
Besides just being a light, refreshing snack, celery is also high in vitamins and minerals, and is anti-inflammatory, detoxifying, and gut-friendly. Additionally, celery is packed with mineral salts, which can help boost digestion, absorption, and utilization of the food you eat for the rest of the day.
As explained on Goop, there’s a difference between eating celery and drinking celery juice. When celery is juiced, the fibrous pulp is removed, making its healing benefits become “much more powerful and bioavailable, especially for those with chronic illnesses.” Juicing the celery also allows you to ingest significantly larger amounts of it than you would if you were eating it in its original form.
Celery juice should be consumed immediately upon waking up, on an empty stomach, for maximum benefits. You may start to feel the positive changes in as little as seven days after starting your daily celery-juice habit, but you can continue drinking it for as long as you want. Start slowly with six to eight ounces and build up to 16 ounces from there.
To make celery juice at home, rinse the celery and run it through a juicer. If you want to add a little more flavor, try blending your celery juice with a little bit of coconut water. Drink immediately for best results. No juicer? No problem! Simply chop the celery and blend it in a high-speed blender until smooth. Strain well and drink immediately.

“We knew we needed more space,” Joanna told Vogue Magazine as they toured the brand new two floor, 14,000-foot Manhattan salon last December, citing the fact that the previous waitlist (when the salon was in a much smaller space in the same building) would sometimes stretch to two or three months in advance. “I don’t think a huge waitlist is chic.”

Eucalyptus oil is a natural decongestant, making it the perfect remedy for those suffering from sickness, asthma, or allergies. Wash Your Face Twice a Day
For most of us, this seems like common sense, but even the most regimented of us can admit to falling asleep without washing our faces every now and then. Especially when you live in a city, washing your face before bed is extremely important – all the dirt, grime, and carcinogens you encounter throughout the day stick to your skin (and, more importantly, embed themselves in your pores) on a microscopic level. Meaning that until you wash them off, they can stimulate harsh reactions within your skin. Additionally, when you go to bed without clean skin, you run the risk of having all those icky substances rub off onto your sheets and pillowcases, increasing their staying power. Beyond just cleansing the skin, Joanna recommends exfoliating two or three nights a week to really purge the skin of any lingering free radicals that have attached themselves to your skin throughout the day.
Retinol, a Vitamin A derivative, is the single most researched ingredient on the web for skincare and has become a championed remedy by dermatologists and skincare professionals worldwide for its acne-fighting and anti-aging benefits. As we age, our skin cells regenerate at a slower and slower rate. Retinol remedies this problem by working on a molecular level to normalize cell turnover. A powerful antioxidant, retinol helps reduce wrinkles, very effectively unplugs your follicles, and exfoliates your skin cells to keep pores clear of dead skin and debris. Adding a retinol serum or cream to your nighttime routine will give your skin the kickstart it needs to regenerate skin cells and add a youthful glow and vitality to the skin.
We all know sunscreen helps protect against the sun’s damaging rays. But despite this, not everyone wears it regularly – and what’s more, even among those who do wear sunscreen, most aren’t using it correctly. Sunscreen should be worn every day, even in the winter (the effects of sun rays bouncing off snow can be as bad or worse than direct sunlight in the summer). Additionally, sunscreen should be applied at least 30 minutes prior to stepping out into the sunlight – this gives the sunscreen time to absorb deep into the skin and render the necessary level of protection. Finally, be sure to layer products made with antioxidants underneath your sunscreen. While most sunscreen is created with antioxidants, they can quickly lose their potency when exposed to the sunlight. Award season is officially upon us! With the Golden Globes airing on January 6thand the other awards shows following close behind, it’s time to start planning your award show watch party! Whether you’re opting for a more low-key event (there’s nothing more relaxing than a pajama party with your girlfriends) or a high-fashion gathering, a little bit of pre-planning goes a long way. Keep reading for a list of our favorite party snacks, décor options, and skincare treatments to make your 2019 watch party the best one yet!
What to Drink:
There’s nothing like a themed cocktail to get the party started! Whip up a festive signature cocktail using this awesome, low-calorie recipe from Evite. Not a drinker? Opt for a delicious mocktailinstead! Finish off the drinks with a citrus twist or a sprinkle of edible glitter!
Cocktail: The Winner
3 oz. Brut Champagne
1 oz. St. Germain elderflower liqueur
2 oz. club soda
Lemon twist (for garnish)
Pour St. Germain into a champagne glass, then top with champagne and club soda. Garnish with a lemon twist and serve.
Mocktail: Virgin Moscow Mule
1-2 tbsp. of lime juice (fresh is best)
1 tbsp. simple syrup
¼ cup club soda
3-4 mint leaves (torn, optional)
¾ cup ginger beer
1 lime wedge (for garnish)
In the bottom of the cup, pour lime juice, simple syrup, and club soda. Add mint leaves, then stir. Fill the cup about halfway with ice and pour ginger beer on top. Garnish with mint leaves and a lime wedge, if desired, and serve.
What to Eat:
Everyone knows that a party isn’t a party without some high-quality snacks. Keep the award show vibe going with movie-themed canapés that both taste great and look delicious.
In a small saucepan over medium heat, add the butter and chives. Saute until the butter is fragrant, about 30 seconds. Remove from the heat and add the truffle oil and season with salt and pepper. Place the popcorn into a large bowl and pour over the truffled butter and sprinkle in the Parmesan. Toss well to combine and serve immediately.
Combine 1 ¼ cups of champagne, lemon juice, and sugar in a saucepan. Sprinkle gelatin on top. Let gelatin soften for about two minutes to bloom, then heat mixture over low heat. Stir until gelatin has completely dissolved, about 2 to 3 minutes, and remove from heat. Stir in remaining ¼ cup of champagne and vodka.
Grease a loaf pan with nonstick cooking spray. Pour mixture into mold and chill for 2 hours, or until firm.
Invert jello to parchment paper-lined cutting board and slice into squares. Dip each square in sprinkles or edible glitter and serve cold.
1 dozen figs (de-stemmed, de-seeded, and sliced in half)
4 oz. brie or goat cheese
12 thin slices of prosciutto (sliced in half lengthwise)
Salt and pepper (to taste)
Balsamic vinegar (for garnish)
Preheat your oven to 350 degrees. Slice prosciutto lengthwise and de-stem, de-seed, and slice the figs in half.
Take each half of the fig, scoop a tablespoon of cheese into the center, then wrap with a halved slice of prosciutto and secure it with a toothpick. Repeat for all 24 slices of fig. Place on a baking sheet and bake at 350 degrees for 20 minutes, or until prosciutto is crispy. Season with salt and pepper. Allow to cool slightly before garnishing with balsamic vinegar (if desired) and serve.
