Last Sunday I was invited to eat at Reading’s latest restaurant opening, Lemoni, and took along my boyfriend Steve and step-daughter Lucy. It was a bank holiday weekend, so we were all in a very good mood and the thought of eating Greek tapas would hopefully cheer up what had turned into a bit of a grey windy day. Refusing to accept that this time last year it was lovely and hot, I’d even put a dress on hoping that I might just be able to encourage the sun to make an appearance. Positive thinking, and all that. Lemoni only […]
That gloriously sunny Easter weekend we had a couple of weeks ago was probably one of the nicest weekends I’ve had in a long time. Four days with no work, no cakes to make, no house jobs to do, and no pressure to get up early. My Mum was visiting so we’d even planned a couple of nice days out and I remember thinking “Easter is my new favourite holiday“. It was also the weekend my son turned 14 (god help me) and conveniently Carters Steam Fair were in town. We love Carters Steam Fair, and we’ve been twice now. […]

In the space of five days at the beginning of April, I visited Revolución de Cuba in Reading twice. Once with three other friends on a non-blogging night and the other four nights after that as a sponsored review with my friend Alex. Both nights have their similarities and both also had their quite clear differences. Based in the centre of town on Friar Street, opposite Cosmo and just near Smelly Alley (for those not from Reading yes that’s a real place!), Revolución de Cuba, which originally began as a Rum bar in the North of England, is based in […]
Back at the beginning of March, one sunny Tuesday evening after work, Steve and I jumped in the car and headed on over to the brand new Mollie’s Motel & Diner in Buckland, Oxfordshire. Bearing in mind that we hit the after work traffic, had to fill up on petrol, took a wrong turn AND got stuck behind a tractor it took us around an hour to get there from central Reading. So not that bad really. That wasn’t an intentional negative start to this blog post, by the way. If anything we were both quite excited about our invite […]
