Living in London often means we don’t have sprawling back gardens or huge spaces to BBQ. Whilst there is a huge range of BBQ’s available, finding a stylish and good quality BBQ at a reasonable price isn’t easy. We tried and tested the stunning Outback Portable Stainless Steel Charcoal BBQ and we absolutely loved it.
Not only is this lovely little BBQ compact, it is stylish, easy to put together and very simple to use. Don’t let the size put you off, as there are two grills in this magical little BBQ – allowing you to make quite a large amount of food at once, leaving you more time to enjoy the party! It is portable so you can easily take it camping, over to a friends and store it easily when it isn’t in use. The Outback BBQ is atheistically pleasing, made from shiny stainless steel which makes it both robust and beautiful.
The hood is also lockable, so you can empty the charcoal dust in a safe place and move it around easily with the hood handle. This wonderful little BBQ will be the talk of any gathering big or small and will be a little gem you can use year after year.
The Outback Portable Stainless Steel Charcoal BBQ is available for only £39.99 at Robert Dyas

Eye bags are a big giveaway to late nights, exhaustion and aging. But a gentle filler in your tear troughs, a division between the lower eyelid and cheek, can take years off your face and leave it appearing plumper, perkier and more alive.
As you age your skin sags and the collagen depletes so you lose that perky look, so this is the perfect treatment to combat that hollow appearance.
I was recommended Dr Renée Hoenderkamp, founder of the London-based Non Surgical Clinic, by a trusted friend, as I am keen to try this wonder treatment.
Her secretary is warm and friendly on the phone and quickly finds me a convenient time slot on a weekend, a real advantage to anyone with a busy 9 to 5 job.
Renée, an NHS GP, medical writer and skin specialist, is warm and friendly when I meet her at her Harley Street Surgery (she also operates from one in Crouch End, North London) and explains the nifty procedure to me in detail before we get started.
She has been working in the cosmetic industry for almost a decade so has a wealth of experience.
She is careful to check that my face is suitable for the tear trough filler, based on shape, muscle laxity and volume loss, which is common with aging. I feel reassured in her capable hands and she is patient when I ask her a series of questions.
“I am always very careful not to over fill,” Renée detailed. “I also think it’s important to massage in the filler to make sure it sets.”
The treatment itself only takes around 15 minutes and it’s not painful, more uncomfortable.
Renée uses a tiny cannula, a small tube inserted into the skin for an even and proportionate delivery of the filler via a needle. She smoothly and firmly massages the filler into my skin and shapes it to my face.
Another positive aspect of the treatment is that it‘s completely dis-solvable should a patient be unhappy with the results, but this is rare.
One of the biggest perks about the treatment is there is no down time. You could literally go and have it in your lunch break. Some light bruising is possible, but it can be easily covered with make up and I am, happily, left with virtually none.
My results were instant with the shadows under my eyes disappearing straightaway.
The best effects show after two weeks with the filler settling into your face and expanding into the crevices of your troughs.
I feel instantly brighter and more youthful and notice that it’s easily taken five years off me.
People ask if I’ve had a facial or have been sleeping better. And I am, now that I’m not worrying about my saggy eye bags.
Fatt Pundit is the new talked about restaurant which creatively mixes and serves food from two different cultures: the Chinese culture and the Indian culture. You will experience the best of both worlds in one single dish! Located on 77 Berwick Street, which is 7 minutes away from Oxford Circus station, we were able to understand why there were people lining up in a queue just to experience this sensation.
The restaurant has a nice ambience. The restaurant is smaller than most restaurants but it is nothing short of amazing. You are met by the host as soon as you walk through the door who is dressed impeccably, he leads to your seat and on your way there, you are able to see the chef working tirelessly in the open kitchen, giving the customers the chance to see how the food is being prepared, which is a nice touch. The interior design is simple yet classy, mild but sophisticated.
You are handed with the menu, where there are a lot of amazing dishes to choose from!
The restaurant kindly allowed us to try multiple dishes and in every dish, you definitely see how the Indian and Chinese flavours came together!
The Mix Vegetable Momo and the Chicken Momo were the dishes to start with as our starter:
The Mix Vegetable momo is a great light starter, perfect for vegetarians. The mouthwatering momo comes on a small dish with sweet and spicy chutneys on the side. The skin of the dumpling is delicate, the same texture as the sweet tender spinach that is inside the dumpling. The mushroom adds a meaty zest to the momo and the courgette and tofu adds an authentic taste. The sweet chutney is the perfect sauce to dip these into as it compliments all the ingredients inside.
With the Chicken momo, you immediately smell the aroma of the heavenly moist chicken. The spring onions and garlic are a perfect touch and the soy gives the momo a glistening appearance. The spicy chutney is the perfect match with this momo as it kicks your tastebuds into gear.
As the menu has a veg section, we decided to try the Crispy Okra Salt and Pepper.
The Crispy Okra Salt and Pepper has to be the most creative okra dish Heart London Magazine has seen. Usually okra is served with yam in African households but this crispy-coated okra is genius. You experience both hard and soft textures: the hard crispiness of the outer skin of the okra and once you bit into it, you are met with the velvety-sauced okra. The garlic gives the meal an additional twang and the chillies give an overall fiery kick.
For the seafood section of the menu, the Crunchy Peppercorn Crab was the dish choice that was picked.
This dish will definitely get your attention! When you see those words on the menu, you try to work out exactly what this dish is. Your instincts (and your tummy) will be telling you to order this and it will be a decision well made. This dish is colourful, the crunchy golden brown crab is decorated with charred scallion, red peppers, coriander and it sits on a pool of wok-blistered corn. The crab is incredibly tasty and soft, almost feather-like and the peppers, scallion and coriander add a savoury flavour to the crab. The chewy sweet corn has a subtle salty taste.
For the Meat, Game + Poultry, We decided to go for the Manchurian Chicken.
The presentation of the Manchurian chicken was exceptional. Served on a wooden slab, the two pieces of Manchurian chicken sit with its bones intertwined with each other. The coriander sits on top of the chicken, not only making the dish look more amazing but also giving off a lemon-lime like scent, vigorous and sweet. The appetizing chicken was cooked to perfection; it was full of flavour, which was only enhanced by the spicy chutney, which came in a small pot on the side.
For all noodle lovers, the Vegetable Hakka Noodles with bean sprout, cabbage and green onion is the best choice for you as a side dish. The lightly salted noodles are well cooked and the crispy cabbage adds a natural scent to the meal. The green onion adds a luscious garlic taste and is a good match with the nutty, crunchy taste and texture of the beansprout.
The Pak Choy as a side dish is also great! The whole Pak Choy was well done; it is the perfect light side dish to have when you are eating a filling main meal. The Pak Choy is fresh and organic; it shines as it swims in a little bit of sauce, which gave the Pak Choy a little sweetened taste. You can never go wrong with Pak Choy. One of Heart London Magazine’s favourite dishes to eat!
The desert was the ultimate finish to the ENTIRE MEAL. Have you ever heard the phrase ‘go all out with a bang’? Well Fatt Pundit makes sure that you finish your last course of your meal with exactly that, a big bang!
The Sizzling Brownie with vanilla ice cream is honestly the most exciting and exhilarating desert Heart London Magazine has ever seen. Such a sight for sore eyes! Coming is a circular black metal saucepan; a ball of vanilla ice cream sits neatly in the middle on the dish on top of the chocolate brownie as chocolate sauce surrounds it. The waiter will proceed to pour hot chocolate all over the vanilla ice cream. As soon as it mixes with the chocolate sauce that is already in the dish, it begins to sizzle, heating up the dish in a sense. As it takes a few seconds to stop sizzling, when you simply take your spoon to cut into the ice cream, the brownie, all topping it with the chocolate sauce, you begin to hear the angels sing. The hotness of the chocolate sauce and the wintry ice cream, when the best of both worlds come together like that, it can only be one thing; EPIC!
If you would like to go a restaurant that intertwines foods and cultures from different places and executes that principle perfectly, Fatt Pundit is the place where you should go, there is no doubt about that.
I am at the age where those pesky greys are creeping in and whilst I am lucky, as having fine hair they don’t really show, they are certainly there. The Gina Conway Salon Spa’s prices are very reasonable for an upscale salon, at only £26 to £35 for a root refresh, keeping those greys at bay won’t break the bank.
From the moment you step in the door you are made to feel welcome by the bubbly receptionist and are met with a beautiful fragrance in the air. The salon itself is very stylish, with tall ceilings and a grand coved ceiling. A range of products adorn a stand-alone shelf which separates the salon into two areas and modern hanging lights give the salon a warm glow. My first appointment was for a quick patch test and consultation.
On arrival for my hair appointment, I was treated to a relaxing shoulder and neck massage with beautiful Aveda oils. They certainly know how to pamper you at this wonderful salon. My stylist and I decided on a colour on a beautiful warm brown colour, a cut and a protein treatment on my hair which as you can see from the before photo was looking a little dry. My wonderful stylist Wagner mixed the permanent dye with semi-permanent so the product was not too strong for my fine hair. He certainly was knowledgable about different types of hair informing me that grey hair can actually make fine hair thicker! Perhaps those pesky greys are not so bad after all.
This is no ordinary hair salon, you will think you have stepped into a spa with the pampering they provide. I was overjoyed by the results! From the relaxing hand massage to a shoulder massage as you arrive. You will step out of the salon not only looking but feeling like a million dollars!
You will step out of the salon not only looking but feeling like a million dollars!
I have 2 young children and felt that it was about time I did something to kick start shifting my baby weight. I don’t really have time to exercise apart from running around after my kids so figured that a juice cleanse might be the way to go.
I decided to go straight for a 7 day cleanse. I know I could have done a 3 day or a 5 day one, but I wanted to challenge myself and see if I could do it and see what the benefits would be. I was a bit worried as I had a few concerns before starting it. My fears were that I would be left hungry for 7 days, that I would get bored, I would cheat, I would feel no different, that I would have no energy or that I wouldn’t enjoy it. I was totally surprised at how I felt in the end.
For the first couple of days, I was really surprised at how full I actually felt at the end of each day. I often didn’t even want my 4th juice but I knew it was important to have all 4 juices every day so I made sure i did. I was tempted by ‘real’ food for the first couple of days but that was because I was in a lot of social situations over the weekend where food was everywhere. I found that on day 3 when I wasn’t around lots of food, I didn’t fancy it. I realised that I don’t need to be strong willed and resist food, I just need to remove it from my vision. If I don’t see it, I don’t want it. If I were to do this again I wouldn’t do it over a week where I was going to be around lots of tempting food. The funny thing is, I felt doubly proud of myself for not eating and then even more proud that I was just putting fruit and veg into my body.
I started to get a headache on day 3 but was told this is normal as I have cut out caffeine so it could be that. I unfortunately caught a bug from my youngest child which didn’t help with my headache but I then thought that all the extra vitamins I was taking in would surely heal me faster? What I was really surprised by was the fact that every single juice I have had has tasted delicious. I am not a fan of spinach or broccoli but I couldn’t even taste them in my juices. I honestly thought I would hold my nose and have to force myself to drink them but I genuinely thought that they were really tasty. There’s enough variety in there so I don’t get bored yet I did start to get familiar with some of them as they repeated in the schedule which was quite nice as I knew what flavours to expect.
My energy levels weren’t the best and I often found that I was feeling tired in the evenings much earlier than normal but again, I was told this might happen so was quite happy to get into bed a little earlier each night. I lost 4lbs in total which I was very happy about. I’ll be honest, I was happy to be able to eat food again but funnily enough it wasn’t my usual junk food I was craving… I was actually excited about having a piece of protein and some veg.Overall I had a great experience. I definitely plan in doing this every few months. I feel like I pressed a reset button on my body. It’s not just a cleanse for the body but also for the mind and I have walked away from this feeling invincible!

As soon as you enter Old Compton Brasserie, you are immediately seduced by its cultured interior design. Located 5 minutes away from Leicester Square Station, which can be accessed on the Piccadilly line, this restaurant is the perfect place for ANY occasion. Once you enter Old Compton Brasserie and the waiters lead you to your seats, you see people laughing, talking the day away and thoroughly enjoying themselves, which give testament to how relaxed the environment is in this restaurant. The fact that there were so much people there on a Wednesday night symbolises how popular this restaurant is. The brasserie is very spacious; the tables are not right next to each other, which allows you to have room to walk past people. There are different sized tables, which proposes that Old Compton Brasserie are able to cater to different sized parties, whether it is a big or small family or a big or small set of friends. There is an intimate setting in the restaurant; candles on the tables, the lights dimmed down low and jazz music playing through the speakers which adds a certain ambience, making it a perfect place for couples. You can also conduct your business meetings there; there is space at the back of the restaurant where you can have a booth section for you and your party, away from the noisy sections of the restaurant. Once seated by the lovely staff, you are handed a menu, which has a white background with black normal handwriting, making it very easy for you to see what is on offer. We wished we were able to pick everything off of the menu as there was so MUCH to choose from (sometimes that can be a blessing and a curse) but the dishes we choose phenomenal choices. Let us tell you, Old Compton Brasserie DID NOT disappoint.
For the starter, we picked the Beef Fat Crispy Fried Potato and the Beetroot Cured Salmon.
The Beef Fat Crispy Fried Potato is definitely a starter, which makes a statement! The potato is incredibly fresh and crispy, there are vegetable leaves which are presented on top of the potatoes, give off a youthful scent and the caviar, which sits on top of the leaves, tastes absolutely extraordinary! This is a dish, which harbours a lot of flavours, only to create that ONE infused unbelievable taste once you eat everything together. There are no words to describe that experience! The crème fraiche on the side is rich and tart.
The beetroot Cured Salmon is a perfect light starter choice. The horseradish cream adds a little fiery kick to the meal, balancing out the buttery flavour of the avocado, the slight sourness of the picked fennel and the natural aroma of the beetroot. The sourdough crouton compliments the salty taste of the silky salmon.
For the main meal, the Grilled Lamb Rump and the Braised Shin of Beef were the dish choices.
The Grilled Lamb Rump is a spectacular dish. The lamb was cooked to perfection, absolutely mouthwatering and the Lyonnais potatoes were so light and feathery! The creamy spinach was exactly that, creamy and delicious in flavour. The hand cut golden fries, which was the side dish that came with this meal were crunchy and crispy.
The Braised Shin of Beef is an absolute delight! If you would like a dish that is quite filling, then Braised Shin of Beef is the dish you should pick, that is a promise! The beef is succulent and filled with luscious juices. The roasted onions were sweet which amplified the exquisite taste of the beef. The carrots were delicately cooked and the gravy sauce which accompanied the whole meal gave it a nourishing essence overall.
If you are a big cheese lover, like many of us are at Heart London Magazine, then Cauliflower Cheese is the perfect side dish choice for you. Served in a minuscule saucepan with handles of both sides, the fragrance of melted cheese dances underneath your nose. The bronzed appearance of the melted cheese makes you excited to tuck in! As soon you take a fork and begin to cut into the dish, the sweet aroma of cauliflower makes an appearance as you begin to see the cauliflower hiding under the cheese. The cauliflower is extremely soft and well cooked and the savoury smell of the cheese creates a great zest in your mouth!
Desert was an ABSOLUTE TREAT!
Berry Pavlova is a colourful dish! The colour red beams in your face when the waiter arrives with the desert in their hand. You become immediately obsessed with how perfect the dish looks. The appearance of the dessert is fantastic. A juicy, sauced berry sits proudly on top of a circular golden brown pastry. Other berries are underneath the pastry that has been placed on top and at the bottom of the dish sits a pool of creamy white chocolate sauce. Berry sauce swims around the dish in the perfect fashion. The berries make a great match with the savoury pastry. The velvety white chocolate sauce adds a candied taste to the meal while the berries give off a fresh, virginal scent.
Sticky Toffee Pudding is an original classic, perfect for both adults and children. The presentation of this dessert dish was exceptional. The ball of vanilla ice cream sits gently on top of the warm and toasty toffee pudding and smoothly melts all over the pudding, resembling the beautiful sight of a tropical waterfall. As both the pudding and the vanilla ice cream are positioned in the middle of the plate, toffee sauce surrounds it, which contributes to the rich toffee scent. You get the best of both worlds, hot and cold which together creates a sensational tang.
For drinks we had a chance to try the Watermelon Lemonade and Pinot Noir.
The Watermelon Lemonade is exceedingly refreshing; it has the right balance of sweet and sour and the flavours of watermelon and lemon intertwine perfect. The perfect drink for summer
The Pinot Noir has a complex and intriguing taste. It is unbelievably smoothing and it has a round finish. Dazzling.
If you are looking for a place, which has AMAZING food, great music then perhaps, you should visit Old Compton Brasserie. Old Compton Brasserie is DEFINITELY in Heart London Magazine top 5 restaurants.
It’s almost rude to go to Devon without enjoying a cream tea. The tradition has garnered momentum and quickly become a quintessential treat among locals and tourists visiting the area.
There’s something wholly fulfilling and delightful about chowing down on a home-made crusty scone, piled high with thick Devonshire clotted cream and sweet jam, preferably strawberry, or raspberry at a push, all washed down with a piping hot pot of tea. It’s essential when in Devon that the order of cream followed by jam is stuck to, the other way around would be Cornish (very frowned upon in these parts.)
I decided to sample the Prosecco afternoon tea at Exeter Golf and Country Club’s Wear Park restaurant. The stunning Georgian Manor House has been impeccably conserved with stylish decor, sympathetic to its period. The result is a grand dining area with plush cream carpets, regal blue upholstery and high windows overlooking the manicured gardens and golf course. The friendly and attentive staff feed into the Downton Abbey vibe making feel both welcome and at ease. At £16.50 per person the set menu is excellent value for money.
As well as a gigantic scone, generous pot of clotted cream and jam jar of the highly-rated Frank Cooper’s Oxford Strawberry Conserve, you’re also plied with with refillable tea of your choice (English Breakfast was my preferred option but herbal flavours are also available) a crisp glass of Prosecco, a selection of egg mayonnaise, Smoked Salmon and Ham and mustard crust-less finger sandwiches and a mouthwatering selection of homemade cakes. Amos, our affable waiter, told us that all our desserts had been whipped up using the best quality ingredients. We feasted on pink, green and yellow macaroons, miniature Victoria sponge cakes tops with diced strawberries, pint-sized Carrot cakes topped with cream and most delicious nutty chocolate brownies. For those who can’t quite manage the entire spread in one sitting staff happily provide a box to take home leftovers.
