I want to showcase Emily & Alec’s engagement photos from their photographic experience at Moraine Lake. Moraine Lake is nestled in the Valley of the Ten Peaks. This location is not only breathtaking and world-renowned as a top destination in the Rockies but offers the perfect setting for romance and beauty. Emily and Alec embraced each other as the sun shone and high cold winds swept through the valley.
The Canadian Rockies as they love the outdoors
A brisk day it was, so I wasted no time in capturing every detail that was important to Emily & Alec. They hugged, laughed, unposed, and expressed joy throughout the shoot. They ventured from the USA via Calgary to camp and explore The Canadian Rockies as they love the outdoors. It’s something they shared a deep passion for. They would stand in areas hiked by less to take in the full glory of the mountainous environment.
Like true adventurers, we headed into other areas less known around Moraine Lake. Not far from the more touristy spots, is a patch full off fallen boulders that are huge, rugged and stunning. I have personally found this locale to be my hidden gem for photographs in the field of Lake Louise. Today it offered shelter from the wind and gave us time to settle and seize tender moments caught in a photo.
Alec shielded Emily as her goosebumps emerged
Alec shielded Emily as her goosebumps emerged. Exploring their love for each wasn’t hard as Alec genuinely loves Emily and he didn’t want her to be cold. These tender moments led to photos that meant a lot to them as there was no acting involved to show how much the cared for each other.
A considerable part of a photograph is the history behind it. To capture the real bond between anyone can be difficult, so I first explore what it is that one loves about the other. Combining the sincere love of people with creative photographs is more important to me now than ever. I believe it is worth taking the time ahead of a shoot to learn about people and it is essential as then and only then can you celebrate them as who they are.
I truly believe in love and emotions
I truly believe in love and emotions. I feel we need to express and show each other how much we care for each other. It is different for everybody, but for me, when I am photographing couples or families, it’s about allowing people to feel safe with me and giving them the opportunity to show it.
Emily and Alec share a special love. I hope you see it in these photographs. Thank you both for allowing me to share in your fun day in the Rockies.
One last thing, if you’ve enjoyed this post, please share it with friends on our social networks. Much Love xo
Johnston Canyon hike is a picture perfect location set within The Banff National Park. Johnston Canyon will stun your senses and imagination and sets the perfect backdrop for me to capture sensational photos of you and your loved ones. To say Johnston Canyon will excite you as you hike through this deep canyon is an understatement.
Traveled by many, this Banff National Park masterpiece has been carved by water over the years leaving you rubbing your eyes for its blinding beauty. This canyon has rock walls that you can touch that will leave a positive mark within you.
Banff and Calgary engagement photographer
Trina and Victor are two adventurous and super fun engaged peeps. Totally in love, I learned about them before the shoot allowing me to photograph them in the way they see each other through their eyes. I am a Banff and Calgaryengagement photographer who doesn’t learn what’s important to you during your engagement shoot, I learn what’s important to you prior to your shoot. I find it allows my clients to just have fun entrusting me to photograph these emotions and time in your life.
that glimmer in his eyes when she laughs
What I can tell you about Trina and Victor is the sincerity of their connection to each other. A photographer (whom I cannot remember right now), said love can be expressed in more ways than a kiss. I totally agree! Therefore, sometimes I see feet connecting, or hands joining, or that glimmer in his eyes when she laughs; I put my couples so at ease that I’m merely a shadow engage in joyful play of a couple in love.
The wine is by far the worst tasting they’ve ever shared
What journey will your hearts take when you view the photos? For many, you might see feet or hands. But to Trina and Victor, they see a connection. A movie night maybe on the couch intertwined full of popcorn while sharing a bottle of wine. The wine is by far the worst tasting they’ve ever shared, but yet it’s the best wine in the world as it connects them and they’ll never forget the laughter and hugs they had during the movie. Which by the way was the worst movie ever.
Does it matter how good something is if you’re sharing it will the one you love? What takes us on a journey of life and where we go as we travel far for school separating the souls but not the hearts.
I do want to say hi to Faye Epic Events who is hard at work making sure Trina & Victor’s wedding day is the most perfect day ever. Love you Faye, thank you for everything you do, you are amazing.
Have a fabulous day and please comment below the final photograph and share this blog post on your social networks. Share the love.
Can you imagine experiencing the ultimate adventure for your elopement? This couple did! They eloped by taking a helicopter to the top of the world. Their wedding day started in Canmore, Alberta. Located just 20 kilometers from Banff, Canmore sits in the Canadian Rockies within reach of the gorgeous and famous Banff National Park. The Canadian Rockies is the perfect place for a destination wedding and provides the unique opportunity for a heli-wedding. This heli-wedding was organized by the incredible marriage commissioner and guide Martha. Martha is a talented and experienced guide who provides the highest level of service for your heli experience.
Brittany and Peter had their first look located at the Alpine Helicopter base in Canmore, Alberta right outside of their personal helicopter. An emotional first look led us into our private helicopter that thundered quickly into the air.
With excitement flowing in everyone’s veins, we flew over the Rockies to land in a secret location known to our personal Canadian Rockies guide, Martha. Landing softly by the skilled Alpine helicopter pilot we all huddled out of the helicopter and bent down walking to a safe area.
Brittany and Peter held each other and laughed
Grabbing each other tightly, Brittany and Peter held each other and laughed as the helicopter took off with a huge disruption of airflow with Brittany’s wedding dress flowing with the air. Peter held his bride as the Alpine Helicopter took off and within seconds it was peaceful.
The silence that surrounded us was almost deafening and the beauty and magnificence of the towering mountains that were now below, were mind-blowing. We soon came to the realization that we were alone. Nobody was around. This was truly an elopement that many bride and grooms can only dream about.
Clear skies with the gentle flow of a breeze
As the gracefulness of our surroundings set in, slowly sound did show itself with the gentle singing of birds. Clear skies with the gentle flow of a breeze set for a stunning location that was our private wedding venue in The Canadian Rockies.
Martha is a licensed marriage commissioner and she set the relaxed stage for Peter and Brittany’s vows. As I photographed this lovely couple, I could hardly contain my emotions. I had to pinch myself that this was real. After emigrating to Canada in the year 2000 and moving to Canmore this really was a dream to be experiencing such a moment.
Brittany and Peter soon kissed and they were married!!! Much joy, laughter, and hugs were shared and easily captured in a hike set amongst the majestic landscape. What a fantastic place to have an elopement photography session.
Exploring the sessional scenery with my creativity and being personally guided by Martha, the sun popped in and out supplying me with the perfect light for a dramatic photography shoot.
The Canadian Rockies are huge. With the correct lens, I aimed to capture the environment we were exploring placing Brittany and Peter in locations unknown to them that were breathtaking behind the camera. The human eye is incredible where we see so much but the camera is an exciting dimension that captures a medium resulting in a piece of art.
After the correct editing technics, wedding photographs printed either alone or within a collection piece can be loved forever. Walking into ones home and seeing this piece of hanging wall art will forever take one back to that very special moment in time.
The quietness of The Canadian Rockies vanished
An incredible couple of hours passed, and we hiked back to our pick-up location and within minutes our Alpine Helicopter pilot emerged from the mountain valley. The quietness of The Canadian Rockies vanished as we all squatted as skilled helicopter pilot landed within arms reach of us.
Huddling into the helicopter, seat belts secured we took off to end this incredible experience as we flew through the Rockies. Brittany and Peter’s elopement was fresh as they held each other hand-in-hand as we viewed Canmore’s famous Three Sisters Mountains.
Landing at the Canmore Alpine Helicopter Pad, everyone hugged and with a marriage license in hand Brittany and Peter left as Mr & Mrs.
I cannot thank Martha enough for creating the most perfect elopement. Combining Martha’s warm character with her awesome knowledge as a guide, and a marriage commissioner, seriously how lucky it would be for any couple to have Martha arrange their heli-wedding day for them.
I am an experienced mountain wedding photographer
If you are looking for an adventure and something different and you want to head out into The Canadian Rockies or Banff National Park, we need to meet and chat. I have always been an adventure based person! I have explored the Rockies by ice climbing, hiking, mountain biking, heli-skiing and was a ski mountaineer for years before deciding I must emigrate to Canada. I am an experienced mountain wedding photographer and yes I’m based in Calgary! As a Calgary wedding photographer, I’m always seeking couples who want an amazing experience. If it’s not at the top of a mountain, let it be at the bottom, or somewhere unique and beautiful to you. My 12 years of professional photography is yours to explore. Are you ready for an incredible experience, if so, let’s chat?
The magnificent towering allure of the Canadian Rockies brings travelers from all over the world. From hiking, climbing, and biking in the summer months to cross-country, downhill skiing and heli-skiing in the winter, there is an abundance to see and do in Banff and Lake Louise.
I feel lucky each and every day to live so close to Lake Louise as a Calgary wedding photographer, so I was not surprised when Jana & Ryan traveled from California to experience The Canadian Rockies for a winter engagement shoot! Beaming in its full glory, the famous Banff National Park was showcasing everything and more as to why people travel to The Rockies.
All the glory the Rockies offer is the reason I emigrated from England to Canada. I had to live close to Banff and Lake Louise so that I can explore all the wonder the mountains offer. Living the dream brings a great deal of happiness to me so when I’m hired to capture such special moments in this location, I am thoroughly excited.
Combining a lot of laughter with hugs and love in The Canadian Rockies
We decided to explore the Victoria Glacier in Lake Louise by snowshoes. Combining a lot of laughter with hugs and love in the Canadian Rockies, we trudged through the deep snow Lake Louise offers. Deep snow running with snowshoes on for two people who were used to walking hand-in-hand barefoot on their California beach made my ribs split with happiness. Seeing their genuine love and enthusiasm for each other was a sensational way to spend my afternoon.
With The Fairmont Chateau Lake Louise in the background, blue skies and Lake Louise Ski Resort seen behind the hotel, l how much better could this location get?! It’s often hard to believe how lucky one is when we’re surrounded by such awesomeness and that I’m here capturing an extraordinary moment in time for this couple.
How can we bring this vulnerability out and feel safe?
Years ago I changed the meaning of an engagement shoot. For me, an Engagement Shoot can offer so much more than photos. The standard thinking is an engagement shoot is a way to warm up to their wedding day photography or a tick list thing to get done. Not at Geoff Wilkings Photography! I strongly believe in getting to know my clients and most importantly, learning what you love about one another. What is important to you? What is the most valuable attribute of your partner? How can we bring this vulnerability out and feel safe? I think that any photographic experience is about what is essential to you and understanding how you see your loved one. I explore this during an engagement shoot so I can discover if it’s the way you look at your partner lips, eyes, hands and more. Allowing to photograph within any situation and anywhere and knowing what is essential to you results in photographs that have more meaning. Isn’t this more important than “practicing” or a “warm-up” to your wedding day. These are the photographers that are Wall Art worthy.
Learning what is important to you ahead
What happens if a couple doesn’t opt for an engagement shoot? Does this mean that the bride and groom will have inferior photographs on their wedding day? Nope, far from it at Geoff Wilkings Photography. As a fulltime professional photographer in Calgary, Banff, Lake Louise and other exciting areas I treat all photography shoots the same. Learning what is important to you ahead of time allows for a fabulous shoot and no warm-up is required. Isn’t that more important and have more meaning? Doesn’t this hold more depth than just a shoot that has no emotion and connection to you? I believe it does and my couples love my approach along with me.
Why hire a wedding planner, do I need a wedding planner and what does a wedding planner do? These are some pretty big questions and they might be swirling around your head regarding your wedding. The first question though might be; can I plan my wedding myself or should I hire a wedding planner. My first question to you is, why are you thinking about hiring a planner in the first place? Do you stress easily when planning events? Do you want to remember your day as a day of love and fun rather than a day full of organization, possible concerns or worries?
Weddings are an incredible event, and they do have a price tag, so it is essential to figure out how important it is to you. Ask yourself, what do you value and what is paramount to you? Let me explain. What happens if you lose something that you love dearly like your iPhone? Or what happens if your TV stops working? You will likely just go out and replace them. You determine right away that they are of value to you. A wedding is no different. Such investment into one of the most important days of your life cannot be underestimated. So if you decide you need help to make your day perfect, then you should explore this avenue.
If you think you need a planner
A quick disclosure, I am not being paid by anyone to write this article. I want to make it clear that not every couple needs a wedding planner, but I am here for all bride and grooms, so if you think you need a planner, I want to help you and give you my thoughts on the topic. I’m here for the right reason as I sincerely CARE. If you have questions, I’d LOVE to answer any questions you might have.
What does a wedding planner do?
Okay: when I meet a new couple for the first time pretty much every time questions materialize like, “what does a wedding planner do?”, “should I hire a wedding planner?”, “what are your thoughts on wedding planners?”, or “are they needed?” I often say, “why are you considering a
wedding planner?” The answers are pretty vague, like, “I’m not sure, my friends had one.” Or, “I was told to look into it, do you think they are worth it?” I do suggest a number of things and one is that they meet with at least 3 wedding planners and find the one that suits their needs best. Yes, it might add to the cost of a wedding by hiring a professional but again, what value do you place on such experience?
Side note: I know when I got married in Jamaica if it were not for the wedding planner I’m sure our day wouldn’t have gone so incredibly well. In all honesty, when it’s you getting married, there is SO much to do, and it can be overwhelming. A wedding planner made my wife and me much happier. They kept our vision yet told us when we were missing a few key details. She recommended what flowers to use, what cake we may like, where on the resort to get married in and where we should have our reception. She was awesome. She ran into a colossal hiccup during our wedding day. The catamaran company she recommended, double booked that day. We were without a boat for our reception which was the focus of our day. She had a vendor that messed up, and she knew she had to fix it, and she did. Instead, she hired a private yacht, and she saved the day. It was spectacular. All of this was taking place behind the scene without any knowledge to us allowing us to love our day without the stress.
A great planner will put out all fires
Wedding planners (the right ones) come with HUGE amounts of experience, and they offer a stress-free environment for the engaged couple. Knowing how to run a wedding day successfully comes with tons of knowledge and experience. Planners can be truly incredible and they work so hard giving the bride and groom so much. A great planner will put out all fires without you even knowing that they’re happening.
Now for the details:
When looking for help from a wedding planner, there are a few options available:
Day of Coordinator
A la Carte Planner
Full-Service Planners are (generally speaking) the ones who do it all for you from designing your event (Event Designer) to the tiny details of your day. Finding the right one for you can take time, or you meet the first one, and you love them. Some are chilled; some or not so chilled, some limit there their bookings to a few weddings a year. Listen to your gut when you interview wedding planners. Don’t be dazzled by the sparkles but look at the work you’ll receive in the end if possible.
Think of it this way, if you were having a new house built from scratch you’d need an architect to design the building. They won’t (generally speaking) build the building, you’ll have to source out a builder. This is the same concept for your wedding day. You have hired someone to create a vision and thus designed your event. Now, these people often have connections in the industry from hardware, florists, to stationers and are one advantage of working with an event designer.
Day of Coordinator:
These companies aim to make sure that your day runs well and smoothly. They put into action all of your planned and booked services. How they do this one I have no idea, but they do it incredibly well. But, and there’s always a but, if you mess up in your planning, the wedding planner is not a magician, and they cannot make right a wrong choice/decision made by the bride and groom. They’ll do their best with what they have
A La Carte Planner
To me, this is where you go to a planner and purchase a checklist of what to do on your list. They likely will have their vendors and suggestions on it also. You might visit the planner in person, Skype, or phone for a consultation and they give guidance or a plan for your day.
You may be thinking, Geoff come on, nobody believes a wedding day is that hard and involves that much, how hard can it be? It’s not about being hard; it’s more about stress level, direction, how involved you want to be, or how present you want to be. For example, as Calgary wedding photographer, I have photographed bride and grooms who should have had a planner, and all day long I see in their eyes are “oh my gosh, I forgot to do this, oh my word, did the flower girls get their dresses.” You get the point; they weren’t present, and the photos will reflect this.
Honesty, love, heartfelt awesomeness wasn’t there which saddens me as I give everything and more to my couples and when they’re not mentally not emotionally present.
I believe all great wedding planners
So what happens then if you go with a wedding planner who you love, but you want to hire a service yourself, i.e., photography. I believe all great wedding planners aim to make your day easy so they’ll have preferred vendors, but no planner should not let you select your favorite artist to capture your day. If you run into problems with this, maybe the planner isn’t a great fit for you.
Another side thought: Recently, I was photographing at the fabulous, Lake Louise and I saw a gorgeous winter wedding taking place in the Victoria Ballroom. I noticed the photographer was capturing the most amazing ceremony, but no flash was set up at all (and I’m talking about basic on-camera flash). So picture this, the bride and groom have paid tens of thousands of dollars on a room with the Victoria Glacier as the backdrop. It was mid-afternoon, and the sun was beaming through the windows. Do you think that the bride and groom received any photographs with the glacier in their photographs? Maybe the bride and groom were silhouettes, which BTW would have been artistically impressive – for a few shots for sure. You might say, Geoff so what, I LOVE the natural look and not having the glacier in my wedding photographs isn’t essential. I understand but wouldn’t it be nice to have the opportunity given to you rather than have a photographer who only knows one trick. Point being, I don’t know if this was a referred photographer or not but such details are important to me, and they should be to you.
What I want for you! I intend to give you some insight into your day and your investment. If you stress easily, look at a wedding planner of some nature. They may not cost as much as you think. If you love planning, awesome. Enjoy it. Please though, delegate your wedding day event to people so you can be present in your photographs or perhaps a Day of Coordinator. It kills me to see my peeps think too much and therefore not be present during one of the most special days of their lives. Yep, it’ll come through in the photographs.
What I need you to do is to please SHARE this article, write below in the comments or drop me a note. I sincerely want to hear from you as I care.
On a beautiful fall afternoon, I ventured to Moraine Lake for an epic engagement shoot with Ashley and Brad. The wondrous Moraine Lake located a few kilometers away from the famous Chateau Lake Louise. Set deep in The Valley Of The Ten Peaks, the magnificent Rocky mountains offered a breathtaking backdrop for this autumn photo shoot.
Autumn is one of my favorite times of the year. The yellow and orange hues that the season provides sets up for some pretty epic photos. I am a Calgary based full time, professional wedding photographer, and fortunate enough to live a short drive to the mountains. I call Yoho National Park, Banff National Park and Kootenay National Park home and today; I was in the middle of them all.
destinations like Moraine Lake, simply mind-blowing
Professionally photographing couples at destinations like Moraine Lake is mind-blowing. Wanting more than ordinary photographs, I always strive for awesomeness. Correct skin tones, lighting, and contrast are essential as I want these photographs to last and remain timeless forever. My couple put a lot of energy into their photo shoot with booking hair and makeup, so I aim to go above and beyond for my peeps. I believe in engagement shoots a lot and not for the most obvious reasons, maybe it’s the route of Posed verses Unposed, photography!
This late September afternoon offered a wide array of weather. At one point the clouds rolled over; the rain came down, and we had to take shelter from the elements. Soon after the system went through, sunshine beamed down and created a gorgeous environment for us to explore.
If you haven’t made the journey to Moraine Lake, then you haven’t yet seen the natural landmark that lays alongside the lake. Years ago, a natural rock slide occurred forming a rock pile next to the lake that now provides a heavenly staircase to a vantage point over the lake. With laughter, love, and hugs amongst Ashley and Brad, I captured some spectacular photos of them.
The turquoise colors that Moraine Lake
The turquoise colors that Moraine Lake is known for were spectacular. Ashley and Brad were awesome. I couldn’t ask for more from this photo shoot. I cannot wait to photograph their wedding this year. A big shout out to Faye at Epic Events in Calgary for recommending me to Ashley and Brad; I know their wedding day is going to be an incredible day.
Adventurous and full of love, Banff photography shoot. Debra and Brendan are two people who want to have fun, laugh and enjoy life. Meeting Debra and Brendan and getting to know them, has been so rewarding. The love they have for each other is deep and energized. You could say it packed a punch of joy which I love and was very attracted too.
We chose the Canadian Rockies for their majestic beauty and endless scenery. We are so fortunate to live near a world travel destination that offers such a vast array of photographic experiences. We picked Banff as our venue for their engagement not just because it provides an opportunity for fun and beauty, but because Debra and Brendan’s are having a city-based wedding in Calgary at the new The Guide at The Hudson Bay Building. It stands as an icon in our city core. OMGOSH, their wedding day is going to be off the charts. I might have to stay after their reception for a few drinks myself. Shush, don’t tell my assistant.
I found out what was important to them
Engagement shoots mean many different things to my clients. For me, it’s an opportunity to get to know my clients better and for them to feel comfortable with me and comfortable in front of the camera. A considerable part of my role is for my peeps to enjoy themselves and to experience not just a photo shoot but a full photographic experience. Speaking with Debra and Brendan, I found out what was important to them and focused on them and not just an epic photo. Yes, during any photo shoot you’ll get used to being photographed. However, this is not a good enough reason to engage in a forever session. Not sure what I mean, read more here.
Celebrate and reflect on these fun times every day
I am a professional Calgary wedding photographer. I give a full experience. A couple of days after an engagement shoot, I get my clients to pop by for a cinematic reveal of their photo shoot. For Debra and Brendan, it was no different. It was awesome to see their reactions, go through their photographs, try and narrow their favorites down and to place their photograph order. Prints are where it’s at, and I LOVE when my clients celebrate their life in print. I believe there is a misconception that digitals are all you need, but often get put aside and rarely looked at again. I don’t know one person who isn’t drawn to a photograph. That is what social media is all about. Instagram and Shapchat display our photos, and Facebook reminds us of an “event” that took place. When you invest in Wall Art, you get to see, celebrate and reflect on these fun times every day. Wouldn’t it be awesome to have a collection of gorgeous photos on your wall?
I also offer a unique and stunning photographic box that allows you to display your favorite images in print. You can choose to print several of your favorite photos and change them our when you desire. It is subtle and elegant and a client favorite. Debra and Brendan did just this, and I was thrilled with the outcome.
Thank you for a fantastic experience. I cannot wait for your wedding day! xo
The morning sky was blue bright and beautiful. This September day was shaping up to be gorgeous allowing me to photograph this glorious farm wedding. Days priors it had snowed, and Hoften Farms was covered in the wintery fluffy stuff. Only thing, it was still summer… Thankfully the ground was drying up quickly, and we were set for a fabulous day for Jessica & Arjan to say “I DO.”
I met Jessica and Arjan a couple of years before their wedding. They were recently engaged and so happy it was easy to see why they fell in love. We met at my studio location in Calgary many times prior to their engagement shoot and wedding day. We chatted about their relationship, what they love about one another and about what is important to each of them. This was when I learned how important their farm and animals were to them. Not only did they plan to have their wedding on their farm, but this is where they wanted their engagement shoot to be photographed. I traveled to their Dairy farm and I photographed them feeding and playing with their animals and walking around the gorgeous landscape of their land. I loved every minute of it. Curious to know if a forever session is a must for you? Dig deep here to explore.
These guys built a couple of barns
On the wedding day, I took a brief walk around their ‘wedding venue,’ and I couldn’t believe my eyes. Jessica and Arjan built another barn for the wedding celebration. Seriously, that’s crazy amazing. The amount of work they did on their land in preparation for their wedding day was mind-blowing
Hair and Makeup went amazingly well for Jessica. The guys were a ton of fun too. Once they were both ready, we did their first look. Arjan’s love for Jessica was easily visible and breathtaking. I’m a sucker for romance so getting to witness such joy between two people makes me very happy.
A fantastic day with sparklers
Located outside of their home (literally) was their ceremony. It did not disappoint. Farms are full of fields and trees and in September, the hues offered a warm rustic feel to this farm wedding. And how cool is to have your wedding outside of your home.
After their ceremony, their reception was held in the barn. Barn weddings are a template for breathtaking photos. Despite the unordinary cool temperatures for September, I was able to take these newlyweds outside and create spectacular sunset pictures. I’ve learned in my world of professional photography to create astonishing colors when you have to. A few tricks with the camera and stunning sunset photos were captured. Sparklers were lit and made for an incredible finish to this glorious fall day.
Jessia and Arjan, thank you for allowing me to photograph and share in your fabulous day.
Upon meeting Ashley at the wedding fair, I knew she was after something special. After getting to know Ashley and speaking to Clay, their photographic experience was now about finding out the true meaning of their shoot and why they wanted their shoot in Canmore. Turning up to a shoot with my artistic flare is fantastic but how on earth can you capture what is important to someone unless you find out what that is.
I learned a lot about Ashely and Clay and the love they have for each other. Canmore is a special place for them, so we planned their photographic experience in locations around this gorgeous town that I believed would match well with what they told me during our conversations.
Canmore also means a great deal to me. Canmore’s beauty and warmth is what made me fall in love with Canada. I emigrated to live in Canmore and thoroughly enjoy photographing in The Canadian Rockies. I know lots of little-hidden locations that I share with my clients. Clay, Ashley and I explored Canmore and its stunning surroundings, and we ended with a selection of meaningful photographs to Clay and Ashley.
Wall Art allows you to admire
I photographed more engagement shoots than ever in 2017. Capturing unique moments in any location provides a platform for some incredible art pieces. More than ever, my clients displayed their photos in the artwork on their home walls. Forever moving forward, I believe that change in innovation is something that not only I deserve as a photographer, but that my clients should benefit from too. Wall Art allows you to admire you and your loved ones and your memories every day rather than hiding an investment on a hard drive.
Genuine moments with real meaning is my driver
2018 is another year of innovation, and I’m very excited that I will be sharing this journey with you. Fo Life is incredibly precious, and I feel that it is my responsibility as a professional photographer and someone who sincerely cares about each client to provide a service that is exceptional. Award-winning photography has been vital to me, but quite honestly, this has never been a driver for my business. Genuine moments with real meaning is my driver, and with my new family website, you will experience a fabulous wave of honesty in my photographs that is not seen very often within photography.
Thank you, Ashley and Clay, for a fabulous photography session in Canmore.
Don’t be shy, please share the love below with friends and family members. If you enjoyed these photographs there’s a very good chance someone else would love to see them also.
A gorgeous wedding at The Glenmore Sailing Club, two phenomenal peeps and a ton of fun. Audrey and Rex are super relaxed yet wildly fun and full of energy and lovers of life.
The day started in Inglewood with a fabulous first look after Rex & Audrey got ready. Rex was getting excited as he waited for his future wife to be. It was a steaming hot day in Calgary but Rex was not showing any sign of it as he remained calm and relaxed. When Audrey turned up and walked across the field, it was worth the wait. Audrey looked stunning, and her beautiful beaming smile I knew was going to make Rex melt.
Capturing their love as Rex turned to see Audrey was a fabulous moment. What I do for a living is more than showing up and snapping away. Being in the right place at the right moment and witnessing a show of events of sincere love is truly worth every minute I spend in getting to know my couples.
After their first look, we went for our creative session around downtown Calgary which was a blast. They allowed enough time for this photography session, so we didn’t have to rush things. There’s nothing worse than forcing moments due to no time to photograph my couples. Non posed but true organic fun moments were photographed leaving Audrey and Rex a huge selection of fabulous photographs to have forever. One reason why their shoot was so much fun was that of their engagement shoot that took place in Banff. Rex and Audrey were used to being photographed which in turn made things super fun and easy my end.
Venturing off to the ceremony located at the Glenmore Sailing Club, Kelly our wedding planner had been working hard on the scene creating the perfect setup for the bride and groom. Tamara gave them away as they said the “I do’s” and the party started. Wow, was it a fabulous party!
gorgeous sunset, evening sparklers, partiers
With a gorgeous sunset, evening sparklers and lively partiers Rex and Audrey’s evening were magical. In fact, this was the first sunset I’d seen in ages due to the forest fires located far away in Banff, The Canadian Rockies. We ventured out on the dock until the sun was hidden and below the horizon. Seeing opportunities with the blue sky, we captured their venue in the background.
Following their first dance, the party hit new height followed by an exit of 70 plus sparklers. I loved this wedding day so much. The relaxed nature of it, incredible people and lots of love to be shared.
I have to say, this wedding day is going to look stunning in Rex and Audrey’s wedding heirloom album. When they snuggle up in 10 years time and look back at their wedding day they’ll love this album even more.
