All the hype right now is around building your network marketing business using social media.

I think using only social media is a bad idea, so I put together this blog post that will show you effective ways other than social media to build your network marketing business.

Using ONLY social media to build your business is not a good idea. The biggest reason is you don’t own any of the content you post. You don’t even own your own profile! The best way to do network marketing without social media is with blogging. With a self-hosted WordPress blog, you own all the content and you can never be shut down unless you don’t pay your hosting bill.

Should You Do Marketing Outside Of Social Media

You never want to put all of your eggs in one basket. Building your business just on social media is doing just that.

I can’t tell you how many times I’ve seen people get put in Facebook jail were they did have full access to their accounts for a period of time.

Think about it, if you only had Facebook and they shut you down for a week or more what would happen to your business? It would all but stop. You don’t own your content or even your profile.

If you’re looking to stay in business for the long haul I highly suggest you market outside of social media.

Now I’m not saying don’t use social media. I think that would be crazy not to utilize that platform but don’t make that your only way your business runs.

In fact, here is a short training I put together covering five ways you should be using social media. Check it out if you’re interested.

Here Are Some Marketing Ideas Other Than Social Media

My main way of marketing is through my blog. My blog is my home base on the internet. My marketing machine looks like a wheel.  All my social media profiles are like little spokes in that wheel and my blog is in the middle. All those spokes point back to my blog.

So if my Twitter account or Facebook account get’s shutdown, it doesn’t matter, because my blog is still up generating me leads and making sales for me.

I know I talk a lot about blogging and learning marketing but if you want to make money fast and get off your business off the ground you better be prospecting, especially in the beginning when you’re first getting started.

This is where social media can really shine and I think should be heavily used.

The Fastest Way To Make Money

There are two kinds of marketing, there is passive marketing. This where you put out some content such as a blog post or video and you hope that someone responds to it and reaches out to you.

Then there is active marketing. This is where you are reaching out to people to see if they are at least open to taking a look at your business.

The fastest way to make money when you are brand new is to do active marketing.

Active marketing can be simply sending someone a Facebook message. Here is the general flow you should always follow. By the way, I got this formula from my man Ray Higdon and it flat out works. So use it in your business.

  • Always use their name in the first sentence.  “Hey or Hello {Insert First Name}
  • Have a good genuine opening sentence. Check out their profile for clues.
  • Tell them why you’re messaging them. “I read your response to that Facebook post and thought it was great.”
  • Ask them a question. “Do you mind if I ask what do you do for a living?”

Here’s a general idea of how this could look in a conversation.

You: “Hey, Michelle I wasn’t going to send this message went ahead and sent it anyway. I didn’t want to come as all weird or like a spammy message lol, but I did really dig your post on (mention the post or group page) and you seem like you have your stuff together. Do you mind if I ask what do you do for a living?”

Michelle: “Oh hey, thanks for the message and the compliment. I’m actually a registered nurse.”

You: “Oh yeah, how long have you been doing that?”

Michelle: “About 5 years.”

You: “That’s awesome, have you ever considered doing anything else?”

Michelle: “Actually, I have been looking to maybe do something different.”

You: “Oh ok, since you shared that with me, you might want to take a peek at what I do. If you’re open I could send you over some information, if not no big deal.”

With prospecting just keep things simple and above all don’t be weird with people. If it feels weird to you it probably feels weird to them.

Now when you learn how to do attraction marketing and build a brand these conversations are a lot easier to have because your prospects are the ones reaching out to you.

What Is A Brand

So let’s tackle this question what is the brand? Your brand is something that you are known for when someone says your name what immediately comes to mind. That is your brand.

When you’re talking about branding online you want your name to be associated with something, for example, if you google my name Dereco Cherry you will see my videos and blog post come up. You will see all the content that I have been putting out.

What you won’t see is my name with my network marketing company all over it.

A lot of network marketers get this wrong. They go out and brand themselves around their company. This can work but only for people who have built really large teams. Those people have a little more play in the things they can do.

What happens if you decide to change companies? Or if your company goes out of business or gets shut down?

That’s why it’s important to build your brand around you and own your email list.

Should You Build A Brand

Like I mentioned above, if you want are wanting to stay in business for the long haul you absolutely want to build your brand.

If you’re just looking to make a quick buck and not take this business series then no you shouldn’t build your brand.

How To Build A Brand Without Social Media

Building a brand without social media is not difficult at all.

Here my suggestions, like I’ve been saying from the beginning have your own self-hosted WordPress blog. I put together a good starter guide for blogging.

You can create videos on YouTube. Yes, I know YouTube is a form of social media but I’m talking about not using Facebook, Instagram or Twitter.

Videos are a great way to leverage your time. People find and watch videos I’ve done months and even years ago. When was the last time you search for something and someones Twitter post showed up as an answer?

You searched for answers on how to build your network marketing business without using social media.  So you’re here on my blog reading and learning the answer to that question. You’re not on my Facebook profile.

You could even write articles and post them on article sites. While that wouldn’t be my first strategy, it can work.

Can A Business Survive Without Social Media

Of course, your business can survive without social media. I’m not a big-time social media person and I’ve managed to make thousands of dollars through blogging and my videos.

I do think you should find a way to incorporate some social media into your marketing plan. It’s just too big of a platform to totally ignore.

Conclusion

So let’s wrap this up you don’t need social media to build a network marketing business now there are some people who are very successful with building their business on social media but using only social media is like putting all your eggs in one basket.

You want to build your brand when you do it right, people will follow no matter where you go. If I were to Google your name right now what would show up? That’s your brand. You can change that starting right now today.

Now I’m not saying don’t use social media but I think you should take a multiple angle approach with your overall marketing plan. Utilizing other strategies such as blogging and doing videos which in my opinion is the best way outside of social media to build your network marketing business.

With a self-hosted WordPress blog, you own it, you own the content and you can never be shut down and in addition to that, you can monetize it any way you see fit opening up additional streams of income that wouldn’t be possible if you were just using social media alone.

And remember to think of your marketing plan like a wheel, your blog is at the center of that wheel and your social media profiles are little spokes that point back to your blog.

I’m sitting here going through my emails and one question that I get asked often is how to convert visitors into customers. What good is it if you get a lot of traffic but no leads or sales? Hopefully, this post will help you out.

Turning visitors into customers can be tough if not done properly. So I put together a few things I’ve learned during my time online and did a bit of research to come up with what I think is the best solution. You want all your content on your blog to answer a question or solve a problem of your target audience and at the end of all your content, you want to have a call to action or CTA. Let’s dive a bit deeper into this topic so I can show you how all of this works together.

How To Get More Traffic To Your Blog

Before we talk about getting more traffic you want to make sure you are getting the RIGHT traffic first. If your blog is based on fitness you want to get it in front of as many people interested in fitness as possible.

Before you create your first piece of content you need to know exactly who your target audience is going to be. Knowing this will make your content creation a lot easier.

All your content should be based around your target audience and their problems which we will talk more about.

Don’t worry if you don’t get it right in the beginning, you can always fine tune it as you go but at least have an idea and just don’t try to market to any and everybody.

Take my blog for example, as soon as someone lands on my site they know exactly what it is about. And if they are not interested in network marketing they’ll more than likely leave, which is what I want.

I only want people who are in network marketing or people who are looking to get started with it.

I recently did a post detailing exactly what I do to get traffic to my blog. In a nutshell, as soon as you publish a piece of content you want to share it out across all of your social media profiles. Then you what you should do is share it in a few relevant online groups. If your product or service is about cats don’t share it in a dog lovers group.

And send it to your email marketing list.

If you do those core things that will bring you free traffic to your blog. Just make sure you have a way to capture their information with some type of opt-in form or a really strong CTA which we will talk more about later in this post.

How To Find Out The Problems Of Your Target Audience

The easiest and fastest way to find this out is to go hang out where they do. For example, my core target audience is people in network marketing, so I visit sites that have network marketing forums and discussions such as Quora and Reddit. I’m also a member of several network marketing groups on Facebook, Google+, and Linkedin.

Let’s say your target audience is cat lovers, you can type cat lovers forums into google and get a list of forums full of people who love cats.

Get immersed in your niche. Since my blog is all about network marketing, it only makes sense that I would be building a network marketing business.

Attend all the training that you can on or offline. Pick up courses and books. Be ALL in.

A lot of my content comes from talking to the leads I generate online and from my coaching clients. I figure if they ask me a question, someone else has asked or at least thought about that exact question as well.

Which brings up my next point. Don’t just assume you know what your audience wants, put in the work and find out. Do your research.

HOT TIP

Another thing you can do is go to Amazon and check out the best seller books in your niche. Look in the table of contents of those best seller books. Those table of contents are great sources for ideas for your own content and since they are topics in those best seller books, you can best believe it’s a problem or an answer to a common question.

How To Solve Your Target Audience Problems

Once you find out where they are hanging out, figure out what problems they are having. What type of obstacles are they facing? What are their most pressing pain points?

If you can provide a solution to someone’s pain point, the selling part becomes easy.

Too often I see people who try and make up this imaginary problem when there are plenty of existing ones out there already.

Why You Want To Have A CTA On All Of Your Content

A CTA is a call to action. Or in other words, you want to tell your visitors exactly what to do at the end of all of your blog post.

You can say something like, “Hey, if you would more information about my product, feel free to email me at (insert your email address).”

I personally like to send people to a capture page so I can collect their name, email address, and phone number.

Heres another hot tip for you, if you have a video that explains your product or service, pull a few tips or takeaways from that video. Then you shoot a video sharing those tips or takeaways then for your call to action you can tell them where to go to get the rest of the tips and point them to your link.

If you don’t have a CTA you are essentially leaving your traffic hanging. They won’t know what to do next.

Also, you never want to have more than one CTA. If you give your audience too many choices they more than likely won’t do anything.

Conclusion

To sum things up, you want to make sure you are getting the right traffic first. Like I mentioned above you can do this by figuring out who you are trying to market too.

Don’t try and market to everyone because you’ll end up marketing to no one. When someone lands on my blog they immediately know what it is about. Your blog should do the same thing.

Then you want to go hang out where they do. Is it forums? Or maybe a Facebook group? Check out the questions that are being asked. Take notes on those questions and turn them into helpful content.

Don’t assume you know your target audience problems, get the data to back it up.

And finally, make sure you have a call to action at the end. Don’t leave your audience hanging. Tell them exactly what to do next.

Learning how to use the internet the right does have a learning curve, but if you implement what I share in this blog post you can get to the results a lot faster.

How To Make More Sales Online

You should lead with attraction marketing if you want to make more sales online. That’s where you are attracting people to you. You do that by providing solutions and answering your target audiences questions.

Attraction marketing is simple, learn something, turn around and share it. That’s how you provide solutions.

I do this all the time. When I first got started, I took so many notes but I never turned them into content. I do now and it’s made me thousands of dollars online.

Have A System

Like any traditional business, you’re going to have expenses, anyone who tells you that you can make money online without investing any money is more than likely lying to you. How many businesses do you know of that you can open up with no out of pocket expenses and make money? I’ll wait…..yea that would be ZERO.

One of the best investments I’ve made into my online business was when I invested in a system. It taught me the fundamentals of online marketing and how to do it the right way. Has it been easy? Nope, I’ve had my share of struggles and still do till this day just like every other person but I don’t quit.

Here is a resource I put together showing you the exact tools I use and what I recommend for anyone who is serious about building a business online.

Your Only Competition Is Yourself

Inside the marketing system, they have leadership levels, and it starts at L1. That’s like the hardest level to reach, it took me almost 6 years to get there. Sure a lot of people have done it way faster than I have but I’m not in any competition with anyone besides myself.

You need to have that same thought process. Don’t worry if the next person makes a sale faster than you, or generates more leads than you do. Just work on improving yourself each and every day and you’ll get there.

The results that you do or don’t get is directly tied to your daily routine. I can tell with just a few key questions how someone is doing in their business. You have to treat your home based business like a real business and not like a hobby unless you want to make hobby money. Hobbies usually cost you money last time I checked.

Do Something

The best advice I can give you is take action, take action on everything that you are learning. That’s how you get better. That’s how I made my first sale by taking action, better yet take consistent action.

Look, I can sit here and try and motivate you all day with quotes but the reality is you have to want it for yourself first. Nobody can do that for you. It’s like losing weight until you make it up in YOUR mind that you want to lose weight no amount of pep talk or motivational speaking is going to do it.

Conclusion

Online marketing is not easy, I get it, I’ve been there heck I’m still there. I’m constantly learning things working on getting better each and everyday.

Some days I’ll admit I’m more motivated than others but I always do something to move my business forward.

What you put into your business is exactly what you’re going to get out of it.

Take action on the tips I mentioned in this post. And remember you are not in competition with anyone except yourself. Work on improving yourself each and everyday.

Put the work in, take action and stay consistent.

I’m not sure if you know this or not but at the time of this blog post, there are over 2.23 billion, yes billion with a “b” active users on Facebook. With those kinds of numbers, you should NEVER have a problem finding people to talk to about your business.

Network marketing is a numbers game and with over 2 billion people on Facebook, you have an unlimited amount of people that you can connect with.

How To Use Facebook For Network Marketing

The main thing to keep mind is Facebook is social media. Look at the first word, social. People don’t get on Facebook to buy things. They come to connect with family.

But here is what most network marketers do, they post on their timeline all about their company. Their profile and cover picture says their company name and even has the product in it.

The problem with this approach you lose any chance of YOU exposing them to your business. They can and will just google search your company name. They will probably find every negative comment and information out there. You can google toilet paper and find something negative about it, seriously.

Instead of posting about what your product is, educate people. If you are in a travel company, post about the best times to book flights or when to book that hotel. Have a call to action at the end and tell them if they want more information to reach out to you.

Keep your mlm facebook posts educational. Anyone can educate which makes it more likely that your team will duplicate.

Have More Conversations

Stop trying to pitch people as soon as you meet them. Instead, have more conversations and make new friendships.

Facebook makes it easy, just take a quick peek at their profile, it will tell you everything you need know to start a conversation.

You want to find out if they have a need or problem that your business could solve. Here’s a hint, your business can solve any problem or need your prospects have. Ask questions to find out your prospects problems.

Some Tips On Having Conversations On Social Media

Keep control of the conversation. If someone is negative, let them stay negative. Don’t try to convince anyone of your business. Most new network marketers do the opposite, they try to change peoples mind.

My man Ray Higdon taught me the perfect explanation on the difference between convincing and persuasion.

Convincing is trying to get someone to do something that benefits you. persuasion is getting someone to do something they want to do for their benefit.

Don’t be to eager. People can smell your “commision breath” coming a mile away.

There are a ton of reasons why I think network marketing is the best business model.

  2. No more Alarm – Imagine waking up when you are done sleeping and not when the alarm goes off.
  3. No Previous experience or education required – Network marketing offers a level playing field for everyone. Your education, background, race or religion has zero impact on your success. You just need to be coachable.
  4. Work With People You Like – Have you ever had a co-worker you didn’t get along with at all? With network marketing you can pick and choose who YOU want to work with. If someone has a bad attitude you can simply not work with them.
  5. Residual Income – Imagine doing the work one time and getting paid for it over and over again. That is the power of residual income. It keeps coming in whether you do anything or not. The key to residual income is getting duplication going inside of your team.
  6. Low Cost To Get Started – You can get started with most network marketing companies for just a couple of hundred bucks. Once you sign-up and become a distributor you are a business owner.
  7. Unlimited Income Potential – There is no limit to the amount of money you can earn inside network marketing. You are paid off of your efforts. If you want to make more money go out there and work harder.

I just learned some awesome tips on how to get duplication in network marketing that I’m going to share with you in this post.

The MLM Recruiting Secrets I Didn’t Know In The Beginning

When I came online a few years ago, I had no clue of how this online marketing thing worked. If someone would have asked me what a capture page was they would have gotten a blank stare from me.

It wasn’t until I plugged into a marketing system that taught me how the pieces fitted together AND it kept me up to date with the ever-changing marketing strategies out here.

Maybe you are just getting started, or you’ve been online for a while but have not gotten the results you wanted. Their Success Is Not Up To You

Most people are not going to do anything. Would it be nice if everyone you recruited went out and crushed it or had the same work ethic as you? Of course. The person you recruited has to want it for themselves first. No “pep talk” motivation speech or anything is going to get a person off their butt until they make it up in their mind to do something.

Part of being a leader is learning how to identify who’s hungry for success and focus your energy and time with those people. I’m not saying you should neglect anyone but you should focus your energy on the people who are out here making it happen.

The Importance Of Duplication In Network Marketing

The importance of duplication in network marketing can’t be stressed enough. If you want that walk away residual money you have to get your team moving and shaking. Having a great product or a really good compensation plan won’t be enough to get people to duplicate.

Here are a few things I’ve learned that will help you with dupliction.

  • Keep things super simple. Don’t over complicate the process.
  • Don’t try to reinvent the wheel. Get your new distribuotors plugged into your company training. Let your company tools and resources do all the heavy lifting for you.
  • You have to lead by example. If you want your team to recruit and prospect, you have to be recruting and prospecting. They are going to do what they see you do. So set a good example.
