Do you feel like you don’t have the time to get your prospecting done for your business?

Here in this video blog post, I’m going to share some strategies you can use to get your prospecting done when you’re short on time.

Active prospecting is the number one income producing activity you should be doing, expecially if you’re just starting out. If you’re short on time here is how you can get your prospecting knocked out, make calls from your car on your drive into work, while you’re waiting to pick the kids up from school in the pickup line, while you’re sitting waiting at your kid’s sports practice or after school activities.

You have to find the time to get your prospecting done. Everyone’s schedule will be different so there is no one size fits all. You have to find what works best for you and you’re situation.

How To Prospect When You Are Short On Time

I got exposed to network marketing and online marketing world when I was employed full-time. I still work a regular 8-5 job at the time of this blog post. I’ve had to come up with creative ways to squeeze more time into my day to get my prospecting done and content creation.

What’s made it a bit easier is learning online marketing, now instead of me just cold calling or prospecting a bunch of people, I generate leads online with phone numbers. I would highly suggest you learn how to market online too so you can have people reaching out to you wanting to know about your business.

Most of the strategies I’m about to share I actually do them myself, and some I had to think about.

Enough of that, let’s jump into some of the time-saving strategies that I use in my business to get my prospecting done!

The Key To Mastering Prospecting

The key to mastering prospecting or any skill is to just do it. You can’t get better with something if you never practice.

I remember making my first call, I was nervous just like anyone else would be but I faced my fears and did it anyway. Did it suck? Yep. Everything sucks at first but the more you do it the easier it becomes.

Now I look forward to calling my leads back. I have ZERO fear of getting on the phone.

The key to mastering prospecting or any skill is to just do it.Click To Tweet In The Car

While you’re driving is a great time to make your prospecting phone calls. Make sure you use a hands free device like a bluethooth head set or speaker phone.

I’ve made countless videos and phone calls from my car. I like to call my car my mobile university. Instead of listing to music, I’ll throw on a personal development audio book or listen to a podcast.

On Your Break At Work

Instead of going to lunch with your co-workers, use that time to make calls and bring your lunch too.

What I would do is go out to my car, open up my emails and start making calls for my entire lunch break. If I had too many leads I would just call as many as I could back.

Maybe you work a mid day shift and your break is over in the evening. Most people are off work and at home which makes it a great time to make those calls.

While You Wait For The Kids The Weekend

If you’re completely slammed and don’t have the time do your prospecting on the weekend. You might have to give up hanging out with your friends while you’re in build mode.

How bad do you want it? What are you willing to give up?

One thing I’ve always understood is that in life, you have to give up something (temporarily) in order to gain something.

If you’re used to going out hanging out on the weekends maybe you need to give that up for a while until you get your business where you want to be.

How long will that take? I don’t know, it’s going to be different for everyone depending on your work ethic and how much time you are willing to put into your business.

The Evenings

Instead of watching the news for an hour, put that time towards building your business and make those prospecting calls or follow up with your leads.

I gave up my cable tv. I just have internet at my house.

Instead of using that time watching tv shows, I now use that time to work on building my business and working more on myself with personal development.

And come to think of it, I can’t remember the last time I’ve even watched a TV show besides The Walking Dead.

I’m not saying you have to cut out your cable Tv, that’s just what I did. But you will have to give up something in order to gain something.

How to Handle The Three Most Common MLM Objections

Before you go down the path of trying to overcome someone objections, make sure it’s someone you would want to work with. If they are just being closed minded about network marketing, or have a bad attitude, I wouldn’t spend any time trying to convince them otherwise. Don’t waste your time.

If you decide it’s worth your time, you first want to confirm that your prospects objection is a legit one. Most of the time they are not telling you the truth. You have to stand up to your prospects and don’t let them run you over.

I Don’t Have The Money

The I don’t have the money objection one of the most common objections. It’s usually not true too. Your prospects have the money, they just don’t see your opportunity as a priority for themselves or as a investement into starting their own business. Have some posture and be willing to call them out on their BS. If you want to truly help them, you have to be willing to get uncomfortable with your prospects.

  • Say their objection back to them in the form of a question. “Just so I’m clear John, “You don’t have access to $299 dollars to get started today?”
  • Ask them, “If you had the money would you get started today?”
  • If they say yes and they truly don’t have the money to get started help them come up with some ways to come up with the money. What can they sell? Can they lower their monthly bills? Get creative with them.
  • Ask your prospect when will they have the money to get started. Let them tell you a date.
  • Then you ask them, “If I call you on the 25th you’ll have the money to get started?”
I Don’t Have The Time

They key here is to first identify any goals or dreams they might have. Then you want to help them free up some time to help them achieve those goals and dreams.

  • Ask them, “If we can help you find an extra hour in the day to work your business, you’d be in today correct?”
  • You want to always assume the close, if they say yes they would be all in then you can work on helping them free up their time.
  • Find out what thier current week looks like. Look for ways to free up their time to work their business. Maybe they don’t watch as much TV, maybe they give up going out on the weekends.
I Need To Think About It

There’s really no way to get around this semi objection, you have to get to the core of what’s really holding them up.

  • Straight up ask them and give them a way out, “What exactly do you need to think about? If it’s not a fit for you, it’s completly cool.”
  • Hopefully by this time they will tell you what’s really holding them back.
  • Get your prospects their answers and let them review it.
  • Follow up with them again to collect a decision.
Set The Tone

You always want to be a rush when you’re out prospecting. People are attracted to busy people. So seem busy even if you’re not. You can say something like this,

Hey, I’m in a rush but I’m glad I caught you do you have a quick minute, I have something important I want to show you. How soon can you get in front of your computer for 10-15min?

I just got involved with a company that’s doing a ton of expanding and they are looking for some people. Now I can’t make any promises to you anything but if If you saw a way you could make some pretty good side money if it didn’t interfere with what you are currently doing would you be open to taking a look?

Set the appointment and get them on your presentation and collect a decsion.

Some Tips On Closing Your Prospects
  • When you get on the phone with them don’t sound desparate or ancoius.
  • Don’t be attached to the outcome. If you’re prospect says no, simple thank them for their time and keep it moving.
  • Your first question after your prospect watches a presentation should be, “What did you like best about what you just watched?”
  • A great closing question is, “Is there anything else you need to know before you get started?”
What’s The Best Time To Call Your Prospects?

The best time to call your prospects depends. If you’ve generated the leads through your blog or some other piece of content you should call them back as soon as possible. Calling your leads back helps you stand out from the pack. Most people are to afraid to even pick up the phone.

Before I call my leads back I always look at the area code to find out what time zone the person is located. Their area code is a great conversation icebreaker too. If they live in the 336 area code, I’ll ask them something about the local sports or something specific to that area.

The area code strategy works even better when you generate a lead that lives or is from the same state as  you are.

Use some common sense when picking up the phone, you don’t want to call people to early in the mornig or to late in the evening.

I personally don’t make any calls to my prospects before 10am and nothing after 9pm as a general rule of thumb.

How Many Voicemails Should You Leave?

With voicemails your goal is to simple get people to call you back. You don’t want to do anything silly like try and pitch them on their voicmail or start talking about how great your product is and the compensation plan.

In fact, you never want to pitch anyone yourself. The better way to do it is by letting a tool do it. Get them on a website or hand them a DVD.

Your prospect will immediatly look at what you’re doing and ask themselves is this something I can do or even want to do. If you go into some fancy pitch mode, your prospect will start to think they have to do that too.

I suggest having a good CRM system so you can keep track of when you called your leads. If you don’t have one feel free to reach out to me and I’ll be glad to share the one I’m using.

The first voicemail you just want to say, “Hey, this is (Insert your name) just giving you a call. You requested some information from me and I’m just reaching out. Feel free to give me a call back at (Insert your number).”

My second voicemail would go something like this, “Hey, this is (Insert your name). You checked out my site yesterday. I’m reaching out again to see how I can help you. Give me a call at (Insert your number).”

Third and final voicemail. This voicemail is where you tell your prospect you’re going to mark them off your list. “This is (Insert your name), just giving you a call to let you know I’m going to go ahead and mark you off my list. Best of luck to you in your future and thanks for taking the time to check out my website, (Insert your website or blog).

The third voicemail is the money one. You’ll get most of your return calls as people don’t like being told their getting marked off a list. They think they might miss something.

If you can’t get people enrolled in your company as distributors or customers, you’re going to have a very hard time building a business. You must be confident whether talking to someone in person or on the phone.

In this video blog post, I’m going to show you how to get over your fear of the phone and exactly things you should say.

You don’t need to have some super skill to be a good closer on the phone. When talking to your MLM leads on the phone the key to it is to figure out what they want or need in their life and use your product or service to fill that need or show them how it can help them achieve their goals.  You do this by asking the right questions and getting them to open up to you about them. When you get good on the phone you can share those skills with your teammates and help them do the same thing.

The Best Way To Generate Network Marketing Leads Online

In my opinion, the best way to generate leads online for your network marketing business is with blogging. Yes, using social media to prospect will get you a lot faster results but nothing beats blogging and here’s why,

When you publish a blog post it stays out there forever working for you around the clock. I get leads and sales from blog post I wrote years ago.

Every time I publish a blog post it’s like throwing a fish hook into the water.

With social media you have to show up each and every day to prospect people or do Facebook lives (which aren’t searchable), to keep your business moving forward.

I don’t know about you but part of the reason I wanted to build a home based business online was for time freedom. Not to be stuck to my computer all day.

Now I’m not saying using social media you’ll be at your computer all day but you will have to show up and put in the work daily.

The perfect combination, if you are just getting started, would be to do your prospecting on social media and piece of content such as a blog post a few times per week.

And if you stay consistent long enough what will end up happening is you’ll have more leads than you have time. Then you can make prospecting optional.

But make no mistake, prospecting in the fastest most effective way to build your network marketing business in the beginning.

Should You Buy Leads?

There’s nothing wrong with buying leads, in fact, if you want to get really good on the phone, calling up cold leads will whip you right into shape.

Keep this in mind if you do decide to buy your leads.

Self-generated leads are of higher quality, they’ve already been exposed to you through your content. So they know you to some extent, or they have at least seen your name or face. With bought leads, they have no clue of who you are and half the time they don’t even know how you got their phone number.

A Different Way To Think About MLM Prospecting

A mindset shift I had to do was instead of trying to convince my prospects why they should join my business I had to start thinking differently. Here’s what you do, start thinking like you’re the one interviewing them to see if their dreams and goals qualify for your time.

And let’s not throw in if they were a lead that you generated online, think about that for a second they reached out to you, you didn’t chase them down. That automatically puts you in a position of authority. Your prospect already sees you as the expert.

I generate leads on a daily basis and I still get people who are flat out rude to me. I’ll call them back and when they pick up the phone their immediately defensive. They’ll say things like, “What’s this all about?” or “I don’t remember putting in my information on a website.”

If someone is rude or mean, I usually spend zero amount of time trying to talk to that person. Those are not the types of people I want to be around.

If you stay in this business long enough you’ll come across some leads like that too but don’t worry it comes with the territory. Now I don’t pay any that stuff any attention, I just disqualify them, thank them for their time and move on to the next person.

When you’re generating 10-20 leads per day if one person says no, it won’t matter since you’ll have 19 more people to talk too. Making money online and building your network marketing business becomes a lot easier when you have an abundance of leads hitting your inbox on a daily basis.

How To Get Those Digits

I learned this strategy from a training on Ray Higdon’s blog. His wife shared a strategy on how she gets her prospects phone numbers from social media.

This is a little backwards thinking but it looks very effective,

After you’ve prospected them and built up some rapport with that person and you know they are interested in taking a look at your business opportunity.

Say something like “Hey, here’s my phone number when you have a few seconds to chat.” Now just be aware that prospect will never call you or reach out.

Then you tell them to give you their phone number so you’ll know it’s them calling. Say something like, “Shoot me your number so I’ll know it’s you calling.”

But instead of you waiting on your prospect to call, which they never will, you pick up the phone and call them. You can say something like, “Hey, I was carrying some groceries in the house and missed several calls and I didn’t have your number saved yet. But while we are on the phone got a few seconds to chat?”

I haven’t personally used this strategy yet but I’m going to start.

What I’ve been doing up until this point is just asking prospects, “Do you have a few seconds to jump on the phone for a quick call?”

And for the most part, people will give you their phone number if you didn’t come off all creepy and spammy during your conversation.

How Many Voicemails Should You Leave?

I’d say the max is three voicemails. Anything more and in my opinion you’ll be coming off as desperate. First voicemail could say, “Hey, just giving you a call at our scheduled time, hope everything is all right, give me a call back when you can.”

Wait at least 24 hours then call back again. If no answer leave this message, “Hey, don’t know if you got my first message from yesterday, hope all is well. Give me a call back when you can at (insert your phone number).”

If you still haven’t heard back in 48 hours after the second message, call back and say, “Hey, I’ve left you a couple of messages and have not heard anything back. I’m going to assume what we talked about is not fit for you, so I’m going to go ahead and mark you off my list. I won’t ever bother you again. Take care.”

When you tell someone you’re marking them off your list, they’ll hate that and there’s a good chance they’ll call you back from your third and final voicemail.

How To Talk To Your MLM Leads On The Phone

Take yourself out of the picture, here is what I mean. Most network marketers when talking to people make the conversation all about themselves. People don’t care about helping you hit a new rank, they don’t care if your opportunity is “ground floor”, they don’t care if your product has 100 special ingredients. None of that. All they care about is how can it solve their problems and help them achieve their goals and dreams.

If someone doesn’t have have a need or want then I would suggest not to recruit them. Why try and force something on someone they don’t need.

Imagine you live in California going to buy a car but the salesman is trying to sell you a 4×4 pickup truck so you can drive in the snow. Doesn’t make a lot of sense.

Now if you lived in Utah where is snowed a lot more, a 4×4 pickup truck would make more sense.

Believe it or not, you shouldn’t try and close everyone into your business. Sometimes it’s just not a good fit.

You Shouldn't Try And Close Everyone Into Your BusinessClick To Tweet What’s The First Thing You Should Say

You want to have an ice breaker when you call your leads back. What I’ve found is using their area code and leading with that is a great way to start off the conversation.

So before I dial my leads number, the first thing I do is checked the area code I’m calling.  I’ll then look it up to see what time zone and state they are in. I’ll call them up and say, “Hey, (Insert name). I see you’re calling from the 336 area code. You’re in North Carolina right?”

Ask Better Questions

If you ever get stuck or don’t know what to do next while you’re on the phone with a prospect, ask another question. When you get good at asking questions you’ll get better answers out of your prospects.

Now don’t go into your conversation with your questions blazing out the gate, instead build up a little trust by having some small talk. I my video I share a simple conversation opener that will work everytime that you can use.

How would you feel if you met someone new and they started asking you a ton of questions immediatly? I would probably be a little weirded out.

  1. what’s recently changed that has you open to looking at a side project?
  2. You told me you wanted more time freedom, how serious were you about that?
  3. Do you have a long term plan? If they don’t have a plan show them one!

These are just a handful of questions that you can ask during the conversation. I have a PDF full of network marketing prospeting questions I’ll be realising real soon. Make sure you subscribe here on my blog so you’ll be notified as soon as it’s released.

How To Talk To Your MLM Leads On The Phone - YouTube

It does not matter if they are bought leads or self generated leads (Higher Quality), when talking to prospects the better questions you ask the better answers you’ll get. When someone tells you they want to start a home based business just because they want to make more money, you need to dig a little deeper and find out what exactly they will do with that money.

Remember you are a problem solver. You must ask questions to find out the problems your prospects are having to provide solutions to those problems. Leave the sales breath at home, and focus on being genuily interested in the people you talk to and you’ll find you get much better results in your business.

Do you want to know how you can start making money online?

Here is a beginners guide I put together that will show you exactly how you can use the internet to put more coins in your bank account.

Starting your own home-based business will cost you a lot less than starting a traditional brick and mortar one and you have way less risk. Here are some things you can do to start making money online.  I recommend building a network marketing business, online coaching, creating your own product, and affiliate marketing. I’ve used all of these strategies and made money except for creating my own product, which I have on my road map to do very soon.

How To Start Making Money Online

I get it, you want to use the internet to make money. Work from anywhere in the world with money just showing up in your bank account. I’ll admit, at first I kinda thought like that too but I quickly learned making money online doesn’t work that way.

So how does making money online work? The biggest key to making money online is you putting in the work. No one is going to do it for you, no system or person. It all falls on your shoulders.

There are a lot of different ways to earn money online, I can’t teach them all because I haven’t done them all. But I can and will share with you what has worked for me so far.

Network Marketing

Network marketing is not for everyone. People don’t dislike network marketing, people dislike network marketers. They are the ones who help give this profession a bad name or rather the way they go about promoting their business. But overall you won’t find a better business model out here in my opinion.

The low cost to get started, low risk, a proven system you can plug into. All of that plus the passive income you can make from MLM makes this profession very attractive and you can start this business part-time.

Network marketing is what brought me to the internet a few years ago. I had just joined a business and ran out of people to talk too. I knew about the internet I just didn’t know how to use it to build my business. I eventually found out about attraction marketing, that’s where you have people reaching out to you instead of you chasing them down.

At first, I was like no way, it challenged everything I had been taught up until that point. I thought the only way to build a network marketing business was to go out and talk to people. While that’s still true, you can leverage the internet where you have people wanting to talk to you about your business.

Here are some tips that will help you with building a network marketing business online.

  • Always lead with value, educate people. What problem can you solve?
  • Never mention your company name or product on any of your social media profiles.  No sign-up links either.
  • Always maintain your posture. Operate your business like you are already making six-figures a year. You don’t need any one person to build your business.
  • Work on yourself just as hard as you work on your business. Do something to grow or enhance your skills daily.
  • Invest in coaching, additional training, and courses and attend events to grow your skill set.
Online Coaching

If you would have told me I would have my own coaching business a short while ago I would have thought you were crazy. But here I am, yup my own coaching business.

Here’s what I learned about starting your own coaching business. No matter what your results are you can be a coach.

You don’t need an impressive resume or any of that, all you need is a result or a skill.

Maybe you’re good with videos, you could offer video coaching services. Or maybe you’re good with technology and can set up WordPress blogs. You could offer coaching or your services for any of those things and the list goes on and on.

Take myself as an example, I can’t coach you on how to make a million dollars per year as I haven’t made that yet. But I can coach you on how to generate your first lead and your first sale online, I can show you to make your first $100 dollars or even your first $1000 dollars.

In my top online coaching package, you get some serious hand-holding and unlimited access to me. I help you with everything from your content creation, setting up and optimizing your blog for SEO, to a customized daily routine that fits your lifestyle and schedule.

Like I said no matter where you’re at in your business even if you have gotten the smallest result, you can teach or coach someone to do the same thing.

Even if you haven’t had massive results you can still offer coaching. Even with the smallest results which might not seem big to you but imagine if you help someone generate their first lead or that very first sale.

Online coaching is a great way to make money using the internet. It doesn’t take much to get it set up and going. If you would like some more details on my coaching program feel free to reach out to me and let me know.

Affiliate Marketing

Affiliate marketing by far is the easiest and fastest way to start earning money online. Affiliate marketing is when someone buys a product or service through a web link that is assigned to you, and you earn a percentage of that sale.

The pros of affiliate marketing are, you don’t have to come up with a product, you don’t have to worry about payments, you won’t need to handle any customer service issues, and you don’t have to worry about shipping or providing the product. The company takes care of all of that.

It’s really just as simple as pointing people to a link, they buy and you get paid.

The cons would be all of the opposites I just mentioned above. All of that falls on your shoulders.

Here are some tips to get you started with affiliate marketing.

  • Make sure you at least own the product or have used the service you’re recommending at some point.
  • Make sure it fits your target audience. Don’t try to sell dog food and your blog is all about cats.

You can get started with affiliate marketing without a website. All you need is your cell phone. Start doing reviews of products and services and in the description of your video, you would put a link to where someone could purchase the product you were talking about in your video.

You would need to do some basic keyword research so your video would get found but that’s about it. Keyword research is searching for words or phrases that other people are searching for on the internet. When they type in that question you want your video to show up.

Create Your Own Product

Unlike affiliate marketing when you create your own product you get to keep 100% of the money. There are some things you need to be aware of, you’ll have to first come up with a product, figure out how you’re going to accept payments, handle all of the customer services issues, such as refunds etc.

With creating your own product, you just put all of your knowledge in a particular subject and package it up and boom you have your very own product. You can make a pdf, come up with an online course, heck you can even record an audio course and sell it.

I wouldn’t suggest you go down this path if you’re just getting started. Creating your own product can come later on down the line once you’ve grown a skill set and gotten some results.

Start A Niche Blog

A niche blog is a blog that focuses on a very specific topic or group of people. My blog is all about network marketing. So that means anyone who lands on my blog will immediately know what it’s about. If they are not interested in network marketing they will click off my site.

It won’t cost you an arm and a leg to get your blog up and running. You only need hosting, install the WordPress application, install a theme, and start creating content.

That’s really about all there is to it. There are a few more details you’ll want to consider like how will you capture peoples names and email addresses but you don’t even have to worry about that in the beginning. Just have a good call to action in your content.

You can make money through your niche blog through all the ways I just mentioned in this article, affiliate marketing, coaching, your own products and recruiting people into a network marketing business.

The Next Step To Getting Started

So I’ve talked about the things you can do to make money online, now you’re probably wondering what you should do next.

My suggestion is to pick a path and stick with it.

If you decide to do affiliate marketing to make money online, all you need is a product or service, the video camera on your cellphone and start recording reviews and upload them to youtube or do Facebook lives.

I got started with a marketing system that I still use to this day. It has taught me the fundamentals of online marketing.

You can learn how to generate leads and make sales for any business you want to build and earn a monthly recurring commission from the people you refer over to it. It’s not an MLM just an education platform that anyone can use to build any business online.

How To Start Making Money Online (A Helpful Beginners Guide) - YouTube

The internet is not a get rich thing. You’ll need to pick a strategy and get to work and it won’t happen overnight.

Don’t get caught up with marketers who promise you all this money with doing very little work. I can tell you from experience it takes a ton of work but it’s worth it.

Start with some affiliate marketing first and work your way into other things that I mentioned.

The best piece of advice I can give you is just get started and don’t quit. Making money online works, but only if you work.

Do you currently have a job and wondering if you should do network marketing?

In this training blog post, I’m going to share the questions you need to ask yourself before you decide if you should do it or not.

If you’ve been on the fence if you should do network marketing or not because you have a job, my answer to that would be yes you should do network marketing if you have a job. Network marketing can provide an additional stream of income, so you’re not totally dependant on your job and or you’re looking to start a business with low start-up cost and low risk. Network marketing provides all of that and then some which we will dive into.

What Is Network Marketing And How Does It Work

Network marketing aka MLM is where products are sold directly to people without any type of traditional advertising such as TV or ADS. It’s primarily marketed through word of mouth.

When you join a network marketing company you’re considered a Representative. And every time you make acquire a customer or sign up a new person as a business builder, as a representative you earn a commission.

When you as a representative recruit people, they become part of your team or business. You earn a percentage off of the efforts of your team. So the bigger your team the more you can earn.

I remember the first time I was introduced to network marketing, I thought it was the greatest thing since sliced bread.

What I didn’t realize at the time was the amount of work it was going to take to build a business as they pitch to you during the presentation.

How To Decide If Network Marketing Is Right For You

Network marketing is a great option if you have a full-time job. In fact, most people who do network marketing start part-time.

That’s what I do now. I work a full-time job while building my network marketing business and running this blog.

Here are some things to consider to help you decide if network marketing is right for you, If you answer yes to any of these questions,

  1. You see the benefit of earning a residual income. Residual income is money that comes in whether you show up or not.
  2. You want more time freedom. In my opinion, time is more expensive than any dollar amount. You can always make more money but you can’t make more time.
  3. You don’t like your job. Hey, let’s face it not everyone likes their job. Network marketing has retired a ton of people from corporate America.

For me, the main reason I got involved with network marketing is to have a plan B, I had experienced layoffs from previous jobs I had. I was laid off twice by the same company.

At one point I had been laid off from work for so long, I got a letter in the mail telling me I had exhausted all of my unemployment benefits. And let me tell you that’s a letter you don’t want to get.

Thank goodness at the time I was still living at home with my parents, but still, not knowing where your next paycheck was going to come from was pretty scary. It was a feeling I never wanted to experience again.

I could only imagine how I would have been feeling if I had a family to take care of at the time.

That’s why I think multiple streams of income or so important these days.

Should You Make A Career Out Of It?

If living life on your own terms and having no ceiling to the amount of money you can make interest you at all, making a career out of network marketing is a great idea.

I don’t suggest you immediately go full-time if you already have a job. Learning the skills required to do this business right will take some time.

Instead, use your job to help pay for additional training, tools, coaches, and your auto ship.

Now you might be thinking when is the best time to quit your job. A general rule of thumb I’ve learned is to have at least a years worth of your monthly bills in the bank and six months of steady income coming in from your network marketing company.

You can speed this up if you add in some affiliate marketing but that’s not what this blog post is about. I did a beginners guide to affiliate marketing that you might want to consider checking out.

What To Do If You Want Fast Results

First, don’t wait until your back is up against the wall to start your business.

Next, I would suggest you go out and prospect your butt off. This is called active marketing. Active marketing is the fastest way to make money. This is where you physically reach out to someone and see if they are willing to take a look at your opportunity.

Talk to your friends and family first. Let them know what you are doing and ask for their support. If they say no no big deal.

Most of your friends and family won’t support you and that’s ok. Don’t ever be addicted to any outcome whether you’re prospecting someone you know or someone you don’t know.

You don’t need any one person to build your business. Tell them you’re going to build a big business with our without them but you would love to do it with them.

If they say no, tell them no problem and move on to the next person.

I also suggest while you’re out here doing active marketing, you learn some passive marketing skills too. Passive marketing is where you put out a piece of content and you hope someone responds to it and reaches out to you. Passive marketing takes time to build up.

How Much Time Should You Invest

You can start off very part-time with just a few hours per day working on your business. If you have a job now you’re in a great position to open up an additional stream of income to your bank account.

Don’t wait until your back is up against the wall from a job layoff or a major repair comes up to start your business.

What happens here is you’ll usually come off as desperate because you need to make money fast. People will pick up on that.

Imagine if you were interviewing for a job and you didn’t have a job, you would be nervous and anxious because you need that job.

Now imagine if you already had a job but you went and interviewed for a job, you would be more relaxed because you’re not as desperate for that job.

Apply this to building a network marketing business, while yea everyone would love to just sign up everyone we meet and they go and sign up people, but unfortunately, it doesn’t happen that fast.

Should You Do Network Marketing If You Have A Job - YouTube

Network marketing is a great business to start off building part-time, just about everyone does. It has a low cost of entry and low risk to go with it. If you already have a job use that to help start your new business.

Get out there and do some active marketing and prospect your butt off if you want those fast results. Don’t’ forget to learn some passive marketing strategies while you’re at it. That way you can make active marketing optional once you have leads flowing in.

If you’re looking to get rich quick, don’t like talking to people or you’re not coachable, then I suggest you DONT do network marketing.

If you like the idea of residual income, time freedom and maybe being your own business, I highly suggest you give network marketing a hard look.

Are you wondering what would be the best age to start a network marketing business?

In this post, I’m going to share in my opinion the best age to get started.

Building a network marketing business will require you to sign a contract to become a distributor for whatever company you decide to join but the best age to start a network marketing business is your age at this very moment. I also did a bit of research and what I found is that usually, you must be at least 18 years of age to join an MLM business. It can vary depending on what country and state you leave in. So make sure you check your local laws just to be sure.

Your Age Doesn’t Matter

Your age does not mean a thing when it comes to building a business. Your never too old to build up some passive income for yourself or your family. It’s all about your work ethic and mindset.

I’ve seen young and older people get involved in this profession.

So if you think you’re too young or old to get started, get that nonsense out of your head right now.

Here is a list of people you might recognize who got started a little later in life:

  • Martha Stewart – Was almost fifty years old before you got her magazine deal.
  • Ray Kroc (McDonald’s”) – Was 52 when ran into the MacDonalds brothers eventually buying them out and starting McDonald’s.
  • Colonel Sanders (KFC) – Was 62 years old before he hit success.

This is just a short list of examples. There are people everyday from all ages having success in business. Don’t ever let your age hold you back from getting started.

Does Your Background Matter?

Nope, you can get started with network marketing if you’ve been fired from a job, have bad credit, or if you’ve never had a job at all.

Network marketing does not care about your race, religion, or sex. You don’t need any type of degree or schooling either.

Everyone starts off on the same playing field, with access to the same tools and information.

Really all you need is your vision, a few bucks, and a hell of a work ethic.

Oh, you thought it was going to be easy?

While the business model of network marketing is simple it is going to take a lot of consent work to build a business.

If someone tries to tell you differently I personally would suggest you find yourself a new sponsor or another company to join all together.

How Much Does It Cost To Get Started

Network marketing is the perfect business model with its low cost and low risk you really can’t find a better business to start.

The cost to get started is different for each company. It can range anywhere from a couple of hundred bucks into the thousands depending on your start-up package.

When I joined my first company I think I paid $299 to get started. Then I had to get my products on auto-ship to stay qualified to earn money.

I’ve seen some people get hung up on their auto-ship. Which to me is insane. Think of your auto-ship as an expense to run your business.

If you ran a Subway you would have to pay building rent, employees, insurance, and a few other things.

And as you can imagine that won’t be cheap.

So what your auto-ship is a couple of bucks per month. Where else can you go and have operating expenses that low?

So just for a few bucks you can be a business owner and depending on how hard you work you can make your money back pretty fast.

Now let’s say you want to start a franchise such as a Subway or some type of national chain restaurant. You’ll have to come up with hundreds of thousands of dollars and at least 10 years is when you can expect to make your money back.

So let’s compare, a few hundred bucks and you can make your money back the same day or week with unlimited income potential vs a traditional franchise that’ll cost you hundreds of thousands of dollars upfront and at least 10 years before you’ll see any of your money back.

Low Cost Sometimes Hurts This Profession

Like I just mentioned it only cost a few hundred dollars to get started on a network marketing business. So sometimes people don’t take their business as serious because they only paid a few hundred dollars vs spending hundreds of thousands of dollars on a traditional brick and mortar business.

Put the time into your business and treat it like a real business and it will pay you like a real business.

Half ass with it, and it will pay you like a hobby which last time I checked, hobbies usually cost you money.

What If You Are A Student?

Students usually fall within the ages of 18-25. These are young people with goals and dreams. Network marketing is the perfect business to help them achieve those dreams.

Let me be upfront here, I’m not any type of expert of recruiting college students so I had to dig around and here are some of the best tips that I’ve found to recruit students into your business.

Prospecting students is no different than prospecting anyone else. In fact, what I’ve heard a lot of people say is college kids are more open to at least hearing about an opportunity that could change their lives.

Most people want the freedom and lifestyle building a successful network marketing business offers. College students do too!

If you’re thinking like me, you’re probably saying, wouldn’t a college kid be broke or on a very limited budget?

Well if someone was serious about joining your business they would find a way to come up with the money. College students will too IF they are serious about doing the business. If not they’ll just make excuses like any other person.

Network Marketing Tips For Beginners

Here are some guidelines to help you if you do decide network marketing is right for you.

Say less to more people. Don’t give out too much information when you’re prospecting. You should collect their information and follow up with them at a later date. Your main goal with prospecting is just finding out who is open, that’s it.

Always maintain your posture. You’re going to have people question you about what you’re doing. It even might be someone in your family or one of your closest friends. Posture is simply you having the belief in something without requiring someone eles’ approval. You

Operate your business like you’re already making a million dollars. Don’t chase, beg or try to convince ANYONE to buy from you or join you. When you’re prospecting think of it as you are interviewing them. You want to make sure their dreams qualify for your time.

Get good at asking questions. If a person tells you they are open to take a look at your business, ask them why. Find out why they are looking to make some extra money. If someone tells you they just want to make more money, dig deeper becaue just wanting more money is not a strong reason.

If you use these tips your MLM success rate can’t go anywhere but up!

What Is The Best Age To Start A Network Marketing Business - YouTube

The legal age in most places is 18 years of age. But like I mentioned in the beginning make sure you check with your local laws in your state just to be on the safe side.

Outside of that network marketing provides a great opportunity for someone to achieve time freedom and financial independence. If you are willing to put in the work.

Network marketing does NOT care about your background, how many jobs you’ve been fired form, your credit history, color, religion or sex. All that’s required is patience, a coachable attitude, and a good work ethic.

If you have all of these then I highly suggest you get started with your own network marketing business.

Want to get your blog post ranking higher on Google?

Here in this post, I share a sneaky WordPress trick that you can start using today that will help you get better rankings.

If you’re trying to get your post to rank higher on Google, leave all the shady tactics behind. The un-natural backlinking, the keyword stuffing. All of that crap has been fixed by Google via updates. If you want to get to the top of a google search you must now write, long detailed blog post, 1200 or more words. The days of writing short pieces of content are pretty much over. Google wants to give the end user a good experience, and long content does just that.

How To Improve Your Google Rankings

Stop looking for the shortcuts trying to game Google. There aren’t many SEO tricks that are left out here. And if you do find one, it won’t last. Back in the day, shady stuff like keyword stuffing, weird backlinking stuff. All of those things worked but then website owners got hit with Google updates and bam, just like that all of their traffic went away literally overnight.

If you want your blog to produce income for you now and well into the future, the key is just having better content.

Good content will work now and well into the future.

Get That Organic Traffic

Organic traffic is where someone types in a search query and lands on your site, without you having to spend a dime. Paid ads are just the opposite. You pay to have your website show up. But when you stop paying they stop showing your stuff.

Not with organic traffic, that stuff comes in month after month for years, for free.

So with that short explanation, you can see why organic traffic is the way to go.

How Long Does It Take To Rank Your Content

The only downside to organic traffic is that it takes time, I’m talking several months before you see any organic traffic to your post. A brand new website can take almost  35 weeks to where articles are bringing in most of its traffic.

This doesn’t mean it takes 35 weeks to rank number 1, just that’s how long it takes to get to its true ranking position.

The most effective way to increase your organic traffic is to keep putting out good content.

Don’t get hung up how long it takes to rank your content. Think of your blog as a garden and your blog post are little seeds that every time you hit publish you’re planting that seed in your garden.

Now with a garden, if you planted corn will you be able to harvest it in two weeks? Nope, the same goes for your blog post. Just keep going and eventually, it will pay off.

Some WordPress Seo Tips

Here are some core WordPress SEO tips you should consider doing on your site.

  • Make sure your site has an SSL cert. While this is not a critical step, it does help. Most hosting companies offer free ones with their plans. If your’s does not, consider switching to a host that does. I host my site on wpengine. It’s not the cheapest solution around but their customer support is great.
  • Make sure your site speed is good. The biggest thing that will cause your site to slow down is plugins. I generally like to keep min around 20 or less if possible.
  • Fix your permalinks. By default, WordPress will structure your post like this Https://Derecocherry.com/2019/02/12/sample-post. This is bad for SEO.Go into your permalink settings and change it to the post name settings. Your post will now look like https://Derecocherry.com/sample-post.
  • Don’t use crappy hosting either. Cheaper is not always better. This boils down to you get what you pay for. Quality hosting does make a difference.
Do Keyword Word Research

Make sure you do your keyword research when you writing your post.

Before I would use tools like keywords anywhere to gather up my keywords, now I take a different approach. If the question or topic sounds reasonable I’ll go ahead and write the content.

If the topic is just to far off like, “How to do network marketing while skydiving,” you shouldn’t write it. As you can tell nobody would be searching that topic.

But they would search “How to make extra income while working full time.”

Why You Need To Write Longer Content

Things have changed a lot when it comes to getting your content to rank. I’ve learned that Google wants longer content. The reason for this is for better user experience. Take this post, for example, I could answer the title of this blog post in just a few short sentences.

But for better user experience I go expand on the answer giving you more detail on why it matters and as you’ll see in the next section, I give you some tips on how you can write longer more detailed post.

Some Tips To Help You Write Better Post

Make sure you post is answering a question or solving a problem of your target audience.

If you’re having trouble expanding on your topic, just think what would be a question you would ask yourself.

Also, when you google search your term, scroll all the way to the bottom of that page. Those related searches are great topics you can include in your article.

I like to write an outline of my blog post first.

I make an opening statement and then I write out the first paragraph.

In that first paragraph, you should give the readers the answer to the question or the problem that you mentioned in the title. Doing this alone usually gets me anywhere from 2-300 words to start.

Next, I write out all my subheadings. Usually 3-4.

Once that’s done, I just go in and expand on each of those headings. It’s like writing mini-blog post for each sub-heading. If I sit down and concentrate I can have an article written up in about an hour and a half. Sometimes faster.

How To Improve Your Google Rankings: A Sneaky WordPress Trick - YouTube

You don’t need any fancy tools or do anything weird to get your stuff to rank higher, just write good helpful content and you’ll be fine.

The days of doing shady stuff to rank your stuff fast with Google is long gone and never coming back.

Don’t try and cheat the system, put in the work by making good, helpful, long content and you won’t have to worry about getting hit by some Google update

Writing longer blog post, 1200 words or more is the best way to increase your SEO rankings for free.

Don’t know which strategy you should use for generating leads for your business?

In this training, I’m going to help you figure out the best online strategy to use to grow your network marketing business online.

There isn’t a one size fits all answer so here are some of my suggestions for generating prospects for your business. Facebook lives, YouTube Videos, Blogging, Instagram Stories, and Twitter are all great places to find prospects for your home based business. Keep in mind there are many other ways to do generate leads, but the list I just mentioned is a great place to start. If you are just getting started, I suggest you just pick one and master it before you decide to add anything else. Let’s dive into the pro’s and cons of each strategy, so keep reading.

What Online Strategy Should You Use To Find Prospects?

Do the one you will stay consistent with for the long-term.

If you hate writing, don’t blog. If you cringe at the thought of getting on camera, don’t do videos. If you are not a social butterfly, I wouldn’t start with marketing on social media.

But keep this in mind, at some point doing the things you hate will need to happen.

Your success is just on the other side of the very thing that you fear.

I was scared as hell when I recorded my first video; I kept putting it off. I kept telling myself; I needed this or I need that. All I was doing was delaying my success.

How To Prevent From Feeling Overwhelmed

The best way to prevent feeling overwhelmed is to only focus on one strategy at a time.

It can be tempting to do videos and blog post and Instagram and everything else under the sun. But here is what usually happens.

You end up spreading yourself too thin and not getting any results. Imagine if you were to focus 100% of your efforts on just video marketing? You would get to the results a lot faster.

Add in additional strategies as you start to get results with one.

Now let’s jump into some those strategies and some tips so you can get those results in your business.

Do Facebook Lives

In a previous training I did, I said to get your first customer in your home based business you should go talk to your friends and family. But let’s say you don’t want to do that, well I would suggest doing Facebook lives.

Back in the day, if you wanted to get a lot of people to check out your business at one time, you would have to put on a live event or book a hotel meeting room.

If you were just getting started this would be next to impossible to pull off.

Now with technology and social media, you can get in front of hundreds if not thousands of people at any giving time, even if you’re brand new.

How To Get The Best Results From Your Facebook Lives

Most marketers get on Facebook lives trying to sell something.

Instead of pushing your product or service, educate your audience.

Let’s say you are in a health and wellness company; you could do a live on some weight loss tips.

If you were in a travel mlm, you could give out some tips on the best time to book your flights or how to get the best rates when booking a hotel.

If you want to push your product, I’d suggest talking about the problem your product solves without mentioning the name and use this simple four-step process for all of your lives.

  • Intro
  • Question
  • Answer the question you just asked (the content)
  • CTA (Call To Action)
Keep This In Mind

Facebook lives are a great short term strategy; it’s not for the long-term.

Anytime somebody puts a question into Google and searches, your Facebook lives more than likely won’t show up.

Facebook content is not optimized for searching like a blog post or YouTube videos.

What I suggest is to download your lives, edit them and re-upload them to youtube and embed them on your blog.

That will allow you to drive traffic from three different places.

YouTube Videos

You can go live on YouTube, but most people usually records a video, edit it up and upload it to the site.

I suggest using the same four-step strategy I mentioned for Facebook lives for youtube as well.

I use that exact strategy for every video that I record.

Also, when you are recording a video, act like you are talking to just one person. It makes your viewers feel like you are speaking directly to them.

Just speak like you’re having a normal conversation with someone.

Great Long Term Strategy

YouTube is owned by Google which means it’s built on a searchable platform. Google wants to show you the videos that answer the questions you are searching.

I’ve got videos up on youtube that I did years ago that still get me leads and sales.

Blogging is my favorite strategy to generate leads online. Its very leverage just like recording youtube videos. Once you hit the publish button your blog post will stay out there forever.

Video is the most effective form of content you can create, but blogging is a close second.

My suggestion for blogging is just like with my video suggestion, use your blog to teach your target audience. Solve problems and answer questions with your blog post.

Have a self-hosted WordPress site.

You’ll want to get hosting. I use a service called wpengine. It does cost a bit more than some hosting other hosting companies, but wpengine only works with WordPress. You also get access to some awesome premium themes.

WordPress.com and sites like blogger.com are NOT self-hosted sites.

Once you get your WordPress and your theme installed, you’ll want to start creating content as fast as possible.

Don’t get hung up on how it looks or worry too much trying to make it all pretty. You can always change things around once your blog starts generating you some leads and income.

The Downside To Blogging

The biggest downside to blogging is the amount of time to start seeing some results.

You can’ blog for one week and expect to see results. Just like you can go to the gym and expect to get an six-pack in one week either.

Blogging is a long term strategy. But it’s the best long term strategy in my opinion.

Twitter has been a great source of traffic, leads, and sales for me. Here are some tips strategies that you can implement in your business.

  • Stay away from posting your company replicated website. Everyone in your company is posting the same thing. What makes yours any different?
  • Telling or asking people to join your team with your sign-up link.
  • Posting things like “ground floor opportunity”

All these things simply do not work.

Here are some things that do work.

  • Posting answers to questions.
  • Helpful blog post that educates people.
  • Tweet out inspiration quotes

Since Twitter moves so fast, you need to stay in front of your audience as much as possible. The best way I’ve found to do it is with a service call social jukebox. What it does is precisely what the name implies. So every time I publish a new blog post, I put it in my social juke box. It rotates publishing it on a schedule inside twitter.

Here is a free trial you might want to consider checking out if you decide to integrate Twitter at some point into your overall marketing plan.

Twitter is a fast-paced social media site. Your followers are just like the ones you have on Facebook, meaning they are real people. Treat them like you would if you were to meet them in person.

If someone likes or retweets my content, I’ll always send that person a direct message.

Lead with value and not spam just like you would any other site for the best results.

The biggest drawback to Twitter is like any other social media platform I’ve just mentioned in this post, you don’t own it. Which means you can be shutdown at anytime.

[Video] How To Find Prospects Online

What Online Strategy Should You Use To Find Prospects - YouTube

All of the strategies I just mentioned are great ways to generate leads for your business online.

Remember with social media you don’t own any of your content or your profiles. They can be shut down at any time. That’s not the case with a self-hosted WordPress blog. That’s yours, and you own it.

No matter which strategy you prefer always lead with education first. Create your content around solving problems and answering questions, have a CTA (call to action) at the end of all of your content and have the people reach out to you.

Follow those tips, and you’ll be well on your way to generating more leads than you can handle for your business.

Want to know how you can get your first sign-up in your network marketing business?

Here in this post, I’ll share some tips on how you can do it.

Thankfully at the time, I didn’t do any of the shady stuff that network marketers tend to do. I simple, told my immediate family what I was doing. I didn’t say anything fancy either. That’s right to get your first sign-up you should tell your friends and family about your new business. Once you’ve told your friends and family, you’ll need to learn how to tap into your cold market.

How To Reach Out To Family And Friends

The first thing I’d suggest is don’t be so hung up if your family or friends join or not. Just like any other prospect you don’t want to pitch them instead, see if you can build some curiosity or see if they are open.

Here is how I handled reaching out to people I knew, I would say, “Hey, I just got involved in the awesome business, I’d appreciate it if you would take a look and let me know your thoughts.”

If they said no, I would say, “ok no problem at all.”

I never did any convincing, chasing or begging of people to check out my business. I would ask to see if they would take a look, if not ok on to the next.

If they said yes, I would get them on a presentation and let them check it out.

Tip: Always use a tool to expose people to your business.

I did have people circle back around at a later date and asked about the business I was doing. So don’t count people all the way out. It could be the wrong timing in their life. Things change all the time.

So if someone tells you no, don’t burn that bridge by getting upset or bugging the crap of them. That will turn them off altogether.

Bugging and chasing people are part of the reason network marketing has such a bad reputation with people. Don’t be that person.

You could have the best business in the world, and most people still won’t join you.

Network marketing is a numbers game.

What If You’ve Pitched Your Warm Market Already

I’ve learned to NOT lead with the business but instead lead with the product.

You could say something along the lines of, “Hey, I know this business won’t be a fit for you, but I think you might like the product.”

This line works great if you’ve hit your warm market with a bunch of spammy stuff in the past. It’s a different approach they won’t be expecting from you.

If they agree to take a look, again use a tool to show the product. They’ll also get exposed to your business which could pique their interest in doing it.

Cold Market Prospecting Tips

At some point, you will get to the end of your friends and family list. From here you’ll need to learn how to tap into your cold market.

Here are a few quick tips for you.

  • Change your mindset. You need to start thinking like you are doing the interview. You’re interviewing your prospects to see if their dreams are worth your time.
  • Use A Tool to do the explaining. This creates duplication because anyone can play a DVD, not everyone wants to give a fancy presentation or pitch.
  • Fill up your pipeline. It will take several exposures for someone to join your business. So talk to as many people as possible.
  • Get organized. Use a CRM to keep track of your prospects and the conversations you have with them.
  • Say less to more people. You just want to see if they are open. If they are, see my second tip above.
Where Are The Best Places To Prospect

If you are doing it offline, the best place to prospect is while you’re out living life.

At the grocery store, the gym a social function.

Your main job with prospecting is seeing if they are open, NOT pitch them.

Be cool, if they ask you what is it just tell them you’ll follow up with them later and share all the details.

If you’re prospecting online, Facebook is a great place to connect with people. Any social media platform would work.

Don’t be a rookie network marketer and spam all your contacts and don’t send unsolicited messages.

Think numbers. If someone says no, don’t hang around, say ok cool and thank them for their time and get out of there. Move on to the next person.

How You Can Generate Leads For Free

You don’t need any money to get started with generating leads. All you need is the cell phone in your pocket and the right mindset.

The first thing you need to do is figure out your target audience. Who would best benefit your product or service?

And make sure you’re immersed in your niche.

If your blog is about skateboarding, it’ll be tough coming up with content if you don’t own a skateboard or never go skateboarding.

For me, I have a network marketing blog, so it only makes sense that I will be building a network marketing business.

I share things that I am learning on my journey. I read books, attend webinars and I buy courses and products.

I have an audible subscription that cost me a few bucks a month. I listen to audio books while I’m at the gym or driving in my car.

I make blog post and videos from the training I attend and the books and courses that I purchase. Also, I get content from the questions my leads and coaching clients ask me.

Going live on Facebook or Instagram would be the fastest way to get leads for your business. It’s not a good long term strategy though.

That’s where blogging is king in my opinion.

Blogs stay out there forever and work for you 24/7. Facebook lives disappear into the internet after a few days, sometimes a few hours.

And social media content is not searchable.

That means someone can google search a question and your Facebook live comes back, but your blog post or video that you’ve uploaded to YouTube can.

How To Almost Guarantee Nobody Joins Your Business

Just use all types of hype in your message. Say things like,

  • Company has no competition.
  • Company has zero debt.
  • Ground floor opportunity.
  • Easy and fast money.
  • No talking to people

Just use any of the above languages in your marketing message and see how many people recruit using that strategy.

And in the event that you do recruit someone using this message, they’ll probably quit as soon as they realize what you told them is not true.

Be upfront with people, let them know network marketing is going to take a lot of hard work and time. Set realistic expectations.

How To Convince Someone To Join

You don’t ever want to convince someone to join your business. I never do.

It takes way to much energy trying to change someone’s mind instead you want to look for people who interested or open.

Usually what happens, when someone tells you no the amateur network marketer goes into convincing mode by saying things like,

When someone tells a professional network marketer no, they simply say thanks for your time and keep it moving.

You want it to make it their idea to join you.

Asking questions and becoming a problem solver is how you do it.

For example, when someone tells me what they do for a living, I’ll say something along the lines of “oh you must love doing that?”

Sometimes they’ll say yes they love what they do or sometime they’ll say they hate it.

When someone says they hate it, that’s how you can transition to your business and see if they are at least open.

Here’s how the conversation could go,

Whether it’s getting your first rep signed up into your business or making you first lead online both of them are going to be the most significant milestones in your business.

If you just joined your first network marketing company, hit up your family and friends and at least let them know what you’re doing.

If they so no to joining your business maybe they could support you buying a product.

It never hurts to ask, and if you don’t ask the answer will always be no.

Family and friends are not a good long term approach, but learning attraction marketing would be.

Have you ever asked yourself, why do people hate network marketing?

In this post, you’ll learn the main reason network marketing gets a bad name and what you can do to help change it.

Network marketing reps behavior is what gives MLM a bad name (mostly). Chasing and trying to convince people why they should join your deal or talking about why jobs suck all bring the profession down. Throw social media in there, with reps spamming their walls with “join my team” post and other shady non-marketing tactics and I can see why people get a bad taste about network marketing. There are have/been some shady MLM companies out there just like any other businesses. But they are all not pyramid schemes or scams. There are a ton of legit network marketing business that has been around for years, have you ever heard of Amyway or Mary Kay?

Why Network Marketing Is The Perfect Business Model

I don’t know of any other business that has such a low start-up cost. Not to mention low risk as well. You don’t have to worry about coming up with a product to sell or providing support.

You don’t have to worry about doing customer service or anything. That’s all handled by the company.  All you have to focus on is showing people the business plan.

You don’t have to pay employees or anything like that. Basically, you don’t have to worry about any of the hard stuff when it comes to opening and running a business.

With network marketing, you can get started with a couple of hundred bucks in most cases and you can make your money back the same day if you hustle hard enough.

Try opening a traditional business and see if you can get your investment back in one day. With most restaurant franchises it can take years before you make your investment back.

Not to mention the large sums of money that’s required to get started.

Who Should Do Network Marketing?

I think network marketing is good for anyone who would like to start a business but does not have a ton of money to do it. It’s also good for existing small business owners as it can open up an additional stream of income.

People in sales usually do well in Network Marketing. Most people in sales already have thick skin and know what it takes to do well in sales. So if you know a someone in sales, make sure you prospect them.

Anyone who wants to bounce from their job. If you ever want to leave your job then you’ll need to replace that income. With network marketing, you can start part-time as most people do.

These are just a few suggestions on who I think should do MLM but it’s really the perfect business model for just about anybody, regardless of their profession, race, religion or background.

Who Shouldn’t Do Network Marketing?

People looking for a lottery ticket. Network marketing is not a get rich quick thing. And if someone tells you that, I highly suggest you go the other way. Think of it as a get rich slow, as in you are going to need to put in the work.

Non-coachable people.  The worst thing you can say is “I know that already.” Nothing is worse than being around a so-called “no it all.” Here’s a reality check, you don’t know it all, nobody knows it all. You’re results or lack thereof will tell you how much you know.

Take me, for example, I got introduced to network marketing back in late 2008 and I’m still learning stuff today. I’ll always be a student.

People who get offended easily. Listen, if you’re not ready to be made fun of or called crazy, you might want to want to go do something else. If you care more about what someone else thinks, this business is not for you. I’m just keeping it real.

You’ll probably have family and friends question what you’re doing or even criticize you for doing it. But one thing I’ve learned is the people who criticize the most are the ones worse off than you.

Will MLM Destroy Your Family?

Let’s keep this short and sweet, NO MLM will not destroy your family.

When you hear about MLM destroying families it usually boils down to the spouse doing something behind the others one’s back like spending large amounts of money without telling the other person.

Or maybe the auto-ship is coming out that joint checking account every month but you’re not doing anything to move your business forward.

I know how I would feel if I were married and my wife signed up but was not working the business. I’d feel like we were throwing money away.

Sometimes when you’re running hard to build your business you might have to miss a few social functions to get things going. Will it be like that forever? Nope but you might need to make some sacrifices along the way.

The best thing to do is be upfront with your family and let them know exactly what you are doing.

If they’re still skeptical the best way to get them to see things you’re way is to start earning some money. Bring home a check.

Bottom line, be upfront with your family, let them know what you’re doing and the reasons your doing it and won’t have to worry about this business destroying your family.

Can Your Life Get Ruined By MLM?

No MLM won’t ruin your life. Like I mentioned earlier what gives MLM a bad name is the behavior of network marketing reps.

If your going to do network marketing decide to become a professional is what the legend Eric Worre says. In fact, he wrote a book titled Go Pro 7 Steps To Becoming A Network Marketing Professional. You can check it out over on Amazon. It’s the perfect book for any and everybody who wants to become a pro in this business.

If you carry yourself like professional, people will respect you like one and you won’t have to worry about burning bridges or ruining your life.

When you do shady stuff like invite family and friends over for “get together” and it’s really a ploy to do a sales pitch on them. People don’t like that. If you choose to continue to do those type of things, then yea you run a risk of losing some friends.

So my best advice would be become a professional. Start by grabbing the book I mentioned above and learn the skills needed to build your business the right way.

How You Can Help Change The Image Of Network Marketing

Learn some prospecting skills, and for goodness sake don’t lie to people and tell them to come to your house or a location for one thing and it’s really your business presentation.

That’s not the best way to get someone exposed to your business.

Instead, be upfront better yet ask some questions and see if there is a problem that your business, product or service could solve. Make it a point to become a problem solver.

People don’t like to be sold but they will buy a solution to a problem they are having.

Don’t chase people. There’s a difference between prospecting and chasing. Prospecting your job is to see if they are open, that’s it. If they aren’t, move on to the next person and don’t look back.

Always maintain your posture. Posture is knowing what you have without the approval of someone else telling you.

Don’t put down someone if they decide not to get involved in your business.

Don’t have your company name on any of your social media profiles.

Don’t send unsolicited links on social media.

Don’t spam your friends on social media.

Why Do People Hate Network Marketing: What You Need To Do To Fix It - YouTube

Network marketing gets its bad name mostly from the behavior of the reps trying to build their business.

I don’t know of any other business that you can do for such low risk. A few hundred bucks to get started and pretty much unlimted income.

No products to develop, no customer service support, no employees to worry about.

You will however need to learn some skills. Network marketing is simple but not easy.

If you decide to get involved in network marketing, invest into yourself and learn the skills to build your business like a professional. If you don’t do anything but pickup a book and implement what you learn, it’ll do wonders for your business.

Run out of people to talk to about your network marketing business?

Here is a training that will teach you how to tap into an unlimited amount of people using cold marketing prospecting techniques.

The best way to do cold market prospecting when you’re brand new is to talk to people. That’s it. There’s no special skill required. The best time to prospect is while you’re out and about. If you meet a sharp person, just ask them questions and they will tell you exactly what you need to know to get them into your business. Whatever problem they have YOU have the solution to it. Don’t talk about your business but instead say something along the lines of, “If I can show you a way to (Insert A Solution To Their Problem) would you be open to take a look?” If they say yes, collect their information and follow up.

What Is Cold Market Prospecting?

There are two types of markets. You have your warm market, which are people that you know and they know you. Then you have your cold market. These are the people who have no clue of who you are and you don’t know them.

Cold market prospecting is where you reach out and start up a conversation with a complete stranger. It can be scary at first just like anything else you do for the first time but the more you do it the easier it will become.

In the beginning, I knew nothing about prospecting, hell I don’t even think I had heard of the word at that time. But I knew if I wanted to grow my business I had to figure out a way to get it in front of people I didn’t know.

I always find it strange when I talk to a lead or someone already in network marketing and they say they are having trouble finding people to talk to about their business. A cold market pretty much means an endless supply of people to talk too.

Maybe you don’t realize it but you’re probably already doing some cold market prospecting to a degree. You’re having the conversations but you’re either too scared to ask for their contact information or you’re not asking the right questions to get the information you need.

Example Of Me Talking To My Cold Market

I recently moved my gym membership to a location closer to where I live. I was on the treadmill doing some cardio. Someone got on the treadmill next to me. We started talking about the game that was on the TV. He ended asking me was I from the area and what I did for a living and I found out what he did.

I then asked him how long he had been in his profession, he told me it was over 20 years.

I said, “Wow you must really love doing that.”

His response was, “Not really, I don’t have much time to spend with my family.”

I never said anything about my business, I simply said, “If I can show you a way so you could spend more time with your family, would you be open to take a look?”

Of course he said he would be open. I grabbed his contact information.

I didn’t say anything fancy, no script I was just being me.

Now every situation won’t work out that perfect.

When you make the switch to becoming a problem solver, prospecting will be so much easier.

Tips On Using Facebook For Prospecting

Here is my biggest issue with prospecting offline, you can only talk to so many people in a day. With social media, I can have way more conversations going on at one time. Not to mention, its way easier to strike up a conversation with someone.

Just cruise on over to someone’s Facebook profile, take a quick peek of their interest and boom, you have enough to start up a conversation. Doesn’t get much easier than that.

Ray Higdon has a great book out on called Freakishly Effective Social Media For Network Marketing that’s really good. I’ve learned a ton about social media through this book. Check it out if you’re interested.

Do This To Improve Your Cold Marketing Techniques

If you really want to get good at talking…you ready for this? Go out and talk to people. Yep, the only way you’re going to get good at this is to actually do it. You don’t need another book or course or training.

You already know how to talk to people. Don’t over think or complicate it.

Take some action and DO IT.

Should You Use A Script?

Scripts are ok to use as guidelines. A way to make sure you stay on track with your conversation. However, don’t sit there and memorize the entire thing where you end up sounding like a robot or something.

If you do, people will pick up on that and think you’re weird. I know that’s how I would feel if someone did that to me.

Think about it, have you ever got a call from a telemarketer or someone and they sounded like they were reading from a sheet of paper. You probably picked up on it fast.

The goal would be to get so good at prospecting that you wouldn’t need any type of script.  But that will take some practice.

How To Follow Up With Your Prospect

Prospecting is a numbers game. You’re going to have way more people tell you no before you get to that person who tells yes.

The money is almost always in the follow-up. A good CRM comes in handy with helping you keep up with your conversations.

You’ll have very few people buy from you or join your business on the first exposure. But let’s say you’ve prospected someone, called them up and they checked out a presentation. You’ve tried to follow up but they do not answer your calls or returning your emails.

You could say something like:

“Hey just reaching out to see how you were doing.”

If they still don’t say anything I’ll leave another message or email and tell them something along the lines of:

“Hey, I see this is not a fit for you, but do you know anyone who would like to make some extra money if we should them step by step how they could do it?”

My last message will usually be something along the lines of:

“Hey, I hope everything is well, I’m going to assume this is not a fit for you, no worries, I’m going to go ahead and mark you off my list.”

That last message is usually what gets them to call you back. People hate being told they are getting marked off a list. Expect a lot of callbacks when you use that line.

Some Additional Follow Up Tips

Don’t be addicted to the outcome. You staying in control of the conversation can be all the difference in someone signing up with you or not.

Don’t be needy. You don’t need any one person to build your business. So act like it. If you were already making a million dollars per year would you beg anyone to join your business? Nope, not a chance. You need to have that same mindset from day one.

After someone watches your company presentation, your first question should be, “What did you like best with what you just watched?” Never asked them “What did you think?”

You want them to tell you all the good things they liked about the video.

Keep your posture. Posture is simple you knowing what you have regardless of what anyone else thinks or says. You know for a fact you have a great product and a great business don’t let anyone tell you otherwise. Let that energy and mindset help you guide your conversation.

Always be in a hurry. People like to be around busy people. Here is another tip I learned from Ray Higdon, its called “BIC” or break in communication.

Here’s how it works, you simply say “Hey, I have to run and pick up the kids, but you seem like a sharp person, would you be open to a side project if it didn’t interfere with what you’re currently doing?”

What this does is prevents you from saying too much. If your prospect keeps asking what is it, you simply say you don’t have time to explain it right now you have to run but that you will give them all the details on your follow up call.

Always compliment the person. The easiest way to start up a conversation is to lead with a compliment. Make sure its a genuine one. Don’t tell someone you like their shoes and they have on some old busted grass cutters.

Don’t explain the business. Never pitched someone on the spot. Instead get them on a company tool and let that do all the heavy lifting and explaining. Your prospect will make a judgment on how they were exposed to the business. Anyone can send a link or hand someone a DVD. Not everyone can or wants to get up and give presentations.

Don’t be afraid to ask for the sale. After they watched a presentation and you are getting a good vibe from them (you’ll know it) simply say, “Sounds to me like you’re ready to get started?” and then shut up. Don’t say another word. You wait for your prospect to answer.

Cold Marketing Prospecting: How To Do It When You're Brand New - YouTube

Approaching people about your network marketing business is not that difficult at all. Most people over complicate the process thinking they need some fancy script or a magic set of words. You don’t need any of that. Just be you, and make a new friend.

You never know where the conversation might lead you. If they are not interested cool, maybe they know someone who would be. The main goal with prospecting is seeing if the person is at least open to take a look at what you have and if not no big deal.

If you just meet 1-2 new people a day in person or on social media that can be an additional 60 people per month to talk to about your business.

Stay consistent and also TAKE ACTION!
