Hello friends… I’ve gone MIA on you all again, and I’m so sorry. I have yet to find a balance between work and blogging. If someone has any answers, please leave them in the comments. Now the reason I’m here… When I started blogging, the one thing I wanted was to work with New York and Company, and thus the reason I’m here today sharing my beautiful dress with you all.
You know, while browsing your favorite sites, and run across an outfit that leaves you speechless, well that was me with this dress. The colors were bright and vibrant and I knew it was for me, and it was a maxi dress. The different prints in this dress is really what WON my heart. Isn’t she a beauty. So, as I always do every morning, go through emails, and to my surprise I had received an email about working with my favorite store of all time New York and Company. I hope you can hear the excitement in my voice, because I was so happy.
When I received the dress, it was like Christmas and I was five years old, too excited about opening it. All types of styling options came into my head, because let’s face it, you could pair this dress with so many colors and look good. New York and Company never disappoints when it comes to dresses, always so feminine. If you’ve never bought anything from them, trust me you’re missing out. This style of dress is flattering for any body type. You can tighten the belt to really show off that define waist. For me that was an added bonus, because I’ve put on a few extra pounds. So why not, play on your best features, and make it work!
As always thank you for stopping by, I appreciate everyone’s support. I want to also thank New York and Company for sponsoring this post, and look forward to a long lasting relationship with them.
Ok… friends I must confess that I have a problem. Know it’s not what you’re thinking, I’m addicted to shopping at SHEIN. This brand has won my heart in so many ways, and I can’t get enough. Seeing that this girl is always looking for a bargain, I finally found where I belong (hehe) and you will too once you order from them. Today I will be sharing the floral dress you must have.
I wore this dress to brunch, and let’s just say she was a show stopper. I received so many compliments, especially about the colors in the dress. The detail alone will have you swooning for more. I knew I wanted to focus on the blue in the dress, so in walks my blue pumps, and earrings. Cobalt blue is a strong, yet feminine color. I completed my look with my black bow bag. This dress made me feel like I could conquer anything. Next time you’re looking for a brunch dress or just a day of hanging with the girls, this is “THE” dress. My pumps and bag is no longer available, so I’m sharing ones I know you will love.
Just stopping in to share the must have LBD (little black dress) with you today. Can you believe we are in April already. Time waste for know one, so keep pushing to reach those goals. As many of you may know I have fallen madly in love with SheIn. The brand offers affordable fashions, and I can’t get enough. So, once again if you haven’t checked them out, you need to.
This dress could be dressed down with sneakers, or in my case heels. I guess I usually opt for heels, being I’m a shorty and need a little height. Can you see the detail on this dress, it’s like they knew it was for me when they designed it. I added a belt just to enhance the waist area. Truth be told, the tulle is what I love the most about the dress. Can wait to style her again!
Hello friends, here we are again with another addition of my fashion style. I have always been a fan of jumpsuits, but it’s always an issue to find ones that don’t need major alterations. So, today I’m sharing why crop jumpers is the only way to go. Being a petite woman, I just like to shop without major issues with my clothing. I’m sure you’re thinking, what’s the big deal, just take it to a seamstress and have it fixed. Well… I don’t have time for that. When I like a piece and I know when I want to wear it, time is never on my side.
In walks the crop jumper a petite girls dream. When I first saw this jumpsuit, I immediately fell in love. I mean look at the detail, now you see why it has become my favorite. The jumper hit at the right spot, and the colors made it pop even more. Shein has truly been my go to place for fashions on a budget. I love being able to buy multiple pieces for such a great prices. If you haven’t tried them yet, I’m telling you you’re missing out.
The lip prints on the jumper is what really WON me over. I also knew I had seen a bag with lip prints on it (ads I saw on Facebook) and knew that would be great to pair it with this jumper. Now… this was the time I wasn’t mad about those ads that you always see. It’s like they were spying on me. Being that red is one of my go to colors, I opted for my red Mary Jane heels to complete my look. I received so many compliments on this jumper, and I promise you will too. A definite must have for Spring.
Happy Sunday Friends, it’s been far too long and I happy to see you all again. I use to be so excited about blogging my latest outfit, but lately I just haven’t been inspired. I have been trying to reevaluate “THE WHY” I’m doing this again. I guess it’s not as easy as you think when you work full time. I envy those ladies that are able to balance it all. They make it look easy. Truth be told, they are the real BOSS babes.
Now let’s get to my why I started blogging. I have loved fashion for as long as I can remember. And being asked where did you purchase that dress or top, it was just obvious to start blogging. I wanted to showcase petite women over a certain age can still be stylish. I also knew I wanted to empower women on looks that can be put together not by spending a great deal of money. As stated in a previous post, clothes don’t make the woman, the woman wearing them does.
Those are just a few of my whys, I will go into more detail at a later time. Now… let’s get to my outfit and the real reason I’m here. When I purchased this Worthington top from JCPenney, I originally was going to pair it with a bold red pant, but I decided to focus on the shirt more and wear a more neutral pant. Let’s just say, I’m really happy with the outcome. The top really stood out, and adding my white booties, completed the entire look. I thought, I did that! Unfortunately these pieces are no longer available. However I will share a few pieces I know you will love.
Hello friends, boy have I miss you guys. I have had so many things going on with my life, I just couldn’t find the time to write a blog posts. You know… from time to time, it’s great to take a step back to re-evaluate things. That’s exactly what I’ve done, and I like to think I’m better and ready to tackle what 2019 will bring me.
2018, was a really hard year for me if I must be honest. I battle things I thought I had left behind years ago. So, let’s get into it! A few years back I talked about my battle with depression. The thing about depression it never truly goes away, you just try and deal with things differently. That’s what I thought I was doing, when I realized that I was sinking yet again.
I started to gain weight, and just didn’t like the person looking back at me in the mirror. I often thought, girl you have a lot to be thankful for, why dwell on the negative. I would stay in my room, and stair at the walls in disbelief that this was my Life. I spent a great deal of time on social media to try and escape from things going on in my life. The thing with that though was, that didn’t help my situation it only made it worse.
I found that nothing was really making me happy anymore. I didn’t want to shop, and definitely didn’t want to take photos. I saw more death in my family in 2018, and it hit me so hard. I thought how will I go on… how can I pick myself up and keep pushing. Because I knew in the end, I was a survivor and God had bigger plans for me. The funniest thing was, I was getting older and I’ve yet to live to my full potential. When will I get it all the way together? Instead of continuing down that road, I turned to someone I will call my angel.
Let’s just say this person came into my life at the right time. My fear was having so many things going around in my head and not being able to share them with anyone. I now had an outlet, and I could feel things starting to get better. Now don’t get me wrong, I’m still not the person I would like to be, I’m just dealing with it day by day. My angel made me see that my life had meaning.
Depression will have you thinking that your life is worthless, and no one really wants to know how things are going in your life. That is probably the biggest misconception EVER. My angel showed me that was so not true. I knew deep inside that I had beat this battle before, and I would beat it again. All my life, I’ve had conversations with God daily, but this day was different. My grandmother appeared and told me things may not always go my way, but just keep fighting the fight and tell the DEVIL not today.
I have claimed that 2019, will be the year I live to my full potential. I will not neglect myself anymore. I will be more consistent with things that make me happy. I will get back to the girl that SMILES, and know that smile is REAL. I will be open and honest because my TRUTH could change someone else. So… here’s to a phenomenal year.
The Fab Five Fashionistas are back with a fabulous Holiday collaboration . For a moment, I need you to think about this…have you gotten that special dress or jumpsuit for all the parties and events I know you will be attending. Well… look no further me and my fashionistas sisters are coming with a few stylish options for you to consider.
When, we decided on a holiday outfit for our blog posts, I really had no idea what I wanted to wear. I knew that I wanted it to be something red, because let’s face it, when I think of parties I instantly think of red. So, instead of buying something new, I decided to shop in my own closet. I knew I had only worn this red cape dress once, and it was exactly what I wanted to showcase. I decided to pair the dress, with a classic pair of black pumps. Adding in my black (Chanel) inspired bag, and your girl was ready to party.
Without further ado let’s get into my sisters outfits.
Mary brought plaid to life in this outfit. When I envision plaid, Mary definitely comes to mind, because no one can style it quite like she does. Plaid is one of those prints that will never go out of style, it just keep getting better every year. I love how Mary added leopard to her entire look. Great way to mix those prints and make it stand out.
Lydia is give me life in this dress. Lydia, has the body to make any dress stand out. I love how she went with a classy green, and adding in the gold pumps elevated this entire look. Tell me you wouldn’t be the life of the party in this sexy number.
Ayesha looks absolutely stunning in her winter white. I love how Ayesha styled her entire outfit, because truth be told, I couldn’t get away with wearing this color. She totally rocked it, and those stunning stiletto booties was the star of the entire look. Didn’t I tell y’all, her shoe game is always on point.
Reyni left me speechless in this look. This black and gold jumpsuit is AMAZING, and I am so here for it. When Reyni walks in the room, all eyes will be on her in this beauty. I love the gold accents with the accessories as they enhance the outfit, while still leaving the focus on the jumpsuit. Girl, you killed it with this look.
As always thank you for taking the time to read, and hopefully get a little inspiration for your next holiday event. Be sure to visit each of the ladies to learn more about their looks. Since I shopped my closet for this post, I’m sharing some pieces I know you will love.
Hello friends, I know I haven’t really been on a consistent blog schedule. Like I have stated from previous post, your girls life is just all out of whack. I’m really pushing myself, and I hope to be on a more regularly schedule soon. Now, that we have all that out of the way, let’s talk about my latest collaboration with my wonderful fashionista sisters. It is truly amazing when you see a graphic t-shirt and realize it speaks volumes with five magical words.
Use Your Power To Empower, think about that statement and ask yourself are you using your power to empower? I like to think in everything I do, professionally, and personally I’m doing so. We all have “Power” but it’s what we do with it that will make the difference. This collaboration with my girls embodies this statement to a T. The world has been consumed with social media, and for that reason as women we need to work together to uplift one another. I remember when I first started blogging, I reached out to several bloggers just asking for advise. In my mind, I thought they probably wouldn’t respond, because I had heard they talk about being supportive, but never really do. Boy was I wrong!
Fast forward, not only did I get support, I’ve met some amazing women on this journey. Empowering each other comes in so many forms…From offering advice, being that listening ear, and encouraging one another. I have been so down, and here’s where the encouraging part comes in. My fashionista sisters not only gave me words of wisdom, they were present in the moment to offer support. I received text messages, ensuring that if I needed anything, they were there for me. So, when I think about that, I’m brought to tears, because these women really get me. Now, you tell me if this isn’t using your power to empower I don’t know what is.
A New Day + Vital Voices pieces at Target showed the world that women can work together and inspire one another, one tee at a time. Are you doing your part to uplift your fellow sister? If you don’t know anything else know that “When Women Unite We Can’t Be Stopped”. So, use your power for good! Without further ado, I hope you enjoy how each one of us styled this tee. Because baby we nailed it!
I styled my look, with a plaid blazer purchased last year from Rainbow, black skirt (old) from A’gaci, and my thigh high boots. I truly believe thigh high boots were designed to be worn with short skirts. What do you think? Don’t forget to check out more details of my fashionistas sisters looks.
I want to start this post off by saying I’m so sorry for being MIA yet again. Life has really kicked your girl in the butt these days. Although things have slowly gotten better, I’m still a (WIP) work in progress. So, now that we have gotten that out of the way. Let’s get right into it. The Fab Five Fashionistas are back again with another collaboration. I know I say this every time we collab, but I tell you, this was my favorite collab. Because who doesn’t love leopard.
When I was thinking what I may wear, so many thoughts came to mind. You see, I have more leopard in my closet than what I thought I had. I guess, I really love leopard prints. So, I decided on a leopard dress. Can you see why I went with this dress, isn’t she a beauty. I wanted to have a color to make the dress pop, so I went with red. Trust me, that was a hard decision. Pink was a close second. Animal prints are really popular this fall, and I’m so here for it. What’s your thoughts on the animal print craze? Now… enough about my outfit, let’s get into my fashionistas sisters.
I love a well put together outfit, and this dress layered with a black top is right on point. Lydia is giving me fall vibes, with the black boots every woman should have in their closet. Lydia never disappoints in her style choices. She always inspires me and gives me great ideas. Keep doing your thang luv!
Mary brought sexy to an entire new level in her style choice. When I first saw her pictures, I thought it was the cutest jumpsuit, only to find out it was two pieces. Mary continues to amaze me on her style. She too decided to add a pop of red to her look, and I’m loving everything about it. Now this is the way to bring leopard print to life!
Ayesha look was classic, and the type of outfit all women could incorporate into their work wear. I especially love how she layered the bold color sweater to complete her look, not to mention the matching boots. I never thought I would meet someone that shared my love of booties like Ayesha. Trust me when I say, her collection is fierce. My girl continues to knock it out the park.
Reyni knows how to work a pencil skirt. She decided to pair the skirt with a black top, and completed her look with the purple jacket. By the way that’s my favorite color, so I’ll be expecting in the mail soon. Now as long as I could remember I’ve always seen leopard paired with red or black. The fact that she brought the heat with purple, elevated hr entire look. Now this is the way you think outside the box, and bring home the perfect look.
Here’s another look with leopard print that I love.
I hope you have enjoyed our take on the leopard print craze, and don’t forget to leave a comment on your thoughts on our looks.
Hello you all, I have really been going through some personal things, thus the reason for me being Mia. September is my favorite month, could it be because my birthday is this month. In exactly two days I will be celebrating my 51st birthday. I’m beyond excited about that. So I figured it would be a perfect time to drop in. For today’s post, I will be showing you how shopping in your own closet, can bring out a perfect look.
I’ve had this black and white skater skirt for years, and this is my third time wearing it. When I found this tee with the words “NOPE” all over it some months back, I thought it would look perfect with my skater skirt. In keeping with my black and white theme, I added my black booties to the mix. I purchased these booties maybe three years back, and “YES” they are still in great condition. Could it be I don’t wear my shoes that often, but nonetheless I love it. Can you say comfort at its best…
Although I loved my overall look, something was missing, so I added a bold red lip with my red tassel earrings. Finish the look with the cutest teal bow bag. The bag is the only thing new in this entire look. Can you believe this beauty came from Target? Let me tell you, the more I shop at Target, the more I’m impress with their fashions. I felt so liberating picking clothes that I already own to complete this look. Do you shop in your own closet? If not, you might surprise yourself with looks revamped. I couldn’t find a similar skirt or tee to share, so guess what I’m sharing some styles I do love.
