With its soft energy, lepidolite helps to instill calmness, relaxation, and serenity. This is a perfect crystal to carry with you when you are undergoing challenging moments in life such as a change in relationships or job status, financial stresses, or when facing difficult situations. It helps to bring you into alignment with the frequency of balance and transformation when you are going through a transition, and allows you to maintain a sense of optimism and self-love. Lepidolite can help to release old behavioral patterns that no longer serve you while you go through change and to discover your higher self.
When you focus on this crystal it will help you to remember to breathe, to focus your senses on the activity of breathing in slow, calming breaths and to stabilize and ground you. Lepidolite has a reputation for reducing anxiety and worry, calming frayed nerves and releasing tension.
Lepidolite is truly the stone of crystal dreams as it helps to calm the mind and slow down one’s thoughts. The soothing properties of this stone can help with sleep disturbances and help prevent nightmares. For this purpose, it is an exceptional crystal for children, and can especially help those with more sensitive emotional natures. It is a useful crystal for dream work to help guide one through dreamtime and for recalling them the next morning.
To create a zen-like experience for relaxation, add lepidolite to a warm bath and allow the gentle energies of the crystal to provide an energetic sigh of relief to your mind, body, and soul. Lepidolite harmonizes well with lithium quartz, clear quartz, and amethyst, which can also be added to the bath water to calm the emotions.
There is perhaps something symbolic about spring, a time when the snow starts to melt, when we can start to feel our better selves emerging after a bone chilling, soul crushing length of winter. Spring is a time for renewal, rebirth and rejuvenation. Although the roads are a mess and the walking trails are muddy, I can sense a freshness in the air and finally, finally, I feel the familiar uplifting feeling of hope:
Hope that this year, I will make smarter choices, be healthier, be more patient with the people around me, and just generally “be” better.
Yet how can a busy parent achieve this? So many times, I have sat down to write a new blog post, only to become paralyzed by the thought of opening one of my DIY beauty books to find inspiration for a new recipe. This sense of paralysis comes, I think, from having my energies blocked for too long by literally a shield of ice. How can we lift the barrier and open up our energies again?
I am embarrassed to say that I have not engaged in meditation since before the snow fell. Not that meditation is particularly difficult, but I found myself actually falling asleep with crystals in my hands whenever I laid down to meditate. This, to me, was a sign that I perhaps needed to exercise some other form of energizing self care before I could engage in productive meditation. That, and the fact that when I did have ten minutes of quiet to myself, there was usually some other task of a more pressing nature that I needed to attend to. I hardly feel that I am alone in this feeling, so the focus in this blog will be self care and renewal.
At this time of year, I turn to my amethyst crystals for their healing benefits. The colour evokes the aromatic anticipation of the lush early blooming lilac bushes. Amethyst is said to help you connect to your inner consciousness, balancing your energies and improving restful sleep. To this end, I have been wearing my amethyst earrings, necklace and bracelets from Crystal Hills Organics. As well, I have been using the Crystal Dreams body serum at night to literally rub the calm into my skin. Also, you could drop an amethyst crystal into any neutral face or body cream to imbue it with the crystal’s calming energy.
Every morning, I have some time to myself in the kitchen, preparing breakfast and school lunches before everyone else wakes up. At this time, I have been using a sage essential oil in my diffuser, which is said to stimulate the mind and banish any mental fatigue.
Finally, since the air is warmer it is possible again to be outside for longer periods of time. One thing that I find is so good for my self care is to take an outdoor power walk or hike through the trails in the river valley. This outdoor cardio activity provides excellent toning benefits to both body and mind. If I am with a friend, then we get the benefit of a cardio visit (and of course we retoxify our bodies with a latte at the end of our session), or alone I consider it a “forest bath” for my mind, body and soul.
These self care options are simple, achievable and make me feel just a little bit closer to the happiness that the warmth of summertime brings. I think the key for each one of us is to identify what type of self care works for us, so that we can effectively renew our vitality. My hope is that a renewed sense of energy on the inside will translate into a renewed beauty brightness on the outside.
Who loves chocolate? This smoothie contains more than just chocolate, it has hormone supporting maca powder and antioxidant-rich blueberries and strawberries!
Benefits of maca powder include:
⦁ Increase libido and fertility in men and women
⦁ Support hormones
⦁ Boost immune system
⦁ Improve memory and focus
⦁ Increase energy
Chocolate Maca Berry Smoothie
⦁ 1/2 cup frozen or fresh blueberries
⦁ 4 medium organic strawberries
⦁ 1 frozen banana
⦁ 2 tablespoons raw cacao powder
⦁ 1 teaspoon maca powder
⦁ 1 cup unsweetened coconut milk, hemp milk or almond milk (for those who do not have nut allergies). Add more if you do not like it too thick.
⦁ 1 scoop vanilla vegan protein powder (optional)
1. Blend all ingredients together and serve.
Strawberries are a good source of vitamin C, folic acid and dietary fibre. They are sweet, delicious, and satisfying to eat. Their nutritional qualities, which nourish our bodies from the inside, combined with their unique acidic nature, which beautifies our skin from the outside, lets them do double duty as a great food and DIY beauty product ingredient.
This recipe is for a leg and foot scrub that will slough off dead skin cells, rejuvenate your tough skin, and enable your moisturizer, sunscreen, and body serum to penetrate fully and work as best they can.
You will need 1 cup of ripe fresh strawberries and 1 cup sugar. The rest is up to you.
For the strawberries, you can mash them with a fork for a chunky texture or puree them. Use the texture that you prefer.
As for sugar, I like raw sugar, or anything a bit chunkier, white or brown, to add some depth and vigor to the scrub.
Add sugar to the mashed or pureed strawberries until you achieve the texture you prefer – a denser texture or something creamier. Apply to legs below the knees, and scrub the soles of your feet. If you can, leave it sit for a few minutes to allow for better exfoliation, then rinse off. This particular scrub is fun to do in the backyard while your kids are playing in the sprinkler, and then you can just hose yourself off. My kids like to apply it to their own little limbs for fun, and if they eat some it is fine: the ingredients are safe, edible, and delicious!
Strawberries contain an anti-oxidant called ellagic acid, which preserves collagen in our skin, acting as an anti-aging tool. Ellagic acid also has a photoprotective effect, which means it assists in protecting our skin from harmful UV rays, and may help protect our skin against wrinkles.
The acidic quality of strawberries is effective in lightening scars and reducing dark spots on the skin, as well as aiding in exfoliation.
Finally, this scrub just feels great. So slather on and enjoy!
The rose quartz is a beautiful rosy-pink coloured crystal that symbolizes the very essence of love. This crystal allows us to see the beauty, romance, hope, gentleness, compassion, and sensuality in ourselves and others. It helps us to become more receptive to the beauty of art, literature, and music all around us.
This gemstone lifts up our vibration to the pure energy of unconditional love – to help us accept it, offer it and open ourselves up to it. Rose quartz reminds us to love ourselves, as we cannot accept love from others if we truly see ourselves as unlovable. The lack of love and compassion for ourselves is highly toxic and it is a form of self-destruction. Rose quartz fosters a state of mind that is conducive to inner peace, acceptance, self-worth, compassion, and sensitivity. To increase your feelings of self-love, hold a rose quartz crystal heart or a rose quartz crystal in each hand and say some positive affirmations about your worthiness of love. “I am lovable”, “I am worthy of love”, “I am love”, etc.
When dealing with matters of the heart that involve loss or lovesickness, rose quartz is truly beneficial as it aids the heart chakra. This crystal offers gentle healing to help soothe emotional wounds and sadness. Rose quartz also supports an individual’s commitment to willingly release emotional pain, resentment, and feelings of guilt or loss. The energy can be released and transmuted into positive energy, making way for forgiveness, compassion, peace, and healing.
Rose quartz is a love stone and has been given through the ages as a token of love between lovers, or offered to a friend to help them in their quest for love and happiness. This lovely crystal can be worn or placed on the heart or upper chest area. It can be placed beside a bed or in a room to lift up the vibrational frequency to that of love and peace. Rose quartz is very beneficial in a gemstone massage, gemstone water, and gemstone oil or used in meditation.
Additionally, rose quartz stimulates the circulation, strengthens the heart, and promotes a rosy complexion as well as soft skin.
Well we are 30 days away from Saint Valentine’s Day. Although it is primarily a celebration of romance and romantic love, I think it’s the perfect time to celebrate all aspects of love. Many of us are in such different stages in life, may it be happily married or trying to feel love again for their partner, a new parent overflowing with love, a teenager experiencing their first love, devastated after a breakup and trying to feel self-love or a new relationship that is in the initial stages of bliss. All of these situations present the opportunity to celebrate love.
It is said that the frequency of love vibrates at 528 Hertz, which is higher than the frequency of what the human body usually resonates at. Love truly makes the world a better place.
Let’s commit to performing on random act of LOVE each day for the next 30 days and see if we can spread a bit of magic.
Day 1: Today is all about you. Do something you love.

I wanted to create the Goddess Spotlight so that it could serve to inspire women to awaken their inner goddess and let their inner light shine. I would love it if we all could feel like we were in a state of enchantment that allowed us to feel beautiful, sensual, confident, passionate and empowered. Where we all felt valued, cherished and loved while truly expressing our inner truth.
Our Goddess this season is Kari Tribble. I have followed her on Instagram the last few years and truly adore her as I find her to be inspirational and very knowledgeable about energy. She has written some pretty amazing blog articles, of which my favorite was Recycling Negative Energy with The New Moon | A Ritual to Help You Feel Better (on Medium.com). I asked Kari some questions about herself, so I could share some details on this beauty in the hope of empowering others to live their best life.
Let’s all Shine Bright and Be Amazing.
Goddess Spotlight Questions:
How did you get started?
This may be a strange answer to this question, but my immediate respond to this question is to say “nature.” I grew up in a small town in Northern Wisconsin which is known for its forests and lakes. My childhood home was in the middle of a forest and I believe being around nature every single day growing up was truly where it all started for me. I became aware of the philosophy of “Animism,” because I grew up dialed in and feeling one with nature. Seeing Spirit in all things. Nature was my babysitter while my parents were gone a lot.
What is your background?
I have been an Intuitive Reader for about 17 years now. I am also an Aesthetician and I own a beauty salon called Avari Beauty. I am also a Beauty Blogger and I connect with companies and their products to share them with the public. Prior to this, I have been in Administration.
Do you have any words of wisdom for others?
Follow and listen to your intuition. Let it teach you how to see the world outside of the box. Open yourself up to your dreams and ask for teachings through them. Walk the line between being human and being spirit as much as you can. Spending too much time in human or spirit zone will cause imbalance.
How are you helping other women?
I LOVE inspiring women to define themselves for themselves. I have given advice and readings and teachings for years surrounding topics of self-awareness and intuition, connecting with the moon for manifestation, running moon groups, and of course helping them feel connected to the adornment process of celebrating their bodies by doing beauty services on them.
How do you give back?
I offer a lot of personal time to listening and providing advice, sometimes doing free live reading events on social media platforms, and I recently connected with a local women’s shelter where I am donating beauty products I receive from companies and plan to expand on what I can provide to help the women there.
What do you do in your free time?
Most of my free time is spent with my family. I have a son, two cats and a boyfriend. I’m also close to my father who is elderly now and I try to see him as much as possible. I enjoy traveling and taking photos with my boyfriend who is talented behind the lens. I also love film. I enjoy getting lost in a movie or tv series. I used to create music. I still try to do that from time to time.
Have you had any personal challenges that you have overcome?
Self-doubt is a major teacher for me. I have had to learn how to believe in myself when others have not or made me doubt myself, or when I simply felt like I couldn’t believe in myself. I felt like I had no voice for a long, long time. On a physical level, I had a near death experience in 2011 after giving birth to my son and experiencing a vicious infection. I survived, but 6 months after that I was diagnosed with thyroid cancer. Then there were those difficult relationships, childhood trauma… you know, the stuff that therapy was invented for (hehe). The ways in which I have learned to overcome these things have boiled down to these simple techniques:
2) Earth Atmosphere Meditation (I envision myself outside of the Earth’s atmosphere to truly see the bigger picture and remember that I am a spirit being inhabiting a human body and the world/my reality is my oyster.
3) Just stop the thoughts and go for it. When the thoughts are overwhelming, silent them out and just get productive
4) Manifestation and affirmation rituals. Working with the full moon to bring things to me.
What are your future plans?
I plan to grow and evolve my business, Avari Beauty, into a multiple location esthetician salon. I will also be launching my own brand of professional eyelash extensions VERY soon and I want to launch some beauty products in the future. I also plan to create educational courses through KariTribble.com to teach some of the spiritual rituals and practices I have developed over the years. I also have plans to start a podcast soon, too!
What has been your biggest challenges in your career and how have you overcome them?
My biggest challenges have been all of the figuring out/workload of launching a business by myself. Learning how to make sure all of the details are set up correctly and then implementing them into practice. Minnesota has very strict salon policies so I have had to jump over a lot of hoops to make sure everything was in place. I’ve learned to ask a lot of questions, ask for help in areas that I could ask for help, and just do one thing at a time until everything was completed.
What have been your biggest successes that you are proud of?
3 years ago, I was pretty poor. I was sick for a long time and I was leaving an unhealthy relationship of 6 years. I was a full time mother and a part time employee and I wasn’t sure if I could support myself and my son after leaving my ex. I did a manifestation course by Sarah Prout and put my entire heart and soul into developing my own lash extension business. In 3 years, I tripled my income and the business is growing and expanding fast. I’ve worked tirelessly to make this happen, but I am in charge of my time and I get to do things with my son I wasn’t able to do before. And my sickness? It completely changed. I am so much healthier and vibrant. I am so proud of myself for doing what I needed to do, against the odds and fear. It’s amazing what we are capable of when we just go for it.
What would you say to young women who are interested in getting into your field?
You contact me and I will help you in whatever way I can. You will love this field of work. Don’t stop learning and working on your technique. Grow, evolve, and dream BIG.
What are some of your favorite self-care tips?
Nature. Always. Go into the forest. Put your feet in the water. Sit near the ocean during a full moon in a white blanket. This is the best kind of self-care medicine you can get. Let those earth frequencies envelop you… and then make sure to give it back some of yours, too.
Do you meditate or pray?
I talk as if I am facing my spirit guides, the Universe, etc in person. I talk to them in my mind and sometimes out loud. When I need to connect in a different kind of way, I will meditate and pray. I also ask for dreams. There are so many ways to connect to all that is.
What is your morning beauty routine? evening?
I cleanse my skin morning and night with Michael Todd Organic Detox Cleanser, then I follow up with my current serum, eye cream, and moisturizer. Some evenings I will use a mask. My favorite mask is by my friend Kendra. Her shop is called @MoonAndBeeApothecary on Instagram. Her detox mask is must. Same with the cleanser I mentioned.
What 3 tips or tricks can you share for feeling and looking your best?
I will tell you the best tip: You need to believe it. If you truly learn how to believe it then you will see the results on the outside by the reaction of actions that occur from such powerful thought. That’s the real secret to life!
What’s a great book you can recommend?
My absolute favorite right now is The Afterlife of Billy Fingers. SO GOOD.
What is your superpower or spirit animal?
My intuition and cats and eagles!
What is your favorite quote?
“Nothing is at last sacred but the integrity of your own mind, absolve you to yourself and you shall have the suffrage of the world.” – Emerson
Who knew these bars could be raw, gluten free, vegan, grain free, dairy free and of course amazing all in one go!? There are no artificial colours or sweeteners in this recipe and they are naturally coloured with spinach juice.
This recipe calls for peppermint oil, which is more potent than peppermint extract. I have not tried this recipe with peppermint extract, if you do use it, add the required 1 teaspoon then add more to your taste.
Yields 20 bars
10 medjool dates, pits removed
1 cup sunflower seeds (or substitute with almonds, if you have no nut allergies)
1/3 cup cocoa powder
1 tablespoon maca powder (optional)
1 teaspoon food grade peppermint oil
3 tablespoons coconut milk (or sub with almond milk, if you have no allergies)
2 tablespoons chocolate chips (Enjoy Life brand – for allergy free)
1 cup coconut oil, softened
4 tablespoons coconut flour, sifted
4 tablespoons arrowroot powder
1 teaspoon food grade peppermint oil
2 tablespoons raw unpasteurized honey
1 tablespoon fresh mint leaves, minced
1-2 tablespoons spinach juice for colour or 1 teaspoon spirulina powder
1/3 cup Enjoy Life chocolate chips
1 teaspoon coconut oil
1. Add all crust ingredients into a food processor and process until a dough forms. Press into an 8×8 greased pan or line with parchment paper for easy removal.
2. Combine all middle ingredients into a stand up mixer and whip for 1 minute. Spread evenly on to the crust.
3. Pour 1 inch of water in a small pot, then put a metal bowl on top so it fits on the rim. Place the chocolate chips and coconut oil into the small metal bowl. Boil water, the steam will melt the chocolate chips. Stir until fully melted, and pour over bars. Put in the fridge to harden.
4. Store in the fridge up to a week or freezer for up to 1 month (if they last that long).
