With the 2018 Fall Parade of Homes wrapping up last Sunday, it seems everyone around the office has a bit more spring in their step after reviewing the incredible feedback we received over the last four weeks. From the remarkable accolades on our popular Ellsworth Model in Hidden Meadows, to the comments on the four new floor plans we released for this Parade, the team is beaming with optimism from the new opportunities presented through the feedback we received.

As we reflect on the reactions to our parade models, we see a common theme reverberating throughout in that the architecture and design of our model homes is truly an homage to our namesake – Creative Homes. We showcased twelve model homes on the 2018 Fall Parade of Homes in which six of our models showcased one of our new floor plans. We had the Atwood in Glen View Farm, the Augustine and the Bailey in Adelaide Landing, the Prescott in Easton Village and Liberty Ponds, and the opulent Ellsworth over in Hidden Meadows.

As the visitors came to speculate, many noticed the wider staircases, oversized windows, and tall ceilings showcased in our models. By making these subtle tweaks to all of our floor plans, it allows the home to feel more open. Although we have many different floor plans, each one is designed to be efficient for families of all sizes as we believe your home should reflect your lifestyle.

In addition to the accolades on the new floor plans, many raved about the incredible wall details tucked into our model homes. From the wainscoting woven throughout the Augustine model up in Adelaide landing to the floating shelving framing the fireplace in Easton Village, or the incredible tile and shiplap detail in the owner’s bathroom in the Ellsworth model at Hidden Meadows, our in-house designers did an incredible job showcasing the talent of our team in each one of our models. All of our models are designed to be an example of the astounding talent of our design team and the Parade models on the 2018 Fall Parade of Homes were no exception.

Over 3,100 individuals came out to see our Model Homes on the Fall Parade and we are so thankful for the wonderful people we met and the relationships that blossomed out of the Fall Parade.  We embrace all of the feedback we receive as we use it to propel us forward to be more innovative in our designs and it allows us the opportunity to continue to tailor our customer experience to the desires and dreams of everyone who walks through our model homes.

Each year, the Creative Homes team partners with Hearts and Hammers to give back to a deserving family. With the help of Bollig Painting, we were able to provide homeowners John and Linda with a newly painted exterior of their home and a fresh update to their gardens for the 2018 Hearts and Hammers Program Day.

Hearts and Hammers is a local organization that provides exterior home improvement assistance for senior citizens, disabled adults, and veterans of the United States Armed Forces or their surviving spouse so that they may continue living independently. Through the help of organized teams of volunteers, their expertise, and materials, Hearts and Hammers sends out over 10,000 volunteers on their annual Program Day to help deserving families across the Twin Cities update the exterior of their home.

We are so grateful for the wonderful opportunity to give back to the community and truly make an impact for deserving families like John and Linda. We want to extend a special thank you to Hearts and Hammers and Bollig Painting for helping us make the day a success!

Our sales team is the combination of everything wonderful and everything bright. While each member of the team does have a different approach when helping you navigate through what is arguably the largest purchase of your life, they each bring their own ideas, skillsets, and experience to every new client they encounter. In no particular order, the beloved sales team:
Steve Tregembo

Steve is our beloved Vice President of Sales and the valiant leader of our sales team! Although Steve began his career in the building industry as a sales consultant just as the housing market started to fall in 2007, he never let the challenges facing him affect his performance. Throughout his time serving as a sales consultant, he remained the top sales performer in volume and continued to sell homes to a diverse mix of target consumer groups spanning from first-time homebuyers to move-up customers looking to accommodate for their evolving needs, and even obtained his broker license. He continues to find new strategies to rise above any obstacle our sales team may face and continues to steer the sales ship with ease. In his free time, Steve enjoys downhill skiing, being on the lake with his family, and rooting for his beloved Packers.

You finally did it. You did your research on where to build, which neighborhood to build in, which floor plan you want, and have worked closely with your New Home Specialist to get everything just right! You signed your purchase agreement and are FINALLY ready for the infamous selections meeting!

While this is all very exciting, it can seem overwhelming as well. How will you know what towel bars to choose, or which paint color to put in the bathroom? Not to worry, our designers are here to help you out, and we’re here to give you an insiders scoop on what to expect in your selections meeting.

The Logistics

Your appointment will be scheduled with one of our designers. Together you will be selecting all of the finishes, flooring, wall colors, and many other components of your home! Our designers Jill and Anna are ready to listen to all of your ideas and craft your home specific to you and your vision for your home!

Typically, our selections meetings last anywhere from 4-6 hours. We can always schedule a follow-up selections appointment to make sure that you are completely confident in your decisions as it can be overwhelming to select every little detail of your home in one sitting.

A follow up appointment typically only lasts 1-2 hours and can be a great opportunity for you to reaffirm your initial thoughts and visions for your home or make any adjustments prior to the final sign off to avoid late change fees!

Due to the lengthy nature of a selections meetings, we do encourage you to find child-care for your children. In doing so, you can devote your full and undivided attention on your new home without little distractions!
What to Prepare

In the few weeks leading up to your selections meeting, we encourage you to walk as many available homes in your community to get a better idea of the colors and options you would like to see in your own home. Check out open houses, model homes, or even just call up a friend or two to take a gander through their home! Walking through a home helps to foster cohesive decisions in planning your own home as you can see the selections at large to get an overall feel for what you want to see in your own home.

Consult the internet! Pinterest, Houzz, Instagram, and Facebook can be great resources for you to get ideas of features you would like to see in your home. Feel free to bring any  resources you find online to your appointment, so your designer can help gain a better understanding of the overall look and feel you are going for in your new home. Some new homeowners find it helpful to make a list of the specific areas to pay close attention designing prior to the meeting to ensure you stay true to your decisions and your budget throughout the meeting. Doing so allows you to splurge more in some areas, knowing you will be saving your money in others.

Take time to review the community-specific features of the community your new home will be built in. This will give you a great overview of what is already included in the base price of your home and can give you a good idea of which features you may want to upgrade, and which features you are content with keeping as is. Your sales agent can provide all of this information for you.

Crack open your Homeowner Manual and review the “Selections and the Preconstruction Process” section. This will allow you to gain a better understanding of the expectations that are set for the appointment at large.

Keep in Mind..

Remember, this is a meeting for YOU to design YOUR new home! While paging through the trends and everything else that may be circling around the internet, try to filter out the trends and designs you want in your home based on what would add value to your specific lifestyle. Just because something is featured in more than one model home or on multiple social media posts, does not  mean it has to be in your home too! Your home should fit your lifestyle, and mimic who you are as a person because ultimately the space will be yours for years to come. Be sure to make it your own!
