UK MP Claims Child Health Organisation ‘Arrogant & Dismissive’ On CBD Use
A British MP and former cabinet minister has heavily criticised a child health organisation, saying it has been obstructive to the use of medicinal cannabis, such as CBD.
Labour MP Ben Bradshaw, a former UK Minister for Health told a hearing of the health and social care select committee that the British Paediatric Neurology Association was ‘lying and dismissive’ of the concerns of families seeking the use of CBD for treatment of family members.
Former Minister For Health Calls Out ‘Obstructive’ Child Health Group
Bradshaw, who served under both Blair and Brown Labour governments said the BPNA was both “arrogant and dismissive” and an obstacle to families of children in need of proven medication.
The association last year advised doctors not to prescribe medical cannabis products other than GW Pharmaceuticals’ Epidiolex, although it wanted more research to be conducted.
Speaking in a House of Commons debate following an urgent question about medical cannabis, the former culture secretary said: “It is clear to me that the main barrier is the British Paediatric Neurology Association itself. When its president came to give evidence to the health and social care committee a couple of weeks ago, he was arrogant, he was dismissive of the families’ experience, and he misled our committee by denying that members of this house had sought a dialogue with him, which he had refused.”
Bradshaw then asked health secretary Matt Hancock: “What is the secretary of state going to do to remove the obstacle of the BPNA?”
Government Urged To Remove BPNA Obstacle
Later in the debate, fellow Labour MP Tonia Antoniazzi, co-chair of the all-party parliamentary group on medical cannabis, said: “The BPNA has not spoken as it should have and it has not done enough to support the families” – to which Bradshaw interjected: “It lied.”
Antoniazzi then said that, while she would not have used that word: “I totally agree with my right honorable friend. I say to the secretary of state that this has got to stop. We cannot wait for clinical trials. There is medicine out there – get it to the children who need it.”
Hancock told the House: “We have to follow the clinical judgments made by the relevant organisations, whether a royal college or, as in this case, an association. What I have done is ensure that a second opinion is available, because the BPNA guidance is merely guidance; it is not absolute.” “A clinician on the specialist register can make a decision according to what they think is best for the patient in front of them.”
In reply to Antoniazzi, he said: “The BPNA is going to have to answer for itself about the way in which its representatives conducted themselves in front of the select committee. It is independent.”
BPNA Says More Evidence Needed
The BPNA later responded, saying Bradshaw was “mistaken” in his remarks. A spokesperson for the association said: “The barrier to the use of medicinal cannabis containing THC in children’s epilepsy is the lack of evidence from any randomised controlled trials. The BPNA is keen to support such research into cannabis-based medicinal products to develop an evidence base.
“The BPNA is interested to explore whether drugs interacting with the endocannabinoid system are safe and effective in treating children with complex epilepsies. The BPNA has still not received any communication on this issue from any government minister.”
To conclude, a high-ranking UK Labour MP has accused the British Paediatric Neurology Association of being arrogant and dismissive of the concerns of families whose children could benefit from the use of CBD oil. The association say they are waiting for more research before consenting to more widespread use.

In celebration of 4/20, the unofficial stoner holiday celebrated around the globe, U.S. burger chain Carl’s Jr. launched their very own CBD infused burger – with customers lining up at 5.30am to try it out.
Officials from the chain announced last week that for one day only, they would be launching the Rocky Mountain High: CheeseBurger Delight (get it?) in just one Carl’s Jr. location in Denver, Colorado. From 6am, hungry locals had already filled up the parking lot to get a taste of the CheeseBurger Delight, with over 100 CBD burgers sold in the first hour of business.
With only 1,000 allotted CBD burgers available on the day, officials had to limit each customer to two CBD infused burgers to make sure everyone could get a bite. And in a not at all shocking move, the CheeseBurger Delight set customers back $4.20
Carl’s Jr. CBD Burger Review (1 DAY ONLY) - YouTube
So what exactly is in the CBD burger? Along with a CBD-infused version of the signature Santa Fe sauce, the CheeseBurger Delight is made up of two 100% charbroiled beef patties, pickled jalapeños, pepper jack cheese and Crisscut® fries sandwiched in a premium bun.
In the most surprising turn of events, the CheeseBurger Delight wasn’t just a 4/20 marketing stunt. Patty Trevino, senior vice president of brand marketing for Carl’s Jr. has said that they are considering making the CBD burger a permanent fixture on the menu, as “it is something that feels right for the brand” (can we also stop for a minute to appreciate the deliciousness of someone called Patty working for a burger chain? Ok – carry on).
Officials at Carl’s Jr. had been gearing up for the 4/20 launch of the CBD burger for a few months now. Trevino stated that the idea came shortly after the launch of the Beyond Meat burger, in response to the rapidly growing plant-based food trend. During a meeting with head chef Owen Klein, the duo developed a wish list of other “trends” they hoped to explore, which included a CBD-infused product.
Carl’s Jr. paired up with Bluebird Botanicals, a local Colorado-based company that produces CBD oil tinctures and capsules. By launching the CBD burger in Colorado, Carl’s Jr. can capitalize off the state’s strong cannabis and CBD regulation. Recreational cannabis and THC has been legal for adult consumption in the state since 2012, and it has grown to become one of the cannabis capitals of the United States.
FDA Put a Downer on Company’s CBD High
While CBD oil and industrial hemp was legalized on a federal level in the 2018 Farm Bill, that hasn’t stopped the FDA from cracking down on all the CBD-infused fun companies have been having with developing food and drink products.
Since Epidiolex (the first CBD-based medicine available in the United States) was approved by the FDA in 2018, it has complicated the status of CBD food and drink products – precisely because the FDA prohibits the addition of “drug products” to food and drink products. Across the country, stores selling CBD-infused food and drink products have been faced with raids and fines.
Luckily, most locations of Carl’s Jr. franchises in the United States are concentrated on the west coast states like Washington and California, where recreational cannabis and THC is legal (giving a new meaning to the wild wild west). So if they do ever get to roll out the CheeseBurger Delight as a permanent fixture on the menu, they’ll have established CBD oil testing and regulations to work with.
CBD Oil Is Getting The Royal Treatment (Kinda)
Since becoming a member of the Royal Family, Megan Markle has not had the easiest journey. Whether it be not following Royal Family tradition, keeping under wraps about her pregnancy, or even her very public and personal family feuds. The new mum has again made it into the headlines this week due to her somewhat estranged family. As it is revealed that her 26 year old nephew Tyler Dooley is launching a CBD product line in the UK.
The cannabis derived products will be part of a £20m drug operation under the name of the ‘Royally Grown’ brand. It’s main venture will be CBD oil, which Dooley has stated will help alleviate medical conditions and improve people’s health.
Tyler, whose dad Thomas Jr is Meghan’s half-brother says that his multi-million dollar commercial drug operation will be going global and will most definitely making it’s way over to the UK. The Oregon based businessman however insists that the last thing he wants to do is embarrass his celeb-turned-royal aunt
Although, last year he did hit headlines to announce he would be growing an ultra-strong cannabis strain named “Markle Sparkle”, in which he boasted would “blow your crown off”.
He says: “I’ve been doing this way before she even met Harry, I’m not trying to embarrass her and I’m not embarrassed about what I do, I’m thrilled to be in such a hot industry”.
“So instead of people thinking of me about Markle Sparkle, I’m using a product that is helping to beat cancer, or give some relief from seizures, aches and pains. I’ve got oil that is good for indigestion. CBD is twice as effective as aspirin for inflammation”.
Speaking from his home in Medford, Oregon, Tyler said: “The CBD industry is absolutely booming, it’s the hottest commodity in the world”.
The nephew to Megan Markle also adds that his line of CBD products be superior to all others on the market. With a higher potency than anywhere else in the world, because of Oregon’s perfect climate.
“In terms of products, we’re going to have around £20million worth out there, which you’ll be able to buy in the UK and around the world. These products we’ve been developing over years. We’ll be doing everything in-house from taking it from the field and giving it direct to the consumer”,says Tyler.
The ‘safe, clean, and good quality’ CBD sold by Royal Seeds is going to come in the form of drops, oils, morning supplements, and recovery tinctures. Which will be loaded with vitamins and a good CBD content. A team of investors have reportedly pumped millions into making the US based company a commercial success. The operation is apparently worth three to five million dollars.
Tyler insist that he isn’t just trying to cash out on the rapidly growing trend of CBD, but that he also wants to change the stigma surrounding the cannabis derived substance.
“The relief people get from it – I see it every day. That’s a big thing for me, I want a product that will help other people”.
Meghan Markle’s CBD Connection
The news that the Duchess of Sussex’s nephew has ventured into the CBD oil industry is not Meghan’s only connection with cannabis oil. It’s been reported that Meghan is a fan of CBD and CBD infused products, regularly visiting the super trendy Glow Bar London when she get’s a spare moment.
One half of the legendary Cheech & Chong, Tommy Chong has went from actor to comedian and from a cannabis right’s activist to entrepreneur. If this journey doesn’t ring a bell you might also recognise him as Leo from ‘That 70s Show’. Chong is also a massive advocate for marijuana and goes as far as to say that CBD is going to change the world.
Chong Backs CBD Oil to be the difference Maker
In a recent interview Chong said that he was surprised how complicated it was to get to where we are now with cannabis legalization. And now that legalization is slowly moving, a lot of people are trying to cash out on it. This is exactly what the 80’s star did with his own personal line of cannabis and CBD products, Chong’s Choice.
“I mean marijuana is really hot right now, but the product that is really going to change the world is CBD”, says Chong. And, this is exactly what Chong’s Choice is invested in. Chong has said that the best thing about CBD is that there are absolutely no limitations, it can even be sold in drugstores. The Canadian and American actor is probably referring to supermarket giants CVS and Walgreen’s recent venture into the world of CBD.
Chong claims that CBD oil works well on a number of levels and health wise it is safe. Although, we don’t know everything about CBD we do know that it’s non- toxic and that there have been no known cases of overdose. He also compares CBD’s health benefits to that of marijuana.
“Marijuana itself is probably the healthiest sleep aid on the market. The new face of marijuana is going to be old ladies who take it every night so that they can go to sleep. Even in China, 5,000 years ago were prescribing it for menstrual cramps. Marijuana is an equal opportunity drug, everyone is using it, everyone benefits from it”.
Chong and many others also see CBD and marijuana as an effective alternative medicine to opiods. The US is said to be in the middle of an opioid and drug crisis which sees hundreds of people daily brought into the emergency rooms. It is estimated that half of overdoses and drug related illness are from opioid drugs.
CBD and cannabis treatment is exactly how comedian Chong claims he overcame both prostate and colorectal cancer. One study suggests that cannabis in fact has the ability to kill prostate cancer cells. Research suggests it can stop them from spreading and at the same time, protect the normal and healthy cells.
One of our all time favourite scenes, take it away Tommy…
‘420’ is a worldwide annual gathering of herb enthusiasts. Yet for those of us who do not like the psychoactive effects of ‘THC’, but still want to hang out, we have the option of choosing the calming, relaxing effects of ‘CBD’.
What started out as a peaceful protest against cannabis prohibition, has now evolved into worldwide celebrations, everywhere from ‘Hyde Park’ to ‘Nottingham by the river’, ‘Hampshire picnic on the beach’ and much more.
To the uninformed, ‘420’ might sound like a number plucked from the sky.
Some people say it was a secret cop code, others still say it was the time of day (4:20) that the ‘Waldos’ met to find a plant hidden by a US coast guard.
Maybe it is the sum of all the phytocannabinoids, terpenes and flavonoids the plant contains?
Wherever the origins might have been, today it represents April 20th.
So if you and your friends are going to celebrate, but have no interest in ‘THC’, then I am happy to tell you that you can celebrate in style with ‘CBD’.
Vaping is becoming an incredibly popular method of ‘CBD’ consumption as it is efficient, easy to use, and has an incredibly fast absorption rate.
To get started with vaping all you require are 2 things:
‘CBD Flower’ or ‘CBD Oil’
A Vaporizer for CBD?
A discreet, handheld, portable, electronic device powered by batteries.
A vaporizer heats your ‘CBD liquid’ or ‘CBD herb’ producing cool, smooth vape that you inhale and then blow out. (There is NO Nicotine)
Vaporizers are Incredibly easy to use and intuitive, just make sure it is fully charged before you leave the house.
In terms of which one to purchase, you can pick one up for as little as £25 or pay as much as £250. Essentially they all do the same thing, but one point of note is that some will vape herb, some oil, and others still can vape both.
Choose the one (ask the shopkeeper) that suits the type of ‘CBD’ you are purchasing. Are you going for flower or oil? Flower being the precursor to oil.
5 Common CBD Vaping Mistakes - YouTube
CBD Flower for Vaping
Although it is identical in appearance to its infamous cousin, the flower available in the UK contains ‘CBD’. None the less it does come from the hemp plant which means the flower CAN contain up to 0.2% of THC.
There is no way in the world that this can get you high even if you vaped a field full of it, BUT it could turn up on a drug test so ‘CBD isolate oil’ might be more suitable for some of you.
CBD Oil Isolate
Vaping pure ‘CBD isolate’ means just that, pure ‘CBD’, nothing else.
‘CBD’ oil is extracted from the hemp plant and ‘CBD’ is then “isolated” from that solution.
NB: Purchase ‘CBD isolate’ from a vendor who can verify the isolate with ‘third party independent testing analysis’ from the supplier.
Certainly ‘CBD Isolate’ is the best option for those who cannot have any trace (negligible or not) in their system.
If you choose ‘CBD isolate’ oil, be sure to choose a vaporiser that can vape oils. Most ‘pens’ (compact and discreet pen shaped vaporizers) will vape oil only.
Easy to use, simply place some drops under your tongue. Due the sublingual region containing multiple blood vessels the oil will rapidly enter your circulatory system. Like Vaping, the sublingual method is certainly one of the best absorption methods when it comes to bioavailability.
NB: Only purchase ‘CBD Flower from a vendor who can verify the ‘CBD tincture’ with ‘third party independent testing analysis’ from the supplier.
CBD oil is usually thought of as coming in a tincture or capsule, but these are only two of the ways that you can take CBD. They may also prove to be two of the least efficient ways to enjoy CBD.
These tinctures are usually made of vegetable fat; this is because CBD oil is fully soluble in fat.
The problem with this is how fat is treated in the human body. In general, when the human body ingests fat, it stores it. This means that before you fully absorb the CBD in the solution, it’s locked away by your body!
Vaping CBD E Liquids, however, delivers it directly into your bloodstream. On top of that, it’s far healthier and more comfortable than smoking high-CBD hemp. What are the real advantages of vaping CBD E Liquids?
Vaping CBD Oil Is Fast Acting
One of the biggest advantages of vaping CBD is the sheer speed at which it kicks in. Orally ingesting CBD means that you have to wait for it to be metabolised. Vaping it, on the other hand, sends it directly into your bloodstream meaning that you can expect it to kick in far sooner. CBD oil which is inhaled has a higher level of bioavailability, which means that your body is able to absorb it at a higher rate.
CBD Vape Oil Is High Quality
CBD vape oil is usually manufactured to the high standards. Low quality E liquid tends to damage e-cigs, so you can be sure that any reputable vape store will only stock high quality stuff. Vape oils also offer CBD in one of its purest forms. Most CBD E liquids contain up to 90% CBD, with the rest of the solution being composed of glycerine and glycol. The other two ingredients simply facilitate vaporisation. It’s best practice to always search CBD oil reviews of a CBD E liquid to ensure the product you are buying is from a reputable brand and source.
Pure CBD vape oil is totally free from nicotine, so CBD E liquids are non-addictive.
Vaping your CBD is one of the most effective ways to control dosage. You have access to a whole range of E liquids with different strengths and concentrations. Potency can vary from 25mg per bottle up to 400mg, and beyond. On top of this you can also enjoy a massive array of flavours thanks to the nature of E liquid.
Finally, some people go as far as to make their own E liquid. If you’re one of these people then the amount of customisation you can put into your E liquid is nearly limitless!
How Much CBD E Liquid Do You Need?
The amount of CBD vape oil you buy can vary massively from person to person, and the best way to figure out how much you need is by starting low, and gradually increasing your dosages. Thankfully, there’s no risk of any nasty consequences from an overdose. Sadly there’s no one-size fits all, but with a little experimentation you’ll find exactly what will suit you.

Did You know?
Cacao contains Anandamide and Anandamide Inhibitors. These inhibitors boost and potentiate the effects of other cannabinoids, such as CBD and THC, creating a lock and key effect. Simply put, when you ingest chocolate with CBD or cannabis , the effects of both substances are made stronger and last longer.
CBD is the grounding counterbalance to THC. The taste in chocolate is subtly delicious. It’s called the ‘bliss chemical’ for a reason.
Even if you do eat your bodyweight in chocolate during the day you can destress naturally at night and take the edge off with a CBD chai latte and a CBD bliss ball. CBD is the grounding counterbalance to THC. The taste in chocolate is unsubtle
