Blushing Black | A Fashion, Beauty, & Lifestyle Blog
Blushing Black stemmed from a simple idea: to create a beautiful, digital space where I could express my thoughts, showcase creativity and share everything in between. I wanted to share content & lifestyle topics that all women could relate to. It turned out to be a safe space where women could feel like we’re having girl-chat on the sofa or laughing over Sunday brunch.
The summer was blazing hot, fall came & went too fast, & we survived the coldest winter ever. I’ve got a fever for the spring!
What I’m Wearing: Dress: BooHoo, Boots: Ami Clubwear, Jacket: TJ Maxi: Palais Royale, Necklace: Kendra Scott
Spring has arrived. Dust off all things white, add a simple leather jacket, zip up your boots & let’s start this season off right! I have been looking forward to spring for so many reasons, but mostly to enjoy the fresh air, the crisp weather & outdoors! I’m definitely about to pop, but that doesn’t mean giving up your style is the requirement.
Week 36: The countdown is on! Greatness is on the way!
I honestly don’t think I really started counting the days until I realized January was over and we were past Valentine’s Day! The time has flown by & now I’m coming up in the home stretch of pregnancy. Deep in my heart, I am waiting for greatness!
I didn’t get the chance to take official maternity photos when I was pregnant with Laila due to us getting into a major car accident just after my baby shower. My husband had a concussion and wasn’t allowed to drive, I had anxiety about driving & nightmares about the baby, so the last month of pregnancy was spent talking to insurance claim adjusters, buying two new cars, ER visits, praying Joe was conscious enough to put together a bassinet and other items we needed before the baby arrived that it completely fell off the priority list.
This time my husband and I have been blessed to work together on my content here on Blushing Black, so we have been able to sneak in some time to capture the beauty in this entire process. I’m somewhat sad this journey is about to end soon, but I know on the other side of missing having her close to me is her on the outside just as close to my heart.
In collaboration with Freshly Picked, I’m here to share my heart on why every new mom needs a pair for baby!
As a mom, I always want my girls to wear quality clothes and shoes that are trendy & stylish, but also comfortable and functional! From fabrics to stitching, to easy access for potty to comfort, I am very particular when it comes to what Laila wears. So now that I have another little princess on the way, the approach is no different.
Freshly Picked is a company dedicated to creating quality shoes for kids that were well-designed and would stay on a child’s feet. If you’ve been a mom for long enough, you know the struggle of keeping shoes on your baby’s feet! Gah! For years, I have been a fan of the Freshly Picked brand & the array of styles they offer from infant to full-blown kids, but also the structure & the fact that they don’t slide around or off when worn!
I am smitten over these rose gold moccasins for Baby “Elle” who will be joining us in a few weeks and love the fact that they are beautifully crafted and come with their own dust bag for travel.
Freshly Picked has made its way in the hearts and homes of moms everywhere & truly does an amazing job at bringing colors, patterns, and collaborations that makes us all wish we can get a pair in our size! There’s nothing too good for my girls and Freshly Picked is simply the best!

You can still be pregnant & find cute pieces to cover the important parts.
What I’m Wearing: Top: ASOS Maternity, Leggings: F21, Headwrap: The Wrap Life, Bag: Palais Royale, Shoes: Mossimo
These days I’m leaning on anything that stretches and covers important parts of my body. My jeans have been tossed months ago and switched to all things leggings & dresses. I’m sure I can opt for maternity jeans, but with less than 5 weeks left, investing in jeans just wasn’t on the radar. Regardless, I’ve been excited to find pieces that I love, that are cute, don’t make me look bigger, and don’t take a miracle & prayer to slide into. When I saw this denim top, it screamed “warmer weather” & “OMG it’s so cute!” I had to have it.
I am certainly staying on the hunt only for pieces I love & can wear way after pregnancy, and this top does that!
Finding there’s more beauty in the candid and random moments at home.
My life: it’s always moving, always changing, and always transforming into something more beautiful. At 34, I’m realizing the more I move with the waves, the easier it is to swim. Every morning when I pray, I surrender the entire day to Him & ask for His guidance. Though not perfect & I mess it up soooo many times, the path that is being laid in front of me has been given over to Him – and that approach has proven that surrendering can be a good thing.
Life at home has been amazing. Marriage continues to blow my mind everyday. Laila is growing into her next phase of toddlerhood right on time. We are all excited to meet this little one one the way. It’s a lot to juggle at times. Other times, I let the balls just drop and figure them out later. Balance, y’know.
