I can remember my excitement when I got pregnant three years ago. Being a first time preggy in a tech savvy generation, I googled every day everything I can about pregnancy. Since it was my first time, I became very curious on how it is to be pregnant. From what will happen to my body every month to what to expect during labor, I searched online and read every helpful article that I can find.
Aside from online articles, our generation of moms (and moms to be) is lucky enough to have another form of pregnancy reference, the mobile app. A pregnancy mobile app is an all in one guide about pregnancy where soon-to-be moms can get info about pregnancy, track their due date, log their pregnancy weight and many more.
Pregnancy + by world’s leading mother and childcare brand Philips Avent is a pregnancy app that every expectant mom should have.
Pregnancy + is an application designed to support a healthy full-term pregnancy and a safe delivery that gives expectant parents a comprehensive guide through all stages of pregnancy. This App has been downloaded by 25 million moms worldwide.
Philips Avent understands that more parents are turning to technology to help give expectant moms guidance in their journey. Through the application, Pregnancy +, parents now have instant access right in the palms of their hands – helping them navigate at every life stage their child is currently in, through a mixture of expert advice, real life experiences and brand created content.
“The first 1,000 days are critical to set the stage for their future health and with that even lay a foundation for the health of our society,” said Maite Uy, business development manager, Philips Personal Health. “We understand how overwhelming becoming a parent can be, and we believe it’s important for parents to start their journey with a guide that provides them the right information at the right time,” she added.
Digital Connected Parenting: Everything you need in one pregnancy App
Advancement in both the demands of millennial moms, plus technology, means Pregnancy + is able to create a more personalized digitally connected parenting approach – combining data derived from their most popular baby care products and parent-led input – to produce specific insights for each child, enhanced with recommendations from experts and development specialists.
Pregnancy + gives new parents the confidence of a support and reassurance, 24 hours a day through its features:
– Daily pregnancy info
– Color and Scan images
– Personal Diary
– Pregnancy Weight log
– Doc Visits log
– Diet, exercise and labor info
– Kick Counter
– Contraction Timer
– Contraction Tracker
– Baby Shopping list
– 1000s of Baby names
– Baby Size Visualizer
– Pregnancy week by week info
– And much more …
The Pregnancy + app is now available as a free download from the Apple and Google Play stores in the Philippines.
Want to know one of my weaknesses? It’s honestly my inability to do my own make-up. As I don’t want to get stressed whenever I need to attend a social event or a photo shoot, I often opt to seek the help of an expert — the hair and makeup artist aka HMUA. And we moms should agree that it’s rejuvenating to be pampered and beautified by a pro once in a while.
So in case you also don’t want to stress yourself doing your own makeup for an event or you just want to be pampered with a relaxing makeup sesh, let me share my experience with the HMUA I got for one of the photo shoots I attended this year.
Lhiezle Creatives Makeup Artistry, owned by professional makeup artist Lhiezle Garcia, did a great job and gave me a naturally beautiful look.
I loved how the makeup looked natural for an outdoor shoot.
The best part was that my makeup lasted until evening, even when I got all sweaty during the photo shoot.
Lhiezle was also very professional when it comes to service. She came early in the morning for our photo shoot despite the fact that she came from the South and I was from Quezon City. Plus, she had a complete makeup setup that turned our room into a salon.
Lhiezle Creatives Makeup Artistry offers hair and makeup services for special events like weddings and birthdays as well as photo shoots.
The month of May has always been special to me. That’s because I celebrate my birthday in May. But after I gave birth to my daughter, the month of May became even more special. I am now a mother, and my heart beats with glee everytime someone greets me “Happy Mother’s Day!”
Back when I was still a carefree single lady, I knew moms were special and worthy of every appreciation and love on Mother’s Day. But it was only when I became a mom that I realized that moms deserve to be appreciated and loved every single day.
With or without gifts and kisses on Mother’s Day, moms will continue doing what they are naturally made to do — to love their families and give the best for their children. The truth is we are even willing to give any form of Mother’s Day gift to our little ones.
I guess God placed an extra dose of selfless love, patience and understanding when He made moms.
To all moms who give their best for their families, Happy Mother’s Day!
As it knows that baby care is important to all moms, My Baby Philippines is giving one amazing Mom a baby care package this Mother’s Day.
My 2 years of being a mom to Tash brought me back to your decades of motherhood. Somewhere in my sleepless nights and other mommy challenges, I remember a young version of you going through the exact same things I’m now going through. I saw you patiently wait for me to pee on the potty. I saw you trying hard to feed me as I was a terrible picky eater. I saw how you calmly took care of me whenever I got sick. I saw how you managed time giving your best in your career while giving your all as a loving mom and wife.
Watching how you gracefully did things made motherhood look so easy and stress-free. In my eyes, you’re the Super Mom who had everything I needed and had all the solutions to my little problems. It was like nothing could go wrong when you were around.
Motherhood looked so easy….until the day I became a Mom. In the middle of pregnancy and childbirth pains, breastfeeding aches, toddler tantrums, working mom challenges, household chores and many more, I must admit I feel tired, restless and incapable. Certainly, adulting is hard. Yes even at 32, I sometimes wish that when things go wrong, I can just cry and run to you and you’ll hug and carry me just like you used to when I was in pain as a little girl.
But though you can’t carry me anymore when I feel bad, I’m thankful you prepared me to face life’s challenges positively. I remember when I was 8 years old, I woke up to a hand written note that said “Do your best and God will do the rest.” I was about to take my quarterly exams that day and you had to leave early in the morning for your corporate trip so you left a random sweet message by my bed, a sweet message that stayed in my heart and mind forever.
“Do your best and God will do the rest.” Your message guided me not only in that quarterly test in school but even more in life. It has been my source of strength and solace in every challenging day of adulthood. It has been my motto as a young parent trying to get by one day at a time.
Now I’m beginning to understand how you made motherhood look so easy and stress free. It’s not because you didn’t experience the pains, the hardships and challenges of motherhood. It’s not because you were a superwoman who had extraordinary powers. You were an ordinary mother who experienced the pains, the aches, and challenges of a mom just like me. Yet out of great love for your family, you did your best to be the best for all of us. And your faith helped you gracefully surrender to the Lord the things that your “best” could no longer handle.
Thank you for your wisdom, Mom. It’s a gift I’ll forever cherish. Thank you for being the best mom to me and my brothers, the best wife to Dad and the best Amma to Tash and her cousins.
“Where are we going today, Mommy?” This is Tash’s favorite line nowadays. Since I officially became a WAHM (work at home mom, nax!), we’ve been lakwatsa buddies — from swimming lessons to grocery shopping. And since the two of us can’t go hungry while stuck in traffic or while waiting for our turn, I always bring a #pabaongpagmamahal called Lemon Square Cheese Cake. This healthy snack is made with real and fresh eggs and milk. Plus, it’s conveniently packed so it’s easy to bring anywhere we go. #lemonsquarecheesecake
Get to know the story behind this successful Filipino brand.
Every recipe has a story to tell. For Nina Vergel de Dios or “Mommy Nina”, the woman behind the all-time favorite pabaon snack Lemon Square Cheese Cake, the tale of her signature product was inspired by a mom’s love.
Mommy Nina’s love for baking was sparked by the bond she and her mother had when she was young. She recalls helping out her mother in the kitchen to bake at the age of nine. It was since then she got fond of baking and continued to hone her skills by attending culinary and baking classes as she grew up. She also sold some of her baked goods to family and friends for extra allowance when she was in high school.
Being successful is a ‘piece of cake’
For quite some time, Mommy Nina distanced herself from baking to take a different career path. But with the encouragement and support of her husband Errol, she left her corporate job to pursue her first love, baking.
In 1985, Mommy Nina returned to her small home kitchen in Valenzuela and began selling her cheese cakes in the wet markets of Malabon and Navotas. Through the positive comments of resellers, word spread about her cheese cake until it reached other markets.
Three decades later, Lemon Square Cheese Cake became a household name that answers the need of Moms to provide filling, delicious and nutritious pabaon for their children.
The value of ‘Pabaong Pagmamahal’
Lemon Square Cheese Cake credits its success to the value of pabaong pagmamahal. Made with real and fresh ingredients, it assures moms that theirs kids have something good to snack on when they’re in school or enjoying other activities.
“We’ve always been inspired by Moms and their desire to give the best for their children. That’s why we ensure that all our products are made with fresh ingredients,” shares EJ Vergel de Dios, son of Mommy Nina and Assistant General Manager and Chief Innovations Officer of Lemon Square.
“With Lemon Square Cheese Cake as a siksik cupcake pabaon, moms never have to worry that their kids will be hungry at school. It’s also conveniently packed so that moms do not need to worry about preparing their kids’ baon,” he adds.
Give your children #PabaongPagmamahal with Lemon Square Cheese Cake. For more information about Lemon Square Cheese Cake, visit www.lemonsquare.com.ph or LIKE Lemon Square on Facebook.

From April to July, REP is holding its annual summer series of intensive courses in Performing Arts, ranging from basic to advanced, allowing everyone the chance to shine under the spotlight. With its 52-year track record of artistic excellence, REP has trained and honed the very best theater talents in the country.
The first batch of workshops runs from April 22 until June 8, while the second round starts June 10 to July 19, and will be facilitated by some of the country’s most outstanding thespians and practitioners. All classes will be held from Monday to Friday at the Active Fun Building, Bonifacio Global City, Taguig.
Get your kids to lift their heads from their gadget screens, learn new skills, and enjoy some good times with newfound friends by enrolling them in the Kiddie Classes for children aged 4 to 8 years old, the Pre-Teens Class for kids 9 to 12 years old, or the Teens Class for 13 to 16-year old students.
For those who have acting experience and want to take their theater skills to the next level, you are invited to audition for REP’s Junior Masterclass, an intensive seven-week workshop for performers aged 12-18. At the end of this workshop, students will be performing in an all-new musical to be conducted by award-winning actor and director Joel Trinidad and Nicky Triviño, the only Filipino to have joined the 2018 Lincoln Center Director’s Lab in New York City.
Participants aged 17 and older may sign up for the Adults Class, under the tutelage of respected stage veteran Meynard Peñalosa, to help tap into their creative side and discover how performing skills can have a positive impact on their daily lives or personal development. For those seriously considering a career in theater, the Adults Masterclass is an acting program designed to expose participants to advanced acting principles and skills. Join the class to be facilitated by seasoned stage actor and director Jeremy Domingo from June 10 to July 19.
Another exciting workshop opening this summer is the Triple Threat Masterclass. The program uses a musical theater syllabus that teaches breathing techniques to better handle the strenuous training of acting, singing and dancing, with a ballet, jazz and tap foundation. The class also has added training in hip hop and flamenco, and production work. Running from April 22 to June 8, Monday to Friday, the Triple Threat Masterclass will be held at 188 A. Mabini St., Addition Hills, San Juan, Rizal and will be taught by triple threat Maricar Aragon.
The REP Workshop for the Performing Arts trains participants in all aspects of musical theater including singing, acting, and dancing; alongside instilling habits of self-discipline, developing the imagination, and enhancing self-confidence. On the 7th week, students will be showcasing the theater skills they’ve gained in a culminating production to be staged at the Onstage Theater in Greenbelt. Workshop enrollment fees are at P10,000, except for the Adults Masterclass which is at P12,000.
