Have you seen this single skein wedding ring shawl, which is light enough to fit through the middle of a ring? This is knit from a skein of Toronto’s Americo Original Abrazos Yarns and is a great summer knit to bring to the beach or on a flight… and today is on sale from $28 to $19.60!

Americo Yarns’s Abrazos comes in an array of bright and classic colours, and we just restocked on all available colourways!
Composition: 44.7 % Pima Cotton, 55.3 % Bamboo
Gauge: 42 stitches & 53 rows = 4 inches (10 cm)
Needle: 2 mm (US 0)
Length: 100 g / 1028 yards (940 m)
$28/skein THIS WEEKEND ONLY $19.60!
One of our best sellers over the years for the summer months is the classic Sirdar Snuggly Baby Bamboo. A great blend of bamboo and wool in so many bright happy colours makes it a joy to work with and wear!
The last few days of spring already hint at a hot hot season ahead, so to celebrate next weekend’s start of summer we will be hosting a SALE of all yarns in store and online that are made of cool fibre for great summer knits: all yarn and fibre with silk, cotton, bamboo or blends will be 30% off from Friday June 21st to Sunday June 23rd. Check out all yarns and fibres included in the sale here and be sure to stock up for your summer knitting!
Something has started to roost at Baaad Anna’s recently and it was the addition of Hue Loco‘s Backyard Chickens sets! Have you heard of these amazing yarn sets that are inspired by the colours found in chicken breeds of urban farmer?
These sets present many colour combinations not often seen in knitting yarn but as they are inspired by nature, they work perfectly together. And Hue Loco has a magical talent at drawing so many nuances of colours into a single string that it is a pleasure to watch it slip through your hands when working up.
Each set comes with a 100g skein in a main colour as well as two coordinating 20g skeinettes for all your colourwork pleasure! Socks are the most obvious way to use these sets but a simple shawl with an allowance for a few good colour pops would work as well and Alicia Plummer specifically designed her Downhome Shawl to work specifically with Hue Loco’s Backyard Chicken sets!
And if you are still on the fence as to whether you need a chicken in your life, just keep an eye on the news…

We had an awesome Mid-Island Baaadass British Columbia Roadtrip earlier in the month covering mileage from Ucluelet on the West Coast right up to Campbell River on the Georgia Straight, and now we are packing up the van again for a revisit to the Okanagan and Kootenays for the latter half of this year’s trip!
If you’re in the Selkirk, Castlegar, Rossland, Grand Forks, Osoyoos, Oliver, Penticton or Okanagan area please check out and share our events listings on Facebook with any in the yarny community. We will be bringing yarn and fibre that is not otherwise available locally, and hope to meet you on our travels. We will share a Roadtrip Roundup post with all of our stops upon our return in mid-June. Happy travels!

Check out this amazing use of 4lt milk containers to upcycle into pretty, pretty spring bloom hanging baskets. This was created for Mother’s Day at my youngest’s daycare… isn’t it lovely?
Another wonderful way to upcycle is to get your knit on today from 1-3pm at our monthly Give Back Sunday event. As always we have a variety of donated upcycled yarn to use, some treats, and the event is free of charge. The one thing we ask is that the price of entry is that you start or work on a project you are creating for a recipient in need of a fibre arts gift.
Have you entered to win our skein of Mama Mia, the limited edition Wollmeise colourway made for Mother’s Day? You can do so by signing up for our Knit Fast Die Warm eNewsletter as all subscribers will be entered in for a draw that will happen at the end of day Sunday.
We have just dropped our 3rd edition of our monthly eNews with updates on Yarn Tastings and Yarny Roadtripping. Join us to work together to strengthen your knitty community whether you call home near or far! Subscribe today!!
And we will continue putting local and timely content on this blog as well geared for our more local community to not miss sales, events and other updates of interest!
We returned from our Mid-Island Roadtrip and brought back with us the works of a lovely maker of yarn bowls, Lavender Lampworks and Pottery, just in time for that special Mother’s Day treat!
Hailing from the Comox Valley, artist Judy Gadicke specializes in Italian glasswork and beads and also has a design eye for pottery. We met her at the Vancouver Island Fibre Fest last weekend and fell for her heart-shaped yarn bowl as well as her traditional ones with star-shaped cut outs.
If you’re in need to pampering this weekend, or know a fibre artist mom in your life that needs celebrating stop by in store to check out our extensive collection.
