As you know I am in year 10, the last year of fooling around before GCSEs. Well, I have to stop fooling around and start studying now; which is proving a challenge because I don’t know how and I don’t know when. Generally, I am busy after school most days or I am just very drained emotionally and physically. I do alot of hardcore thinking in alot of my lessons which I don’t know why but I do. Which isn’t doing me any good because it just increases my stress levels.
In three weeks or so the year 11s will be doing their GCSEs and next week there is a language exam. I have in a few weeks time a Maths mock which I want to start revising for I just don’t know when. But I was thinking of staying after school on the days I have a music centre group and just studying. Last Maths mock I didn’t do very well, partly because I got very nervous. Honestly, I want to do more studying but it’s just my friendship group is really split and I don’t go on the group chat alot so I miss alot, so if I start spending less time I will just never get what is going on. Also, the only place where I can study is the Library but at lunch, it is just another social area.
I have been reading just not alot for my pleasure. For example, in the Easter holidays, I read Inspector Goole again for English and then I re-read Looking for Alaska because I love a good John Green book. I have been drawing alot and crocheting and writing in my journal which I am really proud of.
What Have Been Watching On Netflix?
I have not had alot of opportunities to watch movies, I really want to watch a Studio Ghibli Film or a good indie film, which I recommend Amazon Prime video for indie films and French films. But I have been watching friends I am on season 3 and That 70s Show I am on season 4. Recently I finished a k-drama called Oh My Venus which was just a romance which never happens. Netflix released a movie called The Perfect Date which I watched for the cringe of teenage romance. Just to remind me how single I am *throws a peace sign*
On Spotify, I have been listening to alot of Japanese city pop and classical music. Just in case you didn’t know I play oboe and alto saxophone on a very serious level. I go to a junior conservator eg. JRCM or JRNCM or JRA( there is plenty more). So I have a love for music so listening to classical music is really good for your playing. Normally I just listen to Joe Hisashi who does most of studio Ghibli OSTs but over easter, I listened to Madeline Dring which I highly recommend. She does alot of intimate pieces and an oboe player some of the songs I want to play are by her. For Jazz, listening to Japanee 70s/80s or just type in city pop. The improvisations on some of these tracks are amazing; I would give names how do you copy Japanese?
For Youtube, I got into a David Dobrick again. But I discovered a channel called TwoSetViolin which is a duo who play the classical violin so they just review the musical memes and doing funny musical skits.
I really typed alot, I know I don’t post often but I hope when I do it is actually interesting.Anyway enough for me
Happy new year, Merry Christmas ( it’s never too late to say this). I know i haven’t been consistent but I guess I just post when I want because it’s my little space on the internet. I am sorry, hopefully, you have missed me probably not.
Ok so I officially have given up on Tumblr because I made a new account and I can’t get into it which is great so I am really sorry but yeah. I guess I to aesthetic for Tumblr haha. But just because Tumblr gave up on me does not mean I gave up on the internet I found something else to do… Pinterest. I am on a full grind, pinning everywhere and anywhere, slowly tidying up my boards as I go because I have had that Pinterest account for too long before you have sub-boards. OG member right here.
Also, my internet has been absolutely rubbish for months now because TalkTalk thinks that making the route break six months before the contract runs out will make us get another contract. No. My internet is so bad that I had to move my laptop downstairs and physically connect to the internet, which means no more late night movie sessions I actually have to go to bed. With my great Wifi, I have had to use more of my data which 3GB so for the past few months I have been running low or running out a week before I get a new set. Anyway on February the 8th we are switching to BT it would have Virgin but virgin doesn’t have lines in my area (yet).
Art-wise I feel like I can’t draw anything but I am still drawing because I think its just a phrase. Netflix has been mine new best friends I am currently watching call the midwife, That 70s show, Riverdale, Something in the rain and Oh my venus. I have basically binged watch Call the Midwife I am halfway through season 3. Recently on Netflix, they added my childhood favourite movie About a boy I had the movie on VHS. If you haven’t watched it go get yourself some tea preferably herbal and watch it.
We finally have another book review. It’s been a long time and I need to return to the roots of my blog. So today I am going to be reviewing another amazing novel by E. Lockhart. If you didn’t know E. Lockhart novel is what inspired my blog name, that novel was We Were Liars. If you haven’t read that book I would highly recommend it.
What a brain twister. Genuine Fraud just like We Were Liars, is a novel that makes you think of the words on the page. How the horizontal links with the vertical. You can’t glance or mindlessly read this book, or you will not understand the story. It’s meant to make you think. Genuine Fraud is a well-told story, it’s an absolutely gripping novel full of surprises from the start to the end.
The book is about two girls who have grown up very differently. Jule West Williams is a young girl who comes from Alabama. She has been raised by her aunt “in a home that is not a home”. Jule is Stamford drop-out and a gym alcoholic. Imogen Sokoloff is an orphan who as raised by a rich Jewish family. She knows she is beautiful and rich which she uses to control people around. Imogen and Jule went to the same high school for a few years until Jule was kicked out. The girl’s lives are put together and it’s as if they are one person. Who is Who?
“An intense friendship. A disappearance. A murder, or maybe two. A bad romance, or maybe three”- Genuine Fraud
The book is told in the third person. This third person is what E. Lockhart uses to craft and weave Imogen and Jule together. Every time you think you have fingered out who the third person is talking about something is thrown in to confuse you again. The book is confusing and it’s the point. I wouldn’t say there is a start and finish because the story starts in the middle of the drama. The best to describe Genuine Fraud is someone getting the original copy and mixing up the pages and calling that the story.
Personally, I enjoyed having to think about how this events to link what I have just read. I would not read this book before going to bed because you will spend the whole night thinking about it. E. Lockhart has written a wonderful thriller novel. It really is amazing. This is not your classic “someone got murdered who did it”. While reading the book, I really thought that the third person was the one who had done the murder and was trying to blame it on the girls. If you it properly I think you will be able to know who was murdered and how. It took 3 weeks to finish Genuine Fraud and I normally read books in 2 weeks. It’s worth the time though if you want to enjoy the story. I found myself reading a lot of pages because you can’t move on without half understanding because you will not get the next pages it’s how it works. The reason why people would give this negative review, is at times it is very “confusing”, and I feel like that is the wrong word because it’s not. Genuine Fraud requires thought and not a glance. It’s not an easy read. It’s not a book that read quickly to get of rid some of the weight on your Goodreads challenge. Which to mention I am 28 books behind on my 40-book challenge; mainly my fault for not logging any of my books on Goodreads and spending summer watching Call the Midwife instead of reading. When reading I hate both characters because I felt that none of them was content with what they have got. Also, I personally hate Imogen Sokoloff, in my opinion, she was presented as a spoiled brat.
You can’t run away from your lies and problems
That is what I think the message of Genuine Fraud is
My favourite of reviewing books is recommending books you can read if you read this. So, if you read Genuine Fraud I think you should read the books on the side.
Recently I finished making my indie playlist 2.0. A few posts ago I posted my indie playlist, which was alot of songs from that playlist. Each playlist consists of 100 songs indie tunes. I like to separate my indie tunes from my kpop, Jazz, Classical tunes. So now I am making my Indie Playlist 2.1. If you want to see the whole playlist I would recommend following me on Spotify @septbaby1. Also, I am slowing getting into SoundCloud, which if you are a musician I think SoundCloud is a great way to appreciate smaller artists. Also, there are more indie tunes on there.
This is just a very small portion of my playlist. I have linked up top the playlist. Here I am linking my SoundCloud, which only contains one playlist called ‘I like it’
If you have spotify accounts link them below or any good songs leave them in the comments anyway have a good week because I am posting this on a Sunday. School is a dangerous place to keep safe and have many internet friends
It is the eve before I turn 5teen. I completed the bucket list a few days ago, it kept me very busy and get my mind off the school year coming. Yesterday our timetables came out and my friends are only in my maths. Which for me, it means either I am going to have new friends or be a loner. Which that will be decided for me by the people in the classes. My mum said there will be someone like me, hopefully, there will be.
I am going to doing all the subjects I will be doing for GSCE for the second year because I started all of them except triple science and English. Furthermore, I spent this summer learning some of the English poems anyway and I really like some of the poems like London by William Blake and Remains by Simon Armitage. This summer I tried to enjoy it because I know that all of my holidays I am going to be revising until the end of the GSCE. I read alot of tips for school and studying from youtube and the student room. Something to mention is that if you are going to do GSCE get a student room account because every time I have anxiety about GSCEs I go into forums and just read what people are thinking and feeling and it calms me down a lot. Also, I bought some new stationary and sorted out my pencil case. I mainly bought black gel pens in 0.5/0.38 because in year 9 I tried a lot of pens. I found that using ballpoint and gel pens are the best for me. I didn’t buy any highlights or coloured pens because they haven’t run out yet.
This summer I have also watched a lot of studio ghibli movies and listened to alot of the soundtracks. Which is the most calming and aesthetic pleasing thing to do. Studio Ghibli was some of the animations I grew up on and still grow up on. If everyone watched Princess Mononoke global warming wouldn’t be a problem. I also recently watched Your name which came up when I typed studio ghibli in amazon prime video. Which if you don’t have because it is better for movies than Netflix in my opinion. Anyway I don’t your name is produced by Studio Ghibli but it still a good film. It’s a film that makes you think and it doesn’t tell why the characters are like that you have to figure out that. It is an interesting movie and I would highly recommend it.
I know this post is really random but I just thought I should post this on my blog
I got a new tumblr account. I have linked them all now in the social bars on the side. Feel free to message me.
You know its the holidays when I am blogging. I have a week off and like i say every time i am going to try and do 2 posts.
So i spent my saturday night, searching my pinterst for 90s movies i haven’t watched. And i came across 10 things i hate about you. The cast look so good looking and it seemed like a movie i would and should watch.
So i searched youtube because i wasn’t using my legs to go downstaries and search netflix or amazon prime for it. So i searched youtube and obviously i found it. It wasn’t the best quality but it adds to the 90s vibe. I hate my blanket round me and my milkshake. I spent the whole gussing, saying ” dear future boyfreind be like him” , “where is my connor?” ” Why do i not go to a high school like that” “why i am not more like that” “found my movie twin”
The movie is really good. I loved it and i watched it twice on the same day. I would tell what it is about but then it ruin your experience. But the fashion in this movie is a one. They look so good. It is really funny, definetly a movie that you watch with your bestmates. The soundtrack is also good. It has one of my favourite 90s bands letters to cleo. After watching the movie I would go listen to the soundtrack on spotify;because it is so good.
if you watch the movie let me know. Also my tumblr account is terminated for some reason and i don’t know when i will be getting it back. So please don’t message me on there just message me on my twitter for the time been.
