Everyone is talking about Yoga Booty, but why are we not talking about Yoga Belly??

In this practice, take some time to connect to your center by breathing into and sending loving awareness to this very important area of the body.

Learn to reside in the role of the observer and hop on the mat for this special Yoga Belly practice!

Our relationship to our belly needs some love, it needs some real work. It’s going to take us being brave enough, kind enough, bold enough to slip back into the role of the observer to notice our thoughts and words and how they make us feel.

Ring out the internal organs with some gentle twisting and elongate the front body.

Lower stress levels and reduce blood pressure with deep, diaphragmatic breathing, also known as belly breathing.

This practice serves as an invitation to check in and see how your thoughts about your body, specifically the belly, make you feel.

Time for a break! Yoga to Slow Your Roll is here to support you in finding ease, a little grace, and some well deserved softness. Join me and relax.

There is this tendency to focus on the hard and fast hustle in today’s world because of this it’s more important than ever to retain a willingness and the ability to slow down. It’s not always easy to do, but we heal and regenerate when we rest. Mind and body. We feel better when we take time to move slow and be still. Tap into the parasympathetic nervous system and invite the body to find a peaceful homeostasis.

This practice allows you to relax the weight of the body. It invites you to wring out a little stress. Bring your attention back to you.

Suggested Prop: 1 or 2 blankets. (A towel works too!)

Through the monthly curated playlist and calendar we took the time to consider our motivations and the continued dialogue we have ourselves. Now we are taking all that love and acceptance and tapping into our power.

This month is an opportunity to embrace our power, not forgetting the lessons learned on the mat in June, but taking those tools of self love and self acceptance with us, as we get strong and fit in the most loving way.

I am inviting EVERYONE to tune in on Friday 6/21 and practice together. This year on International Yoga Day, we celebrate the importance and value of connecting to yourself and recognize how that influences the way you connect to others.

Here’s how it works.

On Friday, June 21st, 2019, roll out your mat at home and practice along with the Up Your Connect practice. This free practice is found on both the YouTube channel and on the FWFG Yoga membership.

Then share a video or image and tag it with #fwfgiyd. It can be a picture of you or maybe a video of your practice. Be sure to include where you are from too so we can see how yoga connects us around the world.

The magic of these coordinated practices is knowing that whenever you are practicing someone else is practicing alongside you in their own home too.

This free practice, Up Your Connect, is already on the YouTube channel and on the membership for members, and anyone can participate from their own home by simply rolling out their mat and following the Up Your Connect practice anytime on Friday, June 21st. Don’t worry about the timezones. Just roll out your mat on June 21st and know that somewhere around the world someone else is practicing with you in spirit.

Many practices trigger a process that heats the body so it is important to remember to take time to also cultivate practices that cool and replenish the body. This will have an effect on your energy and on the mind – to help guide you back to a healthy present state of being.

I met Sonia (Sonia Gil, founder of Fluenz) a year ago in what, at the time, essentially felt like a blind lead.

We prioritized the learning, a way of going with the flow… but also a principle I quickly recognized we both share and advocate for. “Just show up,” you know? What I didn’t know is that in less than a year’s time I would be hosting people from all over the world with my new Venezuelan comrades in Mexico City.

I could have never guessed that I would get to work with some of the smartest and kindest people I’ve met to date. People who are patient, creative, and passionate about life. And what I should have guessed is that it would attract people who would show up to learn – only to teach me a great deal… and open my heart.

We are all students.

We are all teachers.

We are all leaders.

We are all followers. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Without taking the time to look at yourself, it will be impossible to truly see another. Particularly someone who doesn’t look like your reflection or speak your main language.

I love this picture for many reasons, but mostly because it makes me think about how important it is for us to take a look at the past and intentionally bridge worlds in the present to influence and contribute to the future.

If you have ever had an inkling to politely pause the rigamarole to learn more about yourself – come play. It turns out that it is true: Our differences melt away when we actively find things that unite us.
