It's Monday Rush and I just got this interesting news from Royce Hotel that I'm glad to share to all. There's a saying that "It's better late than never" and that late info of mine is about the treat of Royce Hotel offering Dads something to enjoy this whole month of June.  Something that our Dads will love together with the whole family. But before that let me share some info that you will know about Dads.

As we move in this fast-paced environment and changing world, we commonly portray our Dads in different stiff views. From being the stereotyped necktie-wearing bread-winners of the family to the strict disciplinarians or up to the emotionally detached parents whose love language is providing financial and materials needs for the family, but still he is the Dad of the family.

Now, like everything else, the Father Figure of before has now evolved into Father Figure 2.0. The new generation Dads are now very much involved when it comes to caring for their children. Showing emotions, being vulnerable and hands-on with raising the kids are now socially acceptable norms. From playing basketball with his son to braiding his little girl’s hair, a Dad will always be there for his children.

Whether you have a first generation Dad or a Father Figure 2.0, what’s important is showing them how thankful you are and how much you appreciate them for being the pillar in your life. Celebrate Dads every Friday night of June #OnlyAtRoyce!

Partake in the sumptuous Father’s Day Feast at the Lounge on June 7, 14, 21 and 28. Buffet starts at 6pm. For only Php1,360 you’ll have a feast for two (2) and FREE for Dad. Additional charge per person is Php680, Php 340 for kids 4-12 years of age.

For inquiries and reservations, call +63 917 150 0276, +63 917 499 7888, or +63 45 499 7888.

Our Monday Rush, announcing the winner of the Binibining Pilipinas 2019. Yup, this Dad is not only a dad who loves anime but also loves beauty. Plus I also need to get it out first for my other blog which is the KwentoNiToto.com. Because of that I need to stay up very very late just to get the winners of the pageant and fortunately I was able to get it out. Posted it!

The end effect sleepy head and woke up late.

Well, I don't know why but it seems that other than basketball and boxing, beauty pageant is the next thing that will really make most of the Filipino stop, be still and watch it happens. The only problem was that it was aired late in the evening and take note it's on a Sunday, so I think most Pinoys who would go to the office are just like me sleepy and groggy. More sleep please.

Anyway on another topic since we slept almost 2AM, my wife woke up late and prepared late for our youngest son. When she brought him in school a cute and wittingly conversation between our son and his teacher.

Gelo and my wife went to his room. Teacher was already there.

Gelo : Good morning Ma'am.(late already)
Teacher : Sorry I'm late. (referring for Gelo to add the line)
Gelo : You're late Ma'am!

My wife grinned her face because of the conversation with Gelo unaware of his wittiness.

While it is raining Toni Gonzaga did her number together with her son Seve of which made the number really interesting, especially when Toni's voice goes soprano with his son. Anyway what's more inspiring is what moms does for the family.

Hi Moms, Dads and Kids who loves toys! Yes, our Friday Toys segment is back and it was really a long... long... long hiatus. There are plenty of reasons why I haven't posted anything about our toy review section but I'm finally back and here sharing you what we just recently have.

Kids are growing really fast and I didn't noticed that they be needing more toys and play stuff that I don't have time to do the review of every toy that we acquire in the past months or rather years. To make up with that we'll be doing it regularly now. Plus, my kids will be helping me about it, specially my little Gelo who has his own Facebook Page and YouTube Channel "Playfull Gelo".

So what do we have today, well, this one was bought a few weeks ago together with their school shoes. It's the well known toy for challenges, the Pie Face. Yes we'll be sharing our thoughts with this toy.

Pie Face is commonly seen on different youtube channels that does challenges because this one is an interesting toy that will smack the whip cream unto your face. It's a messy toy but a great game to pass time around, especially during rainy season.

Contents are

1 Pie Thrower
1 Throwing Arm
2 Handles,
1 Chin Rest
1 Double-Sided Splash-Card mask
1 Spinner,
Game Rules
1 connector (in case you connect two or more pie face)

So how does it works? You need to put whip cream on the pie thrower, set it by pulling down the thrower to lock. Then you need to spin the arrow (don't have a pic of it here) to get the number you need to turn the handles. Lucky if that didn't release the pie thrower but unlucky if it does. So that's how simple it is but what's interesting is the excitement of turning the handles not knowing when will the pie thrower with whip cream will hit your face.

You can watch it also presented by my son, Gelo on his FB Page Playfull Gelo.

Our rate for this toy: 5/5 Thumbs Up

Aside from our toy review today, I'll be sharing also about my experience last year. It's a check on one of my bucketlist "be seen on TV' hahaha. Yup I was seen on TV nationwide. I was part of the weekly show in the Kapuso Network, the Pop Talk. If you know the show, it's a show that visits restaurants and establishments and rate it but they do this with their three guests. They are the one who gives rate, and gladly I was one of them. The establishment that we visited were Toy warehouses. Since that time is near the Christmas season and toy sales are in need.

It was a whole day experience. An interesting part of my life that I may boast around. I don't want to go much into details but will just share here the clips of the show. So enjoy!

PopTalk: 'JS Philippines Global Corp.' a toy warehouse that offers sale up to 70% - YouTube

PopTalk: Affordable quality toys at 'Edeng's Toy Center' - YouTube

PopTalk: Big discounts on branded toys at 'Richprime Global Inc.' - YouTube

PopTalk: Final verdict for three toy stores - YouTube

This will be part of my resume. hahaha! Hope you enjoyed it!

Great day Dads, Moms and of course the kids! You'd better bear with me as I'll be sharing a very long info from one of our friends in the publishing industry. This is really a long post because we will be including the whole press info about measuring the Holistic Development of a Learner and it is followed that it is an indicator knowing that the learner is a Whole Child. So continue to read down below to get some insights about it.

We live in the 21st century, and its conditions of living are getting more complicated with each new change that comes into play. The way we approach problems and try to provide sustainable to meet the demands of our changing world has paced up, given how the global stage now requires a new approach to education that can fully prepare students for going to college, pursuing their careers, and fulfilling their roles as citizens of our nation. With the Whole Child approach, we believe that every young Filipino learner has a chance to be developed and prepared for the challenges and opportunities that lay ahead.

In this article, we discuss how holistic development for every learner can be checked and assessed with the use of indicators and the components that match each of their categories. Through these, the corresponding matches provide a glance of how each tenet can be grounded through indicators. All these are based on the basic tenets of the Whole Child approach which ensures that each student is healthy, safe, engaged, supported, and challenged. Further, we look into the sustainability of each standard in terms of how it comprehensively improves the whole community.

Every school must sustain a culture that supports and reinforces the health and well-being of each student. This extends to each school's health education curriculum and instruction support being designed to prioritize and reinforce the push towards a healthy learning environment, not just in terms of physical health, but also with the mental, emotional, and social dimensions of health. This means that each component of health is integrated into the holistic approach: lifelong achievements are supported through adequate knowledge of basic fitness, positive attitudes and behaviors, and basic life skills that promote a healthy balance for young learner's developing minds and bodies. Having a healthy environment, in this sense, should also comprise of well-integrated professional development and assessment practices that help support and address the health needs of everyone in the learning community: from teachers, to the staff members, to parents, and to the young learners themselves. This means having, setting, and aspiring to reach realistic health goals for students and school staff that are built on accurate data and sound science: from healthy eating patterns to food safety and nutrition, to routine food services and special programs for students and staff.

A safe environment means a happy and positive environment for learning. When we consider the school as a learning environment, the first thing that comes to mind is how it is built and designed with the learner's safety as its priority. The grounds, playground equipment, vehicles, and details of the internal and external spaces of the school must be secure and must meet all established safety and environmental standards. The structures must be well-built, with good flowing spaces for walking and adequate spaces for vehicles like bicycles and other automotives. The school must also bear in mind the needs of those who are physically challenged: properly placed ramps and holding rails must be made and polished without defects. With these physical safety measures in place, the definition of safety can now be extended with further indicators that help build a space where students can feel valued, respected, and cared for. Every school that aspires to create a holistic learning environment must take into account that the behavioral and social aspects of development are also important in providing a safe space for young learners. Practicing social-emotional skills like effective listening, conflict resolution, problem solving, personal reflection and responsibility, and ethical decision making helps shape the way young learners develop their perspectives of the world and the community around them.

Learning in a rapidly changing world can be complicated, and one thing that runs through a holistic learning environment is this: connection. Broader and stronger connections between a student, the school, and the whole community that they live with is key to creating and sustaining active learning strategies and new modes of cooperative learning and project-based learning. This helps schools offer and provide a range of opportunities for every young learner to contribute to and learn within the community at large: from service learning to internships with industry partners, apprenticeships with renowned professionals in a young learner's chosen field, to civic and social volunteering projects that widen a young learner's awareness of the world around them. With the wider awareness brought about by these initiatives, young learners can now begin to be active citizens, voicing their concerns over problems that bear a relevance to their local situations and further reflect on the changing needs of a global world. When a young learner knows how their decisions resonate with the world at large, they begin making more responsible decisions that help them throughout their lives.

Personalizing learning means growing a set of strategic goals tailored for each student, one that foresees the outcomes of how a student will progress with a framework for decision-making that is based not only on what the future demands from each learner, but also on what each student's potential can bring forward, as shaped by a holistic approach to education. With the Whole Child approach, supporting a student means balancing the academic and social goals in such a way that a young learner's formative years are spent with as much freedom and fun as possible, one that promotes their growth in all aspects of life. From curricular, instructional, and school improvement decisions to the management of student performance information, every school that aspires to create a holistic learning environment must take into account how their respective school's vision and mission reflect with their policies and goals. These ideas must be communicated properly and shared as guiding values that help propel everyone forward.

The way we create what we teach is as important as how we serve them to young learners. A school that aspires towards the holistic development of every learner must make an effort to ensure that every student receives a challenging and comprehensive curriculum that covers all content areas needed for 21st century learning. Aside from having a wide-ranging curriculum, a school must also provide opportunities for young learners to hone their capacity for critical thinking and reasoning, two skills that help improve their problem-solving competency and proficiency when it comes to interacting with technology. By exposing students to worthwhile experiences like community-based programs for extra-curricular and co-curricular activities, schools provide them with hands-on knowledge that become relevant as they transition to higher education, to their respective careers, and towards their roles as citizens of a nation moving forward.

SUSTAINABILITY

To make sure that a school's integration with the Whole Child approach remains sustainable in the long run, we must foster collaboration and coordination. Implementation is key, and the way we gather data and analyze its different factors weighs in on how we decide for our learning communities. As decision-makers in the field of education, the role of professional development for school administrators, school staff, and teachers cannot be neglected. It must be individualized in the same way that the Whole Child approach creates individualized efforts to sustain a young learner's needs. Schools following the Whole Child approach must regularly review whether they are still aligned with the policies and practices promoted with the initiative to push holistic learning forward: to sustain health, safety, engagement, support, and challenge for every young Filipino learner. With organization in mind, schools must also strive to connect with local communities and agencies that foster the young learner's capacities, helping each other meet specific goals for students through active collaboration and coordinated intervention.

A NOTE FOR THE FUTURE

By sharing and opening this new approach to everyone from the students, to their families, and the schools and communities that shape their learning environment, we hope that today's students can be better equipped and improved to take on the challenges of living with the radical changes that the 4th industrial revolution has brought about. With this transition from a previously myopic focus on what is loosely considered as "academic achievement" to one that promotes the long-term development and success of every young learner, the Whole Child approach aims to support educators, families, community members, industry leaders, and policymakers to change the way they think about education through sustainable and collaborative action.

For Moms and Dads, this is event of Baby Company is one great news. Not only that Child Safety is promoted, the good thing is that it is imposed through RA 11229, the Child Safety in Motor Vehicle Act. This is where parents should practice it for the safety of the children.

Baby Company, the Philippines leading baby store, launches Baby Company Buckle Up Baby, the biggest child car seat caravan in SM Mall of Asia campaigns the passing of the law and actually going through the caravan by sharing, supporting, promoting and informing the public about this law, the Republic Act. 11229, the Child Safety in Motor Vehicles Act.

The enacted law seeks to protect children whenever they are brought into a motor vehicle. It is in response to the increasing number of child fatalities due to vehicular accidents. The Department of Health, released its notes indicating that vehicular accidents are now the second leading cause of death among children ages 0 to 17 . This is really an alarming figures and an escalating situation with an increasing number of vehicles on the road.

The Child Safety in Motor Vehicles Act clearly mandates two main thing
  • The mandatory use of appropriate child restraint system.
  • No children under 12 years old should be placed in the front seat.
It's great that this new law is being promote to raise awareness. Thanks to Baby Company for spearheading a campaign like this to educate parents and provide a venue to showcase a large number of child car seats. More options for parents to choose from and be safe at the same time.

“It is important that child car seats meet the safety standards and we have partnered with the world’s leading child car seat brands,” said, Cheryl Justiniano, Sr. AVP for Marketing. “Together with Baby Company, we have Aprica, Chicco, Graco, Joie, Maxi-Cosi, and Picolo to showcase their products, and importantly, lend their expertise in choosing and fitting the child car seats,” she added.

It will continue to showcase the importance of child passenger safety and provide parents that chance to choose and get the child car seat that is best for their child.

Cheryl Justiniano added, “Getting a child car seat is not a one-size-fits-all, the child car seat matches a specific age, weight, and length of a child, so it is important that parents have a venue to learn from the experts, even try out the seats before they decide to get one for their child”.

Child car seats follow an established standard to group child car seats to match a child’s age, weight, and length. Group 0 is from birth up to 4-6 years old and with a weight of 0-25kg. Group 1 is from birth up to 12 years old and with a weight up to 36kg. Group 2 is from 9 months to 12 years old and with a weight of 9 to 36kg. And finally, Group 3 is from 4 years old to 12 years old and from 15-36kg. There are child car seats that have combined groupings to allow more options.

Child welfare and safety is now everyone’s priority, especially in motor vehicles. It is the right time to visit Baby Company Buckle Up Baby to choose the right child seat for every child.

Hello Dads, Moms and kids! It's great when we're celebrating events, occasions, and celebrations. For this month of May what else we're going to celebrate none other but the Light of our Home, the Mothers! It's their day!

Jollibee, the Pinoy's pride in the food chain industry, brings an interesting story with their #KwentongJollibee series. This is to honor the strength of all Mother’s out there facing the difficulties in life. I just watched the video and it really made me drop a tear. They really showcased the strengths of moms in all circumstances in life.  Mothers are our strength and with their love for us makes us even more stronger in facing the obstacles of life. From our childhood to adulthood they are there beside us.

From the moment our mothers felt our heartbeat inside their womb, to the first time they see and hold us when we are born, they have made a promise to remain strong and shower us, their children with eternal love and support throughout our life.

Jollibee and their creative agency McCann World Group Philippines honor all loving moms as they release this special Kwentong Jollibee Mother’s Day special that will remind everyone of the power of a mother’s unwavering affection and nurturing love.

This series is directed by Sheron Dayoc, ‘Schoolboy’ follows the story of a young boy as he overcomes his insecurities in his new school and achieves his dream with the help of his mother’s care and encouraging words that gave him the confidence he needed.

“There are many types of love in this world - one we share with friends, relatives, and significant others. But we know that it is the love that we receive from our mothers that make us feel more confident to embrace ourselves,” said Francis Flores, Jollibee Global Brand Chief Marketing Officer and PH Marketing Head.

For a child, there is no greater gift in life than having a mother who is there by their side and cheer them on as they grow up. “This Mother’s Day, we want to showcase the unique bond that a mother and child have and how this encourages the child to love themselves and live their life with a purpose no matter their personal condition,” adds Flores.

As the guiding light of every Filipino household, mothers play an inspiring figure in the life of each member of the family. Last year, Jollibee touched the hearts of netizens with its successful Mother’s Day trilogy - Amor”, “Tess”, and “Helen” - which reached over 27 million views in Facebook and YouTube and touched hearts of over 65.8 million netizens, Jollibee once again celebrates the red-letter day with a new heartwarming Kwentong Jollibee Mother’s Day special.

This year, Jollibee aims to once again shine the spotlight on moms as a fitting tribute to the person who never fails to provide encouragement and support every step of the way. Watch the ‘Schoolboy’ Kwentong Jollibee Mother’s Day special on Jollibee’s official Facebook page at https://www.facebook.com/JollibeePhilippines/videos/2382580938502113/ and YouTube channel: https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=UNDpEUCBYkk&feature=youtu.be.
