Our weekend at Great Wolf Lodge was absolutely magical.  A few weekends ago our family was invited to stay at Great Wolf Lodge in Grand Mound, WA and treated to some super incredible experiences.  It was our very first time there as a family, and we were so excited for Marloe and Sorel to experience all that Great Wolf Lodge had to offer! I am sharing everything you need to know about staying at a Great Wolf Lodge, and showcasing some highlights from our stay!
CHECK IN
Upon check in we were given our room info, Wolf Headbands (for the girls), and Paw Passes. The staff was very friendly, and let us know all about the activities, events, restaurants, and schedules for all of the shows! We got PAW passes for both the girls, which was a great way to do activities for an awesome deal! CLick HERE for EVERYTHING you need to know about the Great Wolf Lodge Paw Passes! The front desk staff reminded us about the s’mores mixer and gave us an event schedule so we were aware of everything that we could participate in for our stay.  We got to our room, and immediately set out to explore!!!
PLAN YOUR DAY
We toured the lodge on the night we checked in, and got as much information on everything as possible. We wanted to plan out our next day, so that we could maximize our stay! There were families everywhere, and it seemed like everyone around us was happy and having an amazing time. We learned all about the Magiquest, and Marloe was SO EXCITED to start her Quest’s the next day! Be sure to get all the info you need beforehand so that you can spend your time having fun instead of getting educated on all that Great Wolf Lodge has to offer!
MAGIQUEST
We knew beforehand that Great Wolf Lodge had amazing pools, water slides, and arcades….but we were pleasantly surprised to find out all about their MagiQuest Game! Our Great Wolf Lodge Paw Pass came with a MagiQuest wand and game and the moment we started playing it was game on! We grabbed our wands and learned all about how to play the game! Colten and Marloe spent more time playing MagiQuest than they did in the pools!!! They had a blast collecting all the different points, and moving from station to station! Marloe’s excitement every time was absolutely infectious! It was super fun to watch all the other kids and their families running around collecting points too! Marloe waved her wand everywhere, and loved watching the lodge come to life before her eyes!
WATER PARK FUN
We spent one full day at the waterpark! I could not believe how big it was….and immediately after stepping foot at the park we had non stop fun! Since Marloe and Sorel are still so young we couldn’t take them down the larger slides, but there was still plenty of fun activities and water slides they could do for their age range! We spent a lot of time at the outdoor splash pad area & got to enjoy the Summer camp games while we swam! We stopped at the cafe inside the water park and grabbed some lunch to enjoy in between swimming! They have so many different waterpark attractions that kids and adults of any age will love! Best part, It was just a short walk and we were back to our room, which was so convenient for nap time!! Indoor water parks are the way to go with young kiddos! No sunburns & lots of smiles! Learn more about their water park attractions HERE.
ACTIVITIES & EVENTS
Our very first full day was so magical! We woke up and enjoyed “Wake Up with Wiley and Friends” The Great Clock Tower Show story time!! I grabbed a Starbucks in the lobby, and then we sat and had a morning story time for the kiddos! It was so exciting for the girls to see so many other kids awake and enjoying story time with them! They Watched in wonder as all the Great Clock Tower friends came to life with Northwoods songs, stories, jokes and beyond. The girls had the opportunity to interact with the characters, and kept singing the songs they learned all day! In the afternoon we participated in the “Camp In Jamboree & Story Time Craft”!! The girls made a fun craft, got balloon animals, buttons, "wolfagami", and more! Before bed, we put the kiddos in their PJs and let them attend The Great Clock Tower Show! They were read a bedtime story, and got to take a picture with the characters before bed! They also got to make S’mores and play with all the new friends they made throughout our stay! It was so much fun!!
MORE TO EXPLORE
When we weren’t swimming or playing MagiQuest, there was still SO MUCH to explore at the lodge! Our Paw Passes came with an interactive mining experience complete with a exciting mirror maze that was such a blast. Afterward we panned for beautiful rocks & gems at Oliver's Mining Co. Once we were all done we stopped at the Great Wolf Candy Company shop and loaded up on bulk candy and sweets!!! We were amazing at the yummy selection of candy & had enough to take home with us!! On our very last night we headed into the arcade and played for a few hours before we went and played a round of glow in the dark mini golf! (YES! THEY HAVE SO MUCH TO DO AT GREAT WOLF LODGE!!!) Marloe and Sorel weren’t super into the mini golf…but Colten and I had an absolute blast!
FOOD FOOD & MORE FOOD
The food and restaurant choices were amazing. We ate such yummy food, and we were all so impressed with the great selection of restaurants and dining options. Our first night we ate at Lodge Wood Fired Grill, and felt like we were in a fancy restaurant. It was so good, and we raved about our meals for the remainder of the night. On our second night we decided to try out the all you can eat buffet….and O M G….IT DID NOT DISAPPOINT. We both highly recommend doing the buffet for at least one of the nights, everything from the soups & salads to desserts were absolutely delicious!Yummy drinks and snacks were available all throughout the lodge as well, and we drank our hearts out in Coca Cola products!!
————-
Are you planning a trip to Great Wolf Lodge?  Let me tell you Marloe is 3, and still talks about this place constantly. It is one of the magical places, and you leave wanting to come back and experience it all over again!
There are several Great Wolf Lodge locations around the country, and each one varies a little bit. But I am positive you will have an absolutely amazing time wherever you visit!

LOOK 1:

I absolutely LOVED this whole outfit. The skirt was so flattering, and runs TTS. I am 5’5’’ and weigh 120 lbs & am wearing a size 2! Both tops pictured are a size small! I took home this whole look & the two tops I wore—they were so so cute and so reasonably priced! You can dress up this outfit for church/wedding, or wear it casually while out & about!!! I plan on wearing it for both!

LOOK 2:

I LOVE THIS OUTFIT. I took one of the same tops from the first look, and paired it with these super relaxed army green shorts to create this super cute/casual look!!! These shorts would be cute at the pool, beach, or even just running errands in the Summer heat!!!! Plus, they would be super cozy to lounge in!! Oh, and BONUS….THEY COME IN SO MANY COLORS! Shared some of my favorite colors below!

LOOK 3:

They had so many cute dresses like this one, with different prints! I love this one, and it could easily make a beach coverup!!! I am wearing a size 2, and it runs TTS!!!! Super soft & cozy material too!

LOOK 4:

I couldn’t love this top more!!!! I’m wearing a size 2/Small, and it fits great, and is even a little loose fitting—which I like!!! I love casual tops like this, that you can pair with some denim or a cute skirt!!!! The pants are my favorite too, they are boyfriend style & go with everything!!!!

LOOK 5:

Final outfit I was able to try on….because #toddlerproblems! I love love this dress, and love the front tie!!! I brought this home with me as well, and can’t wait to wear it this Summer! Wearing size 2!!!

Here are some other cute pieces I found online that I wanted to share with you guys!!!!! H&M has some CUTE stuff right now! And as always I appreciate when you guys click on these links, and purchase through them!!! Helps me keep doing what I love & support my family!

I have been so emotional. Crying like crazy, and feeling so sad that my little baby is growing up. Although I am so sad to be done breastfeeding Sorel, I am also SO HAPPY that this chapter is closing.
As moms we often have opposing feelings about stages in motherhood. One moment we’re wishing that our babies stay little forever….and the next moment we can’t wait until they are off to school! We can’t wait until bedtime….but then we stay up late missing our kids & staring at pictures of them. :) Those opposing emotions are exactly how I felt about breastfeeding with both of my girls.
I thought I would share my breastfeeding journey (with both babies) today, along with some tips & tricks to help make the weaning process go much more smoothly! I am NO expert, and every baby/mom is different…so remember that when reading this post!
______
MARLOE + ME BF JOURNEY:
Right after Marloe was born, the hospital I delivered at immediately put her on my skin. Before they weighed, cleaned, or even cut her umbilcal cord they placed her on my bare chest. They let Colten cut her cord while she layed on me, and within a few minutes after coming out of me I put her right on my breast to nurse. It was CRAZY. She was only minutes old…and she began to suck! It was instinctual & pretty amazing to witness this tiny baby continue to receive nourshinment from me.
Ever since that moment, she didn’t skip a beat. She was amazing at nursing & wanted to eat CONSTANTLY. After a few days, it hit me. The PAIN. My boobs were adjusting to this new job, and they were working overtime. My nipples were hurting & nursing went from being beautiful to straight up MISERABLE. I kept thinking…is this what it’s going to be like? Can I even make it another day?
With every nursing session I held my breath…and just waited for it to end. Along with the pain from my breasts, my uterus was hurting and aching every time I nursed. One thing they don’t tell you before having a baby, is how bad the cramps are when you breastfeed in those early weeks. When you breastfeed your body releases a hormone that tells your uterus to contract. Those contractions KILL. They feel like labor pains, and they are the worst. But on the bright side those contractions help your uterus & belly pooch to shrink a lot faster! Is pretty amazing how our bodies work…and how one thing is a catalyst to another.
After getting through those first few postpartum weeks, breastfeeding was no longer painful. My boobs adjusted, and were tough enough to handle the rigors of breastfeeding a hungry baby!!! I think those first weeks (especially with baby number 1) are the hardest to get through when it comes to nursing. If you can get through those weeks, then you can get through the rest easy! I also believe that having a support system is KEY to keep on going. You need a partner that supports you, and helps get through the hard times. Pain while breastfeeding DOES NOT LAST FOREVER. You just have to get through those hard weeks!
I nursed Marloe all around the clock (on demand) up until she was 15 months. She would get up countless times in the night to nurse, would only fall asleep if I nursed her, and was OBSESSED with “comfort nursing”. I had initially only planned to breastfeed her until she turned one…but quickly realized that stopping was a lot harder than I originally thought. My relationship with nursing had changed once Marloe went from being a little baby that needed the nourishment to a toddler that wanted comfort. Nursing that last month with her was terrible. I developed something called “Nursing Aversion”.
“BAA or ‘aversion’ is a phenomenon that some breastfeeding mothers experience, which includes having particular negative feelings, often coupled with intrusive thoughts when an infant is latched and suckling at the breast (Yate, 2017).” I would start nursing Marloe (she was 14.5 months at the time) & immediately I would feel overwhelmingly agitated, and want her to stop. I realized that breastfeeding was no longer healthy for me & no longer '“needed” for Marloe. SO IT WAS TIME TO STOP FOR THE BOTH OF US. I’ll share my tips for how to do that at the end of this post!
______
SOREL + ME BF JOURNEY:
Sorel’s birth was MUCH easier and more smooth than Marloes. I feel like most second babies are, and us moms just know what to expect with 2nd & 3rd babies better! After Sorel was born, she was more interested in sleeping, than she was in breastfeeding. It wasn’t tough to get her to latch, but it was tough to get her to stay latched. She would nurse for 1 minute…then pass out asleep. This lasted the first week or so, and I was stressing about her getting enough nutrients. Since she wasn’t nursing near enough, my boobs were engorged. I had to pump them just to get release.
After those first weeks…she finally figured it out! She stayed awake much longer, and was able to empty my boobs, so I didn’t have constant breast pains. I also tried pumping a few times & giving her a bottle. She did pretty well with the bottle (only gave her one maybe 3 times), but she obviously preferred the real deal!!! I love the convenience that comes with breastfeeding. You can feed your baby anywhere and everywhere that you are with your baby.
I did notice that this time around my boobs didn’t hurt nearly as much as they did the first time. It’s like my body had it all figured out better, and everything knew was to expect!
Things went pretty smoothly, up until she got teeth.
Sorel loved to bite me. She thought it was hilarious…I swear everytime she would bite my nipple, she would just start giggling. If you’re a breastfeeding mom that has experienced little sharp baby teeth biting your sensitive nipple skin….then you know HOW PAINFUL IT IS. This was about at 7 months, and I seriously debated stopping nursing altogether. I would pull her off immediately after she would bite, and this taught her pretty quickly that she shouldn’t bite….or no more booby milk!
At 9 months she started to show less interest in nursing, and interest in solid food instead. I should have taken that as a sign to wean her, but instead I kept on going. I would nurse Sorel about 3 times a day & 3-4 times a night….and I was just over it. She was eating more than enough solid food, and didn’t need to nurse anymore. She was using nursing to fall asleep, and it was no longer about actually being hungry. I started weaning a few weeks ago….and last night was our last night nursing EVER.
______
WEANING PROCESS + TIPS:
I weaned both the girls in pretty much the same way. I started by cutting out all the random nursing sessions, and for the first time didn’t nurse on demand. If my Sorel would randomly whine to nurse, then I would put her in her highchair with food/snacks to distract her. I would only nurse once before her morning nap, once in the afternoon, and once right before bed.
I didn’t however cut ANY night time feedings. Anytime Sorel would wake up, I would nurse her back to sleep. Sometimes it was once in the night….and other nights it was 3-4 times. AFTER A FULL 14 MONTHS OF THAT. I WAS SO OVER IT. Sorel co-sleeps with us, and nursing her back to sleep was more out of convenience…than it was anything else.
In my opinion it’s been easier to start the weaning process slowly. That way your breastmilk supply adjusts regularly, and also so your baby isn’t bombarded with a new routine. Be sure that when you cut out feedings, that you don’t give in. This is super confusing to your baby/toddler and makes them feel like they are in control. They learn that if they cry and scream enough that you will give in. Make sure you don’t!!! Also if you’re weaning an older baby/toddler like I did with both my girls…then you can verbally communicate that your not going to nurse them. I would tell Sorel that my “Booby milk is all gone”. And although she isn’t talking full sentences…I could see that she was slowly understanding.
After weaning out a few daytime feeds, I started cutting it down to one during the day. The only one that really mattered to me…..the session right before bed!! I had been able to get Sorel to sleep during the day (without nursing) by wrapping a warm blanket around her and rocking her to sleep. When you’re used to nursing your baby to sleep for so long, you think there is no other way they will fall asleep. But I promise, if they get tired enough and they KNOW they aren’t getting to breastfeed, then they will eventually fall asleep on their own. You just have to be okay with them whining and crying for a few days while they adjust to it!
NIGHT TIME WEANING IS THE HARDEST FOR ME.
When you’re an exhausted parent, you’ll do anything to get your baby back to sleep. Losing those late night/early morning sessions is the hardest for most moms. But I have learned through both my experiences that it can be done. You just have to be persistent and consistent.
IT TAKES 3-4 NIGHTS…AND THAT’S IT.
I’ll be honest with you, the first night will be hell. It will take everything in you not to give in and nurse your screaming baby. Continue to tell your baby that its “all gone”, and comfort them back to sleep. If you give IN even once, they will have their grip on you…and they will scream even louder the next time to get you to give in again. SO DON’T!!!!! YOU CAN GET THROUGH 1 HARD NIGHT! :)
The next following nights are WAY better. Your baby may wake up the same amount of times, but they will most likely begin to learn that you aren’t giving in…so they will give up a lot quicker and go back to sleep. Keep water (not milk) by your bed to give them if they seem thirsty. This way you aren’t giving them those extra calories that they are used to!
Sorel woke up a few times in the night on nights 3 & 4. She cried for a second, and immediately fell back to sleep. On night 5, she didn’t wake up ONCE. I WOKE UP FEELING LIKE A NEW WOMAN!
Although I had cut out the night time sessions, I had continued to keep that one sessions right before bed. I kept that session for a few days after ending the nighttime sessions. I did that because my boobs were engorged and I wanted to ease into weaning as slow as possible. But last night was my very last session. The strange part, Sorel didn’t even seem interested in nursing. She seriously nursed for about 5 minutes, then popped off to play. Its crazy that we are already to this point with our second child….guess it’s time to start this whole process over again with another baby! ;)

I can’t imagine our home without our Goldendoodle, Chooiee. He truly completes our family. and I love watching him and the girls grow up together! Having him around definitely makes our home happier!
Dogs are happy animals, plain and simple. After having Chooiee for a couple of years, we have learned so many tricks & tips to making our already happy dog—even happier!
Here are some tips on making your dog a little extra happy today!!!
Buy a Kiddie Pool
Summers can get hot for dogs, and there is nothing more refreshing than a dip in the pool! Most dogs love to swim, so why not give them a special kiddie pool that’s all their own? Put some water-friendly dog toys in there so they know that it is a special place they can go to cool off whenever they want!!! If you have kids, they will love it too!!!
Let them Destroy Their Toys
I know what you’re thinking,……I just paid for that! Well, it’s actually in your best interest to let your dog wrangle their toys around, even to the point of no return. Dogs need to exercise their animal instincts and destroying toys helps them stay sharp. Change your toys up every now & then to keep things interesting for your pup!!!
Take them on Car Rides with You
We often run quick errands with our kids, but why not our dogs?? Chooiee loves going on car rides with us, and loves being along for the action! I take him to the Coffee shop with me, and he loves getting all the attention from all the baristas in the drive-thru! :) It wwould get boring being stuck home all day….so a quick trip to the market with your pup could help change up their routine—and make them happier!! Be sure not to leave your pup in the car in extreme cold/hot temperatures!
Feed them Good Food
We recently switched to Purina® ONE SmartBlend True Instinct Premium Real Turkey & Venison Dry Dog Food for Chooiee, and he has since been much more active & alert!!! Feeding your pet wholesome dog food is SO IMPORTANT! Purina® ONE® True Instinct is dedicated to the lifelong potential of your pet.
Highlights
  • 30% protein content helps support strong muscles
  • Real turkey is the #1 ingredient and real venison
  • Two times the tender, meaty morsels compared to Purina ONE Lamb & Rice Formula
  • No poultry by-product meal, artificial flavors or preservatives
  • Natural plus vitamins and minerals adult dog food
You can sign your dog up to take the 28 day challenge on purinaone.com and receive $3 off coupon!!!! Purchase at your local Target or online at Target.com! There are so many amazing Purina dog food options to choose from!! See HERE!
Take them to the Park
Just like humans need exercise…dogs need exercise too! Having a dog is a great excuse to get out of the house, and get moving at the park!!! Chooiee always is a much more relaxed and happy dog at home when we gets some runs in at the park!!! Not only does it tire our big pup out, but also our two kiddos from chasing him around! WIN WIN!
Give them their Own Space
Give your dogs a space that is just theirs! We have a spot for Chooiee, with a bed + some toys! He loves retreating to his bed for naps, and definitely treats that spot as his “safe zone”!!! He hides toys in his spot, and takes all his favorite toys there to play with!
Play More!!!!
Even if it’s just 10 minutes a day, getting some playtime in with your dog will build your relationship and allow you both to have fun. Dogs get bored and they want to play, even if they’re are a bit older!! I always try my best to buy Chooiee a new toy to surprise him with! He seriously gets so excited, and can;t wait to get outside to play with me!!!
Thanks so much for reading, and I hope you make your home as happy as possible for your furry friends!

Yours Truly, Ciera by Ciera Dastrup - 3M ago

When we decided to get our dog Chooiee, we truly didn’t know what we were in for. Colten and I had just got married, and instead of having a baby right away….we decided to ease into parenthood by getting a puppy. How hard could a puppy be right??? Boy, were we in for a surprise.

Chooiee was a rambunctious pup, who loved peeing everywhere, chewing up carpet, and eating everything but his dog food. I quickly realized how much work was required for a dog, and wasn’t sure if we made the right decision.

I am so happy we stuck it out through those first puppy stages with Chooiee, because he has turned into such an amazing dog, and I couldn’t imagine our home without him! Marloe has grown up with him as her pal, and it’s been so cute to see their relationship!!!

Having a super furry dog, in rainy Seattle has been a challenge. He comes in from outside smelling like wet dog every time it rains….and it rains here A LOT. I love our sweet cuddly pup, but that doesn’t mean I have to settle on smelly pet odors lingering around in our house & car!!! That’s why I use Febreze AIR Heavy Duty Pet Odor Eliminator to clean smelly pet messes around our home!! Having a pet can have its ups & downs....but a smelly house isn’t a concern anymore!

I also love keeping a bottle of Febreze FABRIC Pet Odor Eliminator in the backseat if my car, to use after we take Chooiee on walks or to the park! Febreze eliminates pet odors and keeps my car smelling amazing… no one would ever know our sweet pup was ever in there!!!

Some common questions people often have about Febreze:

Q: Are Febreze products safe to use in homes with pets?

A: Febreze offers pet-specific AIR and FABRIC products to target pet odors and safely and effectively eliminate them with Febreze’s OdorClear Technology.

Q: Where are Febreze products sold?

A: The Febreze product line is available at grocery, retail, and mass merchandise stores nationwide including Target, Walmart, Kroger and now PetSmart and Petco.

Q: Where can consumers find more information about Febreze products?

A: More information on the entire Febreze product line can be found at www.febreze.com or www.facebook.com/febreze.

Having a dog can have its ups and downs, but if you’re thinking about taking the plunge to pet parenthood—do it!!! Nothing is better than having a pet best friend & watching them grow alongside your kiddos! Thanks to Febreze you won’t have to worry about those smelly pet messes either!!! Go pick some up from your local Walmart or online at Walmart.com!!!

Do any of your kiddos have super sensitive skin? ⁣⁣

⁣⁣Marloe and Sorel have extremely sensitive skin, and I have to be super cautious about everything & anything that touches their bodies. That means no perfumes, dyes, or harsh chemicals in ANY of the products we use on them!

Marloe has severe Eczema, and even water that is too warm can cause an outbreak on her skin. Back when we first discovered Marloe’s Eczema, we decided to make the switch to more natural products that wouldn’t irritate her sensitive skin.
That's why we use Huggies Natural Care wipes!! They are the # 1 branded wipe and are made with 99% water so you won’t find any of those harsh & unnecessary chemicals getting on your kiddos! These safe and gentle wipes are hypoallergenic and dermatologically tested , and enriched with aloe and vitamin E to keep your baby's skin healthy!!!

You can pick these wipes up at Walmart! Or you can shop them using this Ibotta link: https://ibotta.com/rebates?q=HuggiesNaturalCareWipes

Yours Truly, Ciera by Ciera Dastrup - 4M ago

Being a full time stay at home mom, and running my own business stretches me thin every day. I chase two toddlers around all day long, run errands, make appointments, work on my computer, and try to keep a tidy house…..all while being attentive to my kids & husbands needs! J It truly is a balancing act, and I have discovered over the years that I can’t do it all without a little help! I have found some amazing “Mom Hacks” that really make all the difference in my own life. Today I am teaming up with Cascade pure essentials to share my hacks in hope to help other mama’s alleviate the stress in their own lives!!

CLEAN DISHES HACK:

I know I am not the only one that absolutely hates dirty dishes in the sink. It stinks up the house, and if left undone, it begins to stack up…and starts to look like the Leaning Tower of Pisa—dish style. I get major anxiety when the dishes are left in the sink, and I have made it my mission to get them done the second the dishwasher is emptied and ready to be filled again. I just don’t have time to pre-wash the dishes, fill them in the dishwasher, and then have to wash them again after they weren’t completely cleaned properly. I rely on products that work, and work the first time! That is why I switched to Cascade pure essentials dish detergent, and I haven’t looked back since! Cascade pure essentials offers a dependable clean with a simplified formula that meets the most important needs of today’s families – no compromise necessary!!! It has biobased* ingredients and is free of phosphates and chlorine bleach.I call this a “Mom Hack” because dishes are the WORST, and this product makes it way less stressful! Ps. Through March 30, get a $1 off Cascade pure essentials using Cartwheel in the Target App here.

MEAL DELIVERY KITS:

I used to have the same phone call with my husband every day, while he was at work. I would ask it him what sounded good for dinner…and he would tell me “ I don’t care, I am good with anything!” UGH. NO HELP, and now I turn to Pinterest and scroll endlessly to find a recipe, only to find a page full of confusing ingredients & instructions. I end up at giving up, and go to the store and buy the same old ingredients for the same old meal that I make every other day! I don’t have time to get to the store most days with my busy schedule…and taking the kiddos in and out of their carseats to run in “quickly” to the store, never ends up being quick at all. I finally decided to try out some Meal delivery kits, and I have been SO HAPPY ever since!!! I no longer have to worry about what to make, and the menu & ingredients are sent straight to our door!!! No more stress, and my family LOVES all the different recipes we have made! MOM WIN FOR SURE!!!

SIMPLIFIED LIVING:

Clutter causes anxiety. Plain and simple! Studies have shown this to be true, and yet most of us parents have households full of stuff we don’t need. I realized pretty quickly that I am happier when my house is clean of junk & clutter. I go through my kid’s toys, clothing, and games often…and donate everything we don’t use or need to Goodwill. What works best for me is having a bin in our garage that I fill up with things I want to donate throughout the week. It helps me to have the bin in the garage, so that I don’t end up putting the items back away in my house from it sitting out. I live about 5 minutes from Goodwill, so I take donations almost weekly! I am able to think clearer, and feel less stressed when I am not crowded with things, and when the things we do keep are where they are supposed to be!

Hope you try out these “Mom Hacks” to help you live a more stress free life!

Spring is in the air, I can just feel it!!! The temperatures are definitely getting warmer here in the PNW, and I can see beach days in my near future….and I am not just talking up my upcoming vacation!!! I HATE dressing the kiddos for Winter. Its all about functionality, and staying warm…and there are way less cute & girly clothing options in the colder months.

I LIVE FOR DRESSES & SHORTS & ROMPERS & EVERYTHING SPRING AND SUMMER!!!

I have been stocking up on pretty dresses for our vacation, and found some pretty pieces to round up here on the blog. Maybe one day I’ll have a boy and link boy clothing here…..but until then, my blog is all girl—with the exception of Colten & our pup Chooiee!

Here's the thing about being a stay-at-home mom: it can be super isolating. Like, completely, overwhelmingly, stay-in-your-home-with-your-crying-baby-and-don't-get-out-of-your-sweats-all-day kind of isolating. It can be lonely. It can be depressing.

But it doesn't have to be!!!

You can let the walls close in on you. You can stay inside your home and get buried under piles of laundry and dishes, and listen to the same Disney channel shows over & over & over again....

But you don’t have to!!!

Being a stay-at-home-mom can definitely be lonely! You get very little (if any) adult interaction & you can start to feel like you are losing yourself.

But it doesn't have to feel that way!!!!

Here's a little secret I've learned the hard way, after suffering from many bouts of "cabin fever": just get outside. That's it. Leave the house. Even if it's just a walk around the block. A trip to Target, or your local coffee shop. Or hey, just going in your backyard and hang out for a little! I promise you it will help, especially if you’re a first time mom with a new little baby!

That’s why I LOVE living in such a beautiful and vibrant city with so many different places to go and things to do! It makes it a lot easier to get out with the kiddos, when the activities and restaurants are kid friendly!! Today I teamed up with JJ Cole and rounded up a few amazing kid friendly spots here in Seattle for you local mamas or if you’re ever visiting the PNW!!

JJ COLE Q & A

Q- What you love about Seattle?

A- I love how much there is to do here! We have the mountains, the ocean, plenty of lakes, and of course the big beautiful city!! There is no shortage of activities, and I feel like we are constantly exploring somewhere new! Seattle is a giant melting pot of cultures, and I love that my kids can grow up in a place with so much diversity. The food here is amazing, and you can get just about any authentic type of food your heart desires!!!!

Q- Best place to eat with kids?

A- Whenever we go into the city, we love to eat at ‘Ivar’s Seafood’ right on the water. They have some of the best clam chowder & super yummy fish & chips! The best part about the restaurant isn’t even the food, but the location! After eating, we feed all the seagulls our leftover French fries...and they even will come grab them right out of your hand!! Marloe LOVES feeding the birds, and it’s hard to break her away from them when it’s time to go! While eating we also love to watch sea lions rest on the docks, and the big ferry boats head from island to island.

Another great kid friendly spot in the city is Super Beuno! Super Bueno, located in Fremont, offers family-friendly Mexican food, serving lunch, dinner and even weekend brunch. Our favorites include the Super Bueno nachos, breakfast burritos and tacos as well as the Super Guac, Chilled Watermelon Salad served with mint, Guajillo salt and Pop Rocks (trust me on this one!) and the Mexican Chop Salad. The kids’ play area (aka the Kid Pit) will keep little amigos happy and engaged while you and your hubby eat your hearts out!

Q- Best outdoor activity with kids?

A- I love taking the kids to Pike Place Market, and getting some good food & local produce! It’s so fun walking around through all the local vendors and finding fun new things to take home!!! Marloe also loves going on the Ferry to and from all the islands!!! The best time to go is in the Summer when the weather is good, there is truly no prettier sight!!!! Marloe loves watching for whales, and we even spotted one last Summer on a Ferry ride to Whidbey Island!! There are also so many fun parks, and outdoor museums downtown too!

Q- Best indoor activity with kids?

A- The Pacific Science Center is a super fun place for kiddos, and adults! They have a mission to ignite curiosity and fuel a passion for discovery, experimentation, and critical thinking! The Seattle Aquarium is another fun spot for kids! They have such a wide variety of sea life to explore, and have some incredibly beautiful views of the ocean! The Aquarium is located right on the water, and close by to so many cool shops and restaurants!

While I was downtown, I was so happy to have brought along my JJ Cole Urban Black BundleMe for Marloe! As you can see pictured above, she was toasty warm & comfortable in her BundleMe!!! It was ideal for the cold Winter weather, and was way better than a flimsy blanket or jacket!!! Marloe seriously didn’t want to get out of it, which is saying something…cause that girl rarely ever sits still!!!

I also have been loving my Black Brookmont diaper bag from JJ Cole!!! The diaper bag is one of the most versatile diaper bags I have ever owned! It has 15 pockets designed with parents, and all the things we need in mind! It’s washable, 100% Vegan leather, and is SO DANG CUTE.

Get out and experience your city with all your favorite JJ Cole products!!! Perfect for taking on the day with your little ones!
