It’s the middle of winter, and I needed a reminder that Spring is around the corner so I visited Secret Location for a seasonal refresh. I immediately gravitate to anything with retro flair, so this paisley blouse by Holly Fulton jumped into sight. I paired it with Holly Fulton pink trousers that have a high-waist + wide leg. I had to include this metallic bomber by A.W.A.K.E. because it’s a show-stopper. Don’t forget the glasses! These Matthew Williamson sunnies are sending straight Elton John vibes, and I’m obsessed. Catch me wearing this outfit during winter, and all the way to spring.
I took a trip to Old Navy to get my little family holiday ready! When I think about holiday dressing, I immediately think deep colours, rich textures, and a bit of sparkle. I’m all about wine red, mustard yellow + navy blue this season, and I totally feel like these colours would suit everyone! I used those hues as a base to create colour-coordinating outfits for the clan and had fun with mixing textures+prints.
Me: The shift dress I’m wearing is so versatile and is paired perfectly with a faux fur vest. I went 2 sizes up with the vest because I love the oversized look.
Noah: I swear he is the energizer bunny. He’s on the go, non-stop, so he needs to wear something that can easily move with him. This look is comfortable and looks cute to boot. Love his cardi!
Mat: I’m obsessed with this mustard jumper on him! And I totally colour-coordinated his entire look. From socks, scarf, and sneakers…no colour is out of place.
Autumn: My little bear is so cute in her tulle skirt! The top and the skirt come in a set, which is great for mixing and matching with other pieces. I also added a bit of gold sparkle in her star tights and adorable cat booties.
Love going to Old Navy for the fam cause it’s a one stop shop for sure. Let me know what you think of these comfortable—but chic—holiday looks!
And just like that…it’s 2017. Can’t deny it, this year has been good to me. Rich in love. Rich in life. Our biggest milestone this year was baby #2. Autumn was the finishing addition. Blessed with awesome opportunities with work. Went to the Grammy’s? Cover of Flare mag? What? Craziness. Checked Iceland off the bucket list. Bought/reno’d our ski condo!
Give a warm welcome to the influx of red and green. But not gonna lie, It can get a bit much. Even though we can’t run away from it this season, we can purposely not incorporate it into our party outfits…and I’m down with that. I want to stand out, not blend in!
If you haven’t noticed, I’m going ‘anti-cliche’. Steering in a different direction with this look. Reinventing festive sparkle by wearing metallic rose. Even though every layer is the same hue, the diff textures give it dimension and I’d wear this outfit everyday if I could! It’s hard not to feel pretty in pink with this monochrome get-up.
Here we are again in the season of ugly sweaters. If the idea is the more tacky and over top the sweater, the better, why not create a sweater that’s one of a kind? In this case, we’re talking about achieving perfect tinsel, sparkle, + Christmas embellishment placement.
I hit up my local Value Village to get my goods. I’m not a sewer. I don’t have the patience for it. And I didn’t want to wait for glue to dry (again, with the patience). So this ‘ugly sweater’ is the easiest thing to create, while fully living up to it’s name.
First, I pinned the tinsel on my thrifted sweater. Then the ornaments. Then the felt balls. (simple direction would be an understatement). I safety pinned EVERYTHING. It’s quick + easy, and you aren’t damaging the sweater…in case you wanted to wear it again or reuse it for something else!
BTW, I got all my materials from Value Village. They have a large selection of new + used christmas decorations so I scored on everything! Plus, I was able to pick up some fun items for an upcoming White Elephant gift exchange.
So, if you’re rushed for time before your annual Ugly Christmas Sweater Partay, think about this easy peasy squeezy look.
