Day to day care for wood
floors is really important. Why? While floor
sanding experts can provide a service to fully restore your wood floors,
daily routines are what can keep on top of dirt building up. So many of our
clients tell us that when their wood floor is first laid that they build a
cleaning routine. This may include daily sweeping, buying products that are
formulated for wood floors and taking real care of their floors.
After some time, these routines do not necessarily continue.
However, it is really important that they do as it will improve the look of
your floor and it will make sure that it stands the test of time.
We have put together the following advice to help you care
for your wood flooring:
Make sure to develop a cleaning routine that you can stick
to. Wood floors should ideally be swept daily. This means that dirt and
particles can be removed from the floor. If these were to be left, they will
likely scratch the floor and deteriorate the surface wood finish.
Buy cleaning products that are specifically formulated for wood
floors. General cleaning products may damage the wood finish that you have.
They may also offer poor quality results which end up being costly and
time-consuming. We offer valuable information to our clients in relation to the
best wood cleaning products to purchase for their floor.
Place pads under your furniture. Without these soft pads,
furniture will again scratch and damage your floor. Doing this routinely to any
new furniture will inevitably help keep your floor looking at its best.
However, when your floors have served their best and just need a little TLC, we are available to assist. We are experienced floor sanders and serve Mirfield, Huddersfield, Halifax, Wakefield, Bradford, Morley, Barnsley, Leeds and all surrounding areas. If you would like to arrange a floor sanding quotation, please call our friendly staff on 0845 4599941.
Wood refinishing services can transform your home or business. Tired-looking wood floors detract from the setting which they are laid. This is certainly the case for high-traffic areas of any property. We were asked to completely restore this commercial oak stair case.
It created a real statement for this property. However, wear and tear meant that its appearance had deteriorated. Although oak is a hard-wearing and durable wood type; heavy use means that worn areas, scratches and a deteriorated look will occur over time. This does not mean that it is not reversible!
Our time-served floor sanding experience has allowed us the opportunity of gaining a local reputation for delivering high-quality finishes. We complete a large range of commercial floor sanding work so our approach to this can be tailored. We understand that it is important to minimise any disruption to your business.
What benefits will commercial floor sanding offer?
The appearance of your business premises will be lifted. Therefore, this offers both visitors to your Company and employees a positive reflection. A positive association will inevitably make your employees take pride in their surroundings. It will also likely enhance working relationships with your clients.
We are also able to provide information and advice on wood finish products. This is most certainly a really important element of our work. There are so many different wood finishes available that it is difficult to know where to start.
The selection of a lower-quality product could mean that it will deteriorate faster, peel or even offer insufficient protection against wear and tear. A higher-quality product will offer hard-wearing protection and an improved aesthetic appearance. This offers true value for money and means that the wood floors will remain looking at their best for as long as possible.
Once you have selected a commercial floor sander; the likelihood is that you will build up an ongoing working relationship. This means that a maintenance plan can be formulated in order to get the most from your wood floors and oak staircases. Call our friendly staff today on 0845 4599941.
We were very grateful to be given the opportunity to restore the floors at this amazing arts venue in Leeds this August. This is what our customer had to say about the work afterwards “This is the second time we have used Mark to re-sand our bar/restaurant and arts venue floor. The company is very professional and Mark & his team did an excellent job for us. The floors were particularly badly damaged this time but they have been lovingly restored so they look like new. Many of our customers have wondered if we had the whole floor replaced it looks so good. We have no hesitation in recommending Mark to other businesses, schools or private properties. You will receive an impressive service at a competitive price.” Pat Hunter, Director, Seven Arts
When looking for tips on floor sanding services there is often a range of detailed and complicated information. The likelihood is that you will be left so confused that you will be put off the process. There is absolutely no reason as to why this should happen.
There is a lot of information available. However, it is our responsibility to make sure that you are made aware of the details you need and that you are not bothered with all of the rest. This is how we have built up our reputation. We offer an exceptional service, providing brilliant finishes accompanied with details that benefit our clients.
We compiled a 10 Step Process to restoring wooden floors;
Step 1 – we make sure all nails are tapped down. We remove any loose grit and remove door strips
Step 2 – to check there are no loose boards and secure where necessary
Step 3 – we start the sanding process with our dust free belt sander. If the floor is uneven we will start at a forty-five degree angle straightening up till we are happy the floor is even and any indentations are removed. We will then go along the boards going up through 4 or 5 different grits off sand paper until we are happy with the finish
Step 4 – an edger is then used to reach the bits that could not be reached with the belt sander until we are happy of a good finish along the edges
Step 5 – all corners are scraped or sanded
Step 6 – an orbiter sander is then used on the edges to achieve the best finish possible
Step 7 – a rotary machine is then used with a multi hole pad to achieve the smoothest finish possible
Step 8 – a primer is applied. Once dried, the first coat of finish is applied and left to dry until the next day
Step 9 – a rotary is then used to flat back the floor and create a good surface for the last 2 coats
Step 10 – the last two coats of finish are applied

Wood floors are a really attractive floor covering. So many homes and business elect to have this as their chosen floor type. Why is this? They are warmer underfoot than stone tiles and they can weather better than carpet. There is an additional benefit that wooden flooring can also be sanded when it comes to the time that it starts to look dull.
It may also be the case that your wood floor has been damaged. Scratches and scuffs look really unsightly. We have devised comprehensive floor sanding services that provide a fast and efficient provision to breathe new life into your wood floors.
Once we have completed the survey on your flooring and arrange a date for the work to start we will discuss any preparation that is required.
We always ask that smaller items in the room are removed prior to our arrival. We realise that it can sometimes be more challenging to move larger items like sideboards and suites, so we will always help where possible. All boards are checked to ensure that they are fixed appropriately, and any possible protruding nails are dealt with.
This preparation allows us to be efficient with our time. The room is then prepared fully. This may mean that kickboards are removed (if restoring a kitchen floor) or that fireplace surrounds are protected with sheeting. Each job is approached in an individual manner to ensure that the surroundings are kept safe during the floor sanding process.
Our industrial sanding machinery provides a brilliant finish and is dust free. Our range of machinery works to remove the top layers of the damaged wooden boards. Once removed, a fresh surface is revealed. This surface is then treated with highest-grade wood floor products.
Have you got questions about the products that we use and how you are best to select the right wood finish for you? Call today on 0845 4599941 to find out more and to arrange your free survey.
Parquet flooring has an interesting past and stems from the French word parqueterie. Its history spans all the way back to the 1600’s. Parquet floors are essentially small blocks or strips of wooden boards that are laid to make a pattern. This pattern can be regular or geometric and can create some of the most spectacular floors and has been likened to mosaic floors.
Whilst it is often the advice that laying a parquet floor should not be an experience for a DIY’er, this is also the case for restoring them. Due to the way that they are laid and the fact that sometimes individual boards or blocks can be damaged, DIY restoration is steeped with challenges.
It may be that some blocks have become loose over time. Prior to any wood restoration or floor sanding work commencing, all boards should be checked to ensure that they are appropriately fixed.
We were asked to fully restore this beautiful Parquet floor in Leeds. This pattern type is called Herringbone and is arguably one of the most popular pattern types. It remains to be very popular and can be seen in many high-end properties.
As with many of our other completed jobs, this floor sanding work was part of a larger restoration project. The flooring has been unveiled and our client identified the potential in the floor straight away. They were incredibly accurate with their vision and once the old layers and coatings were removed, the beautiful boards were revealed.
The grain pattern and general quality of these boards were incredible. They had been hidden under other flooring types for so long that their potential had clearly been forgotten. We always look to offer advice on general cleaning once the boards have been restored and finished. Wood floors should be regularly cleaned using a hover and a damp cloth.

We often discuss the wood floor restoration that we complete and the transformations we achieve. There are many reasons as to why individuals look to restore their wooden surfaces. These may be:
To further protect the wooden surface from wear and tear or damage. Once the surface layers of protection have been worn away, the natural wood is revealed and can easily be damaged. The reason that wooden surfaces are finished is to protect the product and this is a really important role. All wood finishes need to be re-applied and the surface monitored for any deterioration.
To look for a transformation. It may be that a floor or surface has become dated. It may be that an individual is looking for a cost-effective way of bringing character to a space.Either way an area of your home can be completely altered with a simple and straightforward consideration.
This was certainly the case with this wood restoration project we took on in Leeds. The original image shows the dated aesthetic appearance of these wooden steps. We knew that a full restoration job alongside some modernisations would really transform their look.
To start with the stair tread trim was removed in order to be replaced with a wooden alternative. All surfaces were then fully sanded with our dustless sanding system. This provided a smooth and even surface to be finished. A hard-wearing alternative was needed to suit the use of the space.

We recently restored this aged floor in Hull. The location of the floor had meant that it was used regularly and therefore showed the aging signs of this. Don’t live with floors that have lost all their protective coverings. Wood finishes can be cared for and maintained so that they act as a barrier against use and wear.
The images show the transformation that we achieved. The floor was almost unrecognisable once we left. Another happy client with a wood floor to be proud of!
During the process of wood restoration, you are able to select an entirely different wood finish. Did you know that? When the wood boards are fully sanded they are taken back to their most-natural finish.
Once this has been done a wood stain or wood finish can be applied that can completely alter the look and appearance of your wood floor.
Last week we completed this commercial floor sanding job in Leeds. Again, when we arrived the floor looked in a generally deteriorated state. As well as the general wear, the floor had a dark finish applied.
Our clients decided that they wanted to fully restore the floor and finish it with a more natural looking finish. This would inevitably brighten the feel of the room and lift it.
It is important when completing our commercial floor sanding work that it is completed in timescales that match the requirements of our clients. This may be that work needs to be done in times where the business is either closed or at its quietest.
Either way, we work with our clients in order to take all aspects into consideration, where possible. The parquet floor was sanded with our dust free sanding system.
As the name suggests this means that the dust created in the sanding process is removed into a filtration system. Why is this good? It means that there is less mess for our clients, we are able to monitor our work better and minimises the timescales that we need to be present.
Parquet flooring is incredibly popular and still remains as one of the most sought after wood flooring types. It is thought to be a sophisticated choice and creates a statement for anywhere it is laid.
Careful consideration is required when restoring it as any errors can damage the individual boards.
Our experience and passion for as expert floor sanders means that we are best-equipped to complete the task. We will achieve superior results, whilst ensuring that you, our customer, experiences the highest level of customer care.
We are specialists at sanding and restoring oak flooring for Leeds, Lincoln, Hull and West Yorkshire. We are passionate about beautiful oak floors and ensuring that worn, scratched or damaged floors can be restored. Why is this important?
Wooden floors are so popular and are laid within so many homes and businesses. Daily life means that these floors are faced with challenges that can deteriorate and affect their appearance. This does not need to be a permanent condition.
Even the highest quality oak floors can experience damage which will mean that they are left generally unsightly. The floor sanding work that we complete is always completed to achieve the best possible finish.
When we arrived to complete this wood floor restoration project, it was evident that furniture and wear had damaged this oak floor. The first image shows areas where the wood finish had been removed. There were deep scratches and the finish had generally discoloured.
This left a less-than-satisfactory appearance. Movement of furniture can easily damage the surface of the wood boards. Heavy furniture will quite literally scratch the existing surface from the boards.
If furniture is left in any particular area for any period of time then it is likely the surface underneath will end up being a different colour to the rest of the floor. Sun damage will alter the appearance of the floor and general usage will be less.
This oak floor was fully sanded with our expert sanding machinery. This revealed a new layer which was then prepared for finishing. Our client selected an oil wood finish. This brought out the beautiful natural wood grain and gave a completely different appearance to the original floor.
These images show how wood floors can be transformed through the floor restoration process. We are passionate about delivering an exceptional service with ongoing customer care.
