If you can believe it, it's been 13 years since The Hills first premiered on MTV, introducing us to the world of Lauren and Heidi fights, Teen Vogue intern life, and combat boots on the beach. We first got word of the reboot back in August, and now the time has finally come to see what the cast is up to in 2019.
The stars of The Hills: New Beginnings took to the red carpet last night to celebrate the show ahead of the official premiere on Monday, June 24. Original show members like Whitney Port, Spencer Pratt, Heidi Montag, and Audrina Patridge joined newcomers like Mischa Barton on the red carpet, sparking more than a little bit of nostalgia. Only time will tell if the revamped version is as compelling as the original one, but it's safe to say we're extremely curious to see how things will play out. Scroll down to see what everyone wore on the red carpet for the premiere of The Hills: New Beginnings.

I just went to my first wedding of the year and have five more coming up—if that’s not proof that we’re in peak wedding season, I don’t know what is. While I love an opportunity to dress up (okay, and an excuse to shop), my bank account is decidedly less thrilled about the prospect. Like almost everyone else on the planet, I wish I could afford a new outfit for every occasion on my calendar, but the truth of the matter is: I can’t. (Well, I guess I could, but I’m not looking to go into serious debt—sorry, my internal monologue is really acting up today.) What I can do, however, is scoop up a few new incredibly satisfying beauty buys. So what am I currently eyeing for the season ahead? For starters, the following must-haves, all avaialble at Walmart…
The majority of summer weddings are held outside, meaning you 100% need to wear a primer. This oil-free formula is 60% water-based and has oil absorbers that’ll give your complexion a smooth matte finish. It also helps reduce the appearance of fine lines and pores with light diffusers, and vitamin C peptides help even skin tone over time.
I love that the colors in this eye palette are a bit moody and a mix of matte and shimmery options. Even though they're a bit darker, they're still natural-looking, offering up plenty of mixing and matching opportunities. You can honestly use this for every single wedding on the calendar without wearing the same look twice (unless you want to, of course).
No matter the season, when you’re at a wedding, you need a waterproof mascara formula, and this is one of our favorites. It’s all about the soft, wavy brush that has 200+ bristles. It coats every single lash and gives each one a serious curl. I’m telling you—it’ll give you the lash length of your dreams.
The secret to getting a perfect lit-from-within glow is to add a little bit of this to your face makeup. It hydrates and luminizes skin giving it a subtle, healthy radiant glow. Serious compliments incoming!
The last thing you want is a dry, flaky pout to finish off your wedding look. That’s why I love a good lip plumper, especially when it multitasks and isn’t sticky. This one not only nourishes lips (and smooths ’em over time), but the lightweight formula boosts collagen production and seals in moisture with hyaluronic acid.
When you’re outside for a wedding, there’s a good chance you’ll start to sweat if it gets hot enough. (Don’t worry, we’ve all been there.) That’s why you most definitely need a fragrance like Daisy that can get you through anything. It has a unique mix of red berries, jasmine, and driftwood that honestly just smells really good. Plain and simple.
I rarely use hot tools—I tend to save them for special occasions like weddings—so when I do, I like to use some sort of protective spray beforehand. I love that this is lightweight and also texture-enhancing which will make my final ’do look healthy and full.
My go-to hairstyle for weddings is to enhance my natural texture by adding a few curls throughout. I usually stick to a wand, but I’ve heard great things about this tool and figure now’s the time to give it a try. Apparently it curls hair by drawing it into the heated curl chamber, where it holds the strand for a few seconds and releases it once it’s done. There’s no way to mess it up, which is a total relief for this gal who is totally useless when it comes to hair.
Can you tell we have a bit of a shoe obsession here at Who What Wear? As long as celebrities are wearing enviable footwear, you can bet we'll be covering their shoe choices. From Rihanna's Cinderella-esque glass shoes to Jennifer Lopez's platform heels, celebrities provide us with plenty of footwear fodder, and now Emily Ratajkowski is our latest obsession.
Photographed in rainy New York City, Ratajkowski wore everyone's favorite mall brand: Steve Madden. She chose the cult label's Erin Leather Shoes, which ring it at an affordable $80 and come in a whopping 10 different colorways, including hot pink, leopard, and yellow. (If you can't choose between them, Ratajkowski's white versions are probably a safe bet.) She wore the affordable shoes with an equally wallet-friendly jacket-turned-dress: the Emrata x Nasty Gal Take Cover Belted Jacket ($140). Scroll down to see her outfit and shop the pieces she's wearing.

I love the idea of celebrating the Fourth of July: What’s not to like about a couple days off work, spending time by an ocean (or a lake or a pool; I’m really not picky), and eating delicious barbecue. It all sounds great… until I remember that I really don't want to spend major dollars on suitably festive apparel I’ll wear once and then bury in my closet for another 364 days.
My gut tells me no one will be surprised that H&M is coming to the rescue with its aptly named 4th It Up collection, complete with affordable apparel ranging from subtly themed pieces to full-on Americana. I haven’t decided how committed I am to the patriotic palette just yet, but in the meantime, I’ve created five cool outfits for the upcoming holiday that are very much free of buyer’s remorse. Now time to shop…
The Mood: When you’re spending the holiday in the city but still would like people to know you’re patriotic AF.
The Outfit: Since you’re not lounging at the beach making s’mores with a bandana in your hair, you’ll want to swap that bikini-and–flip-flops combo for a dress-and-sneaker outfit worthy of a day off work. Layer the knotted tee and retro-tourist-vibe cap for a look that won’t make you miserable in the humidity, and can take you from afternoon hangs to evening fireworks in a snap.
The Mood: When you’re really only showing up because you were promised burgers and ice cream.
The Outfit: To get away with looking on-theme with absolute minimal effort, throw on this little cropped USA cami with your usual go-to summer pieces: clear acetate sunnies, a chic straw tote, white sandals, and tidy denim shorts. The best part is you can reinvent this look all summer long by just rotating in your favorite T-shirt, puffy-sleeve blouse, or scrunch top.
The Mood: When you score an invite on your friend-of-a-friend’s beach party, but there’s no way you plan on being talked into partaking in any water sports.
The Outfit: A beach day requires three things: sand-friendly slides, a tote you can find your sunscreen in, and a cute, protective sunhat that will stay attached to your head. Swap out these cute day shorts for your fave high-waisted denim and you can wear this look all summer long.
The Mood: When you’re hosting this year’s July 4th bash and your invite specifically says, "Dress Code: Red, white, and blue!"
The Outfit: You don't take themes lightly, so now is the time to break out all manner of American attire, sparing no details. Since the epic bash you're throwing will go deep into the evening (because fire works, duh), that NASA sweatshirt you'll tie around your waist all day will become very useful when the sun sets. Plus, the bandana is easily transferable to the body of person who arrives claiming they "forgot" to dress up.
The Mood: When the Fourth of July is not really your thing (but a five-day weekend most definitely is).
The Outfit: You’d rather be spending the long weekend somewhere on the Italian coast, but you’ll settle for your friend’s yacht club. The red-and-white–striped bodysuit in this look says “Hey, I remembered why we’re all here eating an array of barbecue together,” while the accessories say “I’m most definitely prepared to hop on a catamaran, should the opportunity present itself.”

For the longest time, I thought I just wasn't a jeans kind of girl. Crazy, I know. But for most of my life, the only jeans I encountered were the kind that stretched out much like leggings do or worse, were so thin that they revealed everything that lies beneath. While some of those styles are comfy as hell, they just didn't do it for me. So I kind of lost faith in denim altogether for a while, opting instead for trousers and skirts. One day, though, I picked up a pair of vintage jeans and quickly became obsessed with their rigidity and shape. Here were jeans that held everything in place and kept their shape throughout the day. Oh, and they fit so, so well.
I thought it was impossible to find the same vintage-inspired material by shopping brand-new, but I was wrong. It took searching far and wide, but I've finally narrowed in on five of the only denim brands I'll trust for rigid jeans. Thanks to how picky I am when denim-shopping, I've learned how to tell the good from the bad and the rigid from the stretchy.
It's all about the fabric breakdown, so check those labels. One hundred percent cotton (aka zero stretch) is like denim gold in my book, but I've also found that anything 95% cotton makes the cut. I always buy true to size, too, since jeans with a high cotton content are almost guaranteed to stretch out a tad and mold to your body after a few wears.
Ahead, I'm breaking down which brands I can count on and exactly what makes their jeans so rigid.
There's a reason vintage Levi's are the gold standard of rigid jeans, and it's because they take great care to develop their fabrics.
Jill Guenza, global VP of women's design at Levi's, shared, "The perfect rigid fabric is all about comfort and moldable structure. We offer a range of soft yet structured fabrics in our 501s and Wedgie fits, from 100% cotton to a mix of 98% cotton and 2% elastane. The small amount of stretch in our 98/2 fabrics provides just the right amount of comfort while holding and molding like a classic pair of vintage Levi's. However, even our 100% cotton shrink-to-fit fabrics that we offer in 501s and Wedgies have more give than other cotton fabrics because of the special method of weaving."
I adore J Brand's jeans because they're certainly rigid, but the denim itself is thinner than most vintage pairs I own, making them wildly comfortable.
According to the brand, "Our Joan High-Rise Crop in Optic White and the Heather Button Fly-Jean in Overthrow/Electrify are two of our most rigid denim styles at the moment. Rigid technically is 0% stretch so when shopping for rigid jeans you should look for denim with no elastane (stretch). In terms of sizing, its best to buy rigid jeans pretty tight (almost where you have to lie down to get them zipped) as rigid jeans do stretch out after wearing."
Grlfrnd is another favorite of mine because every denim shape across the board is made without stretch. The VP of buying and merchandising, Lauren Yerkes told me that the brand has "a core program that consists of all rigid styles, plus all the key bodies are done in 100% cotton non-stretch. The Karolina group are our best-selling rigid styles, but we also have a rigid stretch program that consists of 1% stretch that still gives it a vintage feel."
Re/Done's line of reclaimed vintage jeans hardly needs an explanation as to why each pair is so high-quality. At a certain point, shopping for vintage jeans became a tiring process. I had to try on every pair I encountered because you never know which could be The One, aka the one pair that ends up fitting you like a glove.
Co-founder Sean Barron shred what it is that you should look for when jeans shopping: "Shoppers should definitely look for a jean that has no give and a bit of weight to the denim. Other than that, it’s about fit. The fit is crucial when shopping for rigid denim. We have so many rigid styles because we want everyone to be able to find the perfect rigid jean for their liking."
Once I slipped into a pair of Re/Dones, I finally understood what all the hype around the brand is about: vintage-quality jeans tailored for a modern shape and fit that you can easily add to cart without lifting a finger.
Agolde is another brand I love because of its commitment to 100% cotton with each new style it makes. Look no further for on-trend shapes that won't actually cost you an arm and a leg.
Every once in a while, a shoe trend comes around that really sticks. You know what I'm talking about? Suddenly, it's the only thing you want to wear or buy. For me, over the past few years, it’s happened with chunky sneakers, mules, PVC sandals, and, most recently, the topic of today’s post: kitten-heel strappy sandals. I simply can’t get enough of them, and seemingly, neither can anyone else on the internet.
As if my own obsession weren’t bad enough, I feel like every time I scroll through Instagram, I come across a new style I'm compelled to add to my collection. While there certainly are the more famous pairs of the season (such as Staud’s and By Far’s iterations), there are countless other options to choose from in a range of colors, silhouettes, and price points, so there’s really no excuse not to get on board. To see and shop some pairs I’m loving right now, and get some styling inspo along the way, just keep scrolling.

When it comes to the most-wanted cult favorite lipsticks in the industry, iconic shades like Pillow Talk and Very Victoria from Charlotte Tilbury are the ultimate currency. Everyone from beauty editors to royals (ahem, Meghan Markle) tout Pillow Talk as a staple bullet within their lipstick wardrobe, and Charlotte Tilbury herself is one of the most highly lauded makeup artists in the business. She's the magic behind many of your fave red carpet and runway moments, including that little thing called the Victoria's Secret Fashion Show.
When we found out the ultimate lipstick queen was launching a brand-new collection inspired by 11 iconic women—from Amal Clooney to Jennifer Aniston—our heart rate immediately spiked. Enter Hot Lips 2, the anticipated successor to the brand's original Hot Lips Lipstick Collection, which launched back in 2016 and was inspired by such notables as Nicole Kidman, Salma Hayek, Emily Ratajkowski, Kim Kardashian West, Victoria Beckham, and Kate Moss.
Additionally, there's an amazing cause involved—as if you didn't need even more incentive to add each of the 11 shades to your shopping cart. "Launching June 20th, Hot Lips 2 will be the ultimate empowering collaboration to inspire #LIPSTICKCONFIDENCE and change lives, benefiting Women for Women International with a truly magical £1 million (aka $1,255,045) pledge to the charity," a press release from the brand states.
Tilbury has been a Global Ambassador for Women for Women International since 2016, committing to helping women survivors of war rebuild their lives, and the pledge is one of the largest corporate donations that the program has received.
“Since I can remember, I have always believed that lipstick has a magical, secret, transformative power," Tilbury explains in the same press release. "I would watch my mother Patsy applying her ruby red lipstick. She would always tell me as she put it on… lipstick is instant glamour and it will take you anywhere! I understood from an early age that lipstick empowers confidence. It was an act of instant beautification, confidence, and strength! It pulled her style together and painted on a happiness! At first, it was just my mother’s magic ritual, but soon I observed how it affects other women. There was a psychology to makeup. If you look good, you feel good and the world reacts to you in a powerful way. IT’S HAPPINESS IN A TUBE…”
The Hot Lips 2 Collection is officially available on Charlotte Tilbury's website and Charlotte Tilbury Beauty Wonderlands today, and in all doors from June 27 and onward. Curious to know more about each special shade and what each lipstick looks like on? Keep scrolling! WWW HQ tried on each of the 11 shades, snapped, selfies, and weighed in with our honest thoughts.
"I don't wear makeup, but I love anything that gives me a natural boost, and this Hydrating Clear Lipstick does just that. My lips feel glossy, and the tone feels right. This product is far beyond anything I've tried thus far. Needless to say, I'm obsessed! " — Samuel Schultz, Video Producer
Charlotte's Inspiration: “Edward Enninful is famous for his lips! He is such an iconic inspiration and I’ve always adored the shape of his lips; photographers are obsessed with them! So, I knew I had to create the best, most moisturizing formula. This timeless, comforting lip conditioner is as clear as Edward Enninful’s vision. Everyone needs this, beautiful, cocooning lipstick in their lives.”
"I love how beautifully the lipstick glided on, and it's the perfect everyday neutral shade when you want that no-makeup makeup look." — Judith Jones, Market Editor
Charlotte's Inspiration: “I have always had a magical connection with J.K. Rowling, she is an inspirational icon to me. I have often used Bitch Perfect and Pillow Talk on her, and so I wanted to create a soft, flattering pink-kissed-with-nude that was a magic peaches and cream sister to these two! This shade compliments her flawless complexion and beautiful, piercing blue eyes. It looks great worn as a blush on the cheeks for a fresh, pretty pop of color. This shade will add magic to your every look."
"This is the best take on a bold red that I've tried in a long time. If you're skittish around red lipstick, I'd definitely consider this more approachable. You see the orange and brick tones more in the tube, but when you put on the lipstick, they're a bit subtler. The matte texture feels modern, but not very drying, though a layer of moisturizer under the lipstick helps for a super-smooth application." — Kat Collings, Editor in Chief
Charlotte's Inspiration: “This is a universally-flattering, dynamic daytime red with the most wearable tawny orange-red tones. This is another nuance of red! It has a modern matte texture that is so easy to build – you can wear this on the red carpet, on a date or to an interview! This color really brightens Susan Sarandon’s complexion and complements her auburn locks and big brown eyes perfectly. It is a versatile, accessible red that is super-flattering for all skin tones. It’s the ultimate chic red.”
"I reached for Dancefloor Princess—a name I really responded to. While I dig the pinky-peachy hue (and the association with its namesake, Kyle Minogue), the finish is more iridescent than I would normally wear." — Michelle Plantan, Executive Director of Creative Strategy
Charlotte's Inspiration: “This dreamy, pretty, ’60s cool-girl, pop-pink lipstick is a hit with every skin tone. We’ve worked together on everything from magazine covers to album covers, and I am always inspired by Kylie Minogue’s classic beauty… she’s the ultimate dancefloor princess. Kylie wanted to have a luminous soft pearl running through the shade to create the illusion of fuller, wider-looking lips. This cool pink shade looks great with a smokey eye.”
"It's no secret that Amal Clooney is the epitome of elegant, timeless style, and this lipstick shade embodies just that. Amazing Amal is the perfect shade of berry-pink that I've been searching for, and the smooth texture gives you a flawless hue on a single swipe. If you're looking for an everyday color or maybe a little something to accentuate your natural rouge lip, this is the shade for you." — Schuyler Youngstrom, Partnerships Manager
Charlotte's Inspiration: “Amal Clooney is the most inspiring, incredible role model. She has such a timeless poise and elegance, and she wears makeup in a very chic, effortless way! I wanted to create a soft elegant, berry-pink with the neutral-ness of warm berry, that can be used as a stain, or to add an enlivening pop of color to any outfit. Amal would wear this to a red carpet or to make a speech.”
"I tried the shade called Angel Alessandra, and I love this nude-ish shade with my skin tone. It was very smooth, creamy, and very hydrating for my chapped lips, haha!" — Darin Medina, Financial Operations Manager
Charlotte's Inspiration: “Alessandra is the ultimate angel, and this is the ultimate angel beauty secret! It has this fresh, sheer, juicy texture that enhances your tan, and makes you look glowing and gorgeous in seconds. I created this perfect sunset, peachy nude that makes lips look instantly fuller and wider, and completely naturally gorgeous like Alessandra Ambrosio. It lifts the complexion! A lot of people with deeper, tanned complexions struggle to find the perfect nude, as it can wash them out… This is the perfect nude lip they’ve been looking for!”
"It's always been a lifelong dream of mine to be (or at least to channel) Rachel Green, and this Jen Aniston–inspired lipstick from Charlotte Tilbury might be the closest I ever get. I'm generally not a matte lipstick kind of girl (I need some sheen!), so I love the extra hit of hydration and subtle shine the brand's iconic K.I.S.S.I.N.G. formula provides. "As for the color, it's perfect. Variations of rose are my go-to when it comes to lipstick—seriously, my top three shades all have the flower somewhere in the name—and this tube stuck out to me because its dusky hint pretty much looks like my lips, just a few octaves intensified. It's a great middle ground if I want to look like myself, but maybe just a tiny bit better, and I'd easily wear it both to the office or for a night out. Plus, has anyone else mentioned how great these lipsticks smell?!" — Erin Jahns, Associate Beauty Editor
Charlotte's Inspiration: “Jennifer Aniston is known for her lit-from-within goddess glow—she’s a Queen of Glow! And so, looking at her sun-kissed complexion, I wanted to create a tawny beachy rose that would complement her effortlessly beach-but-chic vibe. This is a universal color that looks good on everyone! It enlivens the complexion to give you instant looking health! This shade looks flattering on everyone, everywhere. If you have hazel green eyes or blue eyes, the beachy rose will add a pop of color to the face and it will make your eyes look brighter! The texture is SO fresh. Whether you’re on the red carpet or going for tea, it brings the beach in a glowing, sophisticated way!”
"I normally go for darker colors since I’m lazy and just do a statement lip and mascara most days, but I decided to go for a more neutral, softer shade. It’s a little bit more coral, orange-y on me than it looks in the tube, but I think it’s just the right amount of color. Plus, the brighter shade is great for summer." — Sarah Yang, Managing Editor of The Thirty
Charlotte's Inspiration: “Carina’s Star, inspired by Carina Lau, is a wearable, fresh, illuminating, modern peachy soft coral that transports you to a magical land of stardom! The nuanced color enlivens the lips and has a subtle brightening effect, while the modern matte texture makes the lips look instantly fuller and wider. It’s a pop of color that suits every skin toneand looks good on everyone from 18-80.”
"I love this lip color. A little goes a long way. It's not too drying like other lipstick brands. It's subtle, soft and not too bright for my skin tone. It's perfect for a casual work day, and it's safe to say I'm obsessed with it!" — Kia Topps, People & Culture Coordinator
Charlotte's Inspiration: “Viva La Vergara is inspired by vibrant energy and sensuality. It is a flattering soft wine shade; the perfect wearable nuanced color like my best-selling Walk of Shame shade. I worked closely with Sofia Vergara to come up with this color. It has a painterly texture that blends with the natural pigment in your lips and sets beautifully.”
"As a non-lipstick wearer, I was pleasantly surprised by this product. I went with the shade I'm in Love with Olivia, and I have to say, I am. It went on super smooth and felt hydrating. I typically struggle with this weird issue with lipstick where it won't apply to the inner portion of my pout but had no issue with this one. I'm even tempted to try the bolder colors." — Alex Flowers, Affiliate Manager
Charlotte's Inspiration: “Everyone is in love with this super-flattering, sumptuous pink. It is so effortlessly polished and stylish! Olivia Palermo is the queen of style, and this lip is the perfect accessory to every outfit because it looks amazing on everyone! It’s your lips but better! You will be pretty in pink with this lip.”
"While I typically opt for Fenty's Gloss Bomb, I was pleasantly surprised by Charlotte Tilbury's classic red shade. To be honest, rarely do I find a red color that fits my complexion; some either make me look vampish or clownish. But Patsy Red feels like the right mix between a pop of color, with a touch of class—plus it survived 30 minutes of me trying to find my selfie light and a chocolate glazed donut. " — Jasmine Fox-Suliaman, Community Manager
Charlotte's Inspiration: “I always say everyone should be more Patsy so, I created this lipstick in homage to my glamorous mother Patsy Tilbury!! She is one of my biggest inspirations and has always been full of great beauty advice!! She introduced me to the positive, powerful world of makeup and beauty. I remember watching her from a very young age, with her perfectly painted red nails applying her red lipstick, she would never leave her house without makeup on!! She taught me about the confidence-boosting powers that wearing makeup brings and how she felt instantly empowered the moment she put on her favorite red lipstick!! She always says, a red lip can take you anywhere!!! And this is an iconic, statement red lip! It’s instant glamour in a tube!! It instantly brightens and pulls an outfit together.”. When my friend Sisilia Piring first mentioned to me that she planned to live out of a camper van while traveling across the country for an entire year, my first thought was how cool the trip sounded. Immediately after, my second thought was how in the world she could pack for a road trip like this. Coming up with fresh outfits while traveling on a short trip is difficult enough as it is, but factor in the length of her trip (an entire year) and the fact that Piring's vintage 1966 camper is just 10 feet long (space is quite limited), and you have yourself the ultimate challenge in how to pack for a road trip.
I caught up with her when she'd been on the road for five months, driven over 4600 miles, and visited 24 states. Nearly halfway through her trip, she shared all her packing knowledge with me—everything from the capsule wardrobe she hit the road with initially to how she keeps her outfits looking so fresh despite having to re-wear the same few pieces. Whether or not you're planning an extended trip like hers, everyone could stand to learn from her expert packing tips.
Ahead, read about how she approached packing for her yearlong road trip across the U.S., and shop pieces she finds essential.
"I only brought my favorite things—my two my favorite Re/Done jeans, three of my favorite T-shirts, one dress, two jumpsuits, a vintage blazer, jackets, and a few other essentials."
See her blazer, jeans, and T-shirt in action:
Jeans, a tee, and a blazer are a fail-safe combo, no matter what season, occasion, or environment you find yourself in.
Piring made sure to pack a few of her go-to graphic tees to add interest to even the simplest of outfits.
Pro tip: It's all in the accessories.
She went for a monochrome base to make her trusted checked blazer feel brand-new.
"I knew I couldn't bring too many purses or shoes since they take up more space and weight, so I had to limit myself to those few things I mentioned earlier. It turned out not to be terribly hard to do since we sold about 90% of everything we owned before we left for our trip, which helped a ton in my decision making."
See and shop her essential bags and shoes:
A classic handbag like this Chanel one makes any outfit look polished.
At least one fun bag option deserved a spot in her camper.
White sneakers are a staple in Piring's travel wardrobe.
I love how she's able to find both dressier and more casual ways to wear these mules.
"For me, adding some of my favorite pieces with an unexpected print or color gives it a fresh feel. Likewise, pairing things with different accessories and an unexpected shoe are always fantastic options and makes the pieces I wear constantly feel new again."
Also available in more sizes.
"I knew going into this trip that I wanted to thrift in all of the cities we were going to visit. So with that in mind, I didn't bring a whole lot to begin with."
"I bought a five-pack of them, and my family and friends are always surprised by how many clothes I'm able to pack in the camper. They'll see a small packing cube and are surprised that when I open it up, there are five dresses, two jeans, two shirts, and a hoodie in one, but when it's packed up, it's a tiny little cube and hardly takes up any space.
"I pack a lot of the clothes I know I'm not going to wear in those packing cubes and pack them away for when I have a closet sale. Clothes are constantly moving in and out of my camper. I also donate a lot to thrift shops and give a lot away to my family and friends I see while on this trip so I can thrift more, ha!"
Shopping for jeans isn’t easy for anyone—our bodies are all so different that it’s tough to find a truly perfect pair straight off the rack. That’s where having a great tailor comes in handy, but it also helps to know which brands best fit you, requiring only a little tailoring if any at all.
I find my body type particularly tough to shop for: I have skinny legs and a small waist but a more pronounced butt than most people expect. This means that most jeans I try on are either too big in the waist or too tight in the rear. But after plenty of trial and error, I’ve finally learned which brands and styles are ideal for me (and other women with this dilemma).
To save you all those extra trips to the fitting room (or the endless online returns), I’m sharing my favorites for this body type below.

Girlfriend jeans are a great option for girls like us, as they offer a little more room in the butt/thigh area but aren't as roomy as their boyfriend counterparts. BDG makes the perfect pair.
Cropped flare shapes can be particularly flattering on us, especially on days when we want to minimize our behinds, as the exaggerated lower cut distracts from other proportions. But sometimes their waists are too wide, a problem this M.i.h pair avoids.
Fact: J Brand makes great jeans for girls like us across the board, as they tend to stretch easily in all the right places without ever looking strained. This high-rise pair is particularly flattering since it sits at the natural (and thus smaller) waist.
Levi's, like J Brand, is another great brand for us across the board. The jeans are so well made that they retain their waist (seen here in my beloved high-rise style) while still providing enough stretch in the rear to be comfortable.
Jeans from Joe's were literally made for girls like us, and it shows when you try them on. They're great for those who prefer a standard waist height or are a little tired of high-rise everything.
As previously mentioned, cropped flares are a great choice for us, and these cult-favorite Rachel Comey's are a match made in heaven. Their waist sits higher than most and is smaller as a result; meanwhile, everything beneath that is just a tad roomier than most flares. Match made in heaven.
Like Joe's, Uniqlo has our body type down to a science, the result of which is the Ultra Stretch series. Despite their lower price tag, these jeans last forever, providing the perfect amount of stretch in the rear without looking, well, stretched out. If your waist is on the extra-small side, you may need these tailored, but I promise it's worth it.
I couldn't round out this list without including my go-to pair, these cropped Rag & Bone flares. They're high-waisted but not too high that they feel like a major statement, allowing for more room in the rear while staying perfectly slim and polished in the leg.
