Wendy finds inspiration in art, nature, culture, architecture, food, people, and music. And for her, fashion is a compilation of all that. Fashion is a vehicle for her to play with shapes and colors in order to uncover her personal style. Even though she is inspired by images she see on the runways, she is more captivated by images she see on the streets.
Happy Friday everyone! A few items that I think everyone has in their closet and I love putting these three timeless pieces together – a leather jacket, a zip up hoodie, and a pair of distressed jeans.
The faux leather or leather jacket, it’s a must-have! I’ve had this BLANKNYC faux leather jacket (under $100) for over two years now and it’s an absolute gem! Highly reviewed and high quality, I love the asymmetric neckline, tailored fit, and zip accents. Next, a hoodie. For those comfort-is-key days, oh-not-my-day days, college days, wish-I-was-back-in-college days, for basically everyday, a hoodie is key. This ASOS zip up hoodie (under $25) is super comfy! Great for lounging around, coffee runs, casual days, and all days. And last but not least, a great pair of distressed black jeans! A true classic! These Topshopjeans (under $75) has chic factor written all over it. The shredded details make them standout from the traditional black skinny jeans, but they’re still as versatile.
These three items when paired together create a super comfy outfit. Topping it off with a pair of beautiful boots and statement earrings, the complete look exudes an effortless attitude!
Have a great weekend and thank you so much for reading!

Happy Wednesday everyone! As you can see, my love for blazers run deep. And plaid and check blazers?! Yes please and can I have another! I’ve always been in love with the boyfriend style blazer, as seen here in classic black and here in check print, and today is another dedication to this love. Today though, the shape is stronger, fabrication heavier, and length longer… a spring refresh on the classic boyfriend cut. A blend of beautiful rose, light-gray, and navy, this plaid blazer is great with skirts and shorts all the way to skinny jeans and slim tailored pants.
Hope you’re having a great week so far and thank you so much for reading!
Happy Monday everyone! Another spring trend (and honestly when is this not a trend for spring) that reappears every season is print mixing. Personally, I adore this styling. It’s fun, whimsical, and happy. Print mixing can be a combination of stripes with florals, stripes with polka dots, florals with florals, and more. What I think is key to creating a harmonious print mixing combination is the color story. A cohesive color palette anchoring on a few colors. For this floral mix, I’m using mainly pinks and blues with a Topshop blouse and Veronica Beard skirt, and tying it together with a nude bag.
Below are a few of my favorite floral pieces for spring and beyond!
:: Best of Florals ::
Under $60 :: Nasty Gal petals high-low dress | Topshop pink floral blouse | BP. floral print romper | ASOS asymmetric floral dress | Nasty Gal emerald pussybow floral dress | Zara floral pleated dress
Last but not least, thank you so much for your kind and encouraging words on my last blog post. Truly, thank you. It’s just a few detours and speed bumps on the road. I’m working on getting things realigned so we can move forward. Again, thank you so much for your kindness and support. And as always, thank you so much for reading!
Happy Friday everyone! Lately, I just feel like I’m running in place. For some reason the wheel is turning fast, but I’m not going forward. Colin and I joke, every morning we tell ourselves… we’re not taking an L today. L for loss.
Small L’s for the day includes… in the middle of doing my makeup I realize I ran out of q-tips, new boots on trying to leap over an ice patch and gracefully kissed the ground, hailing a cab and it picks up the person in front. Just not my day. Or days.
Bigger L’s includes… facing new challenges with my documentary on human sex trafficking, hitting major roadblocks with a new project that’s very dear to my heart, feeling unworthy, and feeling hopeless. I’m working on the bigger L’s. The puzzle pieces are not fitting as I’ve hoped, but I’m working on them day and night. As for feeling unworthy and hopeless… I just have to turn the No’s into Not Now’s.
On the days when I’m taking too many L’s, I go to my default happy place. Fashion. Crazy town fashion as Colin calls it. It’s a day where I let myself go free. To give myself permission to be carefree, to play, and to go crazy. To imagine whatever and to wear whatever that inspires the inner child in me. And today that child is stuck somewhere between Atomic Blonde (the movie) and Cinderella. A tough yet feminine pairing – a mix of combat military boots with a tulle skirt. And yes, I walked out of the apartment like this. Walked to lunch, to grab coffee, and to the flower market. I’m not taking another L today.
Thank you so much for reading and have a great weekend! I hope your week was full of W‘s. For winning. Again, thank you so much for reading and talk soon!
Happy Wednesday everyone! A quick hello and hope you’re having a great week so far!
Mixing all of my favorites – plaid, stripes, and embellishments – for a polished yet fun look today. That’s what I love about boyfriend jeans. They look great with sneakers, but can be dressed up with a pair of heels.
Happy Monday everyone! With Fashion Week wrapping up (Paris Fashion Week ends tomorrow), I love revisiting all of the imaginative runway pieces and then reinterpreting these themes for my own personal style. One runway styling that I see over and over again, and absolutely love, is the oversized shape. Notice that I didn’t say trends… I find that trends come and go, but certain shapes and silhouettes are truly timeless. Remember the color-blocking trend? It’s back. And polka dots? Did it ever leave?! When done right, color-blocking is always stunning. And polka dots? I’ll take some now and years from now please. Honestly, trends are great source references, but reinterpreting these trends in a personal way brings life to fashion.
Now back to oversized shapes, particularly oversized blazers… this style is truly an essential closet item. Lasting through the decades, strong blazers graced the runway this season at the Marc Jacobs, Calvin Klein, and Isabel Marant shows. A very wearable interpretation of this runway favorite is the boyfriend blazer. Oversized and oversized just enough. I love this Bardot boyfriend blazer (another great option, this Topshop boyfriend blazer). I adore the strong shoulders, double-breasted styling, and longer length. It looks great when worn open, buttoned, and belted. With oversized shapes, I love pairing soft details to add contrast and statement pieces to add more depth to the overall look. For this boyfriend blazer, it’s the lace turtleneck for contrast and the slouchy boots for depth.
Hope you had a great weekend and thank you so much for reading! And special thanks to Nordstrom for partnering on this post!
Happy Friday everyone! It’s nice and comfortable enough not to wear a coat! Yas!!! Spring is also here! Bright and cheery, a lot of red on red action today. I love sweater dresses for spring (and fall!) and this one has a sporty casual chic vibe, and the best part, it’s reversible! As you probably already know, I love creating monochromatic looks. Adding this one to the list =)
And also, the Shopbop sale is still going strong. With that said, I thought it might be helpful to create a list of top items that will help reboot your spring wardrobe from the sale. From updated outerwear to colorful shoes to simple fun pieces, these items below will help add life and color to your closet!
:: Top 7 Styles & Items to Refresh Your Spring Wardrobe ::
Style #1 The Updated Trench Coat | Helmut Lang trench – From the polished belt to the snap closure, I love how utilitarian and fresh this trench coat looks and feel.
Style #2 The Colorful Mules | Sam Edelman mules* – What better way to welcome spring than a pair of vibrant colorful shoes! These red mules are great with jeans and also works well with skirts.
Style #3 The Hem Detail | AG denim* – The denim silhouette for spring is the unfinished-finished look. Asymmetrical hem details or raw step hems, this style is great with pumps and equally chic with sneakers.
Style #4 The Floral Dance | Keepsake dress* – Light floral dresses that have loads of movement! Floral is always a good idea for spring.
Style #5 The Structured Bag | M2MALLETIER bag* – Structured bags came and stayed! For spring though, couple this style with a pop of color.
Style #6 The Graphic Tee | Unfortunate Portrait tee* – this is a fun one! I love pairing whimsical graphic tees with simple jeans for a casual look and with high-waisted leather pants or skirts for an elevated city vibe.
Style #7 The High-Waisted | Marissa Webb shorts* – A paper bag high-waisted silhouette + ruffles = laid-back luxe! The high-waisted style looks amazing when paired with simple items such as a plain white tee or a low cut v-neck.
Happy Wednesday everyone! A little ruffle on ruffle action today with a polka dots one shoulder top and suede ruffle mules. On top of the puff sleeves and ruffles throughout, this top is set on an asymmetrical peplum shape which makes it super frame hugging and flattering! It’s beautiful for spring and definitely summer. I can’t wait to restyle it with skirts and shorts!
Just as a midweek boost, one of the best sales is happening right now! Shopbop is having a massive sale up to 25% off. What I love most about this sale is that it comes with very few brand restrictions and can be applied to full-price and sale items. For example, these designer pieces – Chanel, Louis Vuitton, Fendi, and more – are 25% off. Below are my favorite picks from the sale.
Shoes :: Stuart Weitzman over-the-knee boots (a must-have!) | Rag & Bone booties (super comfy and great for travel!) | Robert Clergerie patent booties (wish these were in my size!) | Soludos sneakers (casual and chic!) | Zespa nude sneakers (love this nude rose color!) | Stuart Weitzman classic strappy sandals (a must-have!) | Aquazzura cut-out sandals (great for spring and summer!)
Spring. Well kind of. Winpring (winter + spring) in Amsterdam. The weather still has the crisp bite of winter but the freshness of spring. My way of compromising, spring inside and winter on the outside. Spring to me equals lace (latest blog post in Forever 21 lace) and that theme continues today with this lace red dress. A voluminous skirt combined with a tiered hem design finished with ruffle sleeves, this crimson piece is the perfect vacation day dress and date night look. And because of the guipure lace fabric, it also works well for cold weather occasions. The weight of the lace pairs harmoniously with other soft textured fabrics like suede and wool. For this winspring look, I coupled the dress with suede over-the-knee boots and a military coat for warmth and to add a masculine contrast to the sweet lace.
We were flying from London to Amsterdam and as I was sitting there in my seat, I had a moment where I completely zoned out with a deep sense of gratitude. I didn’t have much growing up and always looked to the sky to imagine a brighter future. Every time a plane flew by, I always thought what it would be like to be in one of those. Now every time I fly, I count my blessings. I was almost homeless at 18 and now I get the privilege of sitting there admiring the clouds. The universe works in strange ways. And I count my blessings everyday. For the cats in my life and for the humans in my life.
Thank you for being on this journey with me, and as always, thank you so much for reading! Hope you had a great weekend!
Hi everyone and greetings from Amsterdam! It’s our first time in Amsterdam and wow! Incredibly beautiful! We were advised that the best way to enjoy the city is to walk around, and walk around we did. A lot of walking. I’m so glad I packed these boots and coat. Both kept me warm and comfy throughout our trip. And as you can see, my teddy coat obsession continues (last seen in these blog posts here & here)! This time, a shorter peacoat version. If you enjoy this length and style, below are a few of my favorites!
Urgh we forgot to write the date on the lock! But thank goodness for blogging right? This blog post is basically a timestamp for it and we promise ourselves to go back to Amsterdam to add the anniversary date next time!
Have a great weekend and thank you so much for reading!
