Ruisrock Festival will be celebrated for the 50th time this year. For three days, Turku is expecting as many as 100,000 festival visitors who will enjoy music, art, activities, surprises and have a good time together at the national park of Ruissalo.

Turku offers city culture events and happenings to all tastes in June. Turku Airshow is the special event of the month, and a new festival called Kesärauha will also take place in June. Furthermore, the new season of the summer theatres will also be launched.

Finnish Schlager music festival Iskelmäkesä launches the season of music events by bringing Laura Voutilainen and Eppu Normaali, among others, to the Varvintori square. Children’s own rock festival Seikkisrock will get the public raise their hands up in Seikkailupuisto in the Kupittaa park.

The annual opening ceremony of the River Harbour, the River Harbour Festival, which will be organized already for the 9th time, will launch the marine summer of happenings of the City of Turku between the 23rd and the 26th of May 2019. Most of the 60 happenings of the long weekend are free of charge.

- This is one of those weekends, when you should go to the river shore of the River Aura with the whole family. You can participate in walking tours, stop to listen to the music at the stage of Suomen Joutsen or to visit the children’s new maritime museum Tyrskynmyrsky in the Forum Marinum Maritime Centre, advises Eevi Rannikko, the Executive Producer of the event.

Turku is a European city of culture where fresh sea winds, breath of history and modern bustle are side by side. In the summer the amount of events multiplies and Turku offers city culture, festivals and food and sports events in splendid settings.

One of the great weekends in the summer is from 14 to 16 June when there are several interesting events in the city at the same time. The 100th Anniversary Airshow of Finnish Aeronautical Association, Turku Airshow 2019, takes place in the sky of Turku and the venue is at the airport. At the same time, a new Kesärauha (Summer peace) festival is arranged in the atmospheric Old Great Square.

When summer arrives, maritime Turku will show its best. The events will bring the maritime and archipelago atmosphere as far as the city centre. In addition to the riverside of the River Aura, the location of maritime events is the historical area of Ruissalon telakka (Ruissalo boatyard), which has become a popular venue.

The boating season of the summer will be opened by Pax Navis event, which invites boaters and the friends of the Archipelago Sea to attend the Declaration of Seafaring Peace at the Ruissalo boatyard on Thursday 23 May from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. The event will offer music and other programmes as well as information about water travel and the Archipelago Sea. The free event is open for everyone and accessible by land and by water. The aim is to create a yearly tradition connecting people travelling by water and in the archipelago.
