Hadyn Hilton is our incredible guest today. She is the 26-year old owner and founder of Java Cats Café, Georgia’s first cat café located in the heart of Atlanta.

Though Hilton’s degree and career path was slated for the film industry, Hadyn decided to drop everything to open a business revolving around one of her favorite things: cats! Facing many hurdles in order to open her business, she enjoys encouraging other entrepreneurs to start their journey and gives advice about being a young female business owner in a male-dominated society.

Java Cats Café has been a huge success for cat adoptions and has an established following all across the US and several countries around the world.

Hadyn started a woman-only entrepreneur and business owner Facebook Group called Java Cats Creatives Group. There are a number of members from outside of the Atlanta area!

Fundamentally Feline helped design the Java Cats Café’s Cat Lounge. Ingrid Johnson is the woman behind Fundamentally Feline.

PAWS Atlanta provides the cats for Java Cats Café. Java Cats adopted nearly 200 cats in their first nine months, making a huge impact on PAWS Atlanta’s cat adoptions.

Nancy and Harold have been busy with lots of cats and dogs, including Sugar the Dog. Stay up to date on Instagram.

TNR stands for Trap, Neuter, Return (or Release). It is the method to help feral or community cat populations.

After adopting an Irish sight hound, her dog Lily, Laura Schenone discovers a remarkable and little-known fight to gain justice for dogs and for all animals.

Greyhounds, bred to be the fastest dogs on earth, are beautiful, gentle, and astonishing creatures. Yet for decades, countless numbers of them have been abandoned and destroyed every year once they can no longer compete and win.

The Dogs of Avalon introduces us to the strong-willed Marion Fitzgibbon, born in rural Ireland, where animals are valued for their utility. But Fitzgibbon believes suffering is felt by all creatures and champions the cause of strays, baffling those around her—including her family—as she, and a group of local women rescue any animal in need, taking on increasingly risky missions.

Palomacy is a network of volunteers working together to save the lives of domestic, unreleasable pigeons and doves that would otherwise be killed in shelters for lack of adopters. Volunteers respond to calls from shelters, vets, and good samaritans to provide avian vet care for ill or injured birds, long-term foster care, and to develop adopters and place them into qualified forever homes.

Author and former U.S. Marine Craig Grossi shares the story behind his book “Craig & Fred: A Marine, A Stray Dog, And How They Rescued Each Other.” Goes on sale Tuesday, October 31, 2017!

In 2010, Sergeant Craig Grossi was doing intelligence work for Marine RECON—the most elite fighters in the Corps—in a remote part of Afghanistan. While on patrol, he spotted a young dog “with a big goofy head and little legs” who didn’t seem vicious or run in a pack like most strays they’d encountered. After eating a piece of beef jerky Craig offered—against military regulations—the dog began to follow him. “Looks like you made a friend,” another Marine yelled. Grossi heard, “Looks like a ‘Fred.'” The name stuck, and a beautiful, life-changing friendship was forged.

Fred not only stole Craig’s heart; he won over the RECON fighters, who helped Craig smuggle the dog into heavily fortified Camp Leatherneck in a duffel bag—risking jail and Fred’s life. With the help of a crew of DHL workers, a sympathetic vet, and a military dog handler, Fred eventually made it to Craig’s family in Virginia.
