I have had this eyeshadow palette and it has been killing me not to crack into it. But, for the good of the blog, I waited until I could take pictures of it and now, I will dive right into it. Although I only have one other Natasha Denona palette and she’s a mini too (review here), I love it and the quality is unmatched.

Today I’ll be showing, swatching, and doing a look on the Natasha Denona Mini Nude Eyeshadow Palette.

I’m not sure there’s much better than cracking into a brand new neutral eyeshadow palette and knowing the quality of Natasha Denona eyeshadows, this one makes me tingle all over.

This palette contains 5 mini eyeshadows; 2 mattes, 2 metallics, and 1 duo chrome. These eyeshadows are about 1/4 the size of full-size Natasha Denona eyeshadows. I don’t mind how small they are because it’s so rare for me to go through an eyeshadow, let alone an eyeshadow palette.

It came by absolutely no surprise but I LOVE these eyeshadows. They are absolutely stunning. The pigmentation is there, they blend super well. One of my biggest peeves with eyeshadows is when they blend into each other and end up looking all the same. This palette doesn’t do this at all. The mattes blend super nicely.

The matte shades did have some kick back when I dipped my brush into them but, as long as they blend well, that’s not something I really worry about.

One thing I did notice that the metallic and duo chrome shades were messy to pick up with a brush. I find that to be the case with most, if not all, glittery shades and I prefer to apply them with my finger anyways. They go on so nice and buttery.

I so want to purchase a full size Natasha Denona eyeshadow palette but the price just kills me. It’s sooo tempting though.

Have you tried any Natasha Denona Eyeshadows?

Most of us have our own little routine when it comes to beauty. Our routine may take us 5 minutes or 5 hours but, we have all been guilty a time or two of forgetting something, skipping something over completely or just not knowing how to apply something correctly! I, personally, have been guilty of all of there.

Although some of these beauty crimes may be totally harmless, but some can lead to irritation, breakouts, and uneven looking skin.

Today, I’ll be going over some beauty crimes you may be committing give you a bit of advice on how to rectify them.

First beauty crime is a big one and one that I committed for years; using skincare not appropriate for your skin type. There are a few types of skin: normal, dry, oily, combination, and sensitive. Does your skin get oily all over after a few hours? Do you just get oily in your t-zone? Does it feel like a cold drink of water when you apply moisturizer? All of these questions can determine your skin type! Do your research before you buy your skincare. And be sure to by products that will work for your skin.

Exfoliate, exfoliate, exfoliate! You should get exfoliating everything. Your face, your body, your lips. Depending on your skin depends on how often you can exfoliate so listen to your skin when it talks. Exfoliating helps eliminate dead skin cells that sit on your skin. This helps your skin to look smoother and your makeup to apply better. The same goes for your lips. Sorry to say it but lipstick doesn’t look amazing on cracked, dry lips. There are a ton of exfoliators on the market and even DIY ones that are everywhere on the internet.

Colour matching with foundation can be tricky business. With all the different shades, different undertones, and all that. The best piece of advice I can give you is, well, first off to test out the colour. Second, the best place to test our if the foundation is the right colour is actually your jawline. Testing out foundation colour on your hand is a waste of time. Hold your hand up to your face, they are completely different colours. Mismatched foundation is never a good look.

If you didn’t know, I’m here to tell you, makeup expires folks. Yes, all makeup expires. Obviously cream products expire quicker than powder products but eventually, they all go bad. There are a ton of posts on what expires when but I will tell you, mascara expires in 3 months from opening and foundation expires 3 months from opening. Now, you may be saying, who cares? But, using expired products on your face can cause irritation and breakouts. I’ve personally had a stye on my eye from using a dumb expired liquid eyeliner. Stay woke folks.

The last beauty crime I’ll talk about today is another big one. Please, for the love of god, take off your makeup before you go to bed. Not only is it a little gross but haven’t product on your face for that long can, again, cause irritation. It can clog your pores, make your skin create more oils because it’s trying to product itself, and breakout. It can also irritate your eyes to not remove your eye makeup. Every time I accidentally fall asleep with my makeup on, it’s a giant face palm and I take my ass to the bathroom to remove it immediately.

This post isn’t meant to throw shade in any way. I have and continue to commit some of these crimes. I want us all to be the most amazing we can be and hopefully this helped!

If you want to know any more beauty crimes I think some of us may be committing, let me know!

Have you committed any of these crimes? Leave them below!

Skincare is bae. If you disagree with me, you should probably leave. I’m joking (I’m not). But, I can turn you into someone who doesn’t really care about skincare into a fanatic. I’m absolutely obsessed with trying new skincare to try and find my number 1.

I had gone into Sephora convinced I wanted a certain new night cream. I explained my wants and my skin type to the sales associate and she wanted me to try the Fresh Lotus Youth Preserve Dream Night Cream. She put the cream on my skin and I knew I had to have it.

This is a lightweight, whipped cream that helps detoxify and minimize signs of aging overnight.

This cream contains two powerful ingredients; super lotus and peach leaf extract. The Lotus Plant is one that Fresh uses quite a bit. It has properties that hydrate, boost radiance, and deliver antioxidant protection. The Peach Leaf Extract helps skin look fresh and refreshed. It helps the actual cream to smell a little bit like peach.

It is $60 (CAD) and can be purchased at Sephora here.

This is a nice and thick cream but doesn’t feel super heavy on my skin. For it being such a thick cream, it melts into the skin and absorbs very quickly. When I use this my dull skin is revived and radiant come morning. I feel like this night cream improves my skins elasticity and texture, while leaving it well nourished and smooth. I was able to wake up and feel confident with my radiant skin.

I find the light peach scent with a hint of floral actually really relaxing. It helps calm me at the end of the day.

Have you tried any Fresh products?

Spring is officially here in Halifax (it’s 11 degrees today!!) and summer is approaching quickly. That means, it is about time to dig out your most glowy/JLO products to make you glow to the gods. When it comes to products to make your skin glow, I am a bit high maintenance and use a few products to achieve my desired glow.

Today I’ll be talking all about my favourite glowy makeup products to achieve my best JLO self.

When it comes to foundation/concealer/setting powder, I’m not going to mention any specific product. I just don’t mess with anything too mattifying. Not to mention my skin is super dry but I just don’t love the flat matte look on my skin. I go for more of a dewy or natural finish on my skin.

If I want to add extra glow to my foundation, I will add a liquid highlight or luminizer to my foundation. I find when I do this it gives me a really natural, glow from within sort of look. My favourite product to do this with lately is Maybelline Strobing Liquid in Light. It is absolutely gorgeous when mixed in with foundation.

To give you another glow from within sort of look, the Hourglass Ambient Lighting Powders are absolutely amazing for this. They have 6 different colours in this powder, I have Dim Light. I’ll use this all over my skin to set my makeup if I want extra glow or on the tops of my cheekbones if I want a more subtle highlight.

For the main event, so to speak. Highlighters can come in many different forms. They can be liquid, loose powder, cream, pressed powder, and so many more. You have to choose ones that will flatter your skin colour and tone. My favourite tones are more champagne tones. I also prefer highlights that give you more of a wet look rather than a sparkle look. There are so many options and so many highlighters that I absolutely love but I decided to narrow it down to only a few.

For a drugstore option, Wet N Wild makes the best drugstore highlights in my opinion. I’m absolutely in love with the Wet N Wild Loose Highlight in I’m So Lit. It’s a very finely milled loose highlight and can be more subtle or blinding as heck. Depending on how much you use and how light your hand is, do you girl.

I had been wanting the Jouer Cosmetics Powder Highlighter in Citrine forever because I had seen it online so much. This is a GLOWY highlight. It gives a wet look but also a glow from within look. It is not glittery at all and it’s a very buttery, creamy highlight. You can choose how much you want depending on the heaviness of your hand or the brush you use.

Lastly, as a glowy finisher, I always use a setting spray. I don’t use a mattifying setting spray, just a setting spray. All of these setting sprays are great if you applied too much powder or if you want a more natural look to your makeup. All of these are absolutely amazing at adding that finishing touch of glow. They all do pretty much the same thing but, in order of my favourites would have to be the cult favourite Mac Cosmetics Fix +, Morphe Continuous Setting Mist, and Wet n Wild Photo Focus Setting Spray. I always always always recommend setting your makeup with a spray. It adds that extra oomph.

What are your favourite products to achieve a glowy look? Leave them below!

Yes. I did what I always do which is start something I’m really excited about on my blog, then get busy with life, and put my blog on the back burner. But, I’m back at it with another exciting (DRUGSTORE) Foundation Friday.

This week I’ll be talking about the brand new L’Oreal Infallible 24H Fresh Wear Foundation. And, to go with that, I’ll also give a little snippet of the new L’oreal Infallible Full Wear Concealer.

If you are looking for a great, drugstore foundation for all skin types, this is it! It is a lightweight, fresh, breathable formula. This formula is meant to be 24 hour wear that is waterproof, sweat-proof, transfer-proof. It is a medium-to-full coverage foundation that is buildable.

I don’t remember exactly how much this foundation was but it’s on the pricier side for drugstore. I want to say it was $17-$19. I got mine at Shoppers Drug Mart but have seen it at every drugstore since then.

The foundation has a really nice glass bottle with a great pump.

For a little snippet on the concealer, it is a full-coverage concealer that has an applicator similar to the Tarte Shape Tape concealer. It’s a huge applicator. It is meant to be non-greasy, waterproof, and for the full face. It is also marketed that it can be used on the body to cover bruises, stretch marks, and discolouration.

The first time I used this foundation, I absolutely hated it. It made my skin look cakey and it settled into all of my fine lines. Just for reference, I’m 26 and don’t have crazy fine lines. It make me look older than I am.

What I realized, is I applied too much. The second time I used it, I used less and loved it. That being said, I don’t think this foundation is buildable. I do agree that it’s a medium-to-full coverage. It’s not one of those foundation that is so lightweight that it looks like your not wearing anything but it is a nice satin-matte finish.

It is a really great drugstore option for those who might not know what skin type they have and like medium coverage. I applied this with a sponge, as always. I think with a brush it would make the foundation look way too heavy on my skin.

The concealer, I’m obsessed with. I feel like so many brands are trying to come close to Tarte Shape Tape and this is the closest I’ve tried. Its a gorgeous full-coverage concealer that blends like a dream. It brightens up my under-eyes so well and doesn’t crease under my eyes.

Have you tried this foundation or concealer? What do you think?

With missing my February beauty favourites, this is kind of a combination of two months. Within those two months I went away twice and both to sunny destinations. I went to Miami and the Bahamas and both trips were absolutely amazing. If you want to see what I do on my trips, be sure to follow me on instagram. I post a lot on my stories when I’m on vacation.

I’m also getting more and more into glowy products. I’m going to do a blog post soon on my go-to glow products but until then I’m going to include some glow in my favourites today.

Not only do I have the It Cosmetics Your Skin But Better CC Cream in a travel size, which makes it incredibly easy to travel with, but it’s one of my favourite foundation products. It gives such a nice natural and glowy look to your skin but it has great coverage. The colour range sucks but when I’m tanned I’m in light and when I’m not I’m in fair. I love that it has SPF 50. It makes it the perfect sunny destination foundation.

The GlamGlow Glow Palette has been the highlight of my dreams lately. First of all it smells amazing. It smells like orange creamsicles YUM. Second, it’s a gorgeous highlight whether you like a blinding or a more natural highlight. It can be built up to be so nice and glowy. I have a full review on this palette here.

If you don’t own the Physician’s Formula Butter Bronzer, what are you doing with your life? It’s seriously the best bronzer ever. Not only the best drugstore bronzer but just the best. It’s the perfect tone to bronze but also contour a bit. It smells amazing. It blends like woah. I think I’ve said enough. Go get it now!

I absolutely love facial sprays. So, when I came across the Wet N Wild Photo Focus Primer Water in the Rose scent. I like to use this before my makeup to give a nice little hydration boost and after to set my powder if I overdid it on the powder situation. It makes my skin look so healthy and it smells like roses. It doesn’t smell like gross, overbearing roses but lovely and light roses.

Urban Decay recently came out with the Naked Reloaded palette to replace the original naked and I have been using it non stop. The colours are nice and neutral and they blend out super nicely. The shadows are a bit dusty but I can get past that because they blend so well on my eyes. My favourite shades are angel fire, retro, and burn. I did a full review on this palette here.

Have you tried any of these products?

I don’t know about other people but when I heard the original Urban Decay Naked Palette was being discontinued, I was a little hurt. The Urban Decay Naked Palette was the first high end eyeshadow palette I ever had. My sister bought this for me for my birthday in 2011. I couldn’t have been more excited because I had spent the last 9 months watching YouTube videos.

But, I got excited when Urban Decay announced they were releasing a “Reloaded” version of the original Naked Palette.

So, of course, when it released I had to get it because it looked like my neutral eyeshadow heaven.

First off, let’s talk logistics. This palette costs $55 (CAD) and can be purchased on the Sephora website or on the Urban Decay website. All of the other Naked Palettes are $66 (CAD). The Naked Reloaded palette and all of the other Naked Palettes comes with 12 shades. There was some backlash with this palette because all of the other Naked Palettes come with a brush but I never used the brush and would rather safe $11.

The packaging of this palette also makes me super happy. It’s like a satin cushion package. I actually think this would make it really nice for travelling because the shadows won’t break.

The 4 outer shades on the Urban Decay Naked Reloaded Palette are larger than the others. The brand did this because they think these shades will be used the most. It has a really nice mix of mattes, metallics, and 3D sparkle shades.

Unlike other palettes it contains warm, cool, and neutral shades. A shade that stands out is the bright peach shade called Retro. It’s the only “non neutral” in my opinion but packs a nice punch. I am able to complete an entire eye look with this eyeshadow palette.

All of the shades swatched really nicely. I was especially surprised by the velvet-ness of the matte shades. They just sort of melted onto the skin. The metallic shades were also amazing. With first swatch, the pigmentation made my eyeshadow lover scream. I am glad I swatched these eyeshadows before putting them on my eyes because I noticed they have some fall-out. When you tap your brushes into these eyeshadows, there is definitely some serious kickback. If you use these eyeshadows, I recommend doing your eye makeup before your face makeup.

All of the eyeshadows I used, went really nicely on my eyes. I was able to blend them super easily. I find with some of the other Naked Palettes, the colours blend in to themselves but I didn’t find this with the Naked Reloaded palette. The colours were able to be applied and then blended out without losing the original colour.

I see myself reaching for this palette a lot. With spring and summer coming up, this palette is going to be my most reached for, I predict.

If you’re in the market for a new neutral palette, this one is worth a try!

Week 2 of Foundation Friday is upon us! Finding the perfect foundation for your skin type and what you want can be pure hell. But, I’m willing to do the dirty work for you.

A high coverage, luminous foundation that gives flawless skin is everything we want. Well, everything us dry people want. I feel like Laura Mercier is a well-known complexion brand. If theres one thing they do well it’s complexion products.

So today I’ll be talking about the brand new Laura Mercier Flawless Lumiere Radiance-Perfecting Foundation.

What really hooked my on this foundation is that it’s meant for dry skin people. It’s a luminous foundation that is long wearing, provides hydration, and feels weightless. It’s medium-to-full coverage and has highlighting properties in the foundation. This foundation contains Super Crystal Clear Pearl which is light reflecting. It also contains Silver Ear Mushroom Extract which diminishes the look of fine lines and wrinkles. Lastly, it has Vitamin C which makes skin look brighter and evens out your skin tone.

This foundation is $60 and can be found in stores at Sephora or online here.

I love the luxurious packaging of this foundation. It comes in a nice glass bottle and with a pump. I love a foundation with a pump. I use about 3 pumps of this foundation to get a full coverage.

The coverage of this foundation I would say is medium but can be built up to be full coverage with no problem. It’s more of a thing consistency which I really like because it doesn’t feel heavy on the skin.

The finish is a natural finish on my skin. I love this finish because it makes my skin look like my skin but just flawless. It still shows some flaws, unless I want them covered. If I want a more dewy look, I can add a drop or two of face oil in.

I think it’s safe to say, this foundation is my new favourite and it will take a lot to complete with it. As you can see below, is the foundation with a full face!

What is your favourite foundation?

I feel like the second I turned 26 my skin became dryer and I started to notice more of my fine lines. I especially notice the fine lines under my eyes and would notice them first as soon as I looked in the mirror. I’ve been searching high and low for a solution to my under-eye fine lines problem.

I wanted a really good under eye patch and came across the Peter Thomas Roth 24K Gold Pure Luxury Lift & Firm Hydra-Gel Eye Patches on the Sephora website and decided to give them a try.

These eye contour gel patches are infused with pure 24K gold to help with loss of firmness and signs of aging in as little as 10 minutes. 24K gold is known to firm, lift, brighten, and calm the appearance of skin while adding a glow to your skin. These patches also have hyaluronic and caffeine in them to hydrate and reduce puffiness.

I got 30 patches (15 pairs) on the Sephora website for $25.

I put these on for about 25 minutes when my eyes are feeling a little dehydrated and dull. I was a little skeptical but hopeful when trying these out and I am so happy with these.

When I take these patches off, my under eyes feel firmer and more hydrated. I can’t ask for anything better from an under-eye patch. I also have a huge problem with under-eye circles. No matter how much sleep I get I have dark circles under my eyes and these patches definitely added some brightness to the area.

Have you tried these? What are you favourite under-eye treatments?

This brand has been on the Sephora website for a while now and it struck some curiosity in my makeup-loving mind. From the sleek packaging to the interesting looking products, Stellar Beauty by Monika Deol has been a real hit on the Sephora website.

I’m actually thinking of reviewing a different foundation every Friday. I’ll do it as long as I can get my hands on a new to me foundation every week! If you have any foundations you want to see reviewed on here, let me know!

Today I’ll be focusing on one of their best selling products, the Limitless Foundation.

Stellar Beauty was created by Monika Deal who, a Canadian-Indian, felt there needed to be more of a focus on medium skin-toned people. She created this line for all skin tones but focuses serious attention to medium skin-toned people.

The Limitless Foundation is a natural looking, medium coverage, luminous foundation. It can be built up to be full coverage in the areas you need it to be. It is meant to give the skin a completely uniform and luminous look. It’s an oil-free formula and provides all day wear.

It comes in 22 shades and can be purchased on the Sephora website here.

I totally agree that this foundation is medium-coverage and can be built up. I built up this foundation around my nose and it didn’t look cakey at all. I have such a hard time finding a foundation that doesn’t look dry and cakey 4 hours in to the day. This foundation sat on my skin so nicely and made my skin look so radiant.

It also feels really light on the skin. No one wants to feel like they’re wearing a ton of foundation. I found this foundation also had a bit of a burring effect on my skin.

Although I did love this foundation, I ultimately had to return it because of the colour. I got the colour S03 and it was too dark for me. It was the lightest colour they had with a neutral undertone and I didn’t think another colour would match me.

If you have a darker skin tone than me, I totally recommend this foundation. It’s absolutely gorgeous! I’ll totally be checking out more from this brand.

Have you tried anything from this brand?
