Rock Waves

Like where my grandparents lived

The waves go crashing on the rocks

The cliffs are grey and red

Childrens’ voices ring out clear

As the gulls go ghosting by

The sea feels colder than the blue it looks

Next stop Antarctica helps

In summer ice cream still helps

To calm flustered bodies

A ship sails serenely by

As the seal struggles to grip

On the headland camera shutters click

Capturing the moment.

London Autumn

The park smells of Autumn

As I crash through the leaves

London walker out doing his thing

While others try to get to work

The street lamps are now fading

As the sun thinks of waking up

City squares are buzzing

London lives another day

The river slips quietly by

Taking no notice of the boats

The bridge is now quite steady

Good for another millennium or two

St. Paul’s looks out proudly over its domain

A wink from the Shard reminds it of eternity

Dawn from the

Eye is almost perfect

At the trains come rattling in.

Ensuring the brain injury community has the best support available is exceptionally important to us. With this in mind, we created The Silverlining Charity Affiliated Solicitors Scheme as a point of reference for brain injured individuals looking to find legal representation.

With strict inclusion criteria, we have limited Affiliation to a small pool of firms who are truly committed to supporting clients from across England and Wales throughout their lifetime. Click here to explore our impartial legal advice and meet the team!

We sincerely hope our new guide will help brain injury survivors make an informed choice when seeking legal representation. Should you have any questions about our new Affiliated Solicitors Scheme please email us at admin@thesilverlining.org.uk.

Duke of Cornwall Trophy 2018
Sunday 26th August 2018, 11.00 – 17.00
Guards Polo Club, Smiths Lawn, Windsor Great Park, Egham, TW20 0HP

Visiting Guards Polo Club has become a social and sporting highlight of The Silverlining Summer calendar.

This year we will also be extending our invitation to the service men and women recovering from injury at DMRC Headley Court. We hope it will be a great opportunity to connect with, thank and socialise with, the team before they move to a new military site in the West Midlands.

Whilst the highlight of the day will be a fast paced final played in the late afternoon, there will be plenty of opportunities to explore the grounds, socialise and enjoy a picnic in the sunshine. You are welcome to arrive any time:

11.00am – 11.30am – The Silverlining Charity pitches up, early birds welcome
11.30am – 12.30pm – Qualifying rounds of Polo are played, great watching for the Polo enthusiasts
12.30pm – 2.00pm – Time for a picnic on the lawns, perfect timing for the social butterfly
2.00pm – 4.30pm – The final matches are played and the Duke of Cornwall Trophy is awarded, a spectacle for all

We are really lucky to be able to offer the brain injury community, volunteers and members of the Charity a limited number of free tickets for the event. Large groups of friends and supporters will need to book tickets directly with Guards Polo Club (https://www.guardspoloclub.com/).

For lots more information about travel, booking your tickets and what to expect on the day please visit: https://www.eventbrite.com/e/the-silverlining-charity-visits-the-duke-of-cornwall-trophy-2018-tickets-46979657420

While we are delighted to offer Silverliners this opportunity free-of-charge, hosting this event does come at a cost to ourselves. If able, please consider donating to The Silverlining Charity when booking so we can continue running events like this. Every little truly helps.
