For most of this year the biggest trend has been chrome nails, and now that trend has moved to mainstream brands! Sally Hansen has created this all in one Salon Chrome kit (retails around $15) which can be purchase at many brick and mortar retailers.
I was excited to try this so I made a short demo video:

I like that you get the pigment with a water based top coat water based top coat, as water based top coats/base coats can be hard to find in stores and you need it to seal the pigment before adding regular top coat regular top coat. If you don’t do this step and just add regular top coat the pigment will “lift” and essentially become mixed with the top coat losing the shiny chrome effect. The pigment is decently sized, on par with what you can purchase from other chrome pigment suppliers, although it does seem to have a larger particle size which means you don’t get that super smooth and shiny chrome look. The applicator was a nice try, but useless. Because it’s so thin after a couple of nails it began to fall apart, which means it is a one-time use applicator, although the kit would last you many, many applications, I wound up switching to my own applicator. I followed the directions on the box which says to apply the Miracle gel top coat and then the pigment, but I didn’t find this very effective. I’m not sure of the top coat wasn’t shiny enough or it dried too quickly, but I prefer to use the Mega Shine top coat over the Miracle Gel. Next time I would use a different top coat before adding the pigment to see if I get better results, but otherwise I would purchase the other shades.
Overall: This collection has a variety of nice winter shades. I’m a huge fan of the Infinite Shine line and would definitely recommend getting this line over the regular line, they apply smooth, are pigmented (aside from shades that are more jelly) and dry fast. Most of these shades you can get away with one coat, if you’re in a rush, and would be fully dry within 5 minutes.
For this first look I created a drag marble using Turn on the Northern Lights!, This isn’t Greenland, Less is Norse, and Check out the old Geysirs
For the next look I started with a base of I’ll Have A Gin & Tectonic then created stamp decal using B Polished Midnight in Death Valley with BM-S177 and Aurora Berry-Alis,One Heckla of A Color, and Reykjavik Has All The Hot Spots.
For the final look I created with this collection I used Icelander A Bottle of Opi, Krona-Logical Order, Suzi & The Arctic Fox, and That’s What Friends Are Thor for this café au lait watermarble.
Today I have a different kind of post, lately as I have been doing a lot of small projects around the house as well as gardening it’s been hard to keep my nails looking nice. So to get my “beauty fix” I’ve rekindled my passion for makeup. I was lucky enough to receive some samples of Jesse’s Girl makeup, which is available in select stores or on the Jesse’s Girl website, and I have been LOVING it!

These fluid shadows have a thin consistency and quick dry down. However, because they are thin, they aren’t heavily pigmented and can be patchy. They take several layers to build up color and overall I’m not a big fan of them (although I prefer powder shadows or liquid anyways).
Our unique Japanese calligraphy-style brush allows for precise, super-fine application that lets you create lines as small as one millimeter thickness! Combined with a formula that dries super-quick for a smudge-proof application, our liquid eyeliner glides on smoothly without tugging or pulling.
I LOVE this black liner it glides on smooth and inky, without being runny or smearing. For the price it’s one of the best drugstore liners. The white liner on the other hand I am not a fan of, if has a felt tip applicator, unlike the brush in the black liner, and applies very patchy and it’s hard to get a smooth constant line.
Dream Girl is a collection of nine shadows, mostly shimmers with 3 mattes. I love the colors in this palette, but they are not pigmented at all. I you like a softer look these are nice, they blend well and deposit enough color to get a smokey eye. But, if you are look for a bold look these are a pass.

The Highlight and Contour Palette features four contour shades to help create realistic shadows to create perfectly sculpted features, and four highlight shades designed to give you a radiant glow.
These velvety-smooth, buildable powders blend effortlessly into the skin for a flawless finish that flatters every skin tone and face shape.
This Highlight and Contour Kit is one the best I’ve tried! The colors go on so well and blend out beautifully. They don’t look pigmented in the swatches but they give the right amount of color to make a difference but not to make your face look dirty. The bottom two contour shades are more on the cool side, even they they appear warm, and the top two contour shades are more bronzing, the second shade down does have slight shimmer whereas the rest are matte.
[Matte Finish] lip color glides on velvety-smooth with a doe foot applicator, drying quickly for a long-lasting, transfer-proof, vibrant matte finish.

Unfortunately, both of these lip products contain fragrance so I was unable to test them on my lips and have no comment as to how they wear or feel. I will say that the colors are really pretty and I do wish I could wear them.
This is the look I created using the eye shadow palette, black liner, and the highlight & contour kit. I really like how this look turned out, it’s soft and very wearable for an everyday look.
