Since leaving my corporate job, it’s been 3 years since my last clean shave. Having a little scruff was never an issue, just maintaining it. I always had a trimmer but when it came to blending between different lengths using blade attachments, it was always a little bit of a struggle. And when it came to design, I always found it a little tough to line my beard up. So after 2-3 days, there would come a point where I’d just grab a razor and resort to a clean shave. But as I became more familiar with grooming tools, it became a lot easier to maintain that fresh beard trim and design that you get when you leave the barbershop.
After trying a number of different shavers/trimmers over the years, I can confidently say that the new Panasonic 3-in-1 Shaving Trimmer by far has the makings of being the most efficient and convenient — providing all the elements of a shave, trim, and design in one. Part of what initially gauged my interest was the newly-developed l-shape design. All of my past trimmers looked like the traditional types you’d see at the barbershop or at the drug store. This shaver just feels different — accurate and comfortable. It feels ergonomically friendly in your hand and the l-shape allows you to accurately follow lines during your line-up. It’s also got 20 length settings which is perfect for beards of all types — from long to neat stubble.
If you’re looking for a new shaver or trimmer, I’d highly recommend picking up the new Panasonic 3-in-1 Shaving Trimmer (ER-GD50K). Head on over to Best Buy for more details and to grab one for yourself.

Happy American Thanksgiving y’all! Over here in Canada, we celebrate Thanksgiving earlier in October and it’s always the perfect time to reflect on the year thus far and express gratitude for all of our blessings. It also marks the start of the anticipation of Christmas and the holiday season. For our family, the time leading into Christmas is the most exciting time of the year! We love decorating our home, hosting and getting inspired for gift-giving. Ahead of the holiday season, sales like Black Friday help a ton with making sure we get everyone checked off our list and within budget. Today, I’ve partnered with 7 For All Mankind Jeans on styling their Luxe Sport Slim Fit Jeans and needless to say, I’m a big fan. They’re available for purchase on Bloomingdale’s where they are having a major buy more, save more sale. If you’re looking for a pair for yourself or for a gift, now might be the best time to grab them. So let’s get into what made me into a fan of these jeans…
T H E F I T
These 7 For All Mankind Jeans are a slim fit that tapers to the ankle for a narrow leg. I was pleasantly surprised with how light they feel on, compared to other denim that I’ve purchased in the past that takes time to break in. I also found them very comfortable around the knees when seated, kneeling or bending, which is a major plus. I hate that feeling of denim tightening around the thigh and knee areas, especially when seated that you might get with a skinny. In terms of styling, they look great tucked into a pair of boots and worn with a sweater. You can also easily dress them up with a button up and some oxfords for a more business casual look.

With warmer days ahead, Steph and I are so excited to enjoy our home…from outside! Summers in Toronto are really nice and while it’s also great to dine out, we love staying in and dining on our very own patio. Spring is usually right around the time we start looking for a few pieces to add a new touch to our patio and Canadian Tire has always been our go-to. The CANVAS Collection has a great selection of furniture, accessories and decor for outside — including planters, woven baskets, lanterns, blankets, etc. That’s why we were so excited to partner with Canadian Tire on their CANVAS collection, in styling three different areas: 1. Lounge, 2. Bar, & 3. Dining. Starting with cocktails and apps at the bar, followed by dining for lunch or dinner, and lastly a cozy lounge area that’s perfect for roasting s’mores by a warm fire. Check out all 3 styled areas below…
We also love to entertain our family and friends. While we share most responsibilities in getting everything ready for our guests, there are a couple of areas that I’m solely responsible for: 1. The bar & 2. The music. So here are a few entertaining tips that I’ve learned over the years that’ll make you a successful host in both areas:
HIS Tips on Entertaining:
Garnish Your Drinks – while hosting our family and friends, there’s no better way to catch up than over a drink while we break some bread. They say that cooking for and serving others is an expression of love. Similarly, while hosting, Steph and I share that mentality and one of my responsibilities is being the bartender. My tip for all the home bartenders out there is to garnish your drinks! Whether it’s some fresh rosemary, mint leaves, or a slice of lime, it adds a personal touch to your drinks that’ll leave every glass looking nicely dressed up.
Make a Playlist – what’s a party without some music? Set the mood for the night by setting up a little playlist ahead of time. Some chill tunes for a casual evening or some up-tempo for a celebration. It keeps the guests groovin’ and happy!
Looking back at 2016, I couldn’t be more grateful for your support. What started as a hobby in sharing our personal style and what we’re inspired by a few years ago, Steph and I have been blessed with the opportunities to continue doing what we love. Over the years, we’ve been able to connect with many of you and are consistently inspired by y’all! So how about we raise the first toast to you, our readers…cheers!
2016 was a year of laughs, some tears, and such excitement. The joyous of moments was marrying my best friend. And as we look forward towards a new year, I’m stoked to face every up, down, and curveball that comes our way — as we continue to grow in our marriage. So how about a toast to growth!
This year brought in lots of changes including living together now that we’re married. Having our own place has been a blast — everything from decorating to cooking together. What we’ve learned is how much we love being hosts. So as we welcome 2017, we’re excited to host our first New Year’s Eve party at our place with some family and friends. And you better believe that I’ll be servin’ up some of my favourite rye whisky — Canadian Club® Chairman’s Select™100% Rye Whisky…
Enjoyed neat with a charcuterie spread that includes cheeses, salamis, mixed nuts, and dry fruit, it’s the perfect way to ease into the night. Canadian Club 100% Rye Whisky is balanced with toasted grains, gentle wood notes and a tantalizing hint of sweet vanilla. It’s a smooth finish that’ll warm your guests up on what might be a cold New Year’s Eve (especially if you live in Toronto!). To catch some recipes, visit my earlier posts: Dry Rye Manhattan | Rye Mule
However you celebrate the last day of the year, be safe and responsible, and enjoy the night. I am stoked for what 2017 has in store and I wish you all a year blessed with good health and happiness. Cheers, friends!

This Christmas is a little extra special to Steph and I, as it’s our first one being married. I love surprising her all year around, and gents take note, buying flowers for no reason should still happen even after you’re married! It’s important to enjoy these seasons of life and Christmas is a special time for us. We love going on date nights still, getting dressed up for each other and hitting the town. Here I’m wearing wool trousers for warmth from Banana Republic, paired with some layering pieces like a classic white button down under a cable-knit sweater. A topcoat looks polished over this look and perfect for a dinner out — this can also work as a great office look. Topcoats are one of my go-to pieces for holiday dressing whether its parties, church, or a date with my wife — it always looks put together!
Join us today over on Banana Republic’s Snapchat (brsnaps), as we take over and share with you all how we celebrate together. Check out Steph’s look on her blog today as well!
Merry Christmas, Happy Holidays & Cheers to 2017!

With the days feeling shorter and chillier, it’s the perfect time to kick back and warm up with a glass of rye whisky…
We’re currently staying at the Drake Devonshire in Prince Edward County, and after a full day outdoors, Steph and I decided to catch the sunset from our room. We got the fireplace going and poured ourselves a glass of the Canadian Club® Chairman’s Select™100% Rye Whisky. Taking in the stunning view, it was the perfect way to toast to a beautiful night in the county…
Enjoyed neat, the complex balance of rye spiciness, caramel and oak notes, and warm and creamy finish is perfection. The Canadian Club 100% Rye Whisky is the purest expression of Canadian whisky. With it’s long clean finish, it’s easy and enjoyable to drink for even those that are new to rye whisky. It’s become my favourite rye whisky to unwind to and pour out when we host. And for a whisky lover like me, it makes for the perfect gift under the tree this Christmas — just sayin’ *cough* Steph *cough*.
Headed out to a formal Christmas party over the holidays? I’ve got you covered with a suited look that’s festive and sharp…
It’s my favourite time of year! Christmas is 10 days away and with the holidays around the corner, I’m looking forward to some down time and spending it with friends and family. It’s also party season and whether it’s a Christmas office party or a formal night out, here are five ways to add a festive touch to your suiting:
I’ve teamed up with Sport Chek to bring you a gift guide for the ultimate sports fan this Christmas. Here are my top 5 picks…
1. Favourite Team’s Jersey
The 2017 World Junior Hockey Championship kicks off on Boxing Day (Dec. 26th), and it’s sure to bring families and friends across the country together while we cheer the boys on. If he or she is a fan, the Team Canada 2016 Twill Hockey Jersey might be the perfect gift!
2. Baseball Cap
A classic gift for the sport’s fan, get them a baseball cap. If he/she is a Blue Jays fan like me, they will love this game hat.
3. Fitbit Flex 2 Fitness Tracker
Help them track activity and sleep and receive smartphone notifications, with the Fitbit Flex 2 Fitness Tracker. The perfect gift for the active and health-enthusiast. It’s easy to use and worn on the wrist — making for one sharp watch.
4. Team Hoodie
Growing up in Toronto, watching the Maple Leafs on game nights with my dad brings back some of my favourite childhood memories. The Leafs will always be my favourite team and this hoodie is a great way to show support. And when the boys score and your hands go up, you’ll be showing off the neat Leafs details under the arms of the hoodie.
5. Gym Bag
This Under Armour duffel bag will keep their gear dry and protected on their way to playing sports or the gym. It’s water resistant and has got an abrasion-resistant bottom and side panels for added durability.
As a proud Canadian and Torontonian, my picks were a little bias, haha. But Sport Chek has got plenty of clothing and apparel options for many sporting teams and sports (NBA, NFL, MLS, etc.). They have gifts for every sports lover – whether you are an athlete, enjoy being active or are an avid sports fan. I hope this gift guide helps you with shopping for the sports fan in your life!

With Christmas right around the corner, I’ve teamed up with First Canadian Place and Exchange Tower to bring y’all my gift guide for HIM + HER…
F O R H E R
Ladies first! Shopping for others can be tough, especially for the opposite sex, but ya gotta take notes gents! Unless she’s given you her top 5, there are a few things you can do to grab ideas. Pinterest is your new best friend — check her board to see what she’s pinning for ideas. Or go shopping with her (yes, in her stores), and make mental notes of things she’s keen on but not ready to pull the trigger for. But since we’re running a little short on time, let me help y’all out!
Carving out time to shop for friends and family can be tough with our daily schedules. In my case, finding a way to sneak out for a couple of hours from my wife to shop for her is challenging — I’m a terrible liar. So convenience and efficiency matters. I need a place that caters to all the folks on my list to shop for, and I’m going to need to be in and out as fast as I can. With First Canadian Place and Exchange Tower right in the heart of the Financial District, it makes for an easy stop before heading home for those that work or live downtown. For those of you that can’t make it on a weekday/weeknight, leading up to Christmas, First Canadian Place and Exchange Tower will be open every Saturday with free parking underground. If you’re like me and aren’t exactly a pro at wrapping gifts, they’ve got a station with folks happy to help wrap your gifts before you take them home! So, with all things considered, it’s become my go-to spot because I’ll get everything I need completed, all in one place.
So let’s get started…when it comes to Christmas this year for your lady, go for some: 1. Sparkle, 2. Style, and 3. Comfort. When I gift, I’m all about making it an experience. Keeping in mind of what Steph likes, style and function are equally important. I also know she loves a little luxury, so I’ll splurge on one item. With help of the great retailers at FCP, here are three gifts you can get her that she’ll love…
1. Some Sparkle – BIRKS – Stud Earrings
Walking into Birks, I was immediately enthralled by all of the options. So my key tip is to narrow down the type of jewelry and set a budget for yourself. For Steph, I know that her style is classic and she keeps her jewelry minimalist. So I immediately gravitated towards stud earrings. With the help of the sales associate in store, she was able to work within the provided budget and offer the best options. The Birks Silver White Quartz Stud Earrings at $325.00, are my top pick. This would be the splurge gift, but I was shocked at how much they resembled the size of 2-carat diamond studs. So in hindsight, they are the more economical option! The boxing is small enough that it might give away what the item is if you were to put it under the tree — try sliding it into her stocking or hang onto it until the day of.
My top pick from Birks: Silver White Quartz Stud Earrings
2. Style – HANGAR 9 – Boots
Knowing her affinity towards comfortable and stylish boots, my next stop was at Hangar 9. They’ve got a great selection of women’s clothing, bags, shoes and accessories. After seeking out opinions from the helpful ladies at the store, I started to think of a pair that Steph already loves — Stuart Weitzman knee-high boots. She’s got a pair of these boots in grey and mentioned that she wanted black boots. So, my key tip here is…sometimes you gotta play it safe! Get your lady something she may already have and love, but in another colour.
My top pick from Hangar 9: Stuart Weitzman black knee-high boots.
3. Comfort – HANGAR 9 – Scarf
While at Hangar 9, I saw a little something to keep her warm this winter — a blanket scarf. Trust me, she’ll love you for this one on those cold winter evenings!
Another pick from Hangar 9: Cashmere blanket scarf
Lastly, grab a bottle of her favourite bubbly from the LCBO located on the lower level at First Canadian Place — after opening those gifts, how about a toast to a successful gifting!

For the stylish man in your life, here are 5 gift ideas for HIM…
1. Sweater – Harry Rosen
Let’s start with a great basic — a grey cashmere sweater. Layered over a plaid shirt, he’ll be looking sharp for Holiday dinners. It’s a gift that’s neutral and a versatile piece.
2. Gloves – Harry Rosen
A pair of leather gloves is a great accessory gift that he’s sure to get a lot of use from year over year. Black leather is a safe bet — it should go with all of his jackets and wardrobe.
3. Scarf – Harry Rosen
Being that it’s my one-stop-shop for menswear, my third and final pick from Harry Rosen is this Canali Scarf. Now this is definitely a splurge item priced a little over $200. Harry Rosen offers a variety of luxury brands, but if you’re looking for a wool/cashmere scarf, they’ve got some great options at lower prices as well.
4. Wallet – Sleuth & Statesman
Specializing in leather goods and accessories, Sleuth & Statesman has a great selection of wallets, cases, and bags. My top pick is this Mont Blanc wallet — it’s sleek and super nice. It’s another splurge item priced over $200, but it’s a great stand-alone gift that he’ll surely love.
5. Shaving Kit – Maverick Studio For Men
Lastly, how about treating him to a shaving kit. As men, we’re not always the best with taking care of our skin and could use a little help. Maverick Studio For Men, is one of the coolest looking barbershops that also offers great pre and post-shave creams. If he could use an upgrade, this might end up being one of his favourite gifts!
I hope this gift guide helps you with shopping for that him or her ahead of the holidays! Be sure to visit the First Canadian Place and Exchange Tower on weekdays 9am-6pm and on Saturdays (until December 17th) from 11am-5pm. Not normally open on Saturdays during the year, if you want to skip lineups and enjoy a stress-free holiday shopping experience, this is your place. Free parking, Free coat & parcel check, Free gift wrapping, and a fun holiday photo booth! (www.MyFirstCanadianPlace.ca/SATURDAYS)

On yesterday’s post, I shared the must-have topcoat for this winter season and today, I’m showing you how accessorizing you’re jacket will elevate your overall look. With the simple addition of a plaid scarf, this otherwise muted look now stands out with a touch of colour and pattern. I picked up this plaid scarf from Old Navy for $10CAD ($5USD for US customers)…yes, you read that correctly. I’ve been wearing it with this grey topcoat (currently 50% Off), my camel topcoat (50% Off), my denim jacket (30% Off), and even this utility jacket. With the holidays around the corner, this scarf adds a festive touch to your look and makes for an economical gift to add to your list for dudes you might be shopping for this Christmas.
