Temporary tattoos are the latest beauty obsession in the fashion biz. This Nineties trend was recently brought under the fashion spotlights thanks to Dion Lee, an Australian designer who staged his spring-summer 2019 collection at New York Fashion Week. Lace gave a romantic and soft atmosphere to the whole collection especially because these beautiful embroideries weren’t only on the clothes: the designer, in fact, chose to decorate the models’ skin with beautiful lace temporary tattoos.
Actually, Dion Lee’s inky designs were more than just temporary tattoos, they’re a true homage to body art. The designer transferred real artworks on the skin, that becomes a canvas where it’s easy to draw or to write a concept. The same expedient was used by Christian Dior for Haute Couture spring-summer 2018 fashion show, staged in Paris last January: creative director Maria Grazia Chiuri, celebrating Surrealism on the catwalk, decided to accessorize the outfits with “slogan tattoos”, inked around the models’ necks like chokers, inspired by Andre Breton’s The Surrealist Manifesto quotes.
In these years, fashion became faster than ever, and trends are forgotten in less than a season. That’s why temporary tattoos seem to be the perfect answer to the recent “hit-and-run” aesthetic: it’s easy to follow the trends if we don’t have to leave an indelible design on our skin! It can be a slogan or a drawing inspired by the clothes we’re wearing: temporary tattoos give a cool touch to our look, without pushing us to make a “permanent” decision!
Do you want to know who recently rediscovered temporary tattoos? Our dearest Chiara Ferragni! Filming her documentary in her house in Cremona, her hometown, she found in her old room some temporary tattoos starring Leonardo DiCaprio, her teen crush. For a tattoo-obsessed like her, these temporary tattoos brought her back to her teenage years! And of course, she couldn’t resist extending her tattoos collection with the legendary Leo!

Milan Fashion Week gathered under the same sky the coolest fashionistas from all over the world. Thanks to the outfits they wore for the most important fashion shows, we can have a preview of the fall-winter 2018 trends with whom they fell in love. New York Fashion Week already crowned some trends, now it’s Milan’s turn! Keep your eyes peeled to see all the most beautiful street style trends.
Paillettes all over
We already told you how the Kirakira effect would add some bling-bling to fall-winter 2018. We were right: at Milan Fashion Week we saw sequins, glitters, crystals and metallic fabrics pretty much everywhere. Our dearest Chiara Ferragni was the first to set this trend, wearing a sparkling Alberta Ferretti total look.
Neon is trending, and we were aware that we would have found these bright shades everywhere in Milan. It’s all Prada’s “fault”: its amazing fluo collection for fall-winter 2018/2019 invited fashionistas to channel their inner neon attitude.
Nude tones in winter? Yes, please!
Neutral shades, such as nude or beige, are usually a spring must-have. Milan Fashion Week’s street style put these shades back on the fashion radar: we can’t wait to see more and more nude outfits this season!
Shirts are back
It’s been a few seasons since the shirt gained the fashion spotlights once again and filled fashionistas’ closets. Fall-winter 2018 has already started, and we’re proud to announce that shirts are finally trending again: we’re madly in love with all those beautiful loose shirts, perfect to match with jeans, tailored pants, and pencil skirts.
We knew that animalier prints were back, and we were right. Leopard and python motifs were everywhere outside the shows of Milan Fashion Week. Fall-winter 2018/2019 is the perfect season to channel your wild side.
Yellow is the most fashionable colour for fall
Yellow has always been considered the colour of the summer: it’s warm, it’s bright, and it can add a lively touch to our outfits. We’re going to see this colour very often in our fave shops or on our beloved fashion influencers’ outfits: yellow, in fact, is the trendiest colour for fall and here you can find some cool ideas to steal from fall-winter fashion shows.
These boots are made for… trending!
The coolest shoe of the season? One word: boots! Outside fashion venues, we only saw Texan boots, cuissards, over the knee boots, ankle boots… It seems our shoe wardrobe should be filled with new boots: are you ready to start shopping?

How to dress on a rainy day with style? In these super hot weeks, rain and cold seem very far away. And this is a very good reason why we should study the latest trends and get prepared for the upcoming rainy days. To get through autumn weather is not easy, but luckily at New York Fashion Week, where rain made headlines just like fashion shows, showgoers showed us how to turn the bad weather into a trend. Discover with The Blonde Saladhow to dress on a rainy day!
Choose the perfect umbrella
The right umbrella is probably the most important detail of your best rainy days outfits. Remember: you should never, ever go to a fashion show with a pocket umbrella or (even worse!) a destroyed one! If you don’t want to make mistakes, you should definitely use a PVC umbrella. If you love challenges, you can always look for a designer brand’s umbrella or a vintage one. Don’t waste any more time: your umbrella is somewhere waiting for you!
Wear a super cool raincoat
Under the pouring rain, the umbrella is not enough. And even if it’s not cold yet, you shouldn’t forget to go out without a raincoat or a trench if you don’t want to trash your front row outfit. Pvc, again, is the best fabric: together with latex, it will be trending on trenches and coats, even in unusual winter shades like neon colours. You can also try to surprise your followers with prints: animalier is amazing under the rain!
Which are the right shoes under the rain?
The answer seems pretty easy: boots! Actually, this season we have plenty of good reasons to wear them. The ultimate must-have? Texan boots, for a true cowgirl style. In New York streets we see many chunky sneakers, as well: thanks to their platforms, they’re great if you want to keep your feet dry. Some brave fashionistas didn’t give up on sandals and pumps. Which shoes would you wear on a rainy day?
Big yes to colours
Grey days are so depressing we shouldn’t try to be more miserable with dark and sad outfits. Even under the rain, we can dare with colours: big yes to the brightest shades (even neon ones) and to lively prints, such as check and florals. Start your day the best way!
Maxi skirts are back!
At New York Fashion Week, maxi skirts were pretty much everywhere, especially on rainy days. They’re trending this season, and we can absolutely make them the statement of our looks under the pouring rain: they’re posh, they’re comfortable, and they can protect us from the cold!
Are you ready to face the next rainy days with style? Get inspired by our gallery below, with all the best street style pics from New York Fashion Week!
Milan Fashion Week spring-summer 2019 edition has just ended: what are we going to remember from the latest fashion shows? Besides all the beautiful collections we saw on the catwalk, we have to mention the facts and the news that made us chatting in the front row or backstage. Are you ready to discover with The Blonde Salad the 5 top facts we’re going to remember?
The Ferragnez meet Karl Lagerfeld
This is the meeting of a lifetime: a selfie with Karl Lagerfeld! Our beautiful Chiara Ferragni and her husband Fedez, aka The Ferragnez, had the honour to pose for with Fendi’s creative director, wearing some of the pieces from the upcoming capsule collection, on sale on October 16th.
Gigi Hadid walks as Moschino’s bride
Once upon a time, runway shows were closed by wedding gowns. Jeremy Scott brought back this tradition on Moschino‘s catwalk, choosing Gigi Hadid as his fairytale bride. That really was a memorable fashion moment, with the beautiful top model walking down the runway (or the aisle…) with a huge veil with dozens of butterflies flying on it! But we’re wondering: has Gigi asked to her good friend Jeremy to help her convince Zayn to finally tie the knot after all these on again/off again?
Nicki Minaj everywhere
After being on the radar for her fight with Cardi B at New York Fashion Week, Nicki Minaj was the real international star in Milan. We saw her at Diesel event, where she launched her Hate Couture capsule collection (with Fedez, by the way!), at Fendi and Versace’s fashion shows.
Emporio Armani fashion show in a Linate Airport’s hangar
Since 1996, whoever arrives at Milan Linate Airport sees Emporio Armani‘s logo as the very first thing. In the hangar where the brand’s icon is placed, the founder Giorgio Armani decided to stage his spring-summer 2019 fashion show. A memorable event, with more than 2,000 guests and a concert performed by Robbie Williams.
Kendall Jenner back on the runway
At New York Fashion Week, she decided to take some days off from the fashion shows’ schedule: that’s why we saw her only in the front row of Longchamp, the brand that sees her starring in the new advertising campaign. The top model unveiled that she’s suffering from anxiety and that she was more comfortable taking some relaxing time down the catwalk. It was certainly a brilliant idea because she stunned walking in Milan for her fave brands, like Alberta Ferretti, Moschino, Fendi, and Versace.
Did you know that today is Business Women’s day? A very good reason to celebrate female empowerment. At TBS, we’re so lucky to work with Chiara Ferragni, a woman who ten years after the launch of her blog The Blonde Salad is now one of the most powerful digital entrepreneur in the world, who got on top of influencers ranking and who’s guiding her company towards the future. Just remember the numbers that The Ferragnez wedding generated to understand the engagement she can create on the Internet and the return on the brands she works with. She’s a CEO, she’s a mother, she’s a wife and now she’s also filming her documentary: she’s a constant source of inspiration to believe in the goals we want to reach and to be always the best person we can be.
Many celebrities like Chiara Ferragni decided to start their own business. Do you want to discover our favourite businesswomen? Just scroll down!
Forbes featured Kylie Jenner on its cover as the youngest self-made billionaire of the United States of America in July, and we’re still talking about it. The youngest member of the Kardashian-Jenner clan launched her beauty brand Kylie Cosmetics in 2016, reaching revenues of 630 million dollars. The magazine valued her fortune 900 million dollars, of which 800 million came from her brand. She grew up as a makeup addicted because she was insecure about her thin lips. Now she’s going to overcome Mark Zuckerberg as the youngest self-made billionaire at only 21 years old!
Talking about businesswomen, it’s quite difficult not to mention Oprah! With The Oprah Winfrey Show, broadcasted until 2011, she conquered the title of “queen of all media”. Today, besides being politically and socially involved, she runs her production company Harpo Studios, and she founded the broadcaster Oxygen Media, the Own network and O magazine. Barack Obama once said that she’s the most powerful woman in the world, not just in America. According to Forbes, she’s the 6th most influent American Self-Made Woman.
Kim Kardashian West
Inspired by her younger sister Kylie, Kim Kardashian decided to launch her beauty venture, too. After the not exciting experience with Kardashian Beauty, which she and her sisters Kourtney and Khloé ran through licensing agreements, she created a label that represents her at 100%. In June 2017, she launched the very first KKW Beauty product: a contour kit, her favourite makeup technique. The first 300 thousand pieces went sold out in hours, generating sales for 14 million dollars. Now her cosmetic line has extended also to eyeshadows, fragrances, and lipsticks. In June, she opened her first pop-up store in Los Angeles.
This girl she’s doing everything, from pop star to designer to beauty guru! Her makeup brand Fenty Beauty, launched one year ago, became a real hit thanks to her desire to create a beauty line accessible to every woman, no matter what her skin tone is. The singer also worked on a successful collection with Puma and she recently made headlines with her lingerie brand Savage X Fenty fashion show at New York Fashion Week!
Ashley and Mary-Kate Olsen
It’s been a while since Olsen twins were the most famous teenage stars with their movies. Today they are the creative directors of the fashion brand The Row, and they’re among the most influential American designers in the world, awarded also by the CFDA. They recently expanded into accessories and shoes for The Row, but we have to tell you that they also run a more affordable label, Elizabeth & James, named after their youngest siblings.
We already told you why we love Jessica Alba so much. She was one of the hottest actresses in Hollywood, but it wasn’t enough. In 2011, she launched The Honest Company, focused on beauty and healthcare products made with organic ingredients and without harmful chemicals. Her business has been valued at around 1,7 billion dollars.
Probably you remember Reese Whiterspoon for the unforgettable Elle Woods in Legally Blonde. But she’s much more! The Academy Award winner founded in 2012 a production company, Pacific Standard, becoming one of the most powerful producers in the American film industry. In Big Little Lies, for example, she’s both actor and producer. Her goal is to bring stories written by up-and-coming women to the big screen, Gone Girl and Wild.
Do you remember when Victoria Beckham made her first steps in the fashion world? Well, it was ten years ago! The former Spice Girl just celebrated this anniversary at London Fashion Week. Today she has a 30 million pounds turnover brand and she partnered with famous brands Reebok and Estée Lauder.
In Hollywood, it’s not easy to succeed as female entrepreneurs. Gwyneth Paltrow is the exception that proves the rule. Launched as a newsletter dedicated to food recipes, beauty tips, and healthy suggestions, Goop today is one of the most influent lifestyle website, where you can find interesting articles and contents but also shop beautiful designer collaborations (Stella McCartney was one of them!), skincare products and much more. In 2017, Paltrow signed a deal with Condé Nast to launch a print edition of the magazine.
