Now that the unofficial start to Summer is behind us, we are officially in full blown Summer mode around here! And I don’t know about where you are, but it has been HOT here in Virginia lately. We’re talking 100 degrees already and it’s not even technically Summer yet!

With the crazy hot temperatures we’ve been having, we’ve been looking for extra ways to cool down. I hit up my local Target and picked up a few of our favorite frozen desserts so we can always have Happy on Hand when the mood strikes!

One of my all-time favorite ice cream treats is a Drumstick. It just reminds me of being a kid and getting ice cream from the pool snack bar or the ice cream man. And who can resist that chocolate dipped cone? So freaking good!

Once the kids are in bed (and preferably Tyler so I don’t have to share), my personal indulgence is the new Bourbon Praline Pecan flavor from Häagen-Dazs®. If you’re not a Bourbon drinker, neither am I and this stuff is seriously good without having an overt Bourbon taste.

My new go-to girls night cocktail are these Strawberries and Prosecco Coolers made with Outshine bars. They are perfect for winding down and relaxing!

How did I make them you might ask? It’s literally the easiest thing ever! I took two of the Outshine Strawberry Fruit Bars and blended them with half of a bottle of prosecco and voila! If you were making this for a crowd, I’d use 4 bars and the full bottle of prosecco and blend away! To make them more of a frozen drink, add in some ice before blending. Even Tyler couldn’t resist these!

Of course, the Outshine bars are delicious on their own and are only 60 calories! Given that it’s bathing suit season and everyone is working on their summer bodies, it’s nice to be able to have a sweet snack that won’t derail your hard work!

Thank you to Rev Your Bev for sponsoring this post! As always, all thoughts are 100% my own.

I don’t know about you but it has been H-O-T outside around here lately! I know Summer is still technically a little less than a month away but it sure as heck feels like it’s already here. When the temperature creeps up we’ve gotta work extra hard to stay hydrated. We’ve been loving fruit infused water lately to help keep us all hydrated while still drinking a flavorful beverage.

More about Rev Your Bev Day:

Rev Your Bev Day was May 9th and schools all across the state of Virginia participated in coming up with fruit infused water recipes to make drinking water more fun!

Since 2013, Rev Your Bev has given parents and youth across Virginia the information and resources they need to make healthier beverage choices. Advocates statewide have held more than 1,800 Rev Your Bev Day events, with more than 100,000 people participating.

Liam struggles with drinking water so incorporating fruit infused water has made it way more fun for him! Trust me, they’ll drink it up!

Since we are in prime berry season, we have been loving this berry-centric infused water but the options are truly endless! Plus, it’s super easy! I just rinsed the fruit, cut up the strawberries and tossed both of them into a pitcher of water. You can drink it right away but it’s best when it sits for at least an hour and has time to fully infuse.

Other flavor combination ideas:
  • Strawberry + Lemon
  • Kiwi + Mango + Blackberry
  • Pineapple + Grapefruit + Strawberries
  • Watermelon + Mango + Coconut

For tips on how I drink more water throughout the day, check out this post.

Thank you to Rev Your Bev for sponsoring this post! As always, all thoughts are 100% my own.

When New Years resolutions rolled around, I vowed to drink more water. As a busy Mom, it’s easy to always lean towards something with caffeine to help me keep up with my kids but let’s be real, we all need to drink more water! And truthfully, I do love water. But I found that I wasn’t drinking enough despite breastfeeding that makes you 100x thirstier.

I know most people really struggle with getting more water in during the day because they either want something flavored or just flat out forget to drink it. Today I’m bringing you a few tips for how I get more water in throughout the day.

The number one way I get my water in each day is by carrying my water bottle with me literally everywhere. No really, I take it everywhere. It’s insulated so it keeps my water ice cold which is just how I like it. I’ve heard drinking room temperature water is better for your hydration but I just can’t down with that. Ice cold all the way!

The next way I get my water in is by using a straw. I have this straw cap for my water bottle that makes it way easier to sip on throughout the day instead of unscrewing the cap each time I want to take a sip and praying I don’t pour it all of over myself with the wide opening…which I have done more times than I would like to admit. It also prevents spills if it tips over which is very necessary given I have two kids who think what’s mine is theirs and what’s theirs is theirs.

I also like to flavor my water with fruit. The easiest, and probably most common, option is to slice a lemon and squeeze it into my glass. It gives it a nice, refreshing flavor while still mixing it up from plain water. Aside from the great taste, it’s also great for detoxifying your liver.

If I’m really feeling fancy, fruit infused water is so good! I first got the idea from my hair salon who always has infused water available for clients. My favorite combination to keep on hand is definitely strawberry kiwi. It’s a little tart but has enough sweetness from the strawberries that it balances out the tartness. Plus, I end up getting in extra fruit each day. I typically use a regular pitcher but a pitcher like this is also great and keeps the fruit out of your water if you’re not into that kinda thing.

Lastly, sparkling water is a huge trend right now and there’s definitely a reason for it! If I’m craving something carbonated, sparkling water is a great way to satisfy the need for bubbles but ditch the sugar and/or artificial sweeteners.

While I still enjoy my caffeinated beverages, I am pleased to say I have been drinking significantly more water with these simple switches.

Rev Your Bev Day is an annual statewide day of action to raise awareness about the incredible health benefits you can see by making water your No. 1 beverage of choice. More than 1,800 events have taken place across Virginia since 2013.

Growing up I thought I had awful skin and would be destined to have acne my whole life. I went from the teen years, to college and going to bars and not taking off my makeup (smacks palm to forehead!), to my adult life where things leveled out, to transitioning off of birth control to try to start a family and my skin going bananas, to getting pregnant and more hormonal fluctuations…you see where I’m going with this?  15 years and all of those changes later, I feel like I’ve finally gotten to a place where I feel like I finally understand my skin and have gotten it to a good place.

When I was asked to share my skin care routine because y’all think I have great skin (or at least a few of you do anyway),  it literally blew my mind that anyone would care about what I use on my skin because I felt like it was so awful for so many years. But ask and you shall receive!

I’ve broken this up by morning and night because I do have different products that I use at different times of the day.

The best part? Today happens to be the first day of the Spring Sephora event for Rouge members! You can get 20% off with the code HEYROUGE. Don’t think they forgot about everyone else! The sale opens for everyone else on May 2. For VIB members you can get 15% off with code HEYVIB and for Beauty Insiders you can get 10% off with code HEYINSIDER.

Morning Routine: Face Wash/Cleanser

Oh face wash. I feel like I’ve used them all. My favorite for the morning is Purity with my Clarisonic.

Serum

I have been using a vitamin C serum ever since I first heard about it’s great anti-aging benefits. I recently tried out this one at the end of the year and will use it up but my preference is definitely my tried and true Potent-C Serum. It’s pricey but well worth the cost.  One bottle lasted me 5-6 months which I think is great for the price.

Moisturizer

If you follow me on Instagram you probably already know my favorite but Peter Thomas Roth Water Drench Hyaluronic Cloud Cream has been a favorite of mine for the last 8+ months. I received it originally to review for the blog and I absolutely fell in love. I have combination skin and it has a gel consistency which is recommended for oily/combo skin. It goes on smooth and sinks in quickly.

Also important to note, proper hydration is important for oily/combo skin! If your skin is too dry it produces more oil and can lead to a vicious cycle.

Nighttime Routine: Makeup Remover Wipes

Before I wash my face at night I always take off my make up first. I alternate between using these if I’m going to shower or these if I’m not going to shower. Don’t ask why and I don’t really have a rhyme or reason to it. It’s just what I do.

Face Wash/Cleanser

This one is a tried and true fave and is a drugstore option that is definitely budget friendly. Plus, one bottle lasts forever.

Serum

After washing my face, I alternate nights using this Invigorating Night Transformation Gel and this Sunless Tan Anti-Aging Serum.

Moisturizer

I am currently alternating between this drugstore fave and this Sheer Transformation Perfecting Moisturizer. Truthfully, I have noticed much of a difference with the latter and won’t repurchase it. I have been using the drugstore product for years and do feel like it helps with wrinkles. Even if I venture out and try a new product, I always end up coming back to it!

Eye Cream

I’ve been using this eye cream for about a year and love it. Again, the Vitamin C has great anti-aging properties and it smells good. I do feel it has made a difference in minimizing the fine lines around my eyes.

Welcome! Ellie wants to thank you for coming to her Lilly Pultizer Dream Nursery Tour!

Crib / Chair / Basket / Outfit / Sheets / Blanket / Blanket

When I first found out I was pregnant with Ellie, I knew I wanted to do a Lilly Pulitzer theme in her nursery. I scoured Pinterest but of course there were only a handful of options out there to get inspiration from. Fast forward a few months and Pottery Barn Kids and Lilly Pulitzer came out with a line that blew my mind! All of my Lilly Nursery dreams came true.

I absolutely love how it turned out and hope she ends up loving Lilly as much as I do once she’s old enough to appreciate it. Not all of the items are still available but I will link as much as I can.

Monogram / Crib / Sheets / Shelf / Camera / Echo Dot Dresser / Diaper pail / Stuffed Flamingo / Changing Pad Similar shelf / Mirror / Bins
Tyler’s Aunt hand painted that Flamingo print and it is one of my favorite details in Ellie’s nursery. Prints / Frames Bunny / Crib / Sheets

My dress (courtesy of PinkBlush) is so freaking comfortable and feminine!
  1. Our little town of RVA made it on the list for The South’s Best Food Cities in 2019! Sadly, there are a few places mentioned that I haven’t tried yet that I need to get too STAT!
  2. Can you believe this whole college admissions scandal? Aunt Becky was cut from Hallmark too! She was one of my fave’s too! Luckily it doesn’t appear that DJ Tanner was a part of this scandal so we’re still good there Hallmark lovers!
  3. If you’re an OBX goer, they are putting in a bridge that allows you to cut directly over to Corolla. Say bye bye to the insane traffic! Although, we’re more Kitty Hawk type people.
  4. Have you seen that Starbucks is now upping the stars from 125 to 150 to get a free drink or food reward? Like seriously? They’re also going to allow you to use lower amounts on other items but come on people. Leave my free drink stars alone! #firstworldproblems
  5. Kind of obsessed with this hack for squeezing a lemon without cutting it.
  6. We started using ButcherBox last week and the meat is SO much better than what you can get at the store. They’re also running a promo for two free pounds of ground beef for life with every order! Did you know there can be up to 30 different cows in one pound of ground beef? GROSS.
  7. Spring has officially made it’s way to Virginia (ignoring the fact that we will have a few below freezing temps for the low this week) and it will be 76 on Saturday! Hallelujah! So not sad to see Winter go.
  8. We sleep trained Ellie this past weekend and after almost 7 months, she is finally sleeping through the night! She took to it waaaay better than Liam did (read about that here) and once I know she’s really gotten the hang of it I’ll do a full post about how we did it. Let’s just say, if all babies were like Ellie I’d have 1,000.

Thank you BSM Media and Beech-Nut® for sponsoring this post.  All opinions are 100% our own.

A few weeks ago we had a Beech-Nut Naturals party and had a few of our friends over to try out some yummy Beech-Nut food!

The kids had all just gotten up from their naps (coordinating naps is a real struggle with babes of varying ages!) so they were all hungry and eager to try some food. As expected, they all loved the food and gobbled everything up!

What is Beech-Nut® Naturals?

Beech-Nut® Naturals is inspired by homemade and is real food for babies. It is made with real fruits and veggies, just like you would use at home! Best of all, its 100% natural! I love that I can have the comfort of knowing it’s as close to something I would make at home for Ellie as possible mixed with the convenience of being able to pick it up at the store and not have to wash extra dishes. Let’s be real, who wants to do more dishes? No one.

You can always spot Beech-Nut® products in the store by their honey pot shape and green lid.

We couldn’t let the kids have all the fun though, right? Us Mom’s enjoyed a Mimosa bar while the kids sampled the food. Who doesn’t love a good mimosa?!

Can’t you tell these two are going to be besties?

All in all everyone had a great time! The kids enjoyed the snacks and us Moms enjoyed chatting over our mimosas. Be sure to check out Beech-Nut® Naturals for all of your baby food needs!
