And hosting is such a place. Find a hosting provider you consider to be reliable (for example InMotion or Bluehost) and create an account. Once you’ve created an account for the hosting it is time to install WordPress there. Solid hosting services have that option by default – you don’t have to spend any additional efforts, just click the appropriate button and WP will be installed automatically. You won’t be able to download the theme you chose on the WiX site, so I recommend that you also get yourself a WordPress theme that will look similar to the one you had previously (or maybe it is just time to change your website’s style).

Doing everything with your own hands
This is the slowest, long-term, and routine method. However, it is completely free and you won’t have to spend any additional resources or money for it. In this case, you just manually copy all the data you had on your WiX website and paste it to your new WordPress site. It is as simple as it sounds – Ctrl+C and then Ctrl+V. Repeat until all the data has landed on your new website. And yes, this kind of activity will demand all the patience and accuracy you have because it is a little tedious and boring.
If your website has fewer than twenty pages – this is a perfect migration method that won’t take much time. It is also good because you can control that fact that all the content will be in its place. However, if there are hundreds or even thousands of posts… well, those would be really long working hours (on the other hand, if you are a boss, you can give that job to one of your employees – good to be a boss, huh?).
There is a specialized plugin that helps to post lots of posts together at the same time (Mass Pages/Posts Creator) but it is not really convenient. To post several posts you have to type the information and separate it with commas and that is a little messy and could make checking a hard task. If you are creating a demo this plugin will be useful because you can create dozens of dummy posts at a time. But for your own business website, it is better to copy and paste one post at a time.
What should you pay attention to when moving the posts from WiX to WordPress?
URL. You have to pay attention to the way it will be generated by WordPress. The URL has to be precisely the same it was on the WiX website – so that your readers will be able to find it.
Formatting. If you copy the content from the pages of the website directly – the formatting could be damaged. Make sure you cleared the previous formatting and set the right one to avoid an ugly appearance.
Links. Check all the links you inserted into text to be sure they are not broken and will lead the visitor to the appropriate page of your website or some other.
Images. You can’t just copy and paste images from WiX to WordPress. You will have to download them to your computer and then upload to the WordPress Media Library. Don’t forget to add alt text – it is very useful for search engines and people who have problems with sight accessibility.
Using RSS feed
Actually, all the steps will be the same and the difference is that some of them will be performed automatically by a special algorithm. WiX allows you to add an RSS button to your blog and WordPress allows you to import RSS feeds. It could save you some time.
So, first of all, you have to add a little button to your blog. It will display an RSS feed further. Go to the WiX Editor (I mean the drag-and-drop one). Choose to customize the Blog page.
Now click the blog feed. Four buttons will emerge, choose the “Settings” button and hit it with the pointer.
It will open the specialized tile of Blog settings. Open the “Add-Ons” tab.
You will see a block with a few elements in it. You will need the last one – RSS Button. Click “Add to the page and in the drop-down menu choose where it will land. I picked “Blog (Current)” option.
The button will be placed on the center of the screen and you can now move it to any place you would like to see it. It’s done!
Now click the “Publish” button to show the changes and then “View Site” to shift to the live view.
On the site go to your blog and find the RSS button you just added. After you click on it you will see something like this:
Do a right-click somewhere on the page and save the XML file to the computer. You have to understand, that RSS feed won’t contain the images – only text information. You will have to download all the photos manually. And now open your WordPress dashboard. Open Tools > Import tab.
Here’s a list of data you can import to your WordPress website. Click the “Install Now” button under RSS option and then confirm running an importer.
Click the “Choose file” button and pick the appropriate file on your computer. Then hit the “Upload file and import” button. It will take a few seconds and the RSS feed will be imported and the posts will appear in the list (check it by going to Posts > All Posts). There will be only text content but what do you do with the pictures? Luckily you won’t have to manually download and insert pictures to every post. There’s a great plugin to do it.
Auto Upload Images plugin starts to work when you save the post. It searches for the images URLs which are in the post and uploads the images to the WordPress Media Library. After that, it replaces the new URLs with the old ones and the pictures appear in the post. It is much faster than manually downloading all the pictures and then inserting them one by one to the posts.
Using paid plugin
In the end, you don’t have to do anything by yourself. There’s always an option to ask for help from some professionals. Of course, that will be a paid service but it could make your life sufficiently easier. CMS2CMS is such a service and they could provide as much help as you would like to have.
First of all, you can download their plugin for automated migration. There you will be able to take a look at the demo migration and evaluate if you like the service. The plugin will move ten pages from WiX to WordPress and that will include pictures and content. The system will also give you recommendations about the template which will match the theme you used on WiX.
So, how does that service work? I’ll describe all the steps for you.
Create an account on the website. You can sign up not only by typing your email and password, but via Google or Facebook account.
After registration, you will be lead to the specialized wizard and through the data collecting process. Type the URLs of WiX and WordPress websites and install the Connector plugin.
Verify what data you would like to move to your new website. That could be content, taxonomy, user info, and menu. After that, click “Start Demo migration.” As I said previously it will move up to ten pages.
When the moving is finished you can check how well it worked and continue. After finishing the demo migration, the system will give you a report about the price of the completed migration. It could vary according to the number of pages your website has.

Polishing the theme
Transferring the data is not enough. If you liked the look of your WiX website and want the new site to look just like that – you will have to spend some time searching for a fitting template. Of course, there could be a possibility that you will find an appropriate free theme but I still recommend you get a premium one. Paid templates are more reliable and have more useful features. For a business website, it is better to have a fully functional theme that is supported 24/7.
After the latest update, WordPress has a Gutenberg Editor that is a little bit similar to the WiX Editor. At least it is also a drag-and-drop builder and you will spend less time trying to figure out how it works. If you don’t like Gutenberg I recommend you try Elementor builder – it is the most user-friendly, smoothly-working, and simple page builder on the market.
Changing the domain name
Your readers, customers, and visitors have become used to finding you at your specific site domain. If you change it, some of them won’t be able to find you. That’s why it is better to take the domain name with you when leaving WiX and moving to WordPress. Luckily, when you have purchased a domain name you can easily move it to another website, no matter the CMS.
Go to your WiX account and in the left side menu find “Settings” tab. Open the “Domains” option.
You will see the domain name you bought. Click on it and look at the available options. You need an “Advanced” tab.
After clicking “Transfer away” and “Send code” you will receive a code in your email box. You will need that code when proving to the hosting provider manager that you really own that domain name. Open your WordPress dashboard and go to Settings > General. Change the WordPress Address (URL) and Site Address (URL) to the ones you used in your previous website on WiX.

Every text should be improved with a visual component. Either it is pictures, or examples, subheadings, bullet lists, etc. This is especially true for boring statistics. If you want to make an infographic, you have some options to choose from. Of course, you can do it from scratch. Or you can download a template and put your own information there. Also, you can use Google Slides. And there are two options here: you can start from zero, or you can use a template. In this article, we are going to learn how to make an infographic with Google Slides using a template.
How to make an infographic with Google Slides
I’m writing this article assuming that you, my reader, are familiar with Google services, or at least some of them. You probably use Google Drive to keep files there, and I bet you use Google Docs and Google Photos.
But today we’re going to talk about Google Slides. This tool can’t be underestimated since it can become a great helping hand in creating presentations.
Let us consider the easiest way to make an infographic - we’ll use a template. Follow these step-by-step instructions to create your own info-sheet.
Find a template
First, you’ve got to find a template. Google it and you’ll see what a wide choice there is. For example, I purchased the Wander template. You can buy this one, too, or you can try something else. I recommend that you check out TemplateMonster’s Google Slides Themes or Infographic elements.
Uploading a template
Now that you’ve chosen a template and downloaded it on your PC, you need to unzip it. I’m sure you needn’t be told how to unzip an archive. But after you’ve done that, you need to upload it into Google Slides.
Go to Slides.
Open the Blank presentation.
So far, the process was the same as if you wanted to create an infographic on your own.
So now is exactly the time to upload your template into this blank presentation. Go to File → Import slides...
Then choose Upload and Select the file.
Here it is, already unzipped.
Start working with slides
At this point, you can choose what slides you want to include in your infographic. You can choose separate slides, or you can choose all of them. After you’re done click Import slides.
To make it simple, I decided to include only three slides to build this infographic. After I uploaded them, here is what I’ve got.
As I have a template, I don’t need this first blank slide, so I’m deleting it.
Now I have to do something with the size. We need to make our first slide vertical. For this, go to File → Page setup.
Now you choose Custom settings, choose Pixels, and adjust the sheet at your discretion. I recommend you set it to 700 x 1800 pixels.
After you apply the changes the slides will be vertically stretched.
Don’t panic. Just keep building the infographic using the elements you want.
Now I’m going to show you what I decided to change and how I set the elements of my three slides. I’m going to place everything that I need on my first slide. It is what will be the actual infographic in the end.
That’s how I’ve built a simple infographic.
I’ll show you exactly what I’ve been doing.
First of all, you can select all the elements of the slides you’ve got.
You can also select more than one element at the same time.
After you select an element, you can delete it or drag it anywhere you want. For example, below you can see that I removed some elements and those that I decided to keep were placed on the spots I liked. Here is what I have now.
Now I can copy the elements from the other slides and paste them into the first slide.

Just in case. You probably have noticed that it’s not very convenient to manipulate elements of such a small size. You can zoom in just pressing Ctrl + Alt + + and zoom out with Ctrl + Alt + -.

10 Gutenberg Editor Tricks
#1. View at Different Angles
In Gutenberg, there are a few variants of “editor view.” You can find them at the top right corner. Hovering over that, you’ll see “more” - more options for your ease of use.

#4. Moving Blocks
Moving any block is absolutely easy using up and down arrows. Hover over a block and they will become visible. You’ll also see a dotted icon at the left of the block. Use it to put the block anywhere you prefer.
#5. Changing Block Types
Click on the block you need and choose the current block type option. Every block type can be changed only to its current block type. It depends on the content it includes. For example, a text block can’t become an image block.

You add a new block by:
hitting “return” at the end of the current block and a new one will appear below it
clicking on the “+” at the top left to get a new block right after the block you’re working in

How did it all start back in 2016?
I mean in 2019, the success of Elementor is quite obvious. It's loved by more than 2 000 000 professionals from 180 countries.
But did that happen overnight?
Further we'll explore the history of the world’s top website builder from its birth until today. If you also want to know how great products come to be then keep on reading.
In 2016, Yoni Luksenberg and Ariel Klikstein were successful web professionals, CEOs of Aryo Digital studio. The studio was founded in 2010 and has made a lot of awesome projects since then. Their team has covered all kinds of WordPress web design and development projects. They designed apps and improved UX for hundreds of websites.
But it was not all rainbows. Experienced developers remember how long it used to take to create a DIY website in those days.
The whole process of designing websites involves many tours of interacting with clients. Also, prototyping and making small changes. Back then, it had to be done with nothing but code and good luck. Developers couldn't know how a new feature will turn out until it was completed. And the process of getting websites improved and approved by clients took months on end.
Yoni and Ariel were looking for a solution that would turn web design into a visual interactive process. As in all success stories, they didn’t find what they needed. So they created Elementor.
The First Steps (2016-2017)
The main idea was to give designers complete control over the process and results of their work.
Arie and Yoni also knew that developers were sick and tired of creating new theme files for their projects over and over again.
There were also other users, like bloggers and content managers. Most of them didn't have any coding background and felt helpless when having to add content to websites.
And finally, website owners and marketers needed a technology to help them easily build highly converting landing pages.
So, the task was huge.
How did the new team approach the challenge? The Elementor team explains that:
They took a step back and reviewed all the goals they had in mind with maximum clarity. There was a lot of brainstorming, negotiating the details and determination to make the project pull through.
The team took the development very seriously. It was a long process for coming up with new creative solutions, testing them, and going back to where it started. As a result, only 100% effective and workable solutions found their way in the final product. Every inch of Elementor was carefully thought through.
When the product was finally born as a whole, the team took a step back again. They needed to make sure that Elementor has become a superior builder - powerful, flexible and easy-to-use. Again there was a lot of testing. And the result is here. More than 3000 five star positive reviews to Elementor across various platforms in 2019.
But let’s get back to 2016.
The Product Hunt Surprise
The builder was launched on May 29 of 2016 and the WordPress community got really excited.
I’ll explain what I mean by “excited”: it was some of the first users, not the creators, who launched Elementor on ProductHunt!
The creators did not even know!
They didn’t even have a video intro...
The team was expecting to gather the first feedback from users, have a week of rest and set of to Product Hunt. But the users got it their way.
If there is something to know about Product Hunt launches is that they matter. Creators make a big deal of them, choosing the timing, preparing presentations and official communications. To be successful, a product should get enough votes on ProductHunt and be at the top of the rating. If not, this is a huge opportunity missed.
So the Elementor team was shocked when some user introduced Elementor to the platform without them knowing. But they were not surprised when the Builder got more than 300 upvotes and got to the top 2nd position on the rating. Because they already knew that Elementor was a bomb. And this user-operated launch only proved it.
The launch was only the beginning of the journey.
The First Updates
Next, the Elementor team welcomed the world to their new template library.
In September, it was time to talk about responsive design. The mobile experience was already a big thing for web developers. So most websites and web themes were created responsive. But many users didn’t understand that EVERY piece of content they add to their websites should be optimized for mobile screens too.
Elementor made building responsive layouts so easy that the number of ugly pages we all got to see on mobile screens was significantly reduced.
By December, the team has worked out and released Elementor PRO. Launching the PRO version six months later was an unpopular but very responsible decision. They wanted to make sure that the professional version of the superstar builder was a new player on the market.
The next thing they did was a launch of 24 free widgets that were added to the builder inventory.
By the end of 2016, Elementor has gained a wide community of fans. Since then so many feedback was given, so many improvements were made.
Move on to 2018 -2019
At the dawn of 2018, Elementor was in the 39th most popular plugin in the world. Can you imagine the level of competition they had to win over?
Elementor spoke 50 languages and had over 70 plugins (actually many more) created by other developers to extend it.
And the Elementor social media community has grown to 17k fans in their Facebook (they have 63.5k now) and had 10,974 commits on Github.
During 2017, the team has made changes in the UI, the History feature, Inline editing, and Autosave/Draft functionalities.
The WordPress theme builder we all love now was launched on April 16, 2018.
In 2018, the template library got another awesome addition - the Blocks tab. Since then, the Elementors (I mean the users of Elementor) are using blocks to customize their websites through and through.
The team added Call to action buttons, Animated headlines, hover effects, image shadows and lightboxes.
Lots of awesome widgets were also added to the Elementor package, like Carousel, Testimonials and media, Single post widget, Facebook widget, Search and Navigation widget.
What’s Up in 2019?
Well, as you can see, Elementor builder has gone a long way and is not going to stop.
In January, they released the Pop-up builder. Now we have popups with multiple designs and easy-to-add content in the same builder and can set targeting rules in a few clicks. Easy, heh?
In 2019, Elementor PRO and all the later versions were released. The Elementor team has set two more ambitious goals for 2019 - to enable users to personalize EVERY INCH of the website, not only content areas but also the ability to create interactive content was added. This is huge and this is a reality now with Elementor PRO.
The whole process of website creation is now broken down to three easy steps:
picking a template (header, footer, archive page, etc);
filling it with dynamic content;
setting the rules as to where it will apply.

Why am I making such a fuss about it? Because now you can create a website on your own. You can fill it your content seeing the result as you do it. This seems so obvious but website builders have gone a long way to achieve it.
