Fashion Talk with Sophy G – History of Fashion – Victorian Era

About Sophy G:
Born in the snow-capped and turreted city of Moscow, Founder Natalia retains fond memories of her childhood. An only child in a precarious country, she nonetheless found harmony in the company of her porcelain doll—Sophy. Days were spent exploring and the nights kept warm as the two whispered in confidence about the mysteries of life and their love of fashion. Natalia shared everything with her beloved Sophy, who spoke directly to her soul in a way that could not be explained in words.

Designed in Dubai and hand-crafted in our ateliers, SOPHY G offers one of a kind wear to the sophisticated woman with no care for society’s rules.

I’ve been wanting to attend a fashion talk for so long but really haven’t had a chance to join in the past. I felt lucky to be invited by @maggyinstyle to attend the Fashion Talk with Sophy G in The Retreat The Palm MGallery that was held last May 08, 2018. The event was nothing but simple meetup of a group of girls/guys talking and listening about fashion, I also did invite my friend Claire and I’m sure you guys have seen here to many of my events before. That day Sophy G talked about the History of Fashion – Victorian Era, I did learn so many things during our 2hours of session. Who would have thought how deep fashion is back from the days.

During the talk, we learned about the Victorian Era, How it influences fashion from Feminine Silhouette, high necklines during the day, low necklines at night, voluminous sleeves, thin waists shaped by corsets, full skirts held up by crinolines and long trains.
I love how simple the event was. Coffees & Teas were served and the location was perfect although it was pretty far for me for someone who doesn’t drive, it took me an hour to go there. Nonetheless, it was worth the long travels, and I cannot wait for another session!

Arab Fashion Week MAY2018 Queen Elizabeth 2 Floating Hotel – Dubai Blogger

The much-awaited Arab Fashion Week was held last May 9-12 2018 in Queen Elizabeth 2 Floating hotel making them the very first Fashion Week ever to be held on a floating hotel or on a Ship. Queen Elizabeth 2 is permanently docked in Dubai Mina Rashid now a Hotel, Restaurant and Event Venue. The Floating Hotel opened last April 2018 and now You can also enjoy the whole ship and book your stay or try their wide selection of Food Buffet!

I went to the event on the first day and it was hella stressful. I was LOL when I saw Insta stories with a photo of guests trying to get their wristbands with the caption “Guests queuing for the event” Hello! I was there! There was no queue or line at all, Guests don’t even know where to go to get their bands. It was rather a chaos, disorganized setup. The wristbands were very important because the handsome guards looking smart wearing suits are checking for it before you enter the ship. Also, different bands are given so the staffs know where you belong in the seating arrangement if there were even a “seating arrangement” Funny part was, by the time I got my wristbands(after 30minutes trying to get it), They announced that we don’t need it anymore (coz it was late around 8:35pm) and everyone just rushed into the ship for the show. Isn’t it unfair that the staffs questioned those with normal wristbands if why are they sitting front row? but never asked those who doesn’t have one at all? #smh

Talking about seating Arrangements, on the first day, I was seating on the second row where I can barely see a thing. I did see the models heads walking pass through while others were enjoying the their lovely view on the front row and they don’t even belong there. Many of us ended up standing the whole show to get a full body glimpse of the models wearing designers haute couture and so we can appreciate the hard work of the amazing designers. You can see the video below to know what am I talking about.

To be honest, I was expecting so much about this event. It wasn’t that grand ball looking event as you would’ve imagined to think it was in the Queen Elizabeth 2. I thought that the meydan hotel venue served them well compare to this one. Also the Meydan hotel seating arrangement were the best seating arrangements they had as all the guests from the front row to the upper row can see the designers creation in full body. I cannot comment anything about the city walk venue, I didn’t attend last year so Let me know in the comments below if how was the city walk venue compare to the QE2.

Designers never disappoint! Despite of me ranting about the venue, seating arrangements, disorganized staffs, let me tell you how amazed I am with the designers lineup although some of them were not even in the show programme like Vanessa Villafane, I didn’t see her name on the copy of the program. Some mixed up with the timings of the designers during the show too. Also I feel sorry about the designer Maison Lesley, The models wearing her designs were photograph with Vanessa Villafane background on the screen and later they changed it to her name during the finale walk which I have proof in my video below or on my youtube channel. They probably forgot to change it, Staffs were not so attentive (much) with the details as the two designers had a back to back show that second night of Arab Fashion Week.

Second day of Arab Fashion Week, There were not so many people compared to the first day. It was more calm and many empty seats in the front row. I noticed the staffs were not busy at all some of them were just sitting behind me. Also comparing this to the Meydan show, The staffs then were very attentive. If the show were about to start, They were gonna ask the second row people to move on to the front row to fill the seats and so it will look good on photos and videos and more so the guests can enjoy it more. I noticed that the lighting were not good as well.

Maybe you are thinking if I only went to the fashion show just to noticed their faults and imperfections, I AM NOT. I’ve been to many fashion shows in the last 6 years of my life and as a guest, It is very easy for me to notice the do’s and dont’s of an event, What went wrong and what’s the best I can describe the event. I am blogger it is my duty to notice details and not just go there without writing anything. Also, I attend events so I can meet new people and enjoy the night. I met 3 people on my 2days of attending the event, You’ll see them on my VLOG below! One thing for sure is meeting like minded people who really appreciate events like this is wonderful.

Of course, as I’ve said above, The designers did not disappoint me. The wide array of different creations were fantastic. You can see the hard work and passion of each designers while the models were gracefully walking the runway wearing their designs. I love that Arab Fashion Week had an open casting, I saw new faces of models and with different colours, I truly enjoyed watching the show and hopefully more colours and faces will be added to this prestigious event for I know that Jacob Abrian is a humble and nice guy that embodies Arab Fashion Week.

Thank you Arab Fashion Week for having me again and always! Cheers to many amazing shows in the future! Congrats for being the first ever fashion week to be held on a floating hotel! Another Milestone achieved! Also, What I said above is only my opinion and my personal experience only and it is my job to share my experience to my lovely readers. Not spreading hate or anything but just being REAL and being myself sharing my real life experience to the world of social media. Thanks for reading guys! x0~

Every couple struggling with managing their finances should read this – Dubai Blogger

Money is the root of all evil. Is it wise for you to manage your finances in one joint account with your partner? Most married couples who have tried this method, end up regretting due to lack of trust and poor spending habits. We are all working hard to have a brighter future, and when it finally comes, we are left with the dilemma of sharing our bank accounts with our spouses.

A survey conducted in America, reports that couples find managing finances more stressful when they are doing it jointly than separately. The biggest mistake that most people do while managing joint accounts is not realizing the need for a personal financial advisor. Below is a discussion regarding how to manage your finances without constant fights in a relationship.

Managing a joint account
Assess and test first
A joint account is a big decision that requires serious commitment. Before you deposit all your savings, open a joint account that does not have an overdraft and use it to test how committed you both are. Encourage your partner to deposit some amount every month as you do the same. Once it accumulates, withdraw funds from both sides and spend it on family needs with the knowledge of your partner. If everything is working as planned, you can now decide to take it to the next level by contributing regularly to your joint account.

Learn how to trust each other and be fair
Opening a joint account should be built on complete trust on a partner. Your relationship should be stable enough for you to trust your partner with your money completely. Remember that this kind of account gives both partners responsibility for any types of debts and overdrafts. This means that both of you are liable to settle loans that you take and pay interests as expected. Each partner should reasonably contribute towards resolving debts without waiting for the other to pay more than them.

Both of you should come up with boundaries and stick to them
Avoid arguments and unnecessary fights regarding money by setting boundaries on your joint account. Set a limit to which each partner should spend so that you can regulate a poor attitude towards money. For instance, many women who share joint accounts with their husbands like overspending on shopping when they are no limits set. Come up with a policy such as seeking approval if you want to spend on a luxurious item before deciding on your own.
Some men, on the other hand, may use money from a joint account on drugs if they have drug problems. Drugs such as Suboxone are expensive and may strain your joint account. Encourage such a partner to get help from Suboxone rehabs to break drug tolerance. You can also attend family therapy to mend your relationship and find better ways of managing your finances to avoid money quarrels.

Equality
Your wife may not understand much about managing a joint account. Do not take advantage of this but make them equal partners of the account. This prevents arguments when a partner does not know the terms and conditions of the account. Equal shares also help you plan for uncertainties as it prepares each partner in cases of emergencies to know what to do.

Talk about financial issues
Open communication about how to manage the finances of the family creates harmony. No partner will feel that they are left out, or that the other is doing things behind their back. Make it a habit of sharing ideas regarding future changes. Such regular talks help you come up with a backup plan in case something unexpected comes up. It also enables both members to develop an interest in managing the family finances so that you can decide how to spend your money as a team.

Get support from advisors
People who have trouble settling debts due to inconsistent partners should seek help from financial and mortgage counselors. Sometimes, people face financial difficulties due to emergencies as well as poor decision making. Such support helps you find ways of settling the debts without accumulating more interest.

Managing accounts separately
Be honest about your financial status
Men sometimes lie about their economic situation so that they are not judged by women they may like. Some lie as a way of protecting themselves from gold diggers. Even if you decide to keep your separate account, being realistic about how much you can afford will help your family live within your means. Being a couple means opening up to your loved one so that together you can know how debts and loans may affect your relationship. It also makes you come up with financial goals as you work together to achieve them.

Learn to divide the bills and share responsibilities
Shared responsibilities prevent burdening one partner. Even if you are earning less than them, talk to your spouse and decide what percentage each of you will contribute towards family bills and other expenses. Plan for all costs including miscellaneous expenses together even if each is managing a separate account.
Have your partner in mind

You should always consider your partner as you spend your finances from a different account. It may be your money but remember you still have to share what you have towards the needs of your family. Do not, therefore, overspend and forget that you may be in charge of food while he pays school fees for the kids.

Allowances
A partner who may be earning much more than the other can support them by depositing a specific allowance every month in their accounts. This method helps one feel appreciated and helps both of you manage finances well. The less earning partner can use this support to settle regular household expenses without wasting it on poor spending habits. It may also boost the morale of a partner who may have lost their job or having hardships with their business.

Final thoughts
Among the many issues that a couple may go through, money management should not be part of them. Do not let finances come in the way of your relationship. The strategies outlined above will help you whether you hold a separate or joint account. Keep in mind that communicating with your partner about everything will save your relationship.

10 Things To Do In Sydney Australia – Aussie Blog – Dubai Blogger

One of the country on my Bucket List to visit is Australia. But don’t get me wrong, I’ve been to other parts of Australia but the Ultimate city that I really wanted to visit in this country is Sydney where I’ve never had a chance to visit yet. I also wanted to stay to one of the vacation rentals in Sydney to make my stay more comfortable and feel at home while enjoying the country during my stay. Nothing like a really good place to stay when traveling.

Since I’ve never been to Sydney yet, below are the places that I am interested when visiting Sydney that I think you guys should also add it to your list too! if you are going to this city.

1) Sydney Opera House: This is Australia’s Iconic performing-arts venue. Designed by a Danish Architect, The building was opened in October 1973. I am sure that you guys will never miss this one and I am sure that it is on your first list to visit! Don’t forget the selfies and take lots of photos in this iconic building!

2) The Rocks: is an urban locality. Here you can find many tourists and historic area in Sydney City. Also here you can find weekend markets around 100 stalls for you to shop and enjoy. If you like walking through historical areas and buildings The Rocks should be on your list. This place is close to circular quay and harbor bridge which is our next place on the list.

3) Sydney Harbour Bridge: is a must visit when in Sydney! It’s a steel arch bridge that you can see in Sydney Harbour hence the name Sydney Harbour Bridge. This bridge is iconic! Many tourists take their photos here with the nearby Iconic Sydney Opera house that you don’t want to miss. Did you know that Sydney Harbour Bridge is the 6th longest spanning-arch bridge in the world?

4) Bondi Beach: Of course! When visiting Australia, one can never miss the beautiful beach. In Sydney, you can visit this instagrammable Bondi Beach. Don’t tell me you have not seen this beach all over Instagram haha. This beach is nice for when you wanted to just relax and chill, maybe you can come here at the end of the day after your long walk or simply spend your last day here. Did you know that in 2007 the Guinness world record for the largest swimsuit photo shoot was set in Bondi beach?

5) Royal Botanic Garden: For everyone who loves visiting botanical gardens, who loves plants and flowers and other garden related, this places is perfect for you. This Botanical Garden was opened in 1816. The oldest scientific institution in Australia. You can come here for free after your long day visiting other places as this botanical garden is near to the places I’ve mentioned above.

6) Featherdale Wildlife Park: This place was opened in 1972 to what was then a poultry farm. Here you can find some native trees and different plants together with some other wildlife in the park. This place has an amphitheater and they promote education and a lot of information about animals. So if you wanna visit a place where you can see native trees and some wildlife, this is the place I’ll recommend for you.

7) Museum of Sydney: When traveling, my family loves visiting Museums to know the historical and more information about the city or country we are visiting. Definitely Museum of Sydney will be on my list as it has history collection and exhibit that we will surely enjoy. Did you know that this Museum is built on the ruins of the house of the New south wales first governor? Interesting right?

8) Madame Tussauds Sydney: Now this place probably would be on the last of my lists, I just thought I should include it since I’ve never been to one of these places. I know that they have Madame Tussauds in many other countries and different locations but just in case this place will still be on my list of things to do in Sydney.

9) Sydney Fish Market: Going to a country like Australia with such rich culture and near the ocean, You should not miss visiting Sydney Fish Market. Here you can find seafood of course for you to enjoy! Nothing like a fresh catch! Also, another interesting to do if you like cooking is to try their cooking class. You have to book at least 4weeks ahead because they are busy haha or just try to check their website once in a while if you really like to try their classes. You’ll spend 2hours-4hours here.

10) Pylon Lookout: Don’t leave Sydney Australia without visiting this Lookout to see the fantastic view of the city and harbor. Open to public 7days a week 10am-5pm. They are located on the south-east of the Sydney Harbour Bridge! So definitely you would want to do this after your iconic photo session with the bridge. There are 200 stairs and you can enjoy some historical exhibits on the way up!

I have so many places that I wanted to visit in Sydney Australia and include in this list! But for now, I hope you guys enjoyed my list and let me know in the comment box below if which one would you like to visit and why? Or share me your blog posts or Name of the places that you wanted to visit there so I can check them out too!

I also wanted to make a list of food to try when in Sydney Australia. Sure is the fresh seafood will be on my first list! I read in dailytelegraph.com.au that there are 21 cult Sydney dishes you must try before you die! Which is one is your favorite? Snow egg dessert looks amazing but I have to spend $175 and eat three other courses before I can order the Snow egg dessert haha mmhh… I’ll have to think about that one and maybe try the Portuguese Tart, Sweet Belem first that will only cost me $3.30 hehe.

I guess I need to save quickly and book my trip and have my vacation rentals in Sydney, Should I get a loft? Or waterfront? Are you excited as I do right now!
Well, I guess I’ll see you guys in Sydney Australia!

Mall of the Emirates Fashion Live – Dubai Blogger

Hosted by @roseminsworld interviewing @dana_malhas, Guests and mall shoppers learned about the classic or basic outfit and of course, Carolina Herrera’s new collection for Spring and how to style it! Also, @proteamme showed us some techniques on how to achieve that smooth finish perfect for spring by @harverynicholsdubai.

It was a fun afternoon for me learning new techniques from styling and makeup as well. Thank you, Mall of the Emirates for having me as your guests. Some things I should say, (as always) I just thought that the makeup session would’ve done in the middle of the second low stage near to the audience where we can actually see it and make the audience feel more engaged during the makeup session. Fashion-wise, it was ok, the collection looks stunning and I like how @dana_malhas styled the basic shirts into something more fashionable.
