The term “soul contact” has become more prevalent in metaphysical circles lately. For a fee, you can attend a class and learn how to “break” soul contracts that are to blame for the woes in your life. As with many who offer spiritual and metaphysical advice, the key is in the fee. The universal parameters our physical lives are subject to are not written on paper. They are not limited to, or governed by the human mind. The agreements made by our souls, with the universe and our soul families transcend the human experience. Nothing we do as humans is outside the bounds of those agreements or universal parameters. The belief that we as humans can make or break a soul contract is borne of human thought and rooted in blame, fear, ego and control. Those roots are a human attachment to a a fruitless tree. Blame is the primary emotion behind the concept of soul contracts. People who think they are lacking something in their lives, tend to ignore spiritual shortcomings and seek something or someone to blame. The soul contract fills that bill. It is easy to blame the difficulties of life on a “contract” made with another soul or the universe. Shifting blame away from the true cause can temporarily ease the mind but it will not bring spiritual peace. Fear feeds the blame game. Fear of the future, fear of judgement and fear of the unknown bring anxiety and you guessed it, the need shift blame. Fear is the emotion most commonly used in motivating people to spend money on goods or services that are not in their own best interests. Ego is the driving force that ties it all together. Ego is behind the shifting of blame away from ourselves. Ego is behind the fears and most of all, ego pushes people to control their spiritual awakening.Control is the tool used to implement the desires that blame, fear and ego deem appropriate. The whole concept of soul contracts is about the human mind taking control of the energetic connections of our souls. Spiritual awakening is not about taking control of your soul. Spiritual awakening is about releasing control. So what is the answer? Intentions. Every aspect of your spiritual awakening and ascension to a higher state of being begins with your intentions. Some people who perceive success with breaking soul contracts have really just changed their intentions. All the classes, crystals and cards in the world are useless tools without intentions of light and love. If you understand that life is an experience of the soul and set your intentions to walk a path of light and love, with compassion for all, while giving of yourself without expectation, you will understand that those tools are unnecessary.Final thoughts. What about animals? Every living being is the embodiment of a soul, just the same as as humans. Are animals prohibited from the concept of breaking soul contracts, because they have no money or classrooms?Beware of those who would take the fruits of your labor with only false promises in return.

It is inside you, inside everyone, ready to be shared. Those who love, do so because they ARE love and they choose to share a part of themselves. Love isn’t just for others, it is for yourself. Treat others as you would want them to treat you but also treat yourself as you would want others to treat you. You are a loving soul, using a body and mind to experience this amazing journey we call life. That love is what you were born with, regardless of the country, culture or religion your physical being was brought to. In ancient times before borders, before religion and before cultural division, there was love. We can still share that love because it hasn’t changed. Love isn’t just within us, it surrounds us. Embracing that love within and sharing it with all is a conscious choice of the mind to follow the soul and lead the body. Worldly division by race, religion, culture and borders leaves us with two choices of the mind. Exacerbate with hate or rise above with love.

This is a simple question with a complex answer. Intention, lifestyle and beliefs are all at the root of a spiritual awakening and discovering your metaphysical gifts.First and foremost, what is your intention? Why do you want to awaken? Fame and fortune or fulfillment and peace? Pursuit of the former will prevent the latter. You can fool many people but you cannot fool spirit. They know your intentions. If your intentions are to give of yourself without expectation and help others, you will be given what is needed to accomplish your objective and guided to a path that leads to fulfillment and peace. If your intentions are to achieve fame and fortune from your metaphysical gifts, you may be given enough to accomplish that objective, at the expense of fulfillment and peace. Is your lifestyle conducive to awakening and self discovery? Spiritual awakening is a body, mind and soul experience. Nourish your body, expand your mind, follow your soul. Your body is the vehicle for this journey, your mind is the driver and your soul gives the directions.Everything you consume either nourishes your body or poisons it. Mother Earth provides nourishment necessary for a healthy mind and body. Processing and chemicals either poison what nature provides, or provide an unhealthy substitute.Every thought that crosses your mind, either contributes to or detracts from your spiritual journey. The behavior you allow those thoughts to push you toward will determine your path on that journey. All negative emotions are learned human behaviors. Those learned behaviors are limiting factors in a spiritual awakening. Some examples of negative emotions and learned behavior: Ego, fear, greed, hate and intolerance. What are your beliefs? Religious, social and political beliefs are an indicator of where you are in the awakening process. That which serves the greater good, shows compassion for all humanity, respects Mother Earth and honors your soul, is an awakened belief.Religion and politics are intent on controlling the masses through a system of fear and reward. Both play upon human societal beliefs, prejudices and imaginary borders to divide, conquer and control. Those who slumber are much more easily controlled than those who are awake. Understanding that religion and spirituality are two different things is one of the most important steps in awakening. Knowing that all politics are an illusion used to divide the masses through ego is another necessary step. It is no coincidence that both religion and politics use parades and processions to worship man made symbols, while taking the fruits of your labor and using tightly controlled gatherings to promote a faux unity. Each downplays the teachings of their original leaders in favor of beliefs that unite only those who share their controlling beliefs. Religion, politics and government depend upon you resisting your own spiritual awakening and instead, embracing their substitute. You don’t need them to awaken yourself but they need you to remain asleep and contribute to their control.Accepting that all living creatures were created as part of the circle of life, not to serve humankind, is yet another step toward awakening. Treating every fellow human as an equal in the human experience, regardless of skin color, geographical origin or opposing beliefs is one more giant leap in the awakening process.Awareness of these intentions, lifestyle and beliefs is not awakening. Teaching others about awakening is not in itself awakening. Truly believing and living those beliefs is how you move toward awakening. When you awaken to the knowing of who you are as a loving soul and begin learning your higher purpose here, you will no longer wonder why people do the things they do. You will understand it is part of their journey and not everyone is meant to awaken at this time and in this place.

If you are feeling helpless, exhausted, lacking purpose, like you are stuck on a hamster wheel and something is missing in your life, you are not alone. We are in the midst of a paradigm shift in universal energy. Everyone must adjust their course and adapt to the new parameters. What you once thought was your comfortable life path to happiness, may now be recognized as unfulfilling. That is a natural progression for those who are migrating from thought driven patterns to trusting their soulful intuition. Remember, you are not alone. For many who are not comfortable with this energetic shift, the immediate response can be escaping the discomfort with substances. Man made illicit drugs and alcohol may temporarily mask the discomfort but like any escape, you will return to the imprisonment of your thoughts. That pattern will repeat until you learn that there is no prison and set yourself free to be who you are. Releasing the loving energy of your true self and sharing it with the world, removes the need for temporary escape. Is it easy? No. If it were easy, everyone would be doing it. But the best part is, you are not alone. If you are struggling with anger, jealousy and forgiveness of your past, you are not alone. If you are fearful of moving forward, uncertain of what the future holds for you, you guessed it, you are not alone. No matter what you are going through, there are others who have been there and done that. Common struggles can lead to uncommon connections and nothing helps you heal like helping others heal. Your spirit guides and loved ones who have passed before you are with you, comforting, nudging and guiding you. Be aware and willing to trust your gut instinct, it is their best to to help you find your way. In a spiritual sense, you are not alone. If you are having difficulty recognizing what your guides and loved ones are sharing with you, I am willing to be a channel for that purpose. Please schedule an intuitive guidance session and together, we can seek the answers to your questions.

I receive many questions about the metaphysical effects of the lunar cycles. The effects of yesterday’s full moon seems to be strong, especially for me.There is scientific evidence of the moon’s influence on ocean tides. There is also anecdotal evidence of full moon influence on people via crime, emergency room visits, etc. That evidence leaves little doubt that lunar cycles do influence earth and people.I view the moon’s influence on people as an amplifier. If you are a positive, spiritual being in touch with your metaphysical gifts, a full moon will affect you positively, thus amplifying your positivity and gifts. Conversely, if you are in a dark and negative place spiritually, the effect will amplify your negativity. Combine the full moon with the beginning of a new calendar year and the effect is further amplified. Not by the date on a calendar but by your personal, spiritual outlook on life. If you are at a peaceful place in your life journey, with a positive outlook for the year ahead, the year ahead will seem like a new beginning and foster more positivity. Conversely, if your life is in turmoil and your spiritual connection is lost, the amplifying effects will bring fear of even more turmoil. It all comes down to your intention, perception, connection and direction. If those three things are positive, the full moon and new year will lead you to more positivity. If one or more is lacking within you, the full moon energy and new calendar year will seem to lead you in a negative direction. Which direction you take is all up to you. Set your intentions and move in a positive direction!

Have you ever wondered why you are attracted to someone, especially a romantic partner? The answer is simple. Energy. You may have read countless books or articles explaining the human, psychological reasons for attraction. On a human level, many of them are right. On a spiritual level, they are all wrong. The driving force behind your attraction goes much deeper than your human mind. It is the energy of your soul, pushing you toward, or away from someone. Everyone we meet in life helps us learn life lessons and contributes to our spiritual growth. Some of those lessons and growth are simple, some are complex. Some are obvious, some are subtle. Some are superficial, some are deeply personal. All of those lessons are meant to be. They were pre-planned by your soul, in conjunction with your soul group. Some lessons were pre-planned before you incarnated, others were planned “on the fly” due to changes in the plan as a result of your free-will decisions.Have you ever heard the phrase “They were meant to be together” or “It was written in the stars” when referring to romantic partners? In many instances, those words are correct. Those relationships usually have a certain “je ne said quios,” something that cannot be adequately described. That is because most people can not describe, or understand an energetic connection beyond the bounds of human psychology. Some of the participants in those relationships are aware of a deeper “push” but most do not understand the nature or origin of that push. Whether you call it gut instinct, intuition or a sixth sense, it is an energetic push toward that person. That push takes place because there are lessons, both human and spiritual that you are both meant to share and learn from each other. Those lessons may be brief and small in number, or they may be lengthy and take a lifetime to learn and share. When you move from one intimate relationship to another and the same lessons appear, it is because you did not learn the lesson as intended during the first, second or subsequent relationships. This repeating of lessons is common when one or both people in a relationship ignore their gut instinct and defer to analysis of perceived human needs when selecting a partner. If your selection of a partner is based primarily on factors such as appearance, income and monetary wealth, social standing and religious beliefs, urging of family and friends, or because your biological clock is ticking, it is unlikely your choice is spiritual in nature. You will still learn lessons from that relationship but the spiritual growth necessary to lead you toward fulfillment and peace, is unlikely to be present. There are many types of intimate and spiritual relationships. Those types include life partners, soul mates and twin flames. Some people who are aware of soulful energy and spirituality, struggle to define their relationship type, often trying to fit a square peg into a round hole. If your relationship doesn’t “feel” like it was meant to be one of those types without resorting to explanation of the aforementioned human factors, it is not likely to be one of those types. The human emotion of denial can play a big role here, as you struggle to hold onto something that wasn’t meant for you.Trust your instinct. It is the energy of your soul telling you which path to follow. If someone makes you feel peace from within, gravitate toward them. If someone is emotionally or physically abusive, that is not a spiritual connection. If you can easily explain, with sound reasoning, why you are with a partner, it is likely that human factors weighed heavily in your choice. Choose someone with a certain je ne sais quios, over someone who fills your preset laundry list of qualifications. The path you find yourself on by trusting your soulful instinct will lead you to fulfillment and peace.

Can you stop drinking alcohol right now? Can you stop smoking? Can you stop using man-made illicit drugs? Not just for a week, a month or a year, but permanently? If yes, then stop drinking, smoking and/or using. See how long you can last. Enjoy the health benefits of removing potentially dangerous toxins from your body, while freeing your mind and body from the addictive and negative influences. Let your soul thrive without the attachment of body, mind and soul to controlling substances. If no, you are addicted. The good news is that there is still a chance to release your true self from the physical and emotional influences. The fact that you kept reading beyond the title and continued to this point is a harbinger of hope. If your are an addict, there are three types of people in your life, those who don’t know you are addicted, those who enable your addictive behavior and those who do not. Chances are, you have pushed away those who do not enable your addictive behavior. But those non-enablers are the ones who really love you and want what is best for your body, mind and soul. Enablers come from a dark place of self-misery and insecurity. They have not learned to love themselves and need to be surrounded by others who share their darkness. They are often addicts themselves and a common attitude is; I’m not an addict because I am not as bad as they are.Still reading? It is because these words resonate with your soul. I am not an addict or an enabler but I encounter many people who are addicts almost every day. Most of them know it, many of them admit it, few of them have the spiritual presence to overcome it. The next question is who and what do you want to be in this lifetime? The choice is simple; A spiritually awakened being and lover of your true self, or a spiritually slumbering being in a dark place, relying on that next drink, smoke or drug to manufacture something you perceive as lacking within you. The former is who you really are, your soulful self. The latter is what you allow yourself to be through addiction, hiding from your true self.Clever marketing by those who make money from the aforementioned substances have convinced the masses that addiction is socially acceptable. They don’t call it addiction though. They convince you that their substances are a necessary component of an enjoyable life. Nothing could be further from the truth. Those substances are a mask, hiding parts of yourself that you don’t want the world to see and creating a facade of what you think the world wants to see in you. But everything you hide is a part of you. Those who truly love you will love everything about you. Your body mind and soul are a complete package. When you hide a part of yourself, you attract those who only desire what you show them. When you show your true self, those who seek what you show will gravitate toward you. Live in the present. Forgive the past. Trust the future. The most highly spiritual and genuine people I know believe those three statements. Attachment to the past brings depression. Fear of the future brings anxiety. Living in the present brings peace of mind. With peace of mind, there is no need to self-medicate, no need for substances to hide from attachments to the past or numb your fear of the future. Part of spiritual awakening is learning to love yourself. If you learn to love yourself enough to release attachments and addictions, the path toward a peaceful existence becomes much clearer. Try it, what do you have to lose?

The spiritual implications of social and political issues are a topic of much discussion. Social and political beliefs are not unrelated to your spiritual beliefs. They are intertwined and integral parts of the essence of your being. The combination of spiritual, religious, social and political beliefs make up who you are, and who you want to be. Everyone has an opinion on every issue, whether or not they choose to share those opinions. My stance on most social and political issues has evolved over time, as I have become more aware, compassionate, tolerant and spiritual. One of the major contributors to my evolution of understanding was a co-worker. Many years ago, I was in an animated discussion with that co-worker about a socio-political issue. We had opposing views and at one point in the discussion, he said “How does it affect you?” With each of my counter points, he parroted the phrase “How does it affect you?” As it turns out, each of my points were rooted in either fear, ego, judgment or controlling the actions of others. The issue didn’t really affect me. That conversation took place many years before my spiritual awakening but the phrase he used still resonates with me on both a human level and spiritually. To take it one step further toward living a highly spiritual existence, I also ask myself “How does it affect others?” Every social and political issue has winners and losers. From each decision, some people will gain and some will lose on a human level. Those who gain financially or through control of others, rarely gain anything spiritually. That is because the driving force behind a highly spiritual being is love. Love of the true self and love for all others. Love is the only emotion we are born with and the only emotion we take with us when we transition back to pure energy. All other emotions not rooted in love are learned human behavior. It is easy to justify a particular stance by excluding people or groups of people from those deserving of our love. That exclusion is usually rooted in negative human emotional reactions, such as greed, ego, control, judgement and pre-judgment (prejudice). My method for overcoming the temptations of those negative emotions is to ask myself how it affects me and also “How does it affect THEM?” If I can step beyond my own ego and understand how people who are without power or a voice are affected, my stances become more compassionate, tolerant and understanding. Finally, I ask myself if my position on an issue is selfish or selfless. There are more than seven billion people living on this earth and I am just one. My existence is no more important that any other. We all have a purpose in our lifetimes and we all have opportunities for selfless spiritual growth. If we choose to ignore those opportunities, the life journey becomes more emotionally troublesome, leading us away from a path to happiness, fulfillment and peace.
