It seems counterintuitive: how would reducing coffee intake give you more energy? We can prove it! While a great cup of coffee can be the perfect fuel to help you tackle your morning tasks, we’ll show you the positive impact that cutting back on coffee can provide.

Finding Substitutes

If you drink coffee because you need a boost, you may want to consider alternatives. Even if you can’t cut out coffee completely, you can lower the number of cups you consume. Used to a latte for an afternoon pick me up? Try tea. You can still have a hot or cold cup of caffeine, but with a gentler effect. You can also explore non-caffeinated options, considering the vast variety of tea types.

Hydrate Better

Still feeling sluggish when drinking coffee? You may be dehydrated. Sometimes we misinterpret the signals our body is sending us. If a dose of caffeine is still leaving you tired, increase your energy by drinking the right fluids. Experts recommend about 8 cups of water to feel fully energized throughout the day.

Improved Sleep

When you are used to multiple cups of coffee per day, reducing your caffeine intake can really improve your sleeping habits. Restful sleep can be drastically reduced if you can limit your coffee to just one cup, or only imbibing before noon. Able to cut out coffee entirely? You’ll notice a better night’s rest consistently. Drinking coffee in the afternoon or evening can damage the length and quality of your sleep.

Have you ever asked a candidate to send in their resume, even if you’re not hiring? It’s a good way to take a look at current talent even if you’re satisfied with your existing team. However – what do you do with those resumes? Do you take one look and toss them out? Shove them in a drawer somewhere? We’re here to show you how you can draw from your database and re-deploy those lost candidates, as well as previous employees.

Why Previous Candidates?

The advantages of hiring previous workers are numerous. Onboarding can be incredibly time-consuming. If you pick up an employee that left a year ago, you can expedite their hiring process and get them focused on the project at hand even faster. Paperwork should be easier when you have previous verification of your former employee’s abilities.

The Benefits of Re-Deploying

Putting previous staff members to work can be hugely successful. You know their strengths and weaknesses, which means you can effectively delegate responsibilities to them even on day one. A worker that can hit the ground running is ten times as valuable as other candidates. The gift of certainty is a valuable one.

Save Your Resources

Hiring is expensive! One great way to cut costs is to recycle your previous workers. Keep it simple by making some calls. Make a list of previous employers from recent years, and ask if they’re looking for a better job fit. Talk about your openings, and show them how you can help their career. Consider giving them a step up from their previous role to show respect and encourage professional growth.

Still struggling to find the right candidates? Contact CCS Construction Staffing to fill your hiring needs. We guarantee a quick turnaround time and give you access to premium applicants that can help you effectively complete any construction project. Check out our website today to learn more.

Your employees appreciate an open response to a question you might not know. But always remember to follow up after you get the answer. Everyone has to start somewhere, so it’s important to keep in mind that it’s impossible to be an expert on everything. Here we’ll take you through the sixth installment in our Improve Your Leadership Skills Series and show you how your weaknesses can help you be strong.

Relate to Your Workers

In order for your team to work effectively with you, you need to be able to find common ground. Relating to your employees can really assist in the efforts you make together to accomplish a goal or complete a project. You can relate to your workers by sharing personal stories and admitting to your weaknesses. Don’t overshare, but make it a point to show your employees that you have faults and respect that everyone has their limitations. You can encourage your staff members to grow by showing them what skills you’ve been able to develop.

Trust is Essential

Developing a rapport with your team is essential for it to thrive. Building trust can take your success even further. If your workers fear conflict with you or don’t feel that they can trust you, they won’t be able to confide in your or warn you of impending issues. A strong leader doesn’t make demands: they lead by example and show an appreciation for team input. If you don’t show vulnerability, you make it difficult for your team to know they can believe in you.

Take the Blame

Own up to your mistakes. When something goes wrong, your employees need to know that you are not immune to error. And more importantly, that you don’t shirk responsibility. A quick way to lose the respect of your colleagues is to blame your team or the “higher-ups” for an error. If one of your employees fails, it’s on you as well. Show your team respect and trust by acknowledging your error, and making a plan to rectify the mistake.

When you’re experiencing an overload of stress, it can be impossible to feel like you’ve got life under control. Whether you’re experiencing long hours or intense projects at work, or you’ve got too much on your plate in your personal life, stress can translate directly into physical damage. We’ll share with you the ways that severe overwhelm can directly impact your well-being.

Lower Blood Pressure

Stress manifests differently in every individual. Some face depression and anxiety, some get nausea or rashes, but many experience high blood pressure when they are under pressure. This is extremely dangerous, as high blood pressure can lead to stroke, heart attack, and other organ damage. This is a symptom you need to take seriously. You can gradually lower your blood pressure by increasing your physical activity, quitting smoking, cutting back on caffeine, and limiting alcohol.

Better Sleep

Tossing and turning due to stress can be so frustrating. You feel as if you are out of control, like you can’t shut your mind off. One way that stress directly affects your physical health is lack of sleep. If you’re not getting enough hours of quality sleep, you’re hurting your productivity and wellness. Here are some quick tips on how you can achieve more restful sleep:

  • A Dark, Quiet Environment – think blackout curtains, earplugs, and an eye mask to create ideal sleeping conditions if you’re distracted by light or sound
  • Unplug and Unwind – give yourself at least 30 minutes before bed to relax with no screen time to help your brain decompress
  • Contact Your Doctor – discuss supplements like melatonin, or sleeping aids if you’re experiencing symptoms of insomnia
Fewer Headaches

Even if you’re not a chronic migraine-sufferer, headaches due to tension and stress can plague you at home and at work. If you can more effectively manage your stress, you’ll reduce your pain significantly. You may not notice how much tension you’re holding in your body, especially in your head. While you’re at work, take care to roll your shoulders and relax the muscles in your face. Too often you may find you’ve been squinting or you have a furrowed brow, which can lead to brain pain such as tension headaches or migraines.

To learn more about how to take care of yourself on the job site, check out CCS Construction Staffing. We can help you adapt to your work environment and give you the best insight on how to perform well and stand out among your peers. Contact us today to learn more.

Hiring the right person is hard enough – but how do you proceed when your top choice declines the position? It can be incredibly frustrating to conduct a full hiring screen and end up empty-handed. Don’t let yourself get caught unprepared. CCS Construction Staffing is here to discuss the more delicate issues of hiring, including why you may not attain the great hires you seek, and how you can be prepared if a candidate says no.

Why Candidates Decline

There are a multitude of reasons a job candidate may turn down a position, so the first order of business is some self-reflection. Check your company culture. If you enforce deadlines and quotas with punishments and long hours, you might not attract top talent. Young professionals care about company culture, and not in the way you might think. If a “positive corporate environment” makes you think about ping-pong tables and three-hour lunches, revisit your preconceived notions. Often candidates are looking for daycare, increased healthcare benefits, or flexible shifts. Find ways to appeal to applicants, and advertise them in your listings.

Also, quality candidates do research. They review the website, they explore recent work by your organization, and during interviews they gain a first impression with everyone they meet. Be sure you’ve assembled a team that seems pleasant to work with, staff members that are considerate and welcoming. A tense vibe will ward off the best candidates faster than a low wage.

It’s Not You

Often, you may miss out on a great candidate for reasons beyond your control. Factors like location, money, and personal factors are often outside of your scope of influence. Don’t beat yourself up about this. Know exactly what you can and cannot offer new workers to help you feel informed and confident when you make job offers.

Grow Your Hiring Techniques

If there’s one important thing we can share, it’s that every loss can teach you something. Be sure to follow up promptly when a candidate declines a position. Politely ask what might have changed their mind, or what more they seek in a role. If you notice this occurring frequently, consider developing a survey to assess what changes you may need to make.

If you’re struggling to find great workers, contact CCS Construction Staffing. Our experts have access to top candidates looking for construction roles. If you want to fill positions in a hurry, check out our website today.

A career in construction can be tough work, and any step up on the competition will help you land a job. Whether you’re looking for basic laborer positions or you’ve developed a specific trade, you need to stand out as a job candidate. Develop a skill that transcends the basic duties of your job position. One way to set yourself apart and improve your career outlook is to adopt another language to help communicate: here’s how learning Spanish can help.

Offer a Different Experience

In construction, it’s difficult enough to meet a client’s expectations. Work should always be done faster, better, cheaper, and safely. Balancing these needs can be nearly impossible, so there is no room for miscommunications. If you’re working for a client that speaks Spanish, your conversational Spanish skills can help create a sense of familiarity and provide more clarity on a project.

Work with Other Speakers

To communicate more effectively with your fellow staff, learn Spanish! It’s no secret that many construction workers speak multiple languages, and any training you can complete will help you team up and work together. Learning Spanish can give you the tools you need to cooperate more effectively while on the job.

Appeals to Employers

If you want to stand out in a difficult job market, learning Spanish looks great on your resume and can be practical while at work. If your resume is limited by the basics, and you find yourself coming up short in an interview, try something new! Learning Spanish is about more than talking to other speakers – it also shows potential employers that you take the initiative to adopt new skills. Demonstrating your commitment to expanding your career is a surefire way to appeal to a hiring manager.

Ready to find the perfect construction position? Contact top temporary staffing agency CCS Construction Staffing. Our professionals are the best in the Southeast, and we can discuss your abilities and pair you with a great employer faster than the rest. Check out our website today.
