This Blog has been around in some of the best and worst times of my life. The best times of course being that I started it when I just finished college ad needed something to occupy me. I had a great boyfriend at the time (my husband). Also I also got my first REAL job (that I still have now).

This was all at the end of 2008/beginning of 2009- Fast forward to now where does this blog has seen me be a fiancé and get married. And now on the way to becoming a mommy.... YES! You heard me!

A BABY will be here soon!

There are many people who have literally followed me along each milestone and I am always going to be extremely grateful. THIS is just as a heads up because I will be posting quite a bit of baby content on my blog as well.
Why?
I want to be able to tell MY story! And share relevant products that work for me/my baby. Not every mom out there is going to be someone who you identify with. I want to have the opportunity to be able to share my experience.... which is a unique! I'm Canadian. I was born here. But I was also born to Jamaican parents. So that's also apart of my experience.

With all of that being said -I would never give up on beauty. That’s always going to be my first love. But I’m a big believer that your Blog should evolve with you. I understand the content might not be for everybody. I would love it if you decided to still support me as I go through this next journey with you guys. Again for my loyal followers thank you so much for always reading/commenting connecting with me on social media.

Guys! Make Up For Ever is at it again! I can’t keep up with all these great products that are coming out this year. I was lucky to get my hands on three of them!! Look at them in their glory and let me know which one is your favourite in the comments section!

First up:
There are 121 vivid shades and five different finishes.
You get pigmented eye shadows that you can mix and match. Plus 12 hour wear.

Why you need them?
I can’t be the only one who is tired of all the streaky and powdery shadows on the market. I can assure you that this ISN’T it at all! These are super smooth and blendable. The unique part is that you get to choose your palette! Do you it based on your mood, occasion or whatever! Choose your palette size: 2, 3, 4 and 6.

I was gifted a three pan palette PLUS three awesome colours!
Colours: D830, I648 and ME824

Next up is...

FYI: These images are taken directly from an exclusive MUFE event that I attended a while back.

Let me tell you now… this summer is going to be ALL about highlighters. Highlighting every angle of your body and face. Sooo be ready! This baby is for my girls who love highlighting BUT don’t want the sparkle. After using this product you get a soft and subtle sheen. 4 different finishes.

Why you need them?
You need to be glowing this summer! Plus it’s created with mother-of-pearl to give you an all-over glow. My favourite way to use it is in my foundation! My colour: 50 - golden copper.

Lastly…

I won’t lie, this one is a TRUE gem. I can’t tell you how many times I’ve walked around with several products in my makeup bag. Just taking up space and being unnecessary. Now you can get one cream palette that is going to do all of that! Which I might add- can fit in to the palm of your hands.
Now you can camouflage discolouration and imperfections easily!

Why you need one?
These palettes get rid of unwanted darkness, redness, and dull areas.
Best part is that they can be used in combination with other Make Up For Ever products.

There are six palettes:
  • 20 Very Fair
  • 25 Light
  • 30 Medium
  • 40 Tan
  • 50 Dark (Me)
  • 55 Deep

Let me start off my stating that I'm not employed by any social media platform like Facebook BUT if there is a deal online.. be sure that I'll find it! *TWO SNAPS*

The rise of Facebook groups.

Did you know that your next outfit might be on facebook? Hear me out!
Have you ever checked out the Marketplace or a FB clothing group?

It's the perfect opportunity for you to buy and sell items to update your wardrobe. The items that you get there are both new/gently used. Plus you can negotiate price and connect with some really cool people. Interested?

Here tips for picking up or selling your item.

  1. Always go to a busy place to buy or sell: Try a Tim Hortons or mall. If you live on the subway line. I would even suggest that because you can hop on and hop off without having to pay an extra fee. Never go to anyone's house ALONE without taking a buddy with you.... And even then I would still tell you to stay away from that.
  2. Always examine the item before you pay. PLUS always read the listing fully. I had a situation where I was selling an item that was in storage for a bit..... so it had a few marks on the bottom. The person who wanted the box told their significant other to pick it up BUT did not tell them about the blemishes. He didn't take it and ended up wasting my TIME!
  3. As a buyer- Don't lowball.  It's cool to negotiate but if the person is not interested in YOUR "new price" please don't get mad.
  4. As a seller: Read the full rules of the group. Bump your post up as much as you can. It's a gentle reminder that the item is still available.
  5. As a seller: If possible, meet the buyer half way: If you really want to sell this might be your best alternative!

Have you sold/bought anything on a social network before?
Share your experience in the comments!

I was asked by one of my good friends what would be my top ten Island honeymoon essentials for an island vacation. I had a LONG list of items that you would usually forget or overlook when packing. I thought this would be perfect for the blog since I haven’t done a honeymoon essential post since 2015.

If you’re prepping for your honeymoon and stumbled on this post - get a piece of paper out and let’s go. Or just screenshot. Haha! Whatever works.

  1. Bug Spray
Honestly right now Zika is still a thing and before you go anywhere depending on your family plan it’s always best to check the location to see how high the threat of Zika is. With that being said it’s logical that bug spray will be on your list.
  2. Sunscreen
Very important for all skin tones. I find that darker skinned individuals forgo sunscreen completely and then end up coming back in complete disarray about how burnt they got on vacay. Wait.. I’m talking about myself... kinda sorta. On my most recent vacation to Jamaica with my husband we stayed outside for hours. Have you been to Negril?? It’s so dreamy! We stayed outside for hours. We used sunscreen but one thing I can admit that we did not do was re-apply. But I can only imagine what would have happened if we didn’t have it!!!!
  3. Waterproof camera
One of the best purchases we did from Best Buy. The shots we got are so fun! Probably some of my favourites.
  4. Plastic bags
Just to separate your dirty from your clean clothes. You laugh but trust me! It will be the biggest help come time for laundry.
  5. Anti-Nausea pills
This doesn't even need an explanation but when you and your boo get sick from food positioning.... You will thank me. I’m not wishing it upon you BUT it’s just a simple precaution.
  6. Cough syrup and sinus medicine
Been there done that. Climbed a waterfall high of sinus medication once. I have the pics to prove it lol.
  7. Lysol wipes
This place will be your home for a week. It’s important that it’s clean as possible.
  8. Clutch
Just something to hold the essentials. Room keys, lip colour, mirror... etc
  9. Insulated Cup
If your trying to do the whole resort thing your own cup is key. I’m alway cautious of the cups at the resort.
  10. Socks/sneakers
Sooo useful if you decide to use a resort gym or go on an excursion.
Do you think I'm missing anything?

I know I'm totally getting annoying talking about my lash extension experience.... But I really miss them! Currently.. saving money is the goal. So things will have to be sacrificed. There is a lot that I wish I knew before I became so addicted.

Number one:
Super corny but how "easy" it makes your life. I would literally just slap on concealer, lipgloss and go about my day and feel glamorous. No lie... you would honestly feel camera ready for EVERY/ANY occasion.

Number two:
Listen when they tell you that can’t get them wet in the first 48 hours. I always try to get them done a bit before I go on vacation- so that it doesn't affect my beach plans. In other words, on day 4 of vacation I want my lashes still look even.

Number three:
Not all curl patterns will work for you. I loved a mix of a C and D curl. I have extremely curly lashes and some blends didn't work on me at all.  It's a bit of trail and error in the beginning.

Number four:
The initial appointment feels like it will take forever. Expect to sit in the chair for up to two hours when you get your first set. After that can be 45 minutes to an hour for refills

Number five:
Now how naked you could feel when they come off. I did lashes from 2015 to 2017 with very little breaks. I haven't found a mascara that can give me that look!

BONUS:
Not everyone is a good lash tech. Please do your research. Read every review and look for pictures. My last lash tech was horrible. By day 7 my lashes were falling out and patchy... I took a chance and NEVER again.

Is there anything I missed?
Do you have any tips for lash extension wearers?

My next few posts are REALLY going to have a self-care theme. Mostly because I've been severally lacking. I know.. I know! I totally need to do better but with daylight saving time here. I see more opportunity to do better.... Starting with my nails!

Thankfully I have the Sally Hansen Beautifier Collection by
Complete Salon Manicure ($7.97 CAN) collection to get me started.

There are six items that you need to get to get have the full Complete Salon Manicure experience:

  • Nail Primer
  • Nail Corrector
  • Matte Top Coat
  • High Gloss Top Coat
  • Fast Dry Top Coat
  • Nail + Cuticle Serum

First get started by applying 1 coat of the base coat Nail Primer or the Nail Corrector.

Then apply any Complete Salon Manicure Nail Colour by Sally Hansen.
I chose "Off the Shoulder". One of their new colours which has Keratin complex for stronger nails.

Now time to seal the look!
One coat is all you need.
I needed something quick so I went for the Fast Dry Top Coat.

Two other options:

  • Matte= Matte Top Coat
  • Glossy = High Gloss Top Coat

Lastly use the Salon Manicure Nail & Cuticles Serum by massaging it into nails and cuticles.

Isn't the colour "off the shoulder" perfect?!?!

Have you seen this collection in-stores?

Get it right and get it tight! 2018 is your year to step up your fitness game. If you're new to the gym, or if you're an avid gym attendee check out my 3 suggested gym routines you should start doing in 2018! For more fitness routines and for some fitness motivation be sure to follow my instagram account @simplyeseeri. Now let's workout!

*Please note, I am not a fitness professional. I'm just a regular person who is enthusiastic about fitness and enjoys sharing what has worked for me. Perform the above routines at your own risk.*

1. HITT StairMASTER
I'm an avid stair master user. It is my go-to cardiovascular gym machine. The reason why I love it so much is because it targets all of your lower body. When I'm in a rush, or if I want to break out in a crazy sweat in under 1 hour I always do a high intensity interval training (HIIT) routine on the stair master. HIIT routines help you to boost your standard steady-state cardio workout because they force your body to work outside of its comfort zone.

Warm Up
Speed/Level 5 for 5 minutes

Phase 1
Speed/Level 6 for 5 minutes
Speed/Level 7 for 5 minutes
Speed/Level 8 for 5 minutes

Phase 2
Speed/Level 5 for 5 minutes
Speed/Level 9 for 5 minutes
Speed/Level 7 for 5 minutes

Cool Down
Speed/Level 5 for 5 minutes

2. Keep It 100
This routine is easy to remember and gives you a great total body burn. When completing each repetition I would suggest you focus on maintaining perfect form to really feel the impact of your workout.

Phase 1
10 minute run on the treadmill
50 push ups
50 arm curls with 5-10lbs of weight
100 crunches

Phase 2
10 min run on the treadmill
100 bicycle crunches
100 squats with 20-30lbs of weight

Phase 3
10 minute run on the treadmill
100 fire hydrants
100 curtsy lunges

Stretch for at least 15 minutes

3. Quick and Dirty
This routine is something that I do when I want a full body cardiovascular and strength workout done in about 1 hour because I'm short on time.

20 minutes on the stairmaster machine
100 squats with 30lbs of weights
40 shoulder press with 30 lbs of weights
25 Russian twists
25 crunches
25 reverse crunches
Stretch for at least 10 minutes

As I state almost every day(tears), I have given up wearing lash extensions until 2019. I’ve pretty much been wearing them straight on and off since the middle of 2015 (when I got married).

I’m not gonna lie I miss how easy and effortless it was getting ready in the morning or having to attend an event was. I hardly had to do anything. I'd fix my brows, eyeliner, find good lip colour and I was set. But personally.... it all comes down to having to spend quite a few dollars a month. Which ends up being $1000+. I could go on a vacation with all that cash!

Anyways back to the point, I have been on the hunt for a good mascara for a while! One brand that always is on top of the drugstore lash game is ALWAYS Maybelline. If I’ve ever been in them bind "lash wise" I was always able to go to Shopper's Drug Mart -find a Maybelline mascara that works.

Today's mascara of the day is from their Total Temptation Collection-Total Temptation Mascara ($7.96 CAN Walmart). First off !!!! Let me say this brush is REALLY really nice! I know for a while we could not get away from seeing plastic bristles on every mascara wand. Which I’m still a fan of but nothing beats a good old-fashioned bristles.

This mascara is intended for volume. So depending on if you’re only a length girl.... this might not be for you. But... if you are skilled in Lash sorcery like myself. You can make ANYTHING happen. Yes! I did just make that word up. You can make mascara do what ever you want. This mascara has more of a creamy formula/wet. If your mascara junkie, you know exactly what I’m talking about. One cool fact: it also has coconut extract in it. We all know the benefits of coconut oil hair growth.

APPLICATION
For me, I always start at the tip of my lashes (that might not work for everyone). Then I make my way towards the root of my lashes. I apply a coat- let it dry- apply another coat- let it semi dry and then apply final coat to seal it at the end. It’s totally up to you how many layers you want to do.
I’ve seen people apply to 10 to get their desired look.

You don't need much for a daily look. Mascara and gloss/lipsticks plus your brows done. I was also able to try their Total Temptation Eyebrow Definer Pencil ($7.96 CAN Walmart). Which comes at a great time because my holy grail brow product is now done.

This product is definitely worth checking out. Probably one of the biggest notables is the shape of the tip. It’s teardrop shaped! Perfect for drawing arches.

It also comes with a nice spoolie at the end.

With the mascara & brow pencil:

As a woman of colour, finding a good nude used to be the biggest hassle. People would either give me a colour that was extremely light or unflattering for my skin tone. Or I would get a colour that is too dark and did not complement me. One brand which has been making awesome browns lip colours for all skin tones is NYX. Plus you can find it at your local drugstore! You do not have to make a special online order or wait till IMATS to get what you want anymore. All you have to do is hit up Shoppers Drug Mart to test out some samples or find great Canadian beauty blog (like myself) which for the swatches and names that you should look out for.

NYX liquid suede ($10 CAN) When I think of the word suede... I think of something velvety and soft. These have a matte finish. They’re very plush on the lips and not streaky at all.

You get a good colour play off and they come in 24 shades!

Club Hopper- Brown with a reddish undertone

Downtown Beauty- Walnut Brown

***It’s very important for me to let you guys know if a liquid lipstick a streaky or NOT because if it is- it’s harder to work with. You have to become a pro to be able to apply it in record time without it looking patchy and unattractive.

Another notable they have a very workable applicator and unique names.

Let’s get to the swatches!
