Lisa & Michael’s Holy Family Catholic Wedding in Detroit MI then off to the Italian American Club Livonia MI for the wedding Reception.
It was a fun phone call to take from a Lisa when she told us she had attended a wedding of some very good friends, Angela & Dino a couple of years ago and wanted us to photograph her wedding. Lisa was great to work with on the planning of her wedding, she was organized and put a lot of thought and planning into her wedding at the Italian American Club in Livonia. We had a great time shooting the wedding and going around the city to get some great looks at the city. We wish them all the best for a wonder marriage together. See you at the next wedding!
We have been talking in the studio a lot this week about the fire damage to Notre Dame Cathedral Paris and remembering this wedding we shot for a fantastic couple in Paris. They were outside the Notre Dame Cathedral in Paris for some photos after the wedding at the Hotel Crillon Paris for some gorgeous night shots as we walked around the city enjoying its beauty.
Our heart goes out to the parish of Notre Dame Cathedral as they make Saint Eustache Paris their new home while repair efforts are underway. The fire ravaged parts of the cathedral and destroyed its 13 century Oak timber rafters & iconic spire. We watched in horror as the flames lapped into the evening sky above Paris. As the next few days passed and we could see the damage was contained somewhat and all was not lost. Many of the relics were saved and the great walls still stand. As beautiful and historically important a church this has been, it will be off limits to visitors for some time while they rebuild from the damage. If there is a silver lining to any of this it might be that some of the lesser known cathedrals in Paris will gain some visitors and some well deserved recognition. For example, on the north side of the city is one of the very first Gothic Cathedrals ever built, Basilica Cathedral of Saint Denis Paris France is unquestionably one of the finest I have ever seen. This is one of the most historically significant sanctuaries and being out of downtown, one of the least visited. You should make a point of going their on your visit.
I would like to take a look back at some photos from Mark & Colleen’s wedding and remember some happier times for Notre Dame Paris Cathedral.
Ashley & Randy’s wedding at The National Gallery on Trafalgar Square in London, England
We shot one of the more interesting weddings recently in London, England for Randy & Ashley. I had met Ashley at another wedding in Paris some time back and learned she was now living in London for work. Ashley & Randy are both from the states and loved the idea of having their wedding in London, the city they were now calling home. Having their family and mobile friends come celebrate with them in the city was the plan. They had collected friends from all over the globe and this was a chance to pull them together for a great celebration. Ashley picked the National Gallery at Trafalgar Square in London when she learned that they were willing to host her wedding. Though couples can go inside The National Gallery for photos, I understand this was the first ever actual wedding ceremony held inside the Gallery. I was pretty excited about this and we began to formulate a plan.
Mid-week, we met up for a walk through of The National Gallery with Szandra German who heads up special events. They were so accommodating and glad to have Ashley & Randall as guests and to host their wedding. With all the priceless artwork in the National Gallery, one of the main concerns was having a flash with uv light striking the artwork. Understandably so. I was so pleased and honored to have a chance to shoot in such a gorgeous space.
On the wedding day, we met up for getting ready photos. Ashley wanted to give a shout our to her dress maker Lucy Martin Bridal in London. We then moved out onto the balcony overlooking Trafalgar Square for their first look. There were so many interesting angles to work with. The wedding came off without a hitch under the great dome. Cocktails and dinner ensued. Ashley & Randal had seen the band “Cold Years” out of Aberdeen and fell in love with them. The band agreed to come play for the wedding and put on an amazing show! We had a great time photographing this wedding and wish Ashley & Randal a wonderful time together living and working in Europe!
Robert & Jennifer’s Lafayette Grande Banquet Facility wedding in Pontiac MI.
It was a fantastic wedding in the chapel inside the Lafayette Grande Banquet Venue in Pontiac. We met up before the wedding for some getting ready shots with Jennifer. When all was set and everyone ready, Jennifer walked into the chapel with great anticipation. The wedding was in the small chapel with all eyes on Robert & Jennifer. A wonderful dinner was served by the staff in Lafayette Grande Crystal Ballroom. Jennifer & Robert danced and played all night, then later went out into the streets for some stunning nights shots that everyone loved!

Monica & Nikhil’s Sangeet &Wedding Celebration at Bharatiya Temple Troy & Sheraton Inn Novi Hindu Wedding Reception.
We started out the evening of the Sangeet at the Bharatiya Temple in Troy for a night of fun, food & dancing. The next morning we we arrived at the Sheraton Inn Novi for the preparation shots of the men and the woman. The Baraat took palace along the east & north side as the bride watched from high above. Once the service was under way we covered this beautiful event with great enthusiasm as the ceremony unfolded before our eyes. Following the service we took some family photos and the couple took a little break to get ready for the evening festivities.
Autumn & Mike’s wedding at Detroit Beer Co. Wedding in Downtown Detroit
We started out getting ready at the Greektown Casino Hotel. The couple was in great spirits when they made their first look on the great staircase in the lobby of the Hotel. We took off out through the city making stops at the Z Lot and the Detroit Institute of Arts and several other great spots before the wedding. We spent some time zipping around the city and having fun. When it came time for the wedding service, we met up with everyone at the Detroit Beer Company. The staff was great to work with and very accommodating to the vendors. The service was performed by a close friend and they did wonderful job bring a personal touch to the ceremony. The food what a big hit with the guests and with the great reputation of The Detroit Beer Company, it could not have been better!
I loved that everyone was having such a great time, it makes for great photo ops. The night shots in downtown Detroit were also a highlight and so many great spots in such close proximity. We hope you like the photos and we wish Mike & Autumn all the best for a great and happy future together.
