I've been on the search for a face product that I can use to help control my oily t-zone. Why'll I was window shopping online I came across the Kat Von D Lock-It Blotting Powder on the Sephora website and with reading the reviews I thought that for my birthday last month I would give this a try.
The Lock-It Blotting Powder comes in 4 different shades this shade Deep is the darkest is comes in but I feel there is room for more shades before and after my shade. I like that it comes in different shades because not only can I use this on my t-zone to control oil I can also use it as an all over powder. This is also refillable so once I finish this I can always by the refill. This powder is super matte which is what I'm looking for. I do notice however if you layer this powder you can get a cakey look to the skin. Which I noticed this when I would layer this on my nose which is where I need the product most as that part of my face gets the oiliest. For lasting powder, the matte finish that this gives my skin is really only for a few hours maybe 5 hours at the most. Sadly I was very disappointed with this because of the lasting power of the product. I will continue to use this but I won't be purchasing this again.
I started working on this post before the whole Kat Von D controversy about her choice not to vaccinate her child. What are your thoughts on all of this will you still purchase from the brand?
These two are products that are expensive on their own so I'm glad they have this set year-round to try. The Good Genes Treatment is on its own $135CAD for the standard size and $200CAD for the value size and then the Luna Sleeping Oil is $70CAD for the size of the bottle that comes in the set which is 15mL or you can purchase the standard size for $135CAD or you can get the set for $110CAD.
First I will start off with the Good Genes Lactic Acid Treatment. This treatment is said to work for all skin types and will help with dullness, uneven skin tone, dark spots, fine lines, and wrinkles. First I'm going to start with the smell because reading the reviews online before I bought this a lot of people commented on the smell of the treatment. Someone even said it smells like rotten egg, lol. I don't like the smell as I think anyone who smells this would agree it's a very unpleasant smell. However, I feel it's something you can get over. For me, I don't think my skin liked the Lactic Acid because Good Genes kept giving me little breakouts on my face everytime I used it. I would stop using it and then give my skin a break and try again but my skin kept breaking out from. So I stopped using this product. For the time that I did use it with the Luna Oil, I notice plumped skin and radiant skin. I also like that the Lactic Acid exfoliates the skin and unclogs pores. I don't know if it made a difference in my pore since I was more focus on the fact that I was getting breakouts from this. I did read other reviews this also happened to other people as well.
The Luna Oil is also said like the Good Genes Treatment to work for all skin types and helps with pores, dryness, rough texture, fine lines, and wrinkles. Unlike Good Genes this has no strong smells. I really liked this product and notice that it helped with the texture of my skin right above my chin which is a bit rough. The Luna Oil can only be used at night and helped my skin to be more radiant. I think it did help my pores a bit to be less noticeable for the ones that are larger around my cheek area. Two - Three drops of the oil is all you need and the bottle has actually lasted me a long time. I don't use it every night and I did take a break from using it to see which product was making me break out before I started using it again. But in the time that I stopped using it, the roughness that I have right above my chin came back and I ended up finding a cleanser that actually helps with that problems. I like the Luna Oil and I would purchase this again however it would be the smaller size that I would get as I think $135 is a way too much for a beauty or skincare product.
Here are some products I want to try next from Sunday Riley.
Today is the last day of May, can you believe it? I feel like May has passed by so fast and too fast lol. Well, I'm back with a new review of two lip products that I purchased maybe about a month ago. Today I will be sharing in this post my reviews on Covergirl Melting Pout Gel Liquid Lipstick and NYX Powder Puff Lippie.
I went to my local drug store with the intention to be purchasing items that I needed on my shopping list and ending up purchasing these lipsticks.
Of out the two, I like this the best. I feel like this is long lasting, it has a nice shine to it but not like a traditional liquid lipstick it is not matte. I find this to be long lasting but this does transfer when you eat and drink since this isn't a matte liquid lipstick. It's actually described as a Gel Liquid Lipstick by the brand. The applicator is a nice simple design, making the use of the lipstick simple and easy to use. For Covergirl Melting Pout the shade I picked up was shade 100 called Gelebrity. The colour of this is a perfect blend of a soft brown with a hint of pink. For me, this is a perfect everyday colour.
Now onto NYX Powder Puff Lippie, the shade I bought was Cool Intentions which like the Covergirl Lipstick this is also in the brown family of lipsticks with a hint of pink. Unlike Covergirl, this is a Matte finish and described by NYX to be a Powder Cream Lipstick. For me, it has a soft finish to it like a powder but goes on mousse like until it dries down. I personally don't like this as much as the Covergirl Lipstick as in the picture above you can see that the powder-like finish actually makes my lips look a bit dry and the applicator is a nightmare. Instead of product coming out at the tip of the applicator it actually comes out on all sides making it a mess when you apply the product to your lips. I almost always have to blot my lips to get the extra product off because way too much product comes out. I was actually very disappointed with this liquid lipstick in terms of the applicator and the way the product looks on the lips.
Have you tried any new release of Liquid Lipsticks from any rands lately?
Here are some lip products that are on my Wish List to purchase next
I'm looking to switch my body care products to more natural products, in my last empties post you saw I tried natural deodorant and that didn't work out too well for me since it irritated my skin. In April I made a purchase from an Etsy Shop and bought some natural, handmade bath and body products for my cousin as a gift for her bridal shower as well I decided to pick up some Whipped Body Butters for myself.
Follow So the Etsy Shop that I discovered was Northern Delights they had a wide selection of natural body and bath products. I purchased for myself their Whipped Body Butter, the three types I purchased were Chocolate, Peppermint, and Coconut. Before this I actually don't think I have ever tried Whipped Body Butter so I was excited to get my order as well I was excited about the scents of these products.
They scent smell so amazing and I love that it's not an artificial smell or overpowering, they truly smell like peppermint, Chocolate, and Coconut. I purchased the smaller sizes which is 4oz in case I didn't like the product but I love the butters and would purchase more. The bigger size is an 8oz jar option.
They melt as you apply the product to the skin, a little bit of product goes a long way you don't need a lot. I especially love to use the body butters on my feet. The butters are made with natural and organic ingredients listed on each product and also listed on the Etsy shop owners page.
Overall I love these and would purchase more. Sadly I went back to the shop and it's currently closed I did see a message a few weeks back for the shop owner saying she was going through some personal issues and wouldn't be able to keep up with new orders, but now it looks like she has officially closed her shop. Which is sad because I think her products are great. I still wanted to post this review even though her store is no longer open but there are tons of other Etsy shops that sell natural products so I'm sure I will find a good place to purchase more from next. Just a side note if you live in Canadian I would purchase from a Canadian Shop as I was looking at Whipped Body Butters from other shops and notice shipping to Canada for this type of product is expensive.
What do you think of All Natural Body and Bath products?
I bought Jason Natural Deodorant at Winners because I wanted to give natural deodorant a try again. This actually gave me a rash and I looked up that depending on the natural deodorant you can sometimes get a rash. This for me made my underarms itch so I stopped using it. I wouldn't try this again but maybe a different brand.
Next up I has a deluxe sample of Drunk Elephant Lala Retro Whipped Cream. I would recommend this for people with dry skin. I personally didn't like this and felt it was too oily of a product. This has a blend of six African oils so not a product for oily skin or at least my skin. I just feel like it didn't absorb into my skin and just would sit on top. I was very disappointed. For me, I would not buy the full size of this.
Simple Micellar Water is one of my fave Micellar products. I really liked this and would purchase this again. It didn't have a weird smell to it which some brand do as well this didn't have a strong smell. I liked that this was gentle and did a good job at removing my makeup and waterproof mascara. This makes me what to try more from the Simple brand.
EOS Lip Balm, there isn't much to say because I feel like everyone has tried this before. I like their lip balms and I can't count how many I have bought. So this for sure would be a repurchase as I have purchased this so many times already!
For the brows, I recently finished two products Hourglass Arch Brow Sculpting Pencil in Dark Brunette. I received this gem when I worked at Sephora at first I didn't use this as I was in love with my Anastasia brow products back then but this I love. I feel it did an amazing job at filling in my brows, giving them a nice look and not making them look fake or overdone. The brow pencil is on the pricey side and costs $40 in Canada. I would buy this but It would be a treat for myself and not something I would purchase on the regular because of the price. I almost forgot to mention the pencil did come out of the case a few times which was annoying.
Benefit Precisely My Brow Pencil is another brow product I got when I worked at Sephora. For me personally, I didn't like this brow pencil. I really don't have much to say I just didn't like the way it performed and it's not a product I would purchase again. I have used this on other people when doing their makeup. I think this is a great pencil for someone with fuller brows and they just need a little touch up here and there.
Next up is KKW Ultralight Beam Duo in Copper. I love this lipgloss and finished it so fast when I bought this Ultra Light Beam Duo. I personally think the pressed pigment is ok. But the gloss is wonderful. It's hydrating and last gloss. It looks good when I wear this alone or with a lipstick underneath. I would buy this gloss again if KKW Beauty sold this separately from the pigment.
Last is the Urban Decay Naked Skin Concealer in Dark Golden. I love this concealer and have already repurchased it. It goes on smooth is a nice match to naturally brighten up my undereye area. It also blends into the skin well with a brush or a sponge. It comes in 14 shades which I think is a good selection. However, I feel like this concealer has been around for a few years now and it sells well they should expand their colour range not only for darker skin tone but for all skin tones.
Check out my wishlist for some items I want to purchase next.
Hey guys! I'm back with a new empties post. I love writing these post because I feel so good when I finish a product lol and I love to look back on my empties post. It's like a catalog for me lol telling me what to buy and what not to buy again.
First, we are going to start off with Fresh Peony Brightening Moisture Face Cream this cream, believe it or not, is $95.00 CA I got this in gratis when I worked at Sephora. I think the price tag is way to high but I loved this cream and I think it is the best face cream I have ever used so far. This is a thick cream, however, I didn't find it too heavy to wear in the day and it absorbed into my skin nicely. Not only does this brighten the skin giving a nice glow but it also protects your skin against environmental aggressors. I would for sure buy this again but I would wait until the VIB Sale to purchase this one.
Next up is Maybelline Lash Sensational Curvitude Mascara, I actually bought this by mistake and wanted to get the original Lash Sensational but I ended up actually really liking this one. I feel it made my lashes look great the brush was different then what I'm used too so I wasn't too much of a fan of the brush. Overall it got the job done but I do feel it dried up quickly. Personally, I wouldn't buy this again since I just really like the original more.
Everyone and their Mother has been raving about the Pixi Glow Tonic, so I decided to give it a try. However, this didn't work well with my skin I feel like it honestly did nothing. I didn't see a glow or any type of positive change in my skin. This is something that I won't be trying again.
Dior's Gentle Cleansing Milk is the first milk cleanser I have tried and I really liked this. At first, I didn't like it because it was too different to what I'm used to and I actually stopped using this for a while. Then I decided to give this a try again and I fell in love. You can also use this to remove your makeup which I would do on days when I was too sleepy lol to remove my makeup with my makeup remover. Sadly they don't make this anymore I think or at least it's not on the Sephora website anymore. They have come out with a new cleanser I guess to replace this one called Hydra Life Micellar Milk No-Rinse Cleanser.Because Sephora no longer sells this I wouldn't buy it again although I never did buy this a did get this in gratis. However maybe I would try their new Hydra Life Milk Cleanser.
Recently I did a full review of Moroccan Oil Volume Collection so I won't go too much into the Moroccan Oil Extra Volume Conditioner but I loved this conditioner. I love this on its own without the Volume Shampoo and would recommend using a different Shampoo with this conditioner. I would buy this again as I feel like it got the job done and I also love how it works as a detangler. Would I purchase this... YES!
Last is Laneige Balancing Emulsion for Combination to Oily Skin, the bottle that I have in the picture is the old bottle since I have finished this a few months ago they have now updated version of this. I really loved this and actually bought this by mistake lol I tend to do that a lot. But I was meaning to buy Laneige toner which both came in a box that looked similar so when I picked up the toner I read the box and saw for dry skin, beside the toner was another box combo to oily skin that was all I read off of the box and picked it up thinking it was the toner lol. But I'm glad I made that mistake because this is a product I would purchase again. I really love the way it made my skin feel and look. This is a repurchase for me I feel like my skin is not the same without this in my routine.
So that it is for my empties for now but I do have more coming up soon!
Briogeo Be Kind, Be Gentle Co-Wash is a Co-Wash that is designed for wavy to tightly coiled hair. This Co-Wash is said to lead to soft, hydrated hair while making hair more manageable by detangling hair.
When I first used this product I have to be honest I was so disappointed I didn't get the results I was hoping for. I feel like it did clean my hair well. However I felt like it lack in making my hair feel hydrated and soft. I did feel like it hydrated my hair to a certain point but that I still needed to use a conditioner after this. Which cancels out the whole point of using a Co-Wash. I do like that this is paraben free, sulfate free and free of phthalates but sadly this just didn't work out for me. I'm still interested in the brand and would like to try more of their products in the future. But this will not be something I will try again.
Spring is here, if you live in Canada like me I wouldn't call the weather we have been having spring lol but none the less it is April and that is the month when Spring starts. Last month I came across a DIY for a Vintage Flower Box and this gave me ideas to create my own flower box. I went on Pinterest to look up some images and I got tons of ideas that I decided to make two one is a Vintage Flower box inspired by this blog post that I read and then the other is a wooden box that I bought from the Dollar Store and fixed up.
To start with this DIY you're going to need the box you want to put your flowers in and a floral foam. I purchased both boxes from Dollarama which is a Dollar Store. I would suggest also getting sandpaper to make sure the box is smooth if you decided to get a wooden box. I thought the box I purchased was completely smooth until I got home and noticed it wasn't and I didn't want to go out and buy sandpaper lol.
Make sure you also measure the foam to the size of your box and cut with a knife. I used an old knife that we have in the house. No one uses it for cooking and the foam was very easy to cut.
Next, you're going to want to get your paint together and paint brushes. I bought mine from Micheals which is one of my fave store I could spend hours in Micheals.
I also picked up a sponge from Micheals as well to create a sponge effect on my box. What I love about Micheals is when I went there they had so many different options to pick from they even had a tool to create a wooden pattern which I almost bought but then decided to stick to my original plan.
Next step is to paint your box in the base colour. I used Folk Art Home Decor Chalk paint in White. I did two coats and waited for 20-30 mins in between coats. Folk Art recommends waiting two hours between coats but I felt like I didn't have to wait that long. The only problem with this paint is the smell so I would suggest wearing a mask. Otherwise, I had no problems with this brand.
Now for the blue, I bought also from Micheals Art Minds Decor Soft Gloss Acrylic Paint in Crystal Blue. I next mixed a very small amount of the white paint into the blue just so the finish wouldn't be too glossy and stipple the sponge onto the box. Then I wait 15 minutes for the paint to dry. After I mixed in more white to create a softer blue shade and then once again a stippled my sponge into the box. I wanted my box to have two different tones of blue.
Then I let my box sit for a half hours to make sure it was completely dry. Once it was totally dry I arranged the flowers that I purchased from Micheals into the foam. If you want to use real flowers then I would line the box your using so that the box doesn't get wet from the foam. Because for real flower you do have to soak the foam in water. However, I used fake flowers as I don't see myself going out to the store to purchase real ones and replacing them when it's time to do so.
I also made another box as well with a vintage feel to it.
I have been in search to purchase some new fragrances for myself. Then I saw that Kim Kardashian West was coming out with new fragrances for Valentines Day. I thought I would give the brand a try based on the reviews I have seen of her other fragrances.
Based on the description on the website, I decided to purchase 2 out of the 3 fragrances as I felt Ride or Die scent didn't appeal to me. So I decided to purchase Bae which was the fragrance that peaked my interest first then I also went with BFF.
BFF is described as having base notes of Cedarwood, Marshmellow Vanilla Accord, and Musk. With top notes being Wild Berries, Pink Currant and Star Apple. Last, the middle notes are Pink Petal Rose, Jasmine Sambac, and Pear Blossom. This is a very sweet scent I almost feel like I get a sugar rush when I wear this lol. I feel like I smell the Star Apple a hint of the Vanilla and Musk. I, however, don't feel like this fragrance last more than a few hours.
Bae is my favorite of the two and this was going to be my original purchase until I decided to purchase BFF as well.
The base notes for Bae are Whipped Vanilla, White Sandalwood, and Musk. With top notes being Bergamont, Juicy Mandarin, and Kiwi Flower. Last, the middle notes are Jasmine Sambac, Gardenia Blossom, and Coconut Water. I really love this scent as when I wear this I get a nice cozy warm feeling like I'm sitting by the fire. For me, I differently smell the Vanilla as it's the first scent that hits my nose, then a get the scent of Musk and the Sandalwood makes me feel like I'm by the fire. If this ever comes back since it is limited edition I would repurchase Bae as I'm so in love with this scent. I feel that this also last longer than BFF.
Overall both fragrances are wonderful however Bae is my fave and if this collection doesn't come back I will have to search for something with similar notes to Bea because I really love this and hope they bring this collection back.
Leverage the Durability and Versatility of Faux Flowers, Today
Every business has its theme and message to convey, and landscaping plays a great part in denoting the quality and class of any professional setting. No matter, if it is city shopping mall or an art gallery interior, or a theme park, the interiors and exteriors of the places need to be decorated. But, corporate landscaping is different from residential and other landscaping projects. Corporate places need absolute perfection coupled with improving aesthetic quality for attracting new customers and retaining the old ones. Moreover, these should be cost-effective and have minimum maintenance requirement. Using live plants and flowers can be a brilliant idea for revamping any commercial space.
But, the live plants and flowers have their drawbacks. They fade, wilt, shade petals and also die. Including natural flowers and flowering plants, therefore, seem to be a hectic choice. For this reason, the present landscaping projects are based on the alternative way of using artificial silk trees, plants and flowers for corporate landscaping. These are so akin to their natural cousins that they turn out to be visually indistinguishable. The splash of colors of the artificial flowers and high-end artificial plants are able to create dramatically elegant indoors and outdoors at top class hotels & restaurants, reception desk & meeting rooms of the huge corporate houses, municipal buildings, exotic bars & casinos and can also liven up the bedside of a private hospital room. With their wide varieties, the tall silk flower arrangements can add a minimalist but enchanting ambiance for mesmerizing the customers. Further, the artificial flowers and flowering plants make a commercial space cool and tranquil for more productivity. Let’s have a look of the basics of the artificial flowers.
Lighting up the surrounding
Flowers can be used for every space and for every occasion. No matter where a person is heading to, a commercial setup adorned with flowers is sure to stop him and force him to have a glance. Blooming flowers have the ability to light up the surroundings and whether you include tropical artificial flower arrangements or other artificial flowers for your commercial or residential exteriors or interiors, those are sure to cause a great first impression for creating a buzz about your place.
Great for enhancing mood
An elevated mood stands at the base of any successful profession. Among all the gifts of nature flower is the best, as it can change the vibe and ambiance of any commercial space. Whether it is posh restaurant, a corporate negotiation table or hospital reception, flowers can enliven the space bringing in positive attitude in the minds of all. With inclusion of purple silk tulips and other artificial flowers you can bring life to your setting.
It is possible to match any theme
Every professional space has its own story to tell and the fake botanical products can match any business theme. If you prefer to display a barren look in your commercial place, you may use faux cactus arrangements for the same and for creating Mediterranean ambiance in a luxury restaurant, combination fake tropical trees and tropical silk flower arrangements can play havoc.
You can use wide varieties to your advantage
There is no dearth of colors and shades of the artificial flowers. Those are available in vibrant Blue, Brown, Green, Orange, Pink Purple, Red, white, Yellow and many more. The range of products also includes fake Calla Lilies, Daffodils, Hydrangeas, Marigolds, Orchids, Roses, Peonies, Sunflowers, and Tulips etc. To you give you more landscaping latitude, these are also available in many shapes and sizes like flowering plants, stems, branches & picks, bouquets, garlands, wreaths, centerpieces & candle rings and flower topiaries & balls for both exterior and interior use.
Delicate but strong
All artificial flowers including the pink silk tulips are made from high quality plastic materials giving those a delicate look. The inside of the stems and other parts are made sturdy using wires to make them sufficiently strong for withstanding harsh weather conditions. The replicated flowers are also subjected to different tests for guaranteeing their durability.
These are immortal
The greatest advantage of the artificial flowers is that they never wilt or shade petals. They come in standard sizes and are free from soil and other requirements of natural landscaping elements. You can install them anywhere at the edge of swimming pool or at a corporate entrance for brightening up space. Since these do not require any maintenance, you can place them and forget.
Versatility is the essence
You can get replicated flowers in many varieties and in case you want to have some special requirements that can also be done. They are also available in many colors and combination of colors. This makes the mimic flowers great for all landscaping needs.
Helps to be creative
Fake flowers are great for promoting creativity. Installing the artificial landscaping elements in any commercial landscape helps elevate the mood of the people around. These help in lowering stress and bring in a relaxing environment that helps increase productivity.
Blooms in all seasons
While different types of flowers bloom at different times over the years, using the fake flowers and flowering plants you can grace your commercial space with their glowing beauty. Since these are artificially made, these are not dependent on seasons. So, you can enjoy their alluring beauty round the year without any problem.
Absolutely safe and sound
Fire safety is of prime importance for decoration. The artificial flowers are made fire retardant through special manufacturing process when special fire retardant chemicals are infused into the fake foliage to make them inert. So, these can be safely used in any commercial space.
No tickling of nose
Although all love flowers, there are some unfortunates who cannot stand the fresh smell or are allergic to pollen. Being artificially made, the fake flowers let you install those in any corner you like without such problems.
