I usually make the usual poha upma but wanted to try a spicy masala version and that’s how this masala poha recipe came into picture so tried out immediately for breakfast and enjoyed.

Masala poha recipe

Masala poha recipe a easy poha spiced with indian masalas and vegetables.

  • 1 cup poha (thick)
  • 1/2 cup mixed vegetables
  • 1/4 cup big onion (chopped finely)
  • 1 tbsp coriander leaves (chopped finely)
  • 1 no green chilli (slitted)
  • salt to taste
  • water as needed
Spice powders:
  • 1/8 tsp turmeric powder
  • 1/2 tsp red chilli powder
  • 1/2 tsp garam masala powder
  • 1/4 tsp roasted jeera powder
  1. Take a cup of poha soak in water for 5 mins.I used red poha, which was thick.Rinse well and drain water and set aside.Heat oil in a pan – add mustard seeds,jeera let it crackle then add slit green chilli.
  2. Add onion and saute till transparent, then add cut vegetables,saute for a minute.Then add all the spice powders along with salt.

  3. Saute well for 5 mins in low flame, then add 1/4 cup water and let it cook.
  4. Cook covered for few mins until veggies turn soft but not too mushy.When it still slightly moist add poha.

  5. Toss well until the masalas coat well.Add chopped coriander leaves, mix well and switch off.
  6. Serve hot with curd!

How to make masala poha recipe:

Quinoa dosa recipe a healthy variation for breakfast.This quinoa dosa batter is a great alternate to the usual dosa batter so do try this.You can use the same batter for both idli and dosa as you prefer.

The quinoa  dosa texture comes out crispy and good, taste wise its a bit different from our regular dosa.You cna serve it with chutney, sambar or podi.

Quinoa dosa recipe

Quinoa dosa recipe replace half of rice with quinoa, makes a healthy variation.

  • 1 and 1/2 cups quinoa
  • 1/2 cup idli rice
  • 1/2 cup urad dal
  • 1 tsp fenugreek
  • salt as per taste
  1. Soak rice and quinoa together for at least 3-4 hours.Rinse well and grind until smooth.Sprinkle water as and when it sticks to the sides, but sprinkle and add. Do not add more.Takes 30-40 mins for grinding.

  2. Soak urad dal and fenugreek seeds together for 2 hours, rinse well and grind to a smooth batter.I used my grinder which works best but you can do in mixie too. It takes around 30 mins.

  3. Transfer both the batters to a tall container big enough to hold the batter after fermentation.Add salt to it.Mix well.
  4. Close with lid and set aside for 8 hours for fermenting.This is how the fermented batter will look after 5 hrs.Mix well.The batter will be thick.
  5. As we need to thin the batter, transfer half of the batter or as needed to a separate container, add water to it.The batter should be flowing as shown.Heat a dosa tawa, take a laddle full of batter add 2 laddles on the tawa and spread it thin like this.
  6. Drizzle oil and cook until it starts to brown,Flip over and cook for 2 seconds then fold and serve.
  7. Serve hot with chutney and sambar!

Cappuccino popsicles recipe a frozen treat for summer.

  • 3 cups water
  • 2 heaped tsp instant coffee powder ((add more if you want ti strong))
  • 1/3 cup condensed milk
  • 2 tbsp sugar
  1. To a sauce pan – add water and instant coffee powder.Boil till it reduces to half.Switch off.

  2. Now add sugar to it.Mix well.

  3. Add condensed milk to it and mix well.Cool down completely.

  4. Add it to popsicle moulds.Close with lid.

  5. Freeze for 6 to 8 hours.I freezed it overnight, next day show the moulds under running tap water, gently pull out the popsicles and serve immediately.

  6. Serve chilled!

How to make onion podi uthappam recipe:
  1. To a sauce pan – add water and instant coffee powder.Boil till it reduces to almost half(around 1 and 3/4 cups).Switch off.
  2. Now add sugar to it.Mix well.
  3. Add condensed milk to it and mix well.Cool down completely.
  4. Add it to popsicle moulds.Close with lid.
  5. Freeze for 6 to 8 hours.I freezed it overnight, next day show the moulds under running tap water, gently pull out the popsicles and serve immediately.

Serve chilled!

Onion podi uthappam

Onion podi uthappam easy and tasty south indian breakfast.Usually small onions is used for flavour.

  • 2 cups idli batter
  • 1/4 cup small onion(sliced)
  • idli podi as needed
  • gingelly oil as needed
  1. Take idli batter, do no add water the batter should be thick.Heat dosa tawa.Take 2 laddle fulls of batter and add it to the dosa tawa. Do not spread, it will spread by itself that’s enough.Add chopped small onion on top.

  2. Sprinkle idli podi.Covered for 2 mins in low medium flame.Drizzle oil.
  3. Now carefully flip over and cook for a minute.Flip over and serve hot.
  4. Serve hot with chutney of your choice.
  • If you want you can add chopped curry leaves too.
  • Use small onions for flavour.I used gingelly oil.

Pizza crackers recipe crackers using whole wheat flour.I was little bored of trying cookies also felt like eating something spicy n salty so baked these crackers as this was a experiment didn’t expect anyone else in the house to even taste it but guess what all 5 of us loved it so much, the mini who wants sweet even in sambar liked it…perfect to munch.

Whole wheat and not much of butter too as we add for cookies still it comes out crunchy and taste.The first time I made it was gone in minutes so made it again shot a video too


Pizza crackers recipe

Pizza crackers recipe crackers with pizza flavour using whole wheat flour, crispy and perfect to munch with a cup of tea.

  • 1 cup whole wheat flour
  • 2 tbsp chilled butter
  • 1/4 tsp origano
  • 1/2 tbsp pizza seasoning
  • Salt to taste
  • Chilled water as needed
  1. To a mixing bowl add wheat flour, then butter.I added this pizza seasoning and origano.If you don’t have pizza seasoning – combine chilli flakes and mixed herbs (which comes with pizza when we buy outside) and then add it.

  2. Add pizza seasoning,origano and required salt.Finally add oil.
  3. Mix well until it resembles bread crumbs.Then add chill water little by little.
  4. Knead to a stiff dough just like our chapati dough.Set aside for 15 mins.Then knead again and roll over a baking sheet.Cut the edges to form a square, remove the edges.Prick with fork.While you do this preheat oven at 200 deg C for 10 mins.

  5. Cut into small squares.Lay butter paper on the tray.Arrange the crackers on butter paper and bake in preheated oven at 200 deg C for 12- 15 mins or until golden. Do not over bake then the crackers will become hard.

  6. Cool on wire rack then store in a clean dry airtight container.

Quinoa ven pongal recipe quinoa and dal is cooked together until mushy and tempered with ghee and other tempering items.

  • 1/4 cup quinoa

  3. In a kadai add ghee + oil  then add the tempering finally add cashews and fry until golden.Transfer the tempering to pongal along with required salt.Mix well and serve hot.

Peanut candy popsicles was the idea from my 3 and 1/2 year old who was waiting for me to take out the popsicle molds.Had few leftover peanut candy and when he saw it, he insisted that I should try popsicles with it, though he loves to eat it s such too.

Summer has started and its been so so hot and am making popsicles, juices and sarbath to quench our thirst.

Peanut candy popsicles recipe

Peanut candy popsicles recipe popsicle made with chilli or kadalai mittai or peanut candy, tastes soo good.

  • 1 cup milk (boiled & cooled)
  • 6 to 8 squares peanut candy
  • 2 tbsp cane sugar
  1. Take peanut candies in a bowl, add 1/2 cup hot milk to it.Let it soak for 15 mins.

  2. Add this to mixer jar.Add cane sugar and blend it well.

  3. Add remaining 1/2 cup milk and blend again.Now pour into popsicle mould.

  4. Close with lid.Freeze for 6 hours or overnight preferably.Next day show the mold under running tap water and gently pull out the popsicles and enjoy!

  5. Serve immediately.

You can use the traditional kadala mittai too.

While blending you can even pulse it get textured popsicles.Mittu likes this way so I grinded it smooth.

  1. Take peanut candies in a bowl, add 1/2 cup hot milk to it.Let it soak for 15 mins.
  2. Add this to mixer jar.Add cane sugar and blend it well.
  3. Add remaining 1/2 cup milk and blend again.Now pour into popsicle mold.
  4. Close with lid.Freeze for 6 hours or overnight preferably.Next day show the mold under running tap water and gently pull out the popsicles and enjoy!

Serve immediately.

Nannari sarbath lassi recipe a quick easy and refreshing drink.

  • 1 cup chilled thick curd
  • 1/4 cup chilled ((boiled and cooled))
  • 3 tbsp nannari sarbath
  • 1 tsp chopped nuts for garnish(optional)
  1. To a mixing jug, add curd, then add chilled milk and nannari syrup.

  2. Blend well until frothy and serve immediately.I did not add sugar as the sweetness in the syrup was just right.If you want you can add a tsp of sugar while blending.I used my blender you can use mixer too.

  3. Serve chilled with chopped almonds and a drizzle of nannari syrup.

  • Add sugar if needed.
  • If your milk and curd is not chilled add icecubes wuile blending in that case user mixer to blend.I used my blender attachment.

How to make nannari sarbath lassi recipe:
  1. To a mixing jug, add curd, then add chilled milk and nannari syrup.
  2. Blend well until frothy and serve immediately.I did not add sugar as the sweetness in the syrup was just right.If you want you can add a tsp of sugar while blending.I used my blender you can use mixer too.
