Last week, I had the privilege to attend my first #rStheCon – the annual conference put on by rewardStyle in Dallas, TX for the their top performing bloggers/content creators. It was such a surreal experience. I never imagined I’d be given the opportunity to attend, but I’m incredibly humbled that I was invited to such an amazing conference!

I began this whole blogging/online content creation journey way back in 2006 when I was in school for fashion and retail management. Back then, my plan after graduating was to launch an online clothing boutique, but I never imagined that it I would fall in love with online video creation and production, leading me down a slightly different path.

As my YouTube channel has changed and evolved over the years, launching this blog in 2017 has been the most rewarding experience in my career thus far. It’s provided the space I craved to get back to my blogging roots, write, explore photography and styling, as well as introduce me to incredibly inspiring women along the way! I joined rewardStyle at the end of 2017 and the friendships, guidance, and support its provided in a space that oftentimes feels very lonely has been such a blessing in my life.

If you’re a blogger or online content creator, here are three takeaways I learned at the rewardStyle Conference 2019:

But first, you may be wondering…what is rewardStyle?

RewardStyle is an invitation-only affiliate program that bloggers use to monetize their content. Bloggers and content creators can apply to join to use their services to earn a small commission from purchases made via affiliate links on their blog/social media. The LIKEtoKNOW.it app was created by rewardStyle to make it super easy to shop your favorite blogger’s outfits + more! If you see a photo on Instagram and it includes a #liketkit hashtag and link like this http://liketk.it/2B4vw – you can screenshot the image and when you open up the LTK app, you’ll be able to shop the look and find links to the exact items in the photo! If you don’t have the app, I highly recommend trying it out – you can download it here. {And I’d love for you to follow me here for exclusive content I don’t post anywhere else!}

1. Be open to trying new things and new platforms…and be okay with failing

I can speak from my personal experiences here and say this is one of the best pieces of advice – and it doesn’t just apply to the online world, this could apply to anything in life. Technology changes very fast these days and it’s difficult to keep up. However, in order to adapt and grow, you have to be willing to try new things and experiment to find what works best for you. And, sometimes you have to fail. I believe that every “failure” is an opportunity for growth, and as long as you’re growing – whether it be personally or professionally – you’re on the right track. Keep moving forward and let your “failures” guide you to your next breakthrough…you never know what’s right around the corner!

2. Keep It Real

In today’s Insta-worthy society, people are craving real life stories. Elaborately styled photoshoots are out and #reallife captures are in. While I do believe the internet is a wonderful way to explore and showcase creativity, I feel it’s extremely important to share candid real life moments to show your audience that most moments in life aren’t Insta-perfect.

3. Know who you are and know your purpose

During the keynote speeches on the first day of conference, Charlotte Jones Anderson, the Executive Vice President and Chief Brand Officer of the Dallas Cowboys, gave an inspiring message about the power of a brand. Through her work with the Dallas Cowboys, she’s realized that the foundation of a brand is the purpose, the why behind everything you do. Getting clear on who you are, how you make someone feel, and how you innovate is the key to a successful brand. Carrie Roberts, the Director of Marketing Strategy for T-Mobile, echoed this in her session on building a household name where she talked about the importance of having a clear story and mission behind why you do what you do.

I hope you enjoyed this quick recap of #rStheCon, thanks for reading! And if you’re thinking about starting a blog or a passion project that’s been on your heart, I encourage you to begin!

My beauty routine changes slightly once the weather starts changing in the spring. Although it stays warm in Florida pretty much year-round, the spring season brings more heat and humidity, which causes a few adjustments in my daily routine.

Face

One of the biggest challenges living in a warmer climate is figuring out how to wear makeup that lasts in the balmy weather, yet still looks fresh and natural. I’ve recently discovered the Power Fabric Long-Wear Liquid foundation by Giorgio Armani {shade 3.5} and wow – this formula is unlike anything I’ve tried before! It diffuses skin in a way I’ve never experienced, giving it an airbrushed effect while still appearing and feeling natural. I was surprised that it doesn’t feel heavy in the slightest, despite it being a medium/full coverage foundation. It provides enough coverage to conceal my hyperpigmentation but the velvety, matte finish doesn’t cake or settle into my smile lines. I was a little hesitate to try this one at first because the popular Luminous Silk formula didn’t work for me but I’m so happy I gave it a try! It gives my combination skin just enough glow without being too dewy in the Florida heat.

I’ve been using the Airbrush Flawless Finish Setting Powder by Charlotte Tilburry {in 1 Fair} and it may be one of the best pressed powders I’ve tried in years. The microfine powder is super soft and gives an airbrushed effect without looking like you’re wearing powder. I’m very picky when it comes to powders, too. I’ve never been a huge fan of them because they tend to look too makeup-y {I know that’s not a word but you get what I mean…} and this one looks natural yet actually works. I dust this on my t-zone and under my eyes to set my concealer and it gives a smooth, diffused finish. I’ve also been using my go-to Bobbi Brown blush in Pale Pink {last mentioned here} to add a wash of color to my cheeks. I think the bright pink color is beautiful for spring but it’s one that I gravitate towards all year long.

Eyes

I keep my eye makeup look pretty simple and only use a few colors at a time. The Bobbi Brown Haute Nudes Eyeshadow Palette is my newest obsession and I’ve used it every day since I bought it! It has ten neutral shades that are perfect for spring and great for wearing day to night. My go-to look is using Cream all over my lid with Tulle Sweet and Rose-Suede in my crease. Damask Ball and Champagne Toast both look beautiful swept over the lid and Spun Silk and Vintage Velvet are gorgeous for an evening look. I also like using Vintage Velvet along my upper lash line instead of using an eyeliner pencil. It’s natural, yet still provides depth.

Lips

For my lip color in the spring, I tend to stay within pink and rosey shades. I love the wearing the Fresh Sugar Lip Balm in Petal as well as Bobbi Brown’s Lip Color {the original lipstick formula} in Pale Pink. If I’m going out for awhile and don’t have much time for touch-ups, my absolute favorite lip product is Le Rouge Duo Ultra Tenue by Chanel {Ultra Wear Lip Colour}. If you’re looking for a liquid lipstick that doesn’t dry out your lips and that actually lasts for hours {even through eating/drinking} this is the best of the best!! I’ve been using this product for almost eight years. They’ve recently reformulated it and it’s still one of my faves! It has a clear gloss on one side that you can re-apply throughout the day and the color stays put. I love the shade Merry Rose for spring – a beautiful, natural light pink. Tender Beige is a deeper, mauve-pink and another shade I wear often.

Fragrance

I’m the type of person to change up my fragrances depending on the season, my mood, and even my outfit. I’m slightly obsessed with scents and change them up quite often. Jo Malone’s Wood Sage and Sea Salt was a fragrance I started wearing last spring. It smells like a walk on the beach yet the sage note gives it a warm and comforting depth. I’ve been layering it with a newer discovery, Jo Malone’s English Pear and Freesia. This one smells fruity but not overly sweet. I’m typically not a fan of fruity fragrances but the patchouli note in this one adds balance and keeps it sophisticated.

Another fragrance I’ve fallen in love with is Aerin’s Evening Rose. I tend to gravitate towards rose fragrances but this one is extremely different than the others rose scents in my perfume collection. There are two rose notes, rose centifolia and Bulgarian rose absolute, but what makes it so special are the cognac, blackberry, and incense notes. They contrast beautifully and provide a mysterious, alluring richness to the fragrance. It’s definitely a head turner and one to save for a special occasion, like date night or an evening wedding.

OUTFIT DETAILS: PINK CECE TOP (size xxs) // REBECCA TAYLOR SKIRT (size 0) // CASTANER ESPADRILLES (size 37) // KENDRA SCOTT CUFF BRACELET // KENDRA SCOTT ADJUSTABLE BRACELET // ROSE GOLD NECKLACE // ARIA WICKER BAG

Skirts are one of my favorite clothing items to wear in any season…but there’s something special about the styles that hit stores at the beginning of spring. The beautiful pastel colors, interesting textures, and fun floral prints are a welcome addition to brighten any wardrobe after the cold winter months.

The Midi Skirt

Midi skirts are the style I wear most often. I love their versatility and comfort. To me, midi skirts are a classic silhouette that feel timeless yet modern. Dress them up for work with a button-up blouse, chic scarf, and heels like I wore here, or pair them with a cute cotton tee on the weekends. It’s a style that can be easily transformed day to night. {and one of the reasons I never travel without one!}

This tiered ruffle midi is playful without feeling too young and I adore the colors in this tulle option from Anthropologie. If you’re shopping for a skirt that will last year after year, I suggest investing in one like this silk midi by Rebecca Taylor. The floral print is understated enough to not feel overpowering or too memorable, and the button side slits give it versatility.

For more affordable options I recommend checking out Chicwish.com. They have a wide variety of styles and prints to choose from. I found this navy stripe with pink floral details and fell in love with the gorgeous structured fit, and I think this pastel floral design would be perfect for Easter or a spring wedding.

I am so thrilled to share my closet/office with you today! When Matt and I moved from our small apartment last September, my number one desire was to have a space dedicated as my office and filming room. I wanted to have an inspiring dressing room to fuel my creativity. Now I finally have space in our home dedicated entirely to creating all of my video and blog content! This is where I find inspiration, answer emails, hold meetings, style outfits, edit videos and photos, write blog posts, and everything else it takes to run both my blog and YouTube channel.

My favorite part of this room is the gold etagere. I use this as a way to display various inspiring books and pretty items that bring me joy. One of my most cherished items on the shelf is the hand painted velvet handbag I inherited from my great-grandmother. I was too young when she passed to inquire how/where she wore it but I love imagining the places it’s been. She was one of my earliest style icons afterall.

I use a this clothing rack to display my favorite pieces in my wardrobe. I organize it differently each season or when I get new pieces I want to display. It also serves as my background in most of my YouTube videos.

I’m a shoe lover so having my favorite pairs on display makes me happy. I used this white bookshelf to feature some of my favorites in my wardrobe. I enjoy color-coordinating each pair and selecting styles to showcase every season.

Closet Organization

After Matt and I moved, the closet in this bedroom became cluttered fast. It was a random assortment of books, clothes, camera equipment and lighting, and storage items like our Christmas tree and ornaments. I knew it needed organizing desperately so when Hannah, a pro-organizer and owner of Home Refreshment, reached out to me on Instagram I couldn’t wait to get started!

Here’s what it looked like before:

And here’s after!

To begin, I went through everything from the closet to declutter and purge. I donated the majority of the clothes I didn’t want but I saved a few items to sell on Poshmark {I haven’t had a chance to list anything yet but you can follow me here to shop as soon as I do!}.

Hannah helped me find these hyacinth storage baskets for items like swimsuits, small handbags/clutches, and winter wear. She reorganized my clothes by color to help me when styling outfits. This made such a difference!

I never hang my knits and sweaters so I found these clear bins to store them. I love how the bins fit neatly stacked on top of each other and I can always add more if needed. I also purchased these stackable shoe racks from Target to use for my shoes and to house more storage baskets. We used these white boxes to store notebooks and keepsakes that needed to lay flat. The finished product is exactly what I wanted – functional, organized, and clutter free.

If you’re located in Florida and looking to get organized, you can get in touch with Hannah with Home Refreshment here! And if you’re not local to Florida she offers Skype sessions, too!

While I feel living spaces are ever-changing and evolving, I’m happy to finally be able to share this personal space where I create the content you see from me each week!

Ever since I can remember, I’ve been drawn to timeless, classic styles. One of my earliest style inspirations growing up was my great-grandmother. She had an incredible sense of style. Her ability to look refined and polished came from her choice of carefully selected accessories, as most of her outfits consisted of simple silk blouses and skirts. I find myself thinking of her every time I shop for accessories, and this silk floral scarf from Gal Meets Glam Collection was no exception. The delicate pink floral print instantly reminded me of her as one of her favorite colors was pink. {something else I inherited ;)}

A silk scarf is an instant way to add a touch of elegance to an outfit. It adds a textural interest and is a simple way to showcase your personality. They’re incredibly versatile, too – wear it on your handbag {like I did here}, tie it in your hair, or around your neck. I like this particular scarf because it’s 30×30″ which makes it large enough to drape over your shoulders for an effortless look.

I wore a pastel pleated skirt from H&M (similar style here) and a crisp, white button-up blouse with my scarf. The purple and pink tones in the scarf added interest to my outfit without feeling overbearing or out of place. This is an outfit that can easily be worn to the office.

We experienced a few cool, rainy days in Florida earlier this week which had me reaching for my trench coat. A classic trench coat is a wardrobe staple, especially for spring. It’s a timeless piece that can be worn year after year. Not only is it a rainy day essential, but it also adds a touch of sophistication to any outfit.

WHITE DRESS {size xs} // YELLOW ESPADRILLES {size 37} – both included in the sale!

If you follow me on Instagram, you may have seen me mention the ShopBop Buy More, Save More Sale that started this week. ShopBop is an online store I shop at frequently – they have free shipping and free returns, plus it’s Amazon Prime eligible which is always a plus! There are only three days left to shop their Buy More, Save More sale so I highly recommend checking it out soon! You can save 15% off orders of $200+, 20% off orders of $500, and 25% off orders of $800+ with the code “GOBIG19” {full price and sale items are included}.

Last year I bought a pair of these beige espadrilles and they were some of my most-worn shoes last spring/summer. They’re incredibly comfortable and easy to walk in. If you watched my recent spring haul video on YouTube, you saw that I recently added this yellow pair to my collection and I currently have this blush pair in my cart ready to purchase. I’ve tried out several other brands of espadrilles (including these Target dupes – they look cute but are so painful to walk in, I had to return them!) and none compare to the comfort of these. Trust me, they’re worth the price.

These pink See by Chloé espadrilles were a gift from Matt for my birthday last year are back again this spring and also included in the sale. And if you love bow details as much as I do, you’ll love these pink bow sandals.

There are tons of amazing spring clothing pieces also included in the sale. This breezy white dress is a recent purchase of mine. It’s one of those classic warm weather dresses that can be styled many different ways. I also love this belted yellow midi dress, yellow has become one of my go-to colors for this spring.

I wear a lot of blue and white pieces in the spring, it’s a color combo that immediately feels feminine yet timeless. This blouse with eyelet details would pair beautifully with white jeans. I adore the ruched sleeves on this blue top and the delicate floral print on this dress also immediately caught my attention.

You can find cute jewelry on sale, too, like these coral and blush lucite hoops. I have my eye on this beach-ready crochet tote, too.

There are so many great items to choose from during this sale! Don’t forget that it ends on March 2nd, so shop while you can and feel free to share your picks with me below!

OUTFIT DETAILS: LOFT TIE WAIST PANTS {0 PETITE} // REISS SILK CAMI {old, similar here} // WHITE BLAZER {old, similar here} // NUDE PUMPS {size 7} // KATE SPADE HANDBAG {old, similar here} // BP SUNGLASSES

As the temperatures begin to rise {it got up to 86 degrees today here in Orlando!}, I find myself seeking out light pastel colors to wear. Although spring hasn’t officially arrived, pastels are a nice way to incorporate a light, airy feel to an outfit after a season of heavy textures and knits.

You may recognize these lilac pants from my latest spring haul video on YouTube but I can’t stop wearing them. I continuously find myself searching for a good pair of trousers that are comfortable yet still match my feminine personal style and these tie waist pencil pants from LOFT fit the bill (on sale right now for $39.50!). The style is sophisticated and tailored but also fun – perfect for the spring season ahead. The pastel purple is playful yet subtle enough to feel polished for work. They’re incredibly versatile, too. You can dress them up with a classic v-neck blouse like this one, but also wear them on the weekends with a casual spring knit and comfy sneakers {these eyelet lace sneakers are so cute!}.

I styled mine with an old silk lace cami from Reiss {here’s similar option}, a white blazer {similar here}, and my go-to nude pumps. I currently have this chambray blouse on my wishlist to wear with them, too. If you’re not into pastels but like the tie waist style of pants, here’s a classic black and white pair that are still great for spring.

One of the best parts about living in Orlando is the seemingly endless amounts of hotels and resorts to visit when Matt and I are in search for a unique date. The great part is, most area hotels don’t require you to be a hotel guest to experience the dining options, spas, or lounges they have to offer. For example, Capa at the Four Seasons is a great spot for tapas with incredible views, and the Waldorf Astoria’s pristine spa is the perfect spot for an indulgent massage or facial – complete with a relaxing tea lounge & steam room to enjoy after your treatment.

Although we feel like we’ve exhausted exploring the Disney World resorts {it’s our go-to anytime we have family in town visiting…so we’re there quite often!}, I’m always up for a day at Disney’s Boardwalk. It’s the ideal spot for a leisurely stroll along the turn-of-the-century inspired promenade, reminiscent of Atlantic City or Coney Island. I adore its whimsical charm and alluring pastel colored cottages. It immediately feels like you’re stepping back in time.

I wore the Zelda dress from Gal Meets Glam Collection {a holiday release last seen in this post here} for our day at Boardwalk. The vintage-inspired polka dots and flirty pink ruffles felt perfect for the occasion and I received many compliments on it throughout the day. It’s one of my favorite dresses in my closet so I’m always happy when I get the chance to wear it.

Since we were doing a lot of walking, I paired it with my white Superga sneakers for comfort. These sneakers are clean and classic, making them ideal for pairing with dresses.

There are several shops, dining options, and entertainment to choose from at the Boardwalk. And at night you can catch various street performers like jugglers and others you’d expect to see at a carnival. It’s a truly a one-of-a-kind experience!

And if you’re craving a sweet treat there’s more than enough choices. Grab an ice cream from Ample Hills Creamery, a key lime tart at the Boardwalk Bakery, or a fresh funnel cake at the food cart to enjoy as you walk around. For an adult-only treat, my personal favorite is the Frozen Grand Margarita at the Boardwalk Joe’s Marvelous Margaritas food cart.

If you’re a Florida local or visiting the area, I highly recommend checking out Disney’s Boardwalk. But just a heads up, there is a three hour parking limit. Also, I imagine it will become much more crowded once Disney’s Skyliner {the new gondola transportation system} begins this fall since one of the access points is located nearby!
