The Grand Proposal at Bolsa Palace Porto Portugal
R. de Ferreira Borges, 4050-253 Porto, Portugal
Neoclassicism Style

The Moorish Revival ARAB ROOM - Reception Hall

The Bolsa Palace - The Stock Exchange Palace is a historical building in Porto, Portugal. The palace was built in the 19th century by the city's Commercial Association in Neoclassical style. It is located in the Infante D. Henrique Square in the historical centre of Porto, designated World Heritage Site by UNESCO.

Several rooms of the Palace - Tribunal Room, Assembly Room, Golden Room - display furniture by José Marques da Silva, allegoric paintings by José Maria Veloso Salgado and João Marques de Oliveira, sculptures by Teixeira Lopes and many other works of art.

The is by far probably the most beautiful and grandeur room in the Bolsa Palace. I really feel like a princess when I am in this magical room.

The highlight of the Palace is, however, the Arab Room, built between 1862 and 1880 by Gonçalves e Sousa. The room is decorated in the exotic Moorish Revival style, fashionable in the 19th century, and is used as reception hall for personalities and heads of state visiting Porto.

Doctor Victor Teng & Sara Shantelle Lim's Wedding at Registrar of Marriage
Sara Shantelle Lim becomes MRS TENG on 16th May 2019
ROM Lunch at 2 Michelin Stars Shisen Hanten by Chen Kentaro

(Sara Shantelle Lim & Doctor Victor Teng)

16th May 2019 - marks a very significant date for me in my life. I have officially moved onto the next stage in life with my #soulmate, Dr Victor Teng. I am officially Mrs Teng today. A huge thank you to my parents in law who flew down from Penang to join us for our #ROM and ROM lunch at 2 Michelin stars - Shisen Hanten. Also, a huge thank you to my parents, relatives and our 2 lovely ROM witnesses Janice and Emily who made this day very special to us. Not to forget, my very adorable God son - Christopher, for coming too! Thank you so much..

(Sara's parents, Sara & Victor)

A lot of my friends were asking me, "Sara! How come your ROM date isn't on your wedding banquet day??" For those of you who don't know, my husband was born in Penang, Malaysia. Victor studied in UK since young, and then continued to study Medical School in UK too, before he graduated and came to work in Singapore. His parents and relatives are still in Penang, hence this year I will be having 2 wedding banquets, 1 in Penang and 1 in Singapore. I didn't want to put everything together as the logistics of having 2 weddings, in 2 different countries and a solemnization all within 1 week would have been very hectic for us.

I AM HAVING 2 WEDDING BANQUETS IN NOVEMBER 2019

(Sara, Victor, Victor's parents)

Not only will I have 2 weddings to prepare for, we both have siblings and relatives living overseas. My elder sister, Lora Christelle Lim is living in Sydney, Australia, with my brother in law who is working as a doctor in Sydney, hence he would not have so much time to fly down so many times for 2 different weddings. On top of it, Victor's sisters, are staying in Melbourne, hence, they also don't have that much time to fly around for 2 weddings unless we pack it really close together. We are basically an international family. Victor's younger brother is working in London. Everyone is going to fly down from different countries just to attend both our weddings. Imagine the planning and logistics involved to plan for this 2 weddings. Not to forget my sister have 2 little kids - Caspian and Calissa to bring along and Victor's elder sister also has a baby to bring along too. It is not easy traveling with little children.

(Janice Leong, Christopher, Sara, Victor)

I'm very thankful that my girlfriends - Janice and Emily were my wedding witnesses. Special guest - My very adorable God Son - Christopher, he looks so cute!

(Sara, Emily Teo, Christopher, Janice)

Emily was so sweet as she took time off from work just to make it to my ROM. She's one busy busy girl, building the roads in Singapore for us to walk on. I'm so happy that she took the time off her busy hectic schedule to come spend this special day and occasion with me. Thank you babe!

(Gorgeous Bridal Flowers from Royal Blooms www.RoyalBlooms.com.sg)

I'm really happy that I've met my soulmate. Honestly, it is very hard to marry someone that you truly love and he loves you back the same or even more. Usually, most people tend to settle for in a relationship. But I'm happy and proud to say that Victor is my Dream Guy! He's a perfect husband, very mild tempered, showers me with lots of hugs and kisses, intelligent, hilarious, good hearted, tall and handsome. He would make a good father figure to my kids in future. Hence, I'm very thankful today that I've been so blessed to meet someone like him. I would love to spend the rest of my life with my perfect man.

Bridal Flowers from Royal Blooms

My beautiful white Bridal Rose Bouquet was from Royal Blooms. I wanted ROSES as I love ROSES. They are classic, conventional, easy to find, simple. I told Royal Blooms, to surprise me, I wanted white flowers with a little mix of other fresh flowers, as I wanted a White ROM themed. All my guests were dressed in White too on this day, so it would look nice for our photo shoot.

Royal Blooms specialize in making Bridal Flowers. They have bridal packages, for bridal bouquets, flower arches, wedding ring holders for ROM day, pre-wedding photo shoots, and for the big wedding day too. Alexis from Royal Blooms was the one that took charge of my flowers. She actually delivered the flowers personally to my doorstep on my ROM day in the morning to ensure that the flowers were fresh and it would look its best.

My God Son - Christopher

After our Solemnization was done at ROM itself, we went to celebrate this special day with our loved ones at 2 Michelin Stars Shisen Hanten by Chen Kentaro at Mandarin Gallery Orchard Hotel.

ROM Lunch at Shisen Hanten by Chen Kentaro
2 Michelin Stars at Mandarin Gallery Orchard Hotel

I chose this beautiful restaurant is because it has a stunning decor and that it serves Chinese cuisine. Awarded 2 Michelin Stars, the food was of top standards. It was also located in the city center, hence it was really convenient for all my guests to attend. On top of that, I wanted all my guests to be able to be seated on 1 BIG table. I don't want any one to be seated on the second table. I didn't want any of my special guest to feel less important in any way. Hence, this was the perfect place. Shisen Hanten also gave me a VIP Special Private Room for this function. They provided excellent service. They also allowed my Wedding Cake Sponsor to go early in order to set up their beautiful delicious cake which was indeed the perfect centerpiece!

Shisen Hanten Main Dining Hall

Shisen Hanten VIP Private Room

There's a minimum spending of SGD$1000 for the Private Room with 1 Table. Shisen Hanten also has another bigger private room with 2 tables, and that's SGD$2000 minimum spending for that room.

Wedding Cake from WeddingCake.SG

The moment Victor and I walked into Shisen Hanten VIP Private Room, we were surprised by our wedding cake, which was already set up at a corner of the room. It was so beautiful. They set it up about an hour before we arrived.

I told Wedding Cakes SG that my wedding themed colours was White and Gold, and I like ROSES.
Look at what they surprised me with!?

Our gorgeous wedding cake was a Chocolate Cake made with White and Gold Roses fondant. I really loved the Golden ROSES Petals as they looked so real and are edible. It is really impressive but yet delicious. It looked so real that Victor was smelling the roses? He's such a joker. :)

Can you SPOT our names on the cake??

That's what I love about Wedding Cakes SG, they really make something that is one and only, fully customized to what you like and want, and on top of it, they still make something so special with our NAMES on it, that was really memorable for us. Just simply unique and one of a kind!

On the lower tier of the cake, there were very beautiful handmade cupcakes, that was made with buttercream, to look like real white roses. Can you spot the difference? Guess which are the white roses cupcakes and which are the real white rose flowers? Honestly, the cupcakes were so perfectly made that, they actually really looked like the real roses that was mixed among them. I love them! Just don't eat the wrong ones!

Dining - Sara Shantelle Lim goes to NOX
 Dining in the Dark
269 Beach Rd, Singapore 199546

I love it when, my husband gives me a surprise. Once in a while, he will plan a random date and bring me around Singapore to try the different places and dishes for dinner. This time round, he drove me somewhere near Arab Street, and I immediately saw NOX signboard by the road side, and guessed that this was the place he was going to take me to. I was RIGHT! I haven't been here before, although I've heard about it from friends before.

Who knew that dining in complete darkness could be fun?

The moment we walked into level 1, main entrance, you will see modern chairs and furnishings, mostly in black inside. It has a warm light setting and it is easy to the eyes. They also have a gorgeous bar set up at the end of the room, perfect for chilling and waiting for the waiter to bring us to our dining table up stairs.

Well, once you walk into the place with your reservations, their friendly waiter will explain to you, how you are suppose to eat in the dark, before they bring you to their official NOX dining area, whereby you literally eat in COMPLETE DARKNESS. You cannot even see your hands in front of you. But before you do that, you MUST remove all digital items from your body, like your mobile phones, your digital watch which has light, etc. NO LIGHT is allowed in their dark dining room. They have some lockers situated at the level 1 wait area, whereby you can lock up your belongings.

Next they will explain to you, how you should be eating your food. Basically, there are 12 dishes that you would try, 4 sets of appetizers, 4 sets of mains, and 4 sets of desserts. All 4 appetizers would be served at the same time, placed in a DIAMOND shaped tray. You are to feel your food, and eat them from a clockwise direction from the bottom dish first. The fun part of this whole experience is that you and your partner can actually try to guess what you are eating. At the end of the whole dining experience, when you are brought back down to their waiting area, the waiter would show you photos from their IPAD on what you are eaten upstairs in their dark room.

WINE & DINE AWARDS

It was a really fun and one of a kind experience for me. The good thing about this place is that they have opened up a restaurant whereby, the disabled people who cannot see are able to work there. Apparently, every single wait staff at the upstairs DARK room are people who can't see. They really used their sense of hearing abilities to bring you and guide you to your seats. They are really good at what they do, and their service upstairs was excellent too. 2 thumbs up for this place!

Highly recommended to friends and tourist who wants to try something different and exciting for your dining experience. This place has also won a lot of awards! Check it out~

Aesthetics - Sara Shantelle Lim
LIFTERA HIFU Treatment
EHA Clinic with Doctor Elias Tam
Non-evasive Face Lift & Contouring

(After my Liftera Hifu Treatment - Tighter and Firmer Cheeks!)

So every girl wants to have that perfect oval face, the chiseled look. I used to go for Botox injections to make my jaw line more defined and smaller. But now, with the latest technology, you can make your cheeks and jaw line smaller by a lifting process called LIFTERA Hifu

Well, you know I'm very scared of the slightest pain, so I actually requested for some numbing cream. But from what I heard, most people probably don't need to use this.

Numbing Cream & Wait

What is Liftera HIFU?

HIFU stands for High Intensity Focused Ultrasound, that is used for Face Lifting and Body Contouring.

Why do Liftera?

Liftera Lifting is A non-invasive lifting and contouring treatment for the face, neck area and body. It’s the first Liftera™ treatment, using the original theory of Thermal Diffusion Treatment (TDT ™) Technology. The treatment theory is able to get various types of heat energy into the skin more effectively, and it is effective for strengthening of the skin and body such as face lifting, skin tightening, body shaping and line correction. Unlike conventional lifting techniques, Liftera Lifting is much lesser painful for the patient, with intuitive design and immediate results, as well as better results in 2 months.

Face Lifting and Sculpting

Dermal layer and SMAS layer, which is the target depth in the skin, can be applied with heating energy in two ways technique of micro-focusing and diffusion to give thermal effect to all layers of the skin. Strong thermal energy causes contraction and neo-collagenesis in the skin.

Body Contouring and Tightening

TDT ™ (Thermal Diffusion Treatment) Technology is used to effectively accumulate diffused thermal energy at three depths of subcutaneous fat layer. Subcutaneous fat tissue that is weak in heat, is destroyed and decreased and absorbed by large amount of macrophages.

What is TDT TM ?

The applicator of Liftera provide a procedure on curved area of the skin surface by moving technique. Unlike general HIFU procedure, Liftera treatment irradiate at a certain depth in the skin by using at 10 Hz as faster velocity of High Intensity Focused Ultrasound without any damage of epidermis. It is the latest anti-aging technology to stimulate collagen by giving strong heat effect to dermal collagen fiber.

Efficacy

Liftera transducer is not only giving facial result, but also gives the best efficacy of dramatic body tightening. In case of temperature, when you irradiate subcutaneous fat area, Liftera transducer technology can irradiate above 65 °C thermal energy, therefore it can give good thermal effect on the subcutaneous fat area

Comfortability

Liftera can generate stable and precise Peak Power by integral applicator and special designed digital engine. If the Peak Power is too low, the efficacy is insignificant, and if it is too high, it can damage to surrounding tissues. Liftera generate stable and precise Peak Power to increase the efficacy in the tissue by the thermal energy for the pain relief of the patient

Sara Shantelle Lim doing LIFTERA HIFU Video

Sara Shantelle Lim LIFTERA HIFU at EHA Clinic with Doctor Elias Tam - YouTube

So this is how the LIFTERA HIFU Machine works on my face. Its like a holding device that glide around my face and neck area. It basically makes my cheeks lift up and become firmer. Then if you want to remove the turkey neck, you can do this on your neck area. It has a mild numbing and weird sensation. It is quite bearable. Not exceptionally painful. But definitely you will feel a slight discomfort. That's when you know that this treatment is working. You can ask for a higher power if you feel nothing, or a lower power if it is too painful for you.

Knowing me, I went for the mildest power.

You can see from this video that my other side of the cheeks is already lifted and smaller than the cheeks that Doctor Tam is currently working on. It has INSTANT AMAZING Results!

I've been going to Doctor Elias Tam for over 6-8 years, I've lost count. I think it is important that you find a doctor that you are comfortable with. My friends and family have all been going to him as they have seen the results he has done for me. It is really impressive.

Temple of Zeus
Athens 105 57, Greece

The Temple of Olympian Zeus, also known as the Olympieion or Columns of the Olympian Zeus, is a former colossal temple at the center of the Greece capital Athens. It was dedicated to "Olympian" Zeus, a name originating from his position as head of the Olympian gods.

What is the Temple of Olympian Zeus used for?

The Temple of Olympian Zeus in Olympia is a hexastyle building, which was erected over three steps of stylobate. The entire monument was made of limestone and is covered with stucco. Why was The Temple of the Olympian Zeus in Athens important?

The Temple of the Olympian Zeus in Athens, Greece: This half-ruined temple is dedicated to Zeus, the chief of the Olympian Gods, and that is how it took its name, the temple of the Olympian Zeus. ... However, the works stopped in 510 BC due to political disorders, when the tyrant Hippias was exiled from Athens.

How old is The Temple of Olympian Zeus?

The building of the Temple of Olympian Zeus actually began in the 6th Century by Peisistratos but work was stopped either because of a lack of money or because Pisistratus's son, Hippias, was overthrown in 510 BC. The temple was not finished until the Emperor Hadrian completed in 131 AD, seven hundred years later.

Why was The Temple of Zeus at Olympia destroyed?

The Temple of Zeus at Olympia was an ancient Greek temple in Olympia, Greece, dedicated to the god Zeus. The templebuilt in the second quarter of the fifth century BCE, was the very model of the fully developed classical Greek temple of the Doric order.

How long did it take to build The Temple of Zeus at Olympia?

12 years
After his work in Athens was done, Phidias traveled to Olympia around 432 B.C. to start on what was to be considered his best work, the statue of Zeus. On arriving he set up a workshop to the west of the temple. He would take the next 12 years to complete the project.

EVENTS - Sara Shantelle Lim & Janice Leong
at Neon Pigeon for New Thai Golden Spirit Mekhong
The Spirit of Thailand
1 Keong Saik Rd, 089109

Seems like there's a new brew coming into Singapore. Janice Leong (@janiqueel) and I went to a new Rum launch. It was held at this quaint place called Neon Pigeon. The moment I stepped into this place, I liked it. I gave me a very "New York" Vibe. It was dimly lit, there's a bar the moment you enter, then you see both standing high tables for people having a drink at the bar area, then you will see some high dinner tables and well as some low normal comfortable sitting tables, and also some sofa seats. This place has seating that suit the happening people who likes to stand around to mingle, as well as the peeps that wants to just have a cosy, lazy dinner by the corner hidden behind the scenes. Splendid for a dual personality like me, sometimes I just want to sit in a dark corner and mind my own business, sometimes I don't mind going to the bar to mingle.

Well anyways, I went there for this new Rum called Mekhong from Thailand. There's so many different types of Rum in the market now. But this whiskey is pretty tasty I must say, most of all when they had such a good cocktail mixologist. We were given 3 different drinks to try, and then vote for which we liked best!

How FUN!

Okay, I went there with an empty stomach, so we decided to fill ourselves with some of their food first before we proceeded with the taste testing of the alcohol.

1st Drink - Mekhong Midnight

It was STRONG and BOLD, kind of reminded me a little of THE OLD FASHION (How did my rum taste like whiskey?). This is probably suitable for the REAL RUM DRINKERS - who prefers their Rum without much of other mixes. Someone who would truly appreciate the define taste of the real Rum brew. This almost tasted like it was "Rum on the Rocks" for me. Well, I'm a sweet tooth, so I kind of preferred the 2nd and 3rd cocktail in the line.

OMG - I googled this..

Despite being known as a whisky, Mekhong is much more a rum. The distilled spirit is made from 95 percent sugar cane/molasses and five percent rice. The distilled spirit is then blended with indigenous herbs and spices to produce its aroma and taste. Mekhong is distilled, blended, and bottled at the Bangyikhan Distillery on the outskirts of Bangkok. It contains 35 percent alcohol by volume, and it is used in a cocktail called the "Thai Sabai"

NO WONDER THIS RUM TASTE LIKE WHISKEY
I'm confused now. Is this a Rum or Whiskey?

Yup.. We were eating and drinking. Making sure we were filling our tummies. Not to forget my cute God Son - Christopher. He joined us for this really cool event too. This is a picture of one of their Tapas served there. This was their Barramundi Fish. This small plate is SGD$18. They have a bigger serving of this too. All their Tapas have a small and large serving. But if you are like me, I like vareity, this is good enough to share among 2 pax, so that you can order other dishes too.

Neon Pigeon's Barramundi Fish

It was absolutely delicious. It has really crispy fried ginger on top of it, if I'm not mistaken. Then below it has a wide variety of flavors that explodes in your mouth when you eat it. It also has sort of a BURNT taste to it, kind of reminded me of those Mentai dishes when you go to a Japanese Restaurant, whereby they torch a piece of food under the hot direct fire. I will order this again for sure, when I go there again.

2nd Drink - Mekhong Thai Sabai

This was the 2nd drink I had that night, this was MY FAVOURITE. It has a citrus taste, its the right mix of sweet and sour, very playful on the palate. I really loved this. I could probably drink this all night on a girls night out. Its light, yet delicious, yet it has just the right amount of alcohol to get you happy high.

Janice Leong @Janiqueel and her Son Christopher

Neon Pigeon - Hummus

By the way, I really love hummus. This is probably one of their signature dishes at Neon Pigeon. Probably a must try. It is light enough as an appetizer, but it is also filling enough if you eat this entire dish on your own (ok, for a girl only, if you're a guy, you need more food). This is really good. So far, the best hummus I've tasted was at Blu at Dempsey, and La Brasserie at The St Regis Hotel Singapore. This hummus at Neon Pigeon, taste a little lighter (more light in flavour) but it is still delicious.

Neon Pigeon - Soft Shell Crab in Chinese Bao

Okay, I don't have a picture of it when it was still pretty. This was a shot of their soft shell crab served in a Chinese Bao. I like this very fusion combination. That's the fun thing about Tapas. Its a variety of tiny food. Try a little bit of this and that, and you are full. This Chinese Bao is warm and nice, while the soft shell crab was still crispy inside it. Its a very good mix - Soft & Crispy.

3rd Drink - Mekhong ESS

Okay, I don't really taste much alcohol in this drink at all, probably most suitable for a NEWBIE Alcohol Drinker, oh wait, maybe they forgot to add the whiskey/rum in our drink? Did they? Well, I don't taste much of the spirit at all in this, maybe it was because we started drinking the drinks from the strongest to the weakest one. What's happening?!? I can taste a HINT of coconut juice in this. Is this real coconut juice? I need more of this. Coconut Juice is good for health yes? This drink was light and light and light. There's really no other way to describe this drink.

So... If I were to rank the drinks to my preference.

MEKHONG THAI SABAH IS THE WINNER!
then.. maybe the Mekhong ESS and then finally the Mekhong Midnight.
I must say, most guys would probably go the Mekhong Midnight.
Well, TASTE IS VERY SUBJECTIVE.

Janice, Christopher and I had a taste of a lot of their other food. I really liked this place a lot, because its fun and happening. Perfect for a first awkward date? You don't have to hold a conversation every single second of the date. You can just really enjoy their really cool music playlist while tasting their mouth watering food and amazing cocktail from their special bar. Its dimly lit, so girls, you will always look perfect in that orange light. Guys, it is perfect for a romantic night, or just a fun casual night with you friends too, cause this place is fun fun fun. I was truly entertained the entire night. You can even see the chefs cooking and preparing their food as it is a OPEN KITCHEN CONCEPT. You will never feel bored.

Excellent place, very impressive customer service from their wait staff too, friendly chefs, I will come back for sure SOON!

I GOOGLED THIS

MEKHONG Thai Rum
1 bottle of Mekhong Thai Rum is SGD$78 on Lazada Singapore
700ml with 35% Alcohol

MEKHONG's HISTORY

Mekhong (แม่โขง) is Thailand's first domestically produced branded golden spirit. It is also known as "The Spirit of Thailand".

In 1914, the ownership of the privately-owned Sura Bangyikhan Distillery was transferred to the government of Thailand to be under the supervision of the Excise Department, Ministry of Finance. The department then opened a bidding for a concession to raise money for the treasury and authorized the bidder to produce and distribute spirits within a specified area.
The concession agreement expired in 1927 during the reign of King Prajadhipok. The Department then cancelled the concession for spirit distillation and distribution before taking over the spirit production on 1 April 1929. The distillery was modernized and it produced a new "28-degree" blended spirit under a number of brands including "Chiang-Chun", which is still available today. As for spirit distribution, the department continued with the concession and appointed wholesalers for each area.
Later, the Excise Department concocted another blended spirit using herbs combined with a traditional medicated liquor recipe. Herbs and spices were fermented in a spirit of high alcohol content before adding the desired flavor, aroma, and the preferred degree of alcohol. The result was a new kind of spirit which was smooth enough to be drunk neat. It was further developed into a "special blended spirit" which could be enjoyed neat or with a mix of soda. In those days, the preferred drink was imported whiskey mixed with soda. This imported whiskey resulted in a substantial loss of income to the country each year. The special blended spirit produced by the Excise Department helped reduce imports significantly.
Under the government of Field Marshal Plaek Pibulsongkram, Thailand demanded that four provinces located on the right side of the Mekong River be returned from French occupation. This led to the Indochina war. These provinces were Siemrat, Phra Tabong, Si Sophon, and Champasak. Luang Wichitwathakan, the then-Director-General of the Fine Arts Department composed Kham Khong, a patriotic song with Thai lyrics using the melody of the Western song Swanee River. This song was created to remind Thai people of these four provinces so that they would always be remembered as a part of Thailand.
The Kham Khong song was very popular and avidly instilled a patriotic sense into the hearts of Thai people. Such a dramatic effect influenced the Excise Department to use "Mekhong" to name the 35-degree special blended spirit that was newly produced in 1941.

TRAVEL - Sara Shantelle Lim Travels to GREECE
Athens, Santorini & Mykonos Islands (Part 2)
IN GREECE ATHENS - Ancient Agora of Athens,

Ancient Agora of Classical Athens
Adrianou 24, Athina 105 55, Greece

Temple of Hephaestus

When you go to Athens, all you think about is The Acropolis, actually the entire Athens is filled with lots of beautiful buildings. Both standing buildings and ruins. Honestly, to me, there's nothing more magnificent than these roman building behind me. If I had all the money in the world, I would love to build an entire palace that looks something like this, roman themed with high ceilings and many countless high pillars, with such granduer.

Temple of Hephaestus
Athens 105 55, Greece

The Temple of Hephaestus or Hephaisteion or earlier as the Theseion, is a well-preserved Greek temple; it remains standing largely as built. It is a Doric peripteral temple, and is located at the north-west side of the Agora of Athens, on top of the Agoraios Kolonos hill.

Apart from The Acropolis of Athens, truly, there are many more places to visit in Athens. Such as, The Ancient Agora of Classical Athens, The Roman Agora, The Temple of Olympian Zeus, Syntagma Square, Temple of Hephaestus, Temple of Athena Nike, Arch of Hadrian, Zappeion, Gazi, and so many more.. Staying in Athens for a few days, wouldn't be enough to visit everything. I would recommend staying in Athens City itself for at least 1 week.

What is The Ancient Agora of Athens Used For?

The Ancient Agora of Athens is the gathering place for an assembly. In Greek, Agora means a central public place. The agora was the center of the athletic, spiritual, artistic and political life in Athens.

Greece is ruled by Democracy

For the reason that there was democracy, people couldn't just be a leader, they had to be elected by the citizens first. In Ancient Greecedemocracy was the reason why they had no dictator or tyrant. People in Ancient Greece believed that citizens should choose rulers, and vote on matters themselves.

Museum of The Ancient Agora

I really like the structure of this building. The pillars and the length of the building looks really grandeur. Very nice for a photo shoot.

The museum is housed in the Stoa of Attalos, and its exhibits are connected with the Athenian democracy. The collection of the museum includes clay, bronze and glass objects, sculptures, coins and inscriptions from the 7th to the 5th century BCE, as well as pottery of the Byzantine period and the Turkish occupation. The exhibition within the museum contains work of art which describes the private and public life in ancient Athens.

In 2012, new sculpture exhibition was added to the museum which includes portraits from Athenian Agora excavation. The new exhibition revolves around portraits of idealized gods, officially honored people of the city, wealthy Roman citizens of the 1st and 2nd century; CE, 3rd-century citizens and finally on work of art from private art schools of late antiquity.

Hans & Gretel Athens

When I was strolling around Athens City Center, I can't help but noticed that a lot of people are eating ice cream from a very BIG and LONG cone. It looks really COLOURFUL, eye catching, and delicious all at the same time. Then I started smelling something really sweet and buttery, and I spotted a magical shop with a super long queue. I knew I had to check it out! When I went in, everything felt magical inside. It was fun and it smells like Charlie and The Chocolate Factory, you can see many girls dressed in costumes preparing lots of ice cream and cones and waffles for the people waiting in the line.

About Hans & Gretel

They are highly reviewed on Trip Advisor and other websites.

The good-natured witch Emily, Hans and Gretel traveled all over the world, tasted delicious sweets and finally discovered the magical recipes of bubble waffle, chimney cake and cotton candy.

Look at all the colourful and super long cones. I love it!

Well, I'm a ice cream monster.
One Ice Cream a Day, Keeps Sara Happy all Day Long!

I found this video from their HANS & GRETEL's FACEBOOK
Looks good isn't it?

Go try it!

Monastiraki Flea Market
Ifestou 2, Athina 105 55, Greece

There's quite a few FLEA Markets in Athens. There's the Monastiraki Flea Market, Pandrossou Street Market, Thissio Market, etc. Its all located at the same area, so its would be nice for you to check them all out. Its busy and buzzing, you see the locals, going on with their daily lives, but you also see lots of tourist heckling for cheaper souvenirs.

They sell lots of souvenirs, bags, shoes, sweaters, meat, spices, fruits, vegetables, etc. Its always nice to check out flea markets, cause then you will see whats the main item that each country would sell. The items there are all reasonably priced. I bought some fresh fruits!

I HAVE NEVER TRULY SEEN REAL POULTRY LIKE THIS BEFORE

There's a WHOLEEE SECTION of BUTCHERS. I felt like I was in a HORROR MOVIE or something. It was just rows and rows of butchered meat, whole PIGS, and parts of LAMB, and Cow, etc. Quite scary, as I don't see much of such whole animals on sales on the racks in the supermarket. Feels completely different to be seeing these slaughtered animals in the real.

The market sells a lot of Olives too. I think the Greeks use a lot of Olives in their traditional Greek food. They are also famous for their Olive Oil. Extra Virgin Olive Oil.

Some dried fruits..

In Athens, they sell lots of spongy looking thing, apparently its like corals, from the ocean that you can use to scrub your body when you shower.

There are seriously lots of sea sponges everywhere in all the gift shops in Athens.  These sea sponges are also inexpensive and drug from the bottom of the sea the old fashioned way by divers from Kalymnos Island.

History of Athens Sponges

The History and Tradition of Sponge Diving in Kalymnos Greece, Dodecanese: The small Dodecanese island of Kalymnos in the Aegean Sea is renowned as the center of the Greek sponge diving industry, which has flourished on the island since the ancient times. The history of sponge diving in Greece dates back to antiquity. The sponge and its usage is mentioned in the Homeric epics of Iliad and Odyssey, as well as in the writings of the philosopher Aristotle. The philosopher Plato also refers to sponge as an article that was commonly used in bathing, mostly by the rich people.

TRAVEL - Greece Athens, Santorini, Mykonos
Sara Shantelle Lim Travels to Athens Greece to visit The Acropolis, The Roman Agora,
Athens Greece Main City, Dynasta Central Suites Athens, Traditional Greek Food
(PART 1)

During my Singapore Airlines flying days, I did manage to see The Acropolis with some of my colleagues. But honestly, it feels completely different to be traveling to a beautiful place with "strangers" as compared to your loved ones. Also, I did not manage to have enough time to visit Santorini and Myokonos while I was working for Singapore Airlines. Hence, I told myself that once, I find my Mr Right guy, I will go visit Athens again.

So here are the details of my trip

I usually use AGODA APP (www.Agoda.com) to book all my hotels.

Dynasta Central Suites Athens
15-19 Praxitelous Athens Greece 10562
from Agoda website

I booked this place called Dynasta Central Suites at Praxitelous. It is a spacious service apartment styled hotel room found under Agoda Homes. This place is walking distance to The Acropolis and the main city center of the whole Athens. I was very happy with this place when I walked into it. I usually choose only hotels that is rated 9.5 stars reviews and above. This was probably 9.8 stars when I booked it. Its the highest reviewed one and probably also the newest one.

I like to stay in newly renovated places so that the air smells fresher and also because I am a little germ phobic. I like things to be new and everything to be very clean, and also I'm very sensitive to smell. Therefore, I prefer to stay at good and top hotels and homes. Not to forget, that it has to be middle of town too as convenience is very important when you visit a country. It is not easy to rent a car and drive around in a city center as parking can be difficult and traffic is heavy too. To truly experience a new city, you must WALK in order to enjoy the true surroundings and indulge in the surroundings like a local walking on foot.

Dynasta Central Suites Bedroom

Dynasta Central Suites Kitchen

Dynasta Central Suites Toilet

This place is neat and clean.

DINNER AT MELILOTOS
Kalamiotou 19, Monastiraki, Athens 105 60, Greece
@Melilotos_Restaurant

I landed into Athens at night around dinner time. The first thing we did after checking into Dynasta Central Suites was to find a good Greek Dinner place. We just walked down stairs and in about 2 minutes we saw the main street. There are lots of restaurants around. This is a small but yet cosy family owned restaurant. They cook simple but traditional Greek food. The price of the food here is really reasonable. It ranges from 10 to 20 euros a dish.

Traditional Greek Salad

Grilled Octopus with Lemon

Squid Ink Pasta

Traditional Setting Inside. Modern and Sleek.

Dinner was really good. The Greek food uses a lot of Olive Oil.

After dinner, we decided to go walk around to explore our hotel surrounding area. Thankfully, we are staying just walking distance from The Acropolis. Well, the Acropolis is the main reason we visit Athens in the first place.

This is how Athens' streets look like in the night..

Zions

Church of Panaghia Kapnikarea
Ermou 55, Kapinkareas 2, Athina 105 63, Greece

The Church of Panagia Kapnikarea or just Kapnikarea is a Greek Orthodox church and one of the oldest churches in Athens.

The Acropolis from BELOW at NIGHT..

It was getting late, so after walking around the Athens streets to get our bearings. We decided to go back to the Dynasta Central Suites to rest so that we can start our day early the next day.

DAY 2

Harvest Coffee & Wine
Aiolou 64 &, Evripidou, Athina 105 60, Greece

Harvest Coffee and Wine - The setting inside feels quite English. Quite a pretty place. Colourful and nicely decorated with wine bottles for their counter area. They served delicious eggs with salmon for breakfast and my boy had some muesli with yogurt and fruit. How healthy doc!

Guards Changing at the City Center
Omonoia Square

Omonoia Square is a central square in Athens. Forming the centre of Omonoia, It marks the northern corner of the downtown area defined by the city plans of the 19th century, and is one of the city's principal traffic hubs. It is served by Omonoia train station.

After breakfast, we went to walk around, and we were lucky enough to see a guard changing ceremony in at the Omonoia Square.

(Photo of the Omonoia Square taken from Wiki)

Walking to the Acropolis

The Acropolis is on the top of a hill, so we basically had to keep walking upwards. This is how the streets look like, there's lots of street art and graffiti around on their buildings, streets and walls. I think the Greek people are really artistic. Some may call it vandalism, but I like to think its really cool art.

The Acropolis & Slopes
Athen Greece
Athens 105 58, Greece

The Athenian Acropolis is the ancient high city of Athens, a prominent plateaued rock perched high above the modern city with commanding views and an amazing array of ancient architecture, mostly from the Classical period of Ancient Greece, the most famous of which is the Parthenon. A visit to Athens is not complete without visiting the Acropolis - hundreds of tourists each day accordingly make the pilgrimage.

How much is The Acropolis Entrance Tickets?

The cost of entrance to the Acropolis is about 20 euros and is good for the other sites in the area including the ancient agora, theatre of Dionysos, Kerameikos, Roman Agora, Tower of the Winds and the Temple of Olympian Zeus and is supposedly good for a week. You can also buy individual tickets to these other sites.

Where is the Acropolis Entrance?

The entrance to the Acropolis is off Theorias St. From the Akropoli metro stop and New Acropolis Museum, walk west along Dionysiou Areopagitou Street and take the first right on to Theorias; from the Thissio metro stop west of Monastiraki, walk west to Apostolou Pavlou St, turn left on it, and walk south to turn left on Theorias. From Plaka, you can walk south up steep Mnisikleous St as far as you can go and turn right on Theorias.

How much time is needed to visit The Acropolis?

The complete tour takes about 1h 30 minutes, You can visit Acropolis and museum in 4 hours and the archeological museum 2 hours, but you will be more tired when you visit in the hot sun during the summer hot temperatures. The best time to visit would be during autumn and spring time. Winter may be a little bit cold, but ticket prices would be..

TRAVEL - Sara Shantelle Lim Travels to Melbourne Australia
Singapore Airlines Business Class
Melbourne's Instagram worthy Pink Lake and the 12 Apostles

I love Singapore Airlines. I used to be a "Singapore Girl" too. The famous signature kebaya is really body hugging and very beautiful.

As usual, service is exellent.

Pink Salt Lake in Melbourne Australia Westgate Park

When I first heard that there was a Pink colour lake in Australia, I went crazy! As my first thought was "UNICORN PINK LAKE!". I wanted so bad to visit and take a photo with it.

Why is the Lake PINK?

So apparently, the water turns pink due to the red pigment that is produced during the warmer months, from the perfect mix of high temperatures, sunlight and low rainfall. It is not always Pink, it will turn back to its usual blue during autumn. Some people think that, it is due to the high salinity combined with the presence if a salt loving algae known as Dunaliella salina that makes the lake turn pink. This particular bacteria is known as halobacteria. No one is really 100% sure why the lake turns Pink yet. I managed to capture this Pink Lake phenomenon around May.

Is it DANGEROUS to Touch the Pink Lake water?

Well honestly, there's no known danger facts of it yet. It is known as a Pink Slime, a bacteria that is just a fungus. But personally, I won't dare to go near it, or touch it. As no the is truly sure about what causes this phenomenon yet, its all just speculations. The other reason, why I didn't dare to go too close to the water was because I can't see whats inside the water too, there is no barrier between the Park and Pink Lake. Who knows what's beneath? Although, based on what I have researched online, it seems to say that, there's nothing dangerous living in the waters. But who knows? Its Pink, no one can see whats inside. It is known that there are a lot of crocodiles and alligators in Australia, and because I cannot see what's inside the water, its safer not to go too close to it. I quickly snapped a picture and moved away from the water area. Maybe, I'm just being paranoid. I watched too many Final Destination Movies.

If you google Australia Pink Lake, you can see different photos of it. It has different shades of Pink, depending on the temperature and weather when you visit the place. It is really beautiful. There's another Pink Lake called Lake Hillier in Australia. But the one I've visited was the one at Westgate Park, just below their Melbourne highway. This was the highway that I took to get to the 12 apostles.

Air Travel is the best way to view The Lake Hillier as this lake is surrounded by a rim of sand and a dense woodland or eucalyptus trees.

The Twelve Apostles

The Twelve Apostles is located off the shore of Port Campbell National Park, by the Great Ocean Road in Victoria, Australia. I drove the long beautiful great ocean road from Melbourne city center. It was a really fun road trip! But don't drive too fast, as if you go off road, your car will basically fly off the cliff and go straight into the ocean!

The Twelve Apostles is a collection of limestone stacks. Seven of the original eight Apostles remain standing, after one collapsed in July 2005. It is a really popular tourist destination for people who loves the ocean and scenic holidays.

Why is the Twelve Apostles called the Twelve Apostles?

It is not really known why these 7 remaining limestones are called the Twelves Apostles, they probably started with 12 limestones at the beginning, before mother nature eroded them and they fell apart and away. The original name was The Sow and Piglets. The sow was the Mutton Bird Island, which is situated at the Loch Ard Gorge, and her Piglets were the 12 Apostles. When you visit the 12 Apostles, there are little little stops in between where you will see other beautiful sites like the Loch Ard Gorge, Princeton Wetlands Boardwalk, Gibson Steps, The Grotto, London Bridge, The Arch, and many more. They even have a helicoptor, which you can take to view the entire zone from above.

What to do in Cebu? PART 3.
Extreme Sport - Whale Sharks Watching in Oslob + Canyoning & Cliff Jumping (PART 3)

EXTREME SPORT ADVENTURE
Whale Shark Swimming in Oslob Cebu Philippines

Alegria Badian Canyoneering Cebu Philippines
with Island Trek Tours

This is the EXACT TOUR that I went for -> https://www.islandtrektours.com/whale-shark-watching-canyoneering-day-tour/?utm_source=itt&utm_medium=mmenu&utm_campaign=onsite

Yes, I am right beside this WHOLE GIANT Whale Shark! Luckily, they do not bite or eat humans. This is just a baby whale shark and its already 5-8 Meters long.

Sara Shantelle Swimming with Whale Sharks in Oslob Cebu Philippines 1 - YouTube

Okay, lets start from the beginning, so it was a 3 hours drive from Mactan to the other part of the Cebu island called Oslob. Hence, our day started way before sunrise. It was all good, I think most of the hotels there know about this 3am pick up time, as they actually prepared a take away hotel breakfast for us for our long car ride. The Island Trek Tours's driver came on time and picked us up in a private car to drive to Oslob. However, half way through the drive, we had 1 stop to have a short breakfast. We met up with quite a few other people from other tours and hotels and made friends.

Well, before we are allowed to see the Whale Sharks, we had to go through a 10 minutes briefing on what we should or should not do with the Whale Sharks. The most important point was that we are not suppose to go too close to them, and certainly, do not even think about touching them.

NO TOUCHING THE WHALE SHARKS!

We go out on little boats like these..

It was really fun and exciting! I have never swam beside any sharks before and this experience was such an exciting one as we were really close to them. They were huge even though they were just baby sharks! Luckily, they only eat algae. It also looks like they do not have any teeth. But just seeing their HUGE MOUTH open right in front of you. You will certainly PANIC!

Look at its HUGE MOUTH!!

That was my leg by the way, It came WAY TOOO CLOSE to me, and I FREAKED OUT! I was trying to SWIM AWAY FAST AND HARD!! HELP ME!!!

Sara Shantelle Swimming with Whale Sharks in Oslob Cebu Philippines 2 - YouTube

Okay, its really not easy to take good shot of it with me underwater. They came and go really fast, and everyone is trying their best to take an underwater shot with the Whale Sharks. I googled some pictures of people taking photos with the Whale Sharks, I am wondering if those photos are real or not, coz I do not see any bubbles in their photos. My photos are full of bubbles as everyone was jumping and diving down holding their breathe, trying to get the best pictures they can get.

These are some crazy amazing pictures which I've found online..

Okay, this is a professional shot.. for Travel Cebu, so yea sure, they got a perfect shot! Great Job!

But how did this guy - Justin do this!? Its so amazing!

Oh seriously? Aren't we not allowed to even touch them? What are you doing there!!!?? Stay away....

Well, this is a true picture of what was really happening above the water, everyone was just swimming around the boats and diving as low down as possible with their camera's to take photos like the above..

TRY HARDER SARA!!

This is one of my many failed shots taken. Boo...

I will settle with these pictures as my best attempt of swimming and taking a photo with the Whale Sharks of Cebu Oslob in Philippines.

"Please TRY again next year Sara.."

EXTREME SPORTS
Alegria Badian Canyoneering (Canyoning) Cebu Philippines
- NOT FOR THE WEAK HEART -
Welcome to Kawasan Canyoneering of Badian

As I was saying, back in my Part 1 of my Cebu blog post, I thought I signed up for canoeing, as I did not read the tour website carefully. I thought I was booking a canoeing trip whereby I was going to see the whale sharks in Oslob, while I'm canoeing. I was taken by surprised by I needed to do an extreme sport like climbing through a mountain and then jumping off cliffs to get to the bottom of the waterfalls. AND I ONLY REALIZED that, AFTER I found myself WALKING INTO THE MIDDLE of a CANYON. I had no idea what I was walking into even while I was making my way there.. That's Sara Shantelle Lim for you.. haha! This is madness!

So what is Canyoning or Canyoneering?

In USA (United States of America), Canyoning (Canyoneering), is a very popular outdoor trekking advanture that involves traveling down through creeks or streams within a canyon through a variety of means including walking, climbing, cliffs jumping, swimming and even abseiling.

In this case, I was literally screaming for my life while I was climbing through the Canlaob River downstream into the Kawasan Falls. It is an extremely dangerous activity, and is certainly not for the faint hearted. If you are an adrenaline junkie, this is perfect for you. If not, please, this is not suitable for a princess-type of girl, if you are on a romantic date holiday.

Luckily, I was still able to go through the entire obstacle course and come out alive. But I must say, I did injure my tail bone and my boyfriend had some bleeding gums, from jumping the highest cliff, which was a 50 feet high waterfall jump. Yes, they do make you sign an indemnity form, before you go for such an extreme sport, they will not be responsible for any of your injuries or even DEATH. But all tourists are accompanied by a local accredited guide who I must say, our guide was extremely good and professional. He was literally hopping and jumping through the waterfall like TARZAN! But I must say, this activity was what made my entire Cebu holiday, the most memorable one!

My mother freaked out when I showed her videos of what I did in Cebu, she was like, "DON'T DO SUCH DANGEROUS THINGS AGAIN!!!!!".

What to expect from Cebu Canyoning (Canyoneering) Experience?

1. Walk a LONG HOT walk to the START of the CANYON
At the beginning, you will take a ride on their little motor bike to the start of the mountain. You will then walk into the dense forest canyon area under the crazy hot sun for about 20-30 minutes first. It is so hot, that you will get sun burn if you do not put any sun screen, so please, put lots of sun block lotion. The guide was really good, he lent us an umbrella for this long walk.

2. Walk DOWNWARDS into the CREEK & Waterfall Area
You will then walk down a ridiculously steep down slope for a good exciting 15 minutes, before you reach the creek area. Walking down this slope was not easy, as they do not have a real path or walk way. There were only a few ropes to hold on to just for mental security! When truly, I think physically, it would not be able to help you if your life depended on it. The moment we reached the start of the waterfalls area, we were allowed to take a break, drink some water and chill a little before the adrenaline pumping activity starts. Good Luck Sara!!!

3. CLIMBING Through the CANYON ROCKS STONES & WATERFALLS
The first part, you have to walk a narrow wooden bridge to get from one high rock to another high rock. For people who are afraid of heights, this may be a little difficult for you. Then you have to climb through the huge big boulders, rocks, stones and waterfalls. The water is really cold by the way.

4. MULTIPLE CLIFFS JUMPING
OMG!!! I did not know that we needed to jump cliffs!!! In order to get out of this entire place, we had no choice! We had to jump off waterfall cliffs in order to get out. Not one, but many cliffs! If you don't jump, good luck! You can stay in this forest for the night and wish that teleportation exist. Luckily, I used to be a Singapore Airlines Cabin Crew (Air Stewardess), hence, I was trained to jump into the wave stimulated pool from an aeroplane, in case of a crash ditching incident. I was so thankful that I had some experience in jumping from a high platform into the water before. And also! Luckily, I know how to swim and I am not afraid of water.

What on earth did I get myself into!?

Well, the first cliff jump, I was very hesitant. I kept telling myself, its just the same as Singapore Airlines Ditching Training. Go go! Jump! I was thinking, what if there are rocks below!? What if I hit myself on the sides of the cliff? OMG, the more I think about it, the more nervous I became. When it was my turn, the professional canyon tour guide, threw a tiny piece of rock into the water that was slightly further away from the cliff, and he said, "JUMP THERE!" And before I knew it, I had to jump, he shouted, "Three, Two, One!" and I jumped! The guide also ensured that I jumped into the correct spot, so he pushed me further out into the water. Phew~

That was officially my first cliff jumping experience in my life.
I know I look completely fine in this picture, oh but trust me, I was completely flipping out inside! My heart was pounding and I was overwhelmed with fear and relieve.

Subsequently, as we climbed through deeper into the waterfalls and rocks, we had to jump higher and higher cliffs. There was no turning back! They had this first cliff jump look like child's play! I think the first jump was around 15 feet high, and the other jumps were moving on to 20 feet, then 30 feet, and so on. Higher and Higher we climbed up and jumped down in the cold..
