I’m like most of you, I didn’t test my gear for decades. There also wasn’t any decent products for me to do so.
The labs were for the most point on the level (most of it was from American labs), and you could tell what you were on was real. After I started doing blood work I knew for sure it was real.
Now things are different.
The amount of counterfeits out there have skyrocketed, even in the last few years.
You literally have no idea unless you have a long history with a lab that you have anything at all.
Since I have started testing my gear with Roidtest, I have a better understanding of a lab / brand and if I can trust what they are selling.
What I have started doing is picking a few out randomly, and testing those compounds (I’m not testing every single vial)
THE PROBLEM IS MUCH DEEPER THAN THAT UNFORTUNATELY
I’m not saying this to scare anyone, but I know from firsthand experience this is what’s going on.
For those of you that don’t know the process, it goes like this.
The raw powders that the UGLs (underground labs) order, come from other countries around the world.
To get these items into the respective countries and pass customs they will need to cleverly hide or disguise the products.
So let’s take a look
UGL orders from their provider LAB from somewhere in the world.
The LAB sends the raw powder to the UGL.
The UGL takes raw powder and makes the injectable or oral compound.
This is where things get confusing.
To get the powders past customs, these LABS that sell the product to the UGL put the powders in bags with graphics from who knows what on the outside of the bag.
If the UGL orders Test Cyp, it doesn’t come in a bag that says 100grams of Test Cyp on it.
It’s usually disguised in a way that usually is only known by the LAB, not the UGL.
This is what I mean.
Let’s say the LAB sends out a bag of Test Cyp 100grams and tells the UGL that the bag will say in the ingredients line “glutamine” I’m just using this as an example.
Now let’s say the UGL gets the product and it says glutamine 99.9%
It looks right to the UGL, and they make the injectable compound out of the powder.
They test the compound with Roidtest or another Gear testing product (this almost never happens) and its positive for Test Prop.
Or even less of a chance happening the UGL sends it to a lab to be tested. (I’m talking about smaller operations)
They (UGL) calls up / or emails the LAB that sent the powder and the lab says, please tell me what’s on the label.
The UGL says “it says glutamine”
The LAB says what does it say 99.9% or 99.8%?
The UGL says it says 99.9%
The lab then tells them it’s not Test Cyp its Test Prop.
99.8% means Test Cyp
99.9% means Test Prop.
They (the LAB) screwed up.
This is one of 100s of examples I could share.
It happens all the time and the UGLs might not even be aware that they are selling Prop to people buying Cyp.
Ok so you may think, what’s the big deal I bought test either way?
Well Prop is a different protocol than Cyp, as well as many other examples of the wrong compound being bought by the customer (you) and it’s not necessarily the UGLs fault. Well it is because they didn’t test the compound, but they took the LABS word for what they said was coming in.
This is a very real issue. I’ve seen it time and time again where the LAB is at fault but it falls on the UGL, then it falls on the reseller.
Most UGLs will do batches and send them off to labs to be tested so they can apply to have their compounds be sold in various markets on the internet.
But don’t be fooled into thinking they are sending every batch to the lab to be tested.
It’s been a minute since I’ve updated the blog. I hate uploading filler and I have a few great things to share with you guys but I found this to be important since this is a question I’m most asked about….
When people are stuck and they can’t figure out what’s wrong, more often than not it is because of food.
Client: I’m doing EVERYTHING, I work out hard, Im taking this supplement, that supplement, I’m doing these compounds…..
TRAINER: Ok what are you eating and at what times?
Client: Um well…. eh…
Ok so that’s it. Why don’t you know your food? Everyone is different and will need different things.
One guy may be a construction worker and can have more carbs, the next person may be at a computer all day long and will not have those caloric needs.
So first things first.
What do we need to do?
What are your goals?
Are you trying to bulk?
Are you trying to get leaner?
Write down your goal.
What do I what to be the end result of my training?
IMPORTANT STEP 1 Make one 3 month goal, a 6 month goal, and an end of the year goal.
Now we have your goal.
What do I do all day long?
Do we need to cut carbs?
As a general rule, starting people off at this point for me is a good starting place.
So let’s start here.
PROTEIN– Min of 1 gram per pound of BW up to 2 grams per pound of BW. I highly recommend 1.5 grams as the starting point.
CARBS- Complex carbs no more than 100 grams (let’s put this after your weight training during the day if your trying to lean down)
FAT – Fat no more than 100 grams (we are talking good fats here)
IMPORTANT STEP 2
Plan your food.
I really like sticking with the 6 foods that work explained HERE.
Make your food in advance.
Plan out at least 3 days’ worth of food. This isn’t as hard as it sounds.
Grill or bake 6 pounds of chicken, Make egg white patties, etc.
Get a cooler and take your food with you.
This is so much easier than it sounds, and it works!
Have a meal plan with all your meals planned out printed so you can check them off all day long.
IMPORTANT STEP 3
Monitor your progress.
Totally commit to this process EVERYDAY FOR 3 MONTHS and see where you are. Do I need a cheat meal during the week?
Am I getting enough food?
Use the mirror as your gauge.
Some guys think they are getting smaller because they are dropping so much fat, however they are just dropping fat, not losing muscle.
This isn’t necessary but if it makes it easier than following a printed food plan, then use and app.
This is one I use and I highly recommend it. It’s called MyMacros+
Ill give you’re a quick overview of how it works.
I’m not a huge fan of apps, but this one is worth taking a look at and it’s only a few dollars.
This chart may be a little outdated I did this decades ago as a hand out. However it’s still holds true as an overall idea
You have to be a detective of sorts and figure out why you aren’t growing, getting leaner, or progressing at all. It’s usually not the weight training, it’s usually not the drugs, and it’s usually the food.
If you guys just stick with monitoring your food, you will be in a whole new category of trainers. Stop spinning your wheels and TRACK YOUR FOOD!
Stay Tuned I’ll be adding Videos, And A LOT more info soon!
It has been shown to increase the secretion of several hormones including GH and insulin-like growth factor 1 (IGF-1) and produces sustained increases in plasma levels of these hormones without affecting cortisol levels.
In short, this compound has been experimented with as a replacement for HGH injections with an orally ingested natural GH releasing compound, at a fraction of the price.
Do I think this will replace HGH kits?
No… HGH injections will be the equivalent of test injections, replacing your natural test with synthetic test.
The purpose of this is to have your body produce naturally your own GH
HGH injections will be synthetic produced GH, MK677 will make you produce your own natural GH.
HGH injections will always be more potent in my opinion for Growth hormone. However the assortment of positive effects MK677 brings to the table is nothing short of jaw dropping.
Also to be noted IGF-1 levels elevated with MK677 remain elevated for 24hrs, giving the user the ability to supplement this orally once per day, unlike HGH injections that need more frequent daily applications.
My experiments on MK677 have blown me away.My Findings…
After many people both professional, personal, and people sending in emails with ecstatic results I thought it very silly not to try this for myself.
I don’t usually jump on trendy bandwagons however this has been around for a while, and people including doctors are raving about this so much I thought there had to be something to it.
I know some guys from trade shows that are starting their own company and they sent me sample packets of MK677 to try.
I read a ton online, books on Growth secretagogues, spoke to people I know personally that are using it, and got a general idea of how it works and what to expect.
At first I tried what seems to be the popular “sweet spot” of 30mg per day.
I first tried it 15mg in the am and 15mg in the pm. That out the gate didn’t work for me.
I didn’t get hungry because I’m naturally hungry all the time so that was no different. The only thing I felt right away was being overwhelmingly tired. So much so that I was drinking a ton of caffeine just to make it through my day. I was being very unproductive so I changed it to 30mg right before bed like so many others claim to have done. That seemed to take care of the sleepiness.
For the first month I was only doing TRT and MK677 at 30mg at night. My workouts were really good and I noticed no pain in my joints as I usually do without a bit of deca onboard.
The second month I started notice my strength was not leveling out like it usually does off cycle, I was getting stronger.
I experimented with a daily am and a pm dose totaling 50mg per day.
Yes I understand everyone says this is too much (50mg).
The tiredness I felt in the beginning had gone away.
Since I have done this (5 weeks now at higher dose) my strength is like when I’m taking a large amount of gear, like Tren, Deca, Test, and Anadrol together. Now the fact that I’m only on TRT dose and MK677 is an astounding find.
I’m having no pain in my joints, my strength is extremely high and I find I look very full on top of it all.
I think the strength has surprised me the most. I was looking for an alternative to HGH, not something that makes me this strong, joint pain free.
Unfortunately because of the time that I received this compound I did not do a before blood test to test my IGF levels, I was anxious to start and I have been so busy I started without taking the time for blood work beforehand. That’s unfortunate because I’m interested in getting my blood work done to see where I’m at now and compare the two.
I now have pulled myself off TRT and want to see how the MK677 does all by itself. So far (now coming off with HCG) I’m still extremely strong and my sleep has improved over time ( I have a sleep tracker attached to my mattress)
I understand this compound IS NOT APPROVED FOR HUMAN USE I’m just sharing my experiences with you for information purposes.
I plan on running this compound for an extended period on time (1 year) to see how it will change my body comp over time.
I don’t think this will replace HGH, its completely different, however as a diverse compound, natural GH release, strength, size, and pain relief, I am extremely impressed by this experiment.
WHAT IVE FOUND WITH MK677
Joint pain has gone away
Strength has increased as if I’m on a heavy cycle
Sleep has improved
Recovery from workouts has improved much like a heavy cycle of anabolics
Size and fullness are very noticeable
Is MK677 Available by prescription?
Yes. Doctors and Male wellness clinics are now prescribing MK677 to patients in certain locations.
The costs vary from clinic to clinic and may/will include the following.
EXAMPLE OF FEES THAT MAY APPLY BASED ON STANDARD WELLNESS CLINICS PRICING PROTOCOLS
– Blood Work – $200
– Initial Doctor Consultation $150
– Monthly Product fees $180 to $375
Will my Insurance cover my visit and prescription?
In most cases, No. This will be considered cosmetic by your insurance company and will be an out of pocket expense.
Is the MK677 bought online fake?
I’m sure just like anything else some are good and some are not. The compounds that I’ve been testing I know are legit. I know the people personally and I know they put out quality products. You can see them here – https://www.researchchemdepot.com
In what forms are MK677 found?
You can find MK677 in oral caps, tabs, liquid and powder. What I have used is the powder form. After being educated on the digestion of the compound I’ve come to understand this is the best and fastest way to metabolize the compound.
The worst and least effective way is liquid drops as it loses potency during digestion.
Negative Side Effects
There are a few things worth mentioning
First hunger seems to be an issue with most. I don’t have this issue however others that have used the same source report mass food cravings.
Also worth mentioning is one user reported elevated liver values however he is an ex alcoholic and is on liver support and doc monitored for liver values.
As always everyone is different and I highly recommend getting blood work done to make sure you are healthy and using products safely.
Is MK677 Legal?
Yes and no. It is NOT approved for human consumption in the US, however you can obtain a prescription by doctor currently as stated above. You can also purchase it online. We recommend– https://www.researchchemdepot.com If you ask a reseller or online provider about use of SARMS or MK677 they will usually steer clear of advice and recommend test subject protocols.
I’ve wanted to add this to the blog for a while now and finally got around to it.
I’ve always believed in high intensity low volume workout routines for hard gainers like myself. I didn’t start to really grow until I read the book Super Squats, and then after that found other routines like that to help me grow.
The first time I watched the Blood and Guts video was years and years ago and I really didn’t understand what I was seeing. It looked great and intense but it wasn’t until I read the book “Blood and Guts” that I finally understood what he was accomplishing in the video.
I won’t try to teach his training style, however I will share some clips and some additional footage so you can get the idea, then I recommend finding Dorian Yates on YouTube HERE- https://www.youtube.com/channel/UC7XOcTLP1aw3kR6q3-WyYbA and checking his videos out for yourself on his channel.
The idea is maximum intensity, Low Volume, Low rep ranges, all-out effort.
When doing this routine remember to always do some light weight sets before you start with any given body part.
For example, when I’m doing this routine, and say I’m working chest, I’ll do 4 to 5 sets on the incline to get hot before I even begin the 4 sets and 1 working set of the first exercise. This is not all out effort, this is just a wake up.
Below is the routine used in the Blood and Guts video.
Hey guys, this post I’ve promised to do for a while. I did these videos at the end of long days so you’ll have to excuse my repeating myself, and sounding groggy and all over the place… BUT there here, and I hope it helps a little to understand the process.
I set up a new account for you guys so you will see exactly what happens when you set up a new account.
There are many different views on how to do your HCG “cycle”. I don’t agree with all of them, but I think there are many ideas that are respectable opinions on the subject.
Ill start off with an excerpt from William Llewellyn’s, Anabolics 10th edition, then I’ll add some videos of well known names in the industry, followed by me laying out what I plan to run shortly.
Human Chorionic Gonadotropin (hCG) is a prescription medication containing chorionic gonadotropin obtained from a natural (human) origin. Chorionic gonadotropin is a polypeptide hormone normally found in the female body during the early months of pregnancy. It is synthesized in syncytiotrophoblast cells of the placenta, and is responsible for increasing the production of progesterone, a pregnancy-sustaining hormone. Chorionic gonadotropin is present in significant amounts only during pregnancy, and is used as an indicator of pregnancy by standard over-the-counter pregnancy test kits. Blood levels of chorionic gonadotropin become noticeable as early as seven days after ovulation, and rise evenly to a peak at approximately two to three months into gestation. After this point, the hormone level will drop gradually until the point of birth.
Although it possesses minor FSH-like (Follicle Stimulating Hormone) activity, the physiological actions of chorionic gonadotropin mainly mimic those of the gonadotropin luteinizing hormone (LH). As a clinical drug, hCG is used as an exogenous form of LH. It is typically applied to support ovulation and pregnancy in women, most specifically those suffering from infertility due to low concentrations of gonadotropins and an inability to ovulate. Due to the ability of LH to stimulate the Leydig’s cells in the testes to manufacture testosterone, hCG is also used with men to treat hypogonadotropic hypogonadism, a disorder characterized by low testosterone levels and insufficient LH output. The drug is also used in the treatment of prepubertal cryptochidism, a condition in which one or both of the testicles have failed to descend into the scrotum. HCG is used by male athletes for its ability to increase endogenous testosterone production, generally during, or at the conclusion of, a steroid cycle, when natural hormone production has been interrupted.
Chorionic gonadotropin was first discovered in 1920,767 and was identified as a pregnancy hormone approximately 8 years later.768 The first drug preparation containing chorionic gonadotropin came in the form of an animal pituitary extract, which was developed as a commercial product by Organon. Organon introduced the extract in 1931, under the trade name Pregnon. A trademark dispute forced the company to change the name Pregnyl, however, which reached market in 1932. Pregnyl is still sold by Organon to this day, although it no longer comes in the form of a pituitary extract. Manufacturing techniques were introduced in 1940 that allowed the hormone to be obtained by filtering and purifying the urine of pregnant women, and by the late 1960’s were adopted by all manufacturers formerly using animal extracts. Over the years the process and manufacturing protocols have been refined, but hCG is made in essentially the same way today as it was decades ago. While modern preparations are of biological origin, the risks of biological contaminants are said to be low (although cannot be completely excluded).
Early on, the indicated uses for chorionic gonadotropin preparations were much broader than they are presently. Product literature from the 1950’s and ’60’s recommended the use of these drugs for, among other things, the treatment of uterine bleeding and amenorrhea, Froehlich’s syndrome, cryptochidism, female sterility, obesity, depression, and male impotence. A good example of the wide uses of chorionic gonadotropin are illustrated in the preparation Glukor, which was described in 1958 as being, “Three times more effective than testosterone. For tired young men in male climacteric. For tired old men in male senility. Beneficial in impotence, angina and coronary heart disease, neuropsychosis, prostatitis, [and] myocarditis.“ Such recommendations, however, reflect an era less tightly regulated by government agency and less reliant on proven clinical trials. Today, FDA-approved indications for hCG are limited to the treatment of hypogonadotropic hypogonadism and cryptocridism in men, and anovulatory infertility in women.
HCG has no significant thyroid-stimulating activity. This is specifically pointed out because hCG was once widely used for the treatment of obesity. The trend seemed to have become popular in 1954, after a paper was published by Dr. A.T.W. Simeons claiming that chorionic gonadotropin was an effective adjunct to dieting. According to the study, patients were able to effectively stave off hunger with severely low-calorie diets provided they took the hormone injections. Dubbed the Simeons diet, people all across the country were soon subjecting themselves to severe calorie restriction (500 calories per day) and taking hCG injections. Soon after, the hormone itself became the main focus for fat loss. In fact, by 1957 it was said that hCG was the most commonly prescribed medication for weight loss. More recent and comprehensive investigations, however, refute that there is any anorexic or metabolic advantage to the use of hCG.769 In 1962, the Journal of the American Medical Association had already been warning consumers about the hCG-inclusive Simeons diet, stating the more basic fact that severe calorie restriction, which causes the body to sacrifice muscle and organ tissue to obtain necessary protein, was more hazardous than obesity itself. By 1974, the FDA had had enough of the hCG fat loss claims, and mandated the following statement to be included with all prescribing literature. “HCG HAS NOT BEEN DEMONSTRATED TO BE EFFECTIVE ADJUNCTIVE THERAPY IN THE TREATMENT OF OBESITY. THERE IS NO SUBSTANTIAL EVIDENCE THAT IT INCREASES WEIGHT LOSS BEYOND THAT RESULTING FROM CALORIC RESTRICTION, THAT IT CAUSES A MORE ATTRACTIVE OR ’NORMAL’ DISTRIBUTION OF FAT, OR THAT IT DECREASES THE HUNGER AND DISCOMFORT ASSOCIATED WITH CALORIERESTRICTED DIETS.” This warning persists on all product sold in the U.S. today. In spite of this warning and evidence to the contrary, some clinics still promote the use of hCG for dieting purposes.
Human Chorionic Gonadotropin is a widely popular drug preparation today, owing to the fact that it remains an indispensable part of ovulation therapy for many cases of female infertility. Popular preparations in the U.S. presently include Pregnyl (Organon), Profasi (Serono), and Novarel (Ferring), although many other trade names have been popular for chorionic gonadotropin preparations over the years. This drug is also sold widely outside of the United States, and can be found under many additional trade names, too numerous to list here. Owing to the fact that this drug is not controlled on a federal level, U.S. athletes and bodybuilders unable to find a local physician willing to prescribe the drug to treat steroid-induced hypogonadism often order the product from international pharmacy sources. Given that this drug is cheap and rarely counterfeited, most international sources are trusted. Although recombinant forms of chorionic gonadotropin have been introduced to market in recent years, the vast supply and low cost of biological hCG continues to make it a staple product for both labeled and off-label uses.
Chorionic gonadotropin is an oligosaccharide glycoprotein composed of 244 amino acids. It has an alpha subunit that is 92 amino acids long and identical to that of luteinizing hormone (LH), follicle-stimulating hormone (FSH), and thyroid-stimulating hormone (TSH). It has a beta subunit that is unique to hCG.
Human Chorionic Gonadotropin is widely available in various human and veterinary drug markets. Composition and dosage may vary by country and manufacturer, but typically contain 1,000, 1,500, 2,500, 5,000, or 10,000 international units (IU) per dose. All forms are supplied as a lyophilized powder, requiring reconstitution with sterile diluent (water) before use.
Human Chorionic Gonadotropin is generally given by intramuscular (IM) injection. The subcutaneous route is also used, and has been deemed to be roughly equivalent therapeutically to IM injections.770 Peak concentrations of chorionic gonadotropin occur approximately 6 hours after intramuscular injection, and 16 to 20 hours after subcutaneous injection.
When used to treat hypogonadotropin hypogonadism, current FDA-approved protocols recommend either a short 6-week program, or a long-term program lasting up to 1 year, depending on the individual needs of the patient. Prescribing guidelines for short-term use recommend that 500 to 1,000 units to be given 3 times a week for 3 weeks, followed by the same dose twice a week for 3 weeks. The long-term recommendations call for 4,000 units to be administered 3 times weekly for 6 to 9 months, after which point the dosage is reduced to 2,000 units 3 times weekly for an additional 3 months. Bodybuilders and athletes use hCG either on cycle, in an effort to maintain testicular integrity during steroid administration, or after a cycle, to help restore hormonal homeostasis more quickly. Both types of use are deemed effective when properly applied.
Human Chorionic gonadotropin is often used with other medications as part of an in-depth Post Cycle Therapy (PCT) program focused on restoring endogenous testosterone production more rapidly at the end of a steroid cycle. Restoring endogenous testosterone production is a special concern at the conclusion of each cycle, a time when subnormal androgen levels (due to steroid induced suppression) could be very costly to the physique. The main concern is the action of cortisol, which in many ways is balanced out by the effect of androgens. Cortisol sends the opposite message to the muscles than testosterone, or to breakdown protein in the cell. Left unchecked by a low level of testosterone, cortisol can quickly strip much of your new muscle mass away. Protocols for the post-cycle use of hCG generally call for the administration of 2000-3000 Units every 2nd or 3rd day, taken for no longer than 2 or 3 weeks. If used for too long or at too high a dose, the drug may actually function to desensitize the Leydig’s cells to luteinizing hormone, further hindering a return to homeostasis. For a more comprehensive view of hCG’s role in a proper hormonal- recovery program, please refer to the Post Cycle Therapy section of this book.
Bodybuilders and athletes may also administer Human Chorionic Gonadotropin throughout a steroid cycle, in an effort to avoid testicular atrophy and the resulting reduced ability to respond to LH stimulus. In effect, this practice is used to avoid the problem of testicular atrophy, instead of trying to correct it later on when the cycle is over. It is important to remember that the dosage needs to be carefully monitored with this type of use, as high levels of hCG may cause increased testicular aromatase expression (raising estrogen levels),771 and also desensitize the testes to LH.772 As such, the drug may actually induce primary hypogonadism when misused, greatly prolonging, not improving, the recovery window. Current protocols for the use of hCG in this manner involve administering 250 IU subcutaneously every 3rd or 4th day throughout the length of the steroid cycle. Higher doses may be necessary for some individuals, but st no point should exceed 500 IU per injection.
These on-cycle hCG protocols were developed by Dr. John Crisler, a well-known figure in the anti-aging and hormone-replacement field, for use with his testosterone replacement therapy (TRT) patients. Although TRT is often administered on a long-term basis, testicular atrophy is a common cosmetic complaint of patients irrespective of the maintenance of normal androgen levels. Dr. Crisler’s hCG program is designed to alleviate this concern in a manner that is acceptable for longer-term use. For those interested in precisely timing their hCG shots in relation to a prescribed testosterone replacement program, Dr. Crisler recommends the following in his paper,“An Update to the Crisler hCG Protocol,” “…my test cyp TRT patients now take their hCG at 250IU two days before, as well as the day immediately previous to, their IM shot. All administer their hCG subcutaneously, and dosage may be adjusted as necessary (I have yet to see more than 350IU per dose required)… Those TRT patients who prefer a transdermal testosterone, or even testosterone pellets (although I am not in favor of same), take their hCG every third day.”
When used to induce ovulation and pregnancy in anovulatory infertile woman, a dose of 5,000 to 10,000 units is administered one day following the last dose of menotropins. The timing is specific so that the hormone is given precisely at the right moment in the ovulation cycle. Human Chorionic Gonadotropin is not used by women for physique- or performance-enhancing purposes.
When we find hCG, we see it is always packaged in 2 different vials/ampules (one with a powder and the other with a sterile solvent). These need to be mixed before injecting, and any leftover drug should be refrigerated for later use. Make sure your product matches this description. Human Chorionic Gonadotropin is widely manufactured, and easily obtained on the black market. To date, counterfeits have not been much of a concern, although a couple of oddities have popped up (all in multi-dose vials).
Im not advocating Rich Piana, or think he was the be all end all on compound use, but I thought this video was well spoken on what someone on a higher dose cycle will used vs someone taking lower dose.

After coming back from being away for work I spent some time going over the emails and approx. 6 people have had issues with MoneyGram. Same issue.Money was sent, creds were correct, but money did not show up on the other end. This was confirmed, not user error.I know for a fact several orders over the last few months have gone through with other money transfer providers.I would HIGHLY advise all to stop using MG. Its causing issues in multiple states.I want to add that MG sent us an email with various threats about using their name on our blog without permission with threats to sue.Other transfer providers remind solid so I again encourage all to discontinue use of MG.Ill be looking for any mention of MG on our blog and taking it down.Just wanted to give everyone a heads up and thanks for all the emails confirming this issue so we can inform everyone. Thanks, Vic
PLATEAU BUSTERS. WHAT YOU MAY NOT BE DOING THAT’S KILLING YOUR GAINS.
I wanted to add a few things that can greatly aid you guys in your progress to shape and add muscle to your bodies.
I see a ton of people taking gear but have absolutely NOTHING ELSE IN PLACE.
It’s really backwards to me. So here are some must haves, and then some tips for growing.
-MUST HAVES-#1 – Food
Man it never fails to amaze me when people start talking about bodybuilding or lifting in general all they talk about is gear.
This is a typical conversation with an inexperienced weight trainer.
SOME GUY: I just can’t grow. I do everything. And I can’t get my body to grow. What can I do?
TRAINER: What are you doing now?
SOME GUY: I take Dbol 50mg per day, I take Tren 100mg per day, I take Anava….
TRAINER: WAIT A SECOND…. What are you eating?
SOME GUY: … …. …. …. Uh…. Well I eat a few times per day ….and I take …like a protein shake…. (I HAVE LITERALLY HEARD THIS ONE TOO) “I even eat the chicken soft taco at Taco Bell at least once per week.” (I literally almost fell over when I heard that shit… no kidding)
Listen I’m not saying I am the best at this. I am a fat guy at heart. I love all things junk food. Chips, French fries, sloppy burgers, if it’s greasy, I love it. BUT if I am looking to accomplish a goal, I and everyone else… HAS TO HAVE THEIR FOOD PLANNED OUT!
Plan it just like you do your gear.
I’ve seen gear plans that I’m like DAMN how long did you spend on writing this shit out???
That’s good… plan it out … BUT SPEND MORE TIME PLANNING YOUR FOOD.
You are not going to make gains without it. I know what you heard, gear will do it all for you blah blah blah. It’s all bullshit… If you don’t have your food in check you’re wasting your time.
If someone/your trainer asks you how you’re eating you should be able to tell them everything down to how much fat, to how much protein, to how many carbs.
If you have read this blog at all you know I’m a fan of the Six foods that work method.
The reason I’m such a big fan of it is because it works…its simple.
Try to build a program around that and work hard at it. Prep your foods. Don’t junk out.
I try to keep my protein at 1 lb per BW however I’ll dial that up from time to time, and if I’m not adding carbs, I usually don’t add any fat to my body. Everyone is different. You may want to seek out a trainer/food coach to help you with your diet.
Diet is King. Gear is gear. It cannot ever replace bullshit food choices.
Don’t be lazy baby…GET THAT FOOD PREPPED!
-MUST HAVE TIPS TO GROW-Some of this may sound silly, but it’s a mistake I see so much it blows my mind.#2 – Get your muscle hot!
I don’t typically watch people in the gym but sometimes you can’t help it. Guys come in cold and immediately pile on weights to the bar, or pick up heavy dumbbells and start working out.
They can’t be seen with light weights in their hands EVER…what would people think????!!!!!!
You want a wrecked body? Go for it… Want slow gains? Keep doing what you’re doing.
YOU WILL GET SO MUCH MORE OUT OF YOUR TRAINING IF YOU GET THAT MUSCLE RED HOT FIRST.
I’m a big fan of light weight warm ups to get as much blood into the tissue as I can. Think of flooding your muscle with blood just like you would a pool with water. Light pumping on a machine or with LIGHT free weights will take you a long way. DON’T COUNT THESE REPS/SETS
Do this for the first 10min of your workout. Pump the shit out of that tissue till your muscle bellies are nice and full.
If you like you can use non-stem pre-workouts,or Cialis, L Arginine, etc
Just make sure not to skip that pre-workout heater (pump).
Take your time. Will this mean you may not be able to lift as heavy during your workout? Maybe…maybe not…who cares… if you’re looking to build muscle don’t worry about the weights so much.
Get that baby hot FIRST, then let it rip. You’ll get so much more out it your workout. Blood in the muscle is key.
#3 -Taking it to failure
There is a place to do a couple of sets of 10 reps blah blah but come on… there needs to be some failure sets worked in there.
This whole… well I do 4 sets of 10 on incline, then I do 4 sets of 10 on Bench, then I do 3 sets of 10 on fly’s…then boops! I’m done!
These same people will tell you they are killing it in the gym…
Well you went… yes…
If you guys want to take it to the next level you really need to push it.
I’m not saying you have to pile on tons and tons of weight either.
You can do this with lighter weight. But you need to have a few sets in there that you cannot do one more rep.
Do this with free weights if you have a spotter, OR use a machine (smith machine, Hammer strength, or weight stacked machine) for your failure sets but you need to have them worked in there.
Do a few failing sets. Do these slow and controlled and fail on that last rep.
That brings me to partials.
#4 – Partials
After you have failed on that last rep.
Do some partials with that weight until you cannot move.
Rest for max 2 min (I prefer 1 min max) and do another Fail set ending in partials
Here are some examples of partials I pulled from YouTube.
Leg Extensions w/Partials - YouTube
SIDE LATERAL PARTIALS - FOR SUPER WIDE SHOULDERS - Rich Piana - YouTube
Partial Reps for Building Muscle (DEMONSTRATION!) - YouTube
These aren’t the best examples but you get the idea. THE LEG EXTENSION VIDEO IS REALLY THE BEST EXAMPLE OF WHAT I’M TALKING ABOUT
Think of it like half reps at the end.
#5 – In-between set stretching
Not only do I recommend flexing your muscles in-between sets but stretch them as well. Let’s say you are working your chest. Flex your chest for 10 seconds in between your sets then stretch you pecs for 15 seconds each side. This is huge, and makes a massive difference in your workouts. Stretch in between each set. You will see massive gains vs. just waiting around till your next set is ready.
Stretch it EVERYTIME!
#6 – Constant tension
I believe there is a place for rest pause sets. However, when I watch people working out very few keep constant tension on the muscle.
By not “locking out” you keep all the tension on the muscle you are working, giving you better time under tension.
For instance, try this next time you are squatting.
Don’t lock out at the top.
Keep your knees slightly bent during the duration of the set.
Never let the tension off the muscle.
Keep it slow and consistent tension on the way up, no rest at the top, and slowly down.
Never “rest” during the set.
I promise you will feel it and will not be able to do all the weight you normally do when stroking your ego with all those plates.
#7 – Rest Pause
When I trying to add weight/get stronger with a body part, Rest Pause is one of my favorite go to’s. Not only will this make your stronger but bigger as well. Here is an example of a rest pause set taken from the DC Training video
REST PAUSE EXAMPLE: A rest pause is usually made up of 1 set with 3 sub sets. Use a weight that you can rep for 10 to max 15 reps Rack then take 15 deep breaths Now continue with 5 to max 7 reps Rack then take 15 deep breaths Now continue with 3 to max 5 reps Rack Optional (DC Training Style) Use a static hold on the last rep for 30 seconds or until failure
#8 – Fascia Stretching Post Workout
This is one is what I call one of my secret weapons.
If you aren’t growing you ABSOLUTELY HAVE TO DO THIS AT THE END OF YOUR WORKOUTS.
You should know this already but just in case you don’t, Fascia is a coating if you will on the outside of your muscle tissue. Some people’s fascia is weak, others are strong.
Each skeletal muscle fiber has many bundles of myofilaments. Each bundle is called a myofibril. This is what gives the muscle its striated appearance. The contractile units of the cells are called sarcomeres.
The stronger the fascia the harder it will be for you to grow.
Your goal is to stretch the fascia as much as possible to give room for your muscle to grow.
You’ll need to
1 fill your muscle with as much blood as possible
2 stretch the living hell out of it after you are finished with your sets/workout.
People will look at you strange. Who cares… You aren’t there for anybody but you I hope.
Make this part of your workout EVERYTIME and you will see a whole new you.
Here is an example of a fascia stretching set taken from the DC Training video.
