The School of Noise runs workshops for children, teenagers and adults encouraging the exploration of noise, sound and music. Our aim is to provide creative and imaginative activities using sound in accessible, fun and educational ways.
Over 700 children from local primary schools took part in a day of activities and talks in the wonderful Alexandra Palace, the home of television broadcasting. Dan and Ruth delivered a talk on Foley sound using lots of different objects to create sounds with. Ruth is a professional Foley artist and has worked on shows ranging from Downton Abbey to Peppa Pig! Here is her IMDB page: https://www.imdb.com/name/nm0838324/
2018 was the busiest year to date. It saw us take the School of Noise overseas for the first time to visit to Ireland, The Netherlands, United Arab Emirates and Oman. Thank you to all the festivals, schools, arts centres, museums and charities who invited us to take part in their activities. And thank you too to everyone who came to visit our workshops.
We recently visited the United Arab Emirates to take part in the Sharjah Children’s Reading Festival. During the 11 day expo we saw over 1000 children attend our workshops! Thank you to everyone who came along and to the organisers for inviting us.
